    For anyone asking... look up the model number of your tablet and go to amazon to order the replacement screen with digitizer. My replacement screen was less than $25 and came with the tools to take it apart and remive screws and glass. 😉
    Wow! so helpful! I have used this video 3 times now lol... yes 😠 my kids have broken the screen that many times, lol. Your instructions are very really to follow! It was easy to fix. My only problem was this and I'm hoping you might have a suggestion on how to fix it, if it's fixable....
    so while removing the lcd, I accidentally tore the little piece of tape like material and the soldering point came loose where the WiFi antenna was connected. Think this is fixable? thanks again for you video and input! 😊

    Hi How2Tech! I bought this model about 2 years ago and roughly about a year ago, the screen turns pink. I bump the sides (mainly the short sides of the tablet) and it goes back to normal. Lately, when it does that, it takes it longer to go back. A few weeks ago, it happened again & I clicked it off (tablet still on) and it took about a few seconds longer to turn off and back on. Earlier this morning, I experienced a problem with the volume button (the ones that come up on the screen), where if you press the lower sound button, it didn't go to where it shows the icon for volume off. I had to scroll from the top part of the screen (where it displays the menu options) and press it again, in which it showed the icon for volume off. I have heard of where dust could collect internally & making it run slow, which happens at times. I was wondering if I need to replace the screen, fix it internally, or buy a new tablet? Could it be from the apps running on the device? There are scratches on the screen,mainly in one area, but no cracks. I hope you can help me. I sure do appreciate it! :)
    Also, is any of the tools you use can be bought from a store or just online? Could you use anything besides the tools shown or it has to be those specific tools?

I noticed that the digitizer on mine has the number FPC-UP1012991-V01 and the replacement digitizer I found is TPT-101-338-2 WJ610-V2.0. Do you know if they are compatible in this same tablet?

      Yes, you can get a replacement LCD. A used one scrapped out of another unit of the same model runs around $20 and usually a new one goes from $20-50 for cheaper tablets and can reach $100+ for larger tablets (10in or more). Generally, it'l cost you around 1/5 to 1/2 the price of the new tablet depending on the model, size and initial cost.

      You helped me so so so much Thank u for everything you do. My repair went perfectly. I now have 2 RCA Maven pro 11.6 tabs.I am so fascinated and drawn to android hardware, and you are a wonderfully perfect teacher for it. I wish I had an apple for you :-) Great voice too. You could do voice over or broadcasting work. You have an inflection and way about your voice that makes you a provocative teacher for this. Just from how u explained instructions and your confidence made me feel more confident that I could do this. BTW I used a metal ended rat tail comb, cut up gift card, micro-screw driver set, and an 1875 to 2000wat hair dryer with 'focused heat attachment' by HotTools, one vinyl disposable glove preventing finger prints, one mico fiber jewelry polishing cloth, and a metal duckbilled hair clip to scrape old adhesive off. And an Ironing board from 1993 as a standing work station. Oh, and a little bit of a square plastic caulking smoother with variable corner thickness. the only tool I had to buy was the suction cup. everything else was around the house, and a part of my hair s***. Hairdressers everywhere can do this if they wanted. Lol. Anywhoo, thanks again so very much for your time and effort to teach us :-)

    • @tdfpublic886
      @tdfpublic886 7 лет назад

      Yes you do. This is a basic rule of electronics repair. ALWAYS disconnect power and give the system a few minutes to bleed off stored energy before making any repair. You risk frying your CPU, GPU, RAM, etc if you don't. When you open up any electrical device to effect repairs or upgrades, you will have to touch components. This risks creating a short that can fry those sensitive components. Ask yourself this... Do you really want to spend money to fix your device, just to have your efforts and money wasted because you were impatient and did not bother to disconnect the power source?

    • @theLuigiFan0007Productions
      @theLuigiFan0007Productions 6 лет назад

      If you're worried about damaging something, desolder the positive battery wire, and put tape over the end. Otherwise it doesn't matter. Do however, completely power if off before disconnecting the digitizer. Touching components is generally fine unless you have liquid on your fingers or use a metallic object. As with any electronics work, make sure there's no risk of ESD when touching. The digitizer can be replaced without removing the motherboard and battery in nearly all tablets. It's recommended to connect the new digitizer by it's cable, set it roughly over the front, power the device on, and test it before peeling the plastic and tape backing off and installing it. The EBay sellers generally want you to do this because if it's damaged in shipping it still has to be in it's packaging to get a refund/replacement. Otherwise they have no idea if you broke it or it actually broke in shipping.
      That said, I'v replaced a digitizer with my tablet on, but in standby (although I highly recommend not doing that). I did it twice in fact, and it didn't cause any problems. The LCD is another story, I'd not risk unplugging it while the device was powered unless one was damn sure it would stay in sleep the whole time. LVDS can be very sensitive to hotswapping. I'm not going to give a reason for my "live" digitizer swaps, it's my tablet, my choice, and I have enough experience with these things to know what can and can't be done. XD
      As to physically removing the motherboard and battery, not necessary a lot of the time, but sometimes is. I generally try to not remove them as often as possible. If the case provides enough structural support that prying the digitizer off doesn't flex the LCD, it's generally ok.

    • @theLuigiFan0007Productions
      @theLuigiFan0007Productions 6 лет назад

      With enough edge prying around the glass pane and sufficient pulling with the suction cup it will come off. But, it's a more slow, and tedious process. I did it without a suction cup once and it sucked even more, but is still very doable. Guitar picks would best for this method, as you can leave a few in each side as you go to work on the others. Realistically, you could gently heat it with a lighter from about 5 inches below until the pane was very warm, but not uncomfortable to the touch, but that's really a bad idea and should only be used as a last resort.

    • @theLuigiFan0007Productions
      @theLuigiFan0007Productions 6 лет назад

      Hold the power button for 10 seconds to force a hard poweroff. Also, yes, disconnecting the battery will turn it off as well. Removing the battery and motherboard like shown here isn't always necessary. Just unplugging battery, or if it's soldered, disconnecting and taping off the positive lead is enough. Either would work actually but disconnecting the non ground connection is common practice when servicing any kind of electronics in general. On some devices though removing those two can be necessary to get the screen off.

    • @tdfpublic886
      @tdfpublic886 7 лет назад

      WRONG... About the battery. This is a basic rule for ALL electronic repairs. ALWAYS disconnect power and wait a few minutes before beginning repair. Any power left in the system has the potential to short out your CPU, RAM etc. Why waste the time and money to repair a device if you are just going to risk bricking your device because you are to impatient to disconnect/remove the battery. If you are going to do a job. Do it right or don't do it at all.

    • @theLuigiFan0007Productions
      @theLuigiFan0007Productions 6 лет назад

      Agreed. Disconnect the battery is highly, highly recommended, physically remove it, well depends if it's in the way or not and if the case provides enough structural support to not flex the LCD when prying the digitizer off. Always power the device off in some way, failure to do so can cause damage to circuitry that doesn't like hot plugging. Make sure to avoid ESD of any kind. Conductive tools are not a good idea either, except for screwdrivers for the screws perhaps.

    I just realized that these tablets don't have any sort of heat dispersal. Wow. That's bad. It's just the CPU die by itself, not even a copper sheet.

    All that space in there just because of the screen!? They could stick at least 64 GB of storage! and a bigger battery.

      Of course. You don't reinvent the wheel every time you want to make an upgrade. You design the system for what you want to be able to do with it. That is how manufacturers keep products somewhat affordable and make a profit from their products for years to come. Design the chassis, main board, etc to handle far more advanced CPU's and GPU's; greater RAM and flash capacities. You then sell the units with the minimal effective components for entry level products and work your way up to the high level products. With each upgrade the customer pays a premium to get better components and software. This business model offers the advantage of a longer life cycle for each class of component. As the tech ages, today's high level components become next years mid-level components and finally the low level components. With a good design, a particular product line can last a decade or more with minimal changes to the foundation.

    Honestly why repair these tablets? They are sub 100 usd. Screen is going to be in the $50+ range add in labor even is i low balled it at 40 your talking 90 bucks to repair a $100 tablet. Just does not seem worth it at all. I would flat out tell a customer the tablet was not worth fixing as it would be 10 bucks more to buy a new one.

      Nova Flare That is exactly why this video exists, DIY no labor fee costs 20-25 to fix. I have a few comments for kids 12-14 fixing theirs.

      Nova Flare Crap meant to add. What i find interesting is some of these cheapo tabs have full size usb ports for thumb drives. I like that idea honestly. No need for using a otg thumb drive.
