    That dark purplish/blue spot after pressure treatment is a pressure mark where the plastic optical layers/filters are damaged. I see it all the time in field monitors that are prone to rough treatment and damage. I've also seen dead and hot pixels or pixel groups spontaneously fixing themselves after leaving the monitor alone for a while, only to leave such a pressure mark behind. It's very clear what the cause of the dead/hot pixels was in that case. Groups of dead and hot pixels can be caused by displaced or damaged spacers in the crystal layer of the panel.

    I appreciate the lesson around monitors. However none of these suggestions worked out. What did it for me was to play around the refresh date of the monitor. It was set to 60 hertz and by switching from 60 to 75 and back, the dead pixels revived (they were stuck). Hope the suggestion works for you.

  • @TorrentFiend10

    Stuck pixels are weird. Had a couple of them in the past and was able to fix both of them because they were just stuck. A quick Google search for a pixel exerciser which basically is a little box that flashes different colors quickly to exercise that pixel can be placed over the bad pixel and surprisingly if it is just stuck with a color on it, in my case it was green both times, it does fix it. Neat quick easy do-it-yourself fix.
    Dead pixels truly suck though. usually a certain number of them have to be dead or you're just forced to use it and rage.
    EDIT: after watching the full video you reminded me that I once had to massage a dead pixel back to life as well. Yes really weird but it does work. I had a stuck pixel once and I tried with a microfiber cloth very carefully and gently massaging the small area it was located at being careful not to press too hard because you don't want to see a rainbow effect on the LCD and damage your display. Massaging the pixel I can confirm also does work as well. I've done it, it worked.
    So the tldr version for anyone who has trouble with a stuck pixel of a specific color, try the j-screen fix he recommends, I've had it work in the past. I've also had massaging the pixel work as well. I would try Jscreen fix first to avoid touching the display. As long as the pixel isn't completely dead the good news is knowing the right information as he provided in this video you can take Brian and fixing it yourself because often you might get lucky and you can. Good luck everyone with stuck pixels, we feel your pain.

    I once had dead pixels on my screen too, but it wasn't the monitor. It was the gfx card's memory. I always saw 2 dead pixels next to eachother on my windows desktop, which had a wallpaper image on it. After pressing F5 to reload or refresh it, the dead pixels were suddenly somewhere else on the screen. Also, when playing video games, some triangles were cutting through the entire screen. All "broken" triangles had one corner (vertex) pointing towards the 0-point (world center) of the game world. All due to some memory-locations being damaged. No way to fix that. :P

    I (used to) have a column of stuck pixels. They frequently flip between blue and cyan. I'm guessing that one or two of the column connections broke somewhere, or a transistor or two got stuck in the off state (perhaps a power surge that caused the voltage to get a little too high). The monitor is now connected to my backup PC (for when my laptop breaks or something), so I don't have to worry about seeing that every time I use my computer (yay)

    FYI. This is my experience for maintenace LCD / OLED panel.
    1. Do not used Dark mode / Black screen (can cause dead pixel, black level for a long time can make the pixel permanently into black if theres no static colour)
    2. Always used static colours
    3. Do not shake / huge vibration / force touch the screen
    4. Limited your watching the screen continously max 2 hours, then sleep it.
    5. Decrease screen light into 50%-70% only

    • @ha231
      @ha231 2 года назад +3

      Static images is far more damaging to OLED than turning the pixels off. Burn in affects a large area, dead pixels affect one pixel at a time.

    Dark areas from too much pressure are called bruises. If warrantee wont cover bad pixels on a new screen, I believe UK consumer law states under the distance selling regulations that you can return any item without stating a reason within 28 days as long as you have all the packaging and have not damaged the item. Usually you need to contact the supplier for a returns authorisation code. There are exceptions for personal items like makeup for example, or items made to order, etc. but if your new TV or monitor has an annoying dead pixel problem in the UK - you might be in luck!

    I solved it differently. I have my laptop connected to my 4k TV, using both as a dual monitor. My blinking pixel problem was caused when I changed the setting for the TV in the Intel Graphics Control Panel. The default setting is "Maintain Display Scaling". I had changed it to "Maintain Aspect Ratio" and the blinking began. The problem was solved when I changed it back to "Maintain Display Scaling".

    I just smudged and pushed a long straight line of dead pixels on my laptop screen to the side. Like, literally, just put pressure and scratched that part with my nail until it moved, and pushed all the dead ones to the side. I had tried JScreen before that, but it hadn't worked. I believe the pressing didn't fix it, but I don't know how it "moved".
    This is actually the short version. It took over a week and 2 hours of pressing, and I actually created a big patch of dead pixels (like 5x15), but ultimately, I was able to push all of them to the bezel and gone for good.

    Be aware that applying pressure can make it worse. In my case it i think it did. It was a subtle red dot before but now it's a more pronounced red square pixel. Really sad but i blame myself for i already had a bad feeling but brainlessy did it anyway. I would suggest only trying the (very light) pressure method if the pixel is already very pronounced and even then it's probably smarter to just accept it and not make it worse. Try the flashing pixels method first, maybe overnight. Didn't work for me though and i figured out that the red subpixel is still working but the blue and green subpixels always stay off, hence why it's red on red but on white and grey (when all subpixel should shine) it's just also just red and on green and blue (when ONLY those should shine) it's black and consequently on it's black on black. I suppose that's at least lucky since if all three of them were dead it would be a pitchblack pixel on white which is more visible. But that also means that i cannot fix it and shouldn't have played around with it. I guess i was either imagening it getting worse or the green and blue lights DID initialy work at least a little bit, making it less pronounced. Should have given it more time to carefully inspect things and figure out my next steps...

    • @awesomeferret
      @awesomeferret 7 месяцев назад

      Yes, anyone who watched this video completely is very much aware that applying pressure can make it worse... Did you not watch the last few minutes of this video? 😂

    • @jawashasalan56
      @jawashasalan56 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@awesomeferret I did, but I didn't give it much thought at that time. Plus I think I gave a bit more perspective on what to look out for to determine whether it's worth a try or not. That is, if only a subpixel is broken it might be smarter to leave it be as it's not that bad anyways since the other subpixels will still make it blend in in most scenarios. If the whole pixel is broken than light pressure can at least not make that specific pixel any worse so it might be worth it maybe. I think that view is worth more than just an initial vague feeling on whether one should risk or not. Overall it's probably a bad idea in general though. But I wasn't unaware of the possibility, just not sure on what to base my decision on so i went ahead on a whim.
      Edit: Oh yeah: Smartass 😏
