Thank you very much for posting this video. The glass got broken and while I ordered the replacement screen and tool kit from Amazon, no instructions were sent and the RCA site didn't have any. This video and the next really helped and it looks and works like new!

Thank You for this video, now I can fix my tablet. Took it to the repair shop and they want $45.00 plus tax to repair. I could get a new one for $42.00 plus tax and shipping. I found a glass and digitizer for my RCA for $9.98 and I am going to attempt to do this with the help of your videos.
Thank you so much for this! My daughter dropped her tablet and cracked the screen, stopped responding to touch. Ordered replacement screen off Amazon along with a separate small repair toolkit. Watched this video and was able to fix it on my own!
I used a hair dryer for the heat since that's all I have (or know how to use) and it worked well. Also, the suction cup that came with my toolkit is much smaller than the one used in video and it still worked just fine.
Used this as a guide to replace digitizer on a Dragon Touch tablet. I used a hair dryer. everything worked fine. thanks for the video

Our tablet is a Thomson branded 7 "bought from kmart AUS but otherwise is identical so lucky i found this video , since its 34c outside today seems a good day to replace the screen :)

Since I am an old lady and I don't want to get very social, I don't have Google+ which may have something to do with it (?).
Thank you again for adding that link. It makes things clearer for me. I just want to repair my granddaughter's 7" tablet. It doesn't look like much of a problem. The worst that could happen is I break it and have to buy her new one, while learning something in the process.

I watched your video a couple of times. A person does need to be patient when replacing their touch screen. With mine, it had a newer design as the speaker was mounted to the touch screen frame and could be unplugged just as the battery could. As for the clips I broke one but it doesn't keep it from working (thankfully). I found using finger nails works better. My clips were difficult to rotate and might have been too tight from the factory.
I think the key to those looking to replace the screens need to look at the entire video before they attempt to do this. I watched this video before I ordered the replacement and sure enough, watched it again while replacing the screen. Good pacing!

Are the removal/installation instructions similar for both the RCA RCT6272W23 and the RCT6378W2? Can I use the TPT-070-179F screen for the RCT6272W23 as well?

Thank you for your help, this is a great tutorial. Can you tell me what the gray wire is for? I thought maybe it's just a grounding wire? It's at the opposite side of the tablet as the speaker and is taped to the side opposite the controls. It has the long little metal piece attached. It came loose so I tried to stick it back on with the gray tape like it shows on your video. I also pulled the speaker wires loose but I think I can just solder those back on, well I hope so. Thank you again. :)
Another nice trick is to use come clear packing tape and putting strips as long as the screen from one side to the other side on there so it holds it all together and it will help avoid making such a mess when your taking it off...

Is the tablet RCT6103W46 apply to this also on removing everything? On my tablet the LCD is broken
I dropped my RCA W101 V2 tablet a meter high and there is now a crack on the top right corner of the screen no larger than an inch. It's not that bad and is still very functional, but an inch from the right all the way down from the crack is not responsive to touch. The LCD still works, there are no dead pixels. Could it be that the digitizer has been partially moved inside? I'm having difficulty locating the problem. Thanks so much.

Hi, Thank you for this video, sounds like you know what you are doing here so I will ask you- Daughter dropped her RCA tablet. It was in the case . I took it apart and nothing is broken. No glass is broken. It will not turn on just has a gray/black screen with a couple big lines on it that look like cracks. So, what do you think I need for it? Thanks!

Use a soldering iron to heat the solder and reattach. If they came loose from the speaker side buy a new speaker and solder on to the board.Jessica Wilson

Got this for my kid for Christmas. She dropped it outside. It sorta mixes up the screen. And half of it doesn't react the other half does. Would this procedure help?

That means you LCD is broken. The glass and digitizer are one piece. You will need to order and replace the LCD screen.
My son have a tablet just like this one and my daughter which is 3, stepped on it. it cracked the screen and the touch screen don't work. I know I have to replace the screen but what else will I have to replace so the touch screen will work?

ok, just a little joking needed here, it took you 17 minutes to remove screen... took me 2 minutes on my 7 voyager II... Then you're like you have to watch next video to put it back together, my daughter and I were like "are you serious!" lol😂

Said Esse I doubt they will replace it. I have had a few people send me thiers and I will charge $30 labor + parts + shipping and you can pay through paypal.com.
I have the very same tablet but i dont have the patience to replace the screen. It wont react to my touch at all. What can i use to get it to react to my touch again without having to replace anything?
Without having to replace anything yourself I'd say ask some tech people to replace it.
I tried that. they told me it would cost $205 dollars to fix a $75 tablet. I don't have that kind of money.

***** I bought a brand new digitizer with new glass but I noticed that there are things holding in the LCD when I look at the inside of the back and I was wondering how do I lift up the lcd from the back to access the screens in front of it? there are things in the way of pulling that out. I was hoping there is another way that doesn't require a suction cup. do you know how?
How do I remove the cracked screen on a tablet that does not have any screws? I just warm the glue up with a blow drier and then try to lift the screen as you did?

Does anyone know of a better screen for this tablet? a friend of mine is having me fix the battery in his larger tablet and in return i get to keep this exact 7 inch rca tablet, its very easy to repair ive actually done it for him once before, im just wondering if there is some sort of 720p screen with better viewing angles, lighting, color reproduction etc, i cant seem to find one but im not that savvy on the in depth tech stuff yet like if its a pretty standard screen or connector so if anyone has any info that would be great, its actually a decent tablet the screen just ruins the whole experience lol also it is much easier to buy the whole front of the shell and replace it that way lol i just took the chip off the back of the screen and popped the panel out of the front shell and put it into the new one with the new glass and everything in it already, im not sure how much it was for that glass but it was 10 dollars for me to get the whole front half of the shell with glass and touch screen in it already

Nicole Gaskill Make sure the ribbon cable is pushed all the way into the connector. If that does not work the screen may be faulty.
OK thank you I tried that the ribbon seems longer than it should be and doesn't seem to line up correctly I contacted seller and they are working with me They want me to send pictures of the old screen and the need so hopefully can get it figured out.....

My brother recently dropped his RCA 7 voyager and it has cracks, we tried to ask to get it fix but they all said, "sorry i can't fix it." which made us sad. I would like to help him but i don't have a lot of money and i would not like to make a mistake on buying the wrong screen. The people we asked if they can fix it also said something about 2 screens. Can anyone help me get these parts or know of a place where they might be able to fix it? I would appreciate, and thanks :D
If you live in saint Louis go to west county or south county Mall. There is a shop in one of them that fix broken screens. I recently cracked my rca and my mom is getting it fix at one of these locations.

not sure as this one worked. It could need to be removed with a hot air soldering iron.
I had same problem Im not sure what was wrong but i was on warranty so i sent it to RCA they fixed that and now my digitizer broke so now since its not in warranty i get to do the grunt work ;P
People the speaker can be removed from the back housing grab a razor blade and you can be able to remove it from the back housing ,no need to de-sotter the speaker to remove it to make it easier to fix the screen
I have the Viking Pro 10 inch. No matter what I use I can not get the case off. I have removed all the screws. There are 8 on this one. & no matter what I try, can not get the case off. All its doing is scratching the heck out of my case & chewing up the tools that came with it. I am getting very discouraged.

I liked your other video to fix the power button was great. But this one seemed way TOO LONG. Wouldn't it be faster to just remove the 3 screws and pull the LCD? Would have done it in at least half the time.
my RCA voyager iPad 7" is a T6873W42. it doesn't have the speaker on the back panel like your's is. it is on the main part of the iPad.
Do U know anything about why mine is made that way?
It also doesn't have the screws. They got lost, but if I can fix the touch screen which is cracked & doesn't work anymore I will use eyeglass screws if they will work on it...

Charger input, BTW when your USB input doesn't work, buy an LG 5.1V = 0.7A, they seem to work every time, when all others fail, no repairs needed ;0 (voltage?)
