TY for the video! The maven is exactly like my wife's Viking pro! The one thing that I found to be a lot easier in removing the screen was to take a razor blade and cut around the screen along the black edging and remove the black outside edge so that the heat can get to the glass. Had mine done in just a few minutes with a hair dryer. Thanks for the help!!
Hey Tony: U The MAN!!...I am ready to try this. Only because of you and your " If I can do it so can You" approach and explanation/instructions; to this repair. WISH ME LUCK!!! I WILL INFORM YOU OF MY PROGRESS AND RESULTS...
I'm really glad you did this. I am replacing mine today. However - 5 solid minutes of unscrewing screws? - then you FF through the really important delicate parts where we could easily mess up. Needs more explanation about the glue and melting it.
Thanks for the feedback. I will re-edit it to show it more clearly with a better explanation. I will tell you this that at first you are trying to get up the outer layer of the digitizer to reach where the glass meets the frame which is about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch from the edge. At that point use your spudger the lift the glass out of the frame. The glass is adhered to the frame but not the LCD like most phones and tablets. Be careful with the heat gun as it is a really cheap plastic frame. Do not use something harsh like goof off to clean the adhesive as it will distort the plastic. Just scrape off the adhesive strips as best you can with a plastic spudger.
Just ordered a digitizer, about to perform this surgery on my RCA Galileo Pro 11 (11.6"), and I can't find any videos for that exact model. Do you happen to know what, if any, differences there might be between the Maven and the Galileo that would pertain to this repair? Can't believe I just spent $35 on a digitizer to fix a $79 tablet! I hope it works! Thanks for this video, it gives me a better idea of what to expect.
Thank you Sir. Just fixed my nephews tablet. ..........For the people with the Mav pro 11.6 it's all the same stuff on the inside.. One thing to note tho make sure you tuck the cable ribbon in on the new digitizer. On the case there will be a little part for that, if you don't tuck it in, the cable won't reach. also it's not wise to bend cable ribbon.
Very useful video. I had to slow it way down for the parts you'd increased speed. I would also like to know what adhesive you use to keep the digitizer secure on the the LCD.
What if I don’t have a heat gun. . . My tablet is the exact same and half the screen is unresponsive This video is very very helpful but yea I don’t have a heat gun. . . . Is there any other way to remove the screen without a heat gun
The magnets on my tablet keep jumping off and adhering to the battery etc. they are so powerful that one even broke when it jumped out of the case. I notice that yours are in there securely. I just glued mine in and am waiting for the glue to dry so I can put the back on. I'm not sure what their purpose is, as the tablet works without the back attached. Cajoled I have just left them off?
Great until you just blazed through the most important process at the end of I our video where as somehow you removed the frame of either old one or new one not even a wordl on it, then somehow you checked something on screen wether digitizer or lcd??? No tips on putting in cable? Taking it as ok as rt easy, putting it back could use more time
what did you use to make sure that dirt and dust particles where cleaned from the screen while you had the glass off? I have to replace the glass on maven pro 11.5 but don't want dirt or dust stuck under the glass
am i the only one that had to replace the inner display glass instead of the outer plastic . because i have the 11.6 & i cant seam to get the plastic insert off the inside that holds the glass in
I am 10 years old and i had broke my tablet and with your help i fixed my tablet!!!! THANK YOU!!!!

One suggestion, when lifting the black "hasp" for the connector release, always lift from the center gently.

Great
Will this procedure work also for the rca viking pro 10.1 RCT6303W87DKFC
Using a mouse will let you shut down the power.
am i the only one that had to replace the inner display glass instead of the outer plastic . because i have the 11.6 & i cant seam to get the plastic insert off the inside that holds the glass in
had to replace that 2 because mine is 11.5
how much its glass cost
Plug in a mouse then you can shutdown
I'm gonna fix mines then
If you wish to turn it off you could use a mouse.
