I can’t believe I’ve come across people who actually said Rick and his crew were too brutal, and even some of his comrades looked at them like they were cold blooded murderers. Bruh, they’re CANNIBALS, and gathered people like cattle and slaughtered them! Even attempting to ignore that, they are vile human beings. Instead of even letting Rick’s group go, they stalked them to no end. Let’s not forget, how can you WANT people like this roaming around the earth, to keep doing what they do to others (as Rick pointed out)? This was a well deserved slaughter, and frankly one of my favorite scenes in the series (despite having gone downhill after S4). I won’t even forget how Rick actually gave me chills when he came out of the dark after shooting Gareth’s fingers off.
same, can't believe people excuse the planned eating of innocent people but won't excuse their slaughter at the hands of their obviously traumatized victims even if it wasn't justified (which it obviously was). i guess they're just so shocked by the brutality of it that they can't see it was deserved
@@Project2025WILLRUINYOURLIFE It seems this occurs more often than not in real life. If you act like an asshole your whole life, it seems acceptable as most are not surprised by their actions. However, if you're generally placid and mild mannered and then suddenly act out aggressively even when provoked, you'll be seen as the bad guy. And I think it's got a lot to do with peoples expectations. I think it is one of the reasons that bullys often get ignored for their actions but victims who strike back tend to be reprimanded as they do not act accordingly. Brutal stuff - but Rick and the gang were doing what needed to be done. They were actually beating them quickly so that they didn’t have to suffer too long. In fact it was probably Rick’s preference to just shoot them and be done with it - but like he said, they really needed the bullets.

The actor who played Gareth was absolutely brilliant in this scene because when we first saw his character he was a slightly calm villain and then in the final showdown he becomes the scared one just like ricks people were when he was the one about to kill them
Naw, Rick wasn't scared. Even when tied up, on his knees with a knife to his neck, he promised that that he'd kill Gareth and his friends. Gareth is the only coward here

"You'd do this to anyone." - Rick. He was 100% right. If it wasn't them, those sickos would have harmed someone else, so not only did Rick protect his people by killing Gareth and his gang, but also potentially saved others as well. If Negan had seen this, as well as what Rick did to Joe and the claimers, I wonder if he would've still gone after Alexandria? Update: Even though this is brutal scene, it does teach a life-lesson, and that is: People are known by what they do, not what they say. If they behave dishonest or dishonrably with other people, be assured they will do the same to you, and you would be a fool to trust them. They may try to decieve you with their words, but their actions reveal their true character, intentions, and motivations.
@@ImaginaryNate - Let me ask this, does Kenny beating Carver to death with a crowbar kinda remind you of what Rick did to Garrett? By the way, isn't it kind of ironic how clean Rick relatively still was even after he butchered Garrett? Must have gotten a bath, or a shower that we never saw.
i think Negan would’ve been impressed and tried to recruit Rick and his people as a soldiers into the saviors and he also would’ve killed Gareth the same way Rick did had he been in that situation. Negan had some sense of humanity and saving lives even in his callous bullying way, unlike Gareth, who lost his humanity long ago by being an outright murderer of every man, woman, and child that crossed paths with his group.
When I looked at Rick in this scene, I didn't see him. I saw a man that you should fear if you ever cross his path and messed with his family. This is the man Shane wanted rick to be at times when necessary. This truly gave me chills.
Neags the whole point of that was to draw the walkers and let them flood the sanctuary... They knew they were outnumbered and if they got into a battle they would've lost
@RaxorBlade813 Bull-fucking-shit. Carl Grimes was and still is a vital role in the story, yet Scott Gimple killed him off to boost mid-season viewership ratings so AMC could sell more ads for commercials. They butchered Negan as a character and made All Out War -- one of the most entertaining story arcs from the Comics -- a long, boring mess.
RazorBlade They had ample opportunity to just shoot Negan and his crew right there. Rick tried to kill him just a few minutes after that as well. They build it up to make it seem like Rick was going to kill him ASAP, but it doesn’t help out when they create moments in the story where Rick could have just easily killed him right away but doesn’t do it for some reason.
completely agree, The Savagery didn't make that scene great though. It was that given the same circumstances I would hope that i could make the same choice that Rick did in that moment. It was a point in the series where the writers held up a mirror to the audience as if to say "Rick is a changed person from who he was in season 1, but the audience is as well" This is still a made for tv series and that scene pushed a lot of different boundaries
People say the Terminus arc was too short. If they expanded it, wouldn't it have been a rehash of the Governor storyline? I think the former was brief to show how brutal, powerful, and relentless Rick's group had gotten at that point. Their complacency would later get them steamrolled by Negan. It makes for good storytelling.
True but I still think there was a missed opportunity with Gareth. I really liked the cool, subtle way he delivered his lines and just treated what his people were doing like it was otherwise routine when the worlds gone to hell. Could have just kept him alive a bit longer and developed him more
Right… each episode from start to finish was str8 up action had me on the edge of my seat for like a month str8 and like you said literally every arc thru out the oth seasons had fillers 😂 loved the terminus arc💯
This version of Rick is by far my favourite. He looks absolutely deranged and SCARY and I absolutely love it. If him and his group didn't do this, they would have never stopped. "You don't know what it is to be hungry". Pretty sure they actually do know, and they managed to fight through it without kidnapping, slaughtering and eating human beings. "Didn't wanna waste the bullets." basically says "we're gonna kill you right now for sure, it just won't be with guns" *chefs kiss*
which is crazy to me how negan scared him soo much yes they were surrounded but rick just seemed soo defeated when they first met. I think he did though underestimate how large negans forces where lol. crazy times.
@@MajesticLawnGnomeRick had gotten used to Alexandrian life, and had faced down the Wolves with little trouble and then the zombie hoard that invaded Alexandria. He had gotten complacent and comfortable in his group's power and security and competence. Negan flipped his world completely upside-down and made him think that he was about to either see Carl severely traumatized for a second time, and at his own hand (which is the greatest nightmare a parent can have), or see his closest friends and extended family get their heads and faces blown off, and then Carl likely die anyway. Rick had become resilient against gradual trickling losses here and there, but Negan was able and willing to take away everything important to him all in a single night. And that was all after he saw one of his closest friends, Glenn, get his brains bashed in. Oh, and let's not forget the little trip in the camper that Negan took him on, to say nothing of the mind games the Saviors had been playing with them all day, to the detriment of Maggie's odds. I don't see how Rick couldn't have been so absolutely pants-shittingly broken by all of that. Even season 5 Rick would've been. Negan played him like a fiddle. Those two episodes were honestly brilliant IMO and got my heart rate up more than any show or movie I had watched in a looooong time. To this day I still consider it the show's absolute peak.
Rick's cold, dead and distant stare as Gareth starts to fully realize the gravity of his situation. As he begins to try to beg and negotiate for his life, Rick's glassy stare is piercing right through Gareth. There's no negotiation. He's already made up his mind. These are the steely vengeful eyes of a man who seen horror and had to become horror himself. In this moment Rick has completely abandoned his humanity to prepare himself for the bloody vengeance he is about to deliver. "We didn't wanna waste the bullets", his venomous and rage-filled gaze never leaves Gareth's eyes. He is pouring all of his pain and hate into Gareth and finally, he delivers his justice. Just a fantastic scene.
“You don’t know what it is too be hungry.” The thing I love about this, is after settling terminus Grady hospital, Rick and the gang went through arguably their worst time period, going hungry for weeks at a time, and eating rabid dogs, after this they felt TRUE hunger, and as Aaron says, even through weeks without food you never turn on each other, even im their worst, their better than these creeps

I loved this scene because these cannibals were so confident that they underestimated rick and his group not once but twice. Garret didn't think he wasn't going meet his demise at his hands until it was too late.
They were cannibals and horrible people and Rick was right if those people crossed others paths whos to say they wouldn’t kill another group? Rick did the right thing
Gareth: “You don’t have to do this. We can walk away, and never cross paths again. I promise you.” Rick: “But, you’ll cross someone’s path. Besides, I already made you a promise.” Those lines sent chills down my spine fr.
Exactly. Rick knew they were safe but knew these animals were a danger to any other innocent people who would later cross their path. He did the right thing IMO
@@geenaverna8887 100%. It's decisions like this that have always set their group apart from so many of the horrible groups they've encountered. They think of others as themselves (unless forced to do otherwise) and what it could mean for them to run into the kind of monsters the Terminus people became.
A recurring theme I love about this series is that it shows that the idea of survival differs and it shows through its characters, Gareth and Terminus they resorted to cannibalism to survive, The Saviors, through brutality and force and the Whisperers hiding among the dead and continuously traveling. This series shows what some are willing to do to survive no matter what it takes and what they will sacrifice.
Probably one of my most favorite - and most cathartic - scenes from the entire TWD series. People seem to forget that, from the very beginning, Rick and his crew were peaceful and wanted no trouble for anyone. It was only when they kept encountering depraved and violent people, at every turn, that they had to resort to drastic measures. For god sake, he along with Daryl and Glenn were about to be brutally killed and turned into dinner for these cannibals before Carol saved the day. These creeps got what they deserved.
This was the first scene of TWD I ever saw. I literally turned the channel on at this exact point lmao. Went on Netflix after and binged every season (:
Similar to me! I started by watching the premiere of season 5. When I saw Carol blow up Terminus with a firecracker, I immediately binged seasons 1-4 on Netflix!

Whenever I see this scene and Rick tells Gareth “you’d do this to anyone”, I always wonder if Bob told Rick that Gareth said and Rick was throwing those words back in Gareth’s face. Gareth said, “we would’ve done this to anybody” to Bob as he and the rest of his group were eating his leg.
oh wow yeah that makes so much sense! i always thought he was saying that as in “i have to kill you because you’d do this to anyone” i should really be paying attention more to these kind of details 😂
This was the peak of this TV series. Overstayed it's welcome and lost all the main characters. Was a shell of itself by the time it ended. Will always have this scene to remind me of happier times.

@@lilcobe829 I meant in the aftermath. Having said that I forgot to include Rick. Sasha was trippin' over what she and others had done and Rick had to set her straight like, nope, coulda been us. One of my favourite details from this scene is Micchone's tired expression when picking up her sword again. The sword always represented something she didn't want to be, a fighter, a killer, etc. Micchone only ever wanted to go back to being a mother and to live in peace again
Showing the reaction of ricks group was so important because it really showed who was willing to do whatever it took without an ounce of doubt to protect the group.
Rick is the best character in Twd, change my mind... That thousand yard stare of his gives me goosebumps every time, and don’t sleep on that slight head tilt that he gave Gareth when he was talking to him. The “insane/no care for anyone other than his people” type of Rick is the most savage person in the world, right next to the punisher as well as the equalizer. #the isn’t the same without you Rick!
Everyone’s talking about Rick but it’s crazy to see the reactions of some of the groups members towards the other group members. Shows how after trauma and abuse, one can shut off all feelings of empathy and beat/hack someone to death. All the while, the others watch in horror. Traumatized but the inhumanity. Reactions like these happen in real life and for them to capture it so perfectly makes me truly appreciate this scene.
I actually liked how Sasha shows the effects of adrenaline wearing off. All the rage she had when they kindapped and mutilated Bob and after he died. These emotions can be really incredibly strong and can leave you fatigued after such an outburst. She went American Psycho on that canibal after all this shit.
I can imagine the fear in Gareth 😂 Gareth: “You could’ve killed us when you came in...” Rick: “We didn’t want to waste the bullets.” Gareth: ......shit...
I've watched this scene so many times and I only just now noticed that when Rick says "We didn't want to waste the bullets" I don't think he was trying to be sarcastic or joke at all, he seems completely serious. They didn't want to bother using bullets on them because they knew they didn't have to.
I also think it shows he wasn't interested in negotiations. The only reason he kept Gareth alive for as long as he did was to hear him beg for his life
The tense background music, the lighting, the talking in deep voices- everything just fits together perfectly and makes this scene so tense and thrilling. I was literally on the edge of my seat when I first watched this a few years ago.
Its such a small detail but that quick moment where Rick raises and lowers his gun. Its like his instincts took over his composure upon seeing how pitiful Gareth looked and the idea that "You'd do this to anyone". On top of his promise he realized executing him would be pointless, lowers the gun and goes back into the monolouge while maintaining a piercing gaze. Its so small but so vicious of a detail
Looking back as older episodes make me kinda understand a little more about how negan basically broke this group. For the most part rick and the gang have dealt with villains who take everything around them seriously. Shane wanting to take over as leader because he was ahead of the curve, The Governor seeing them as a threat to his power, Gareth and his folks eating people to survive, the wolves basically just loosing all sense of humanity. All of whom are doing what they do because they view it as necessity, and rick and the group ruined everything. Then here comes this guy who comes out with a smile on his face, like the zombie apocalypse was the best thing that ever happened to him. Almost like he enjoys killing people.
I always liked how in this scene after the murders Rick says “it coulda been us” almost like he had to justify what they just did and how brutal it was to everyone and maybe even himself because maybe he had just a moment of self doubt upon reflection of what he did. I mean he literally chopped a dude up with a machete in a church lol
This is such an iconic scene but what makes it funny is seeing Tyreese, Tara, Glenn and Maggie’s reaction and the sheer horror of what they saw 😂 Plus, if you go to 3:18 and you have the subtitles on, you’ll see the caption under Tyreese’s face saying “Damn son”. I absolutely died of laughter seeing that 🤣 🤣
It’s because at this time they’re usually better than the monsters they’ve killed. They easily could’ve shot them all, but they decided to kill then brutally
It's different than whats in the comic where rick, andrea, Abraham and michonne go to do it and Gabriel is the only witness, here it's a very public thing where everyone is a witness
I think this is the moment that broke Tyreese. The world is f**ked and this is what it’s come to. His sister is brutally killing someone… I think during his death scene with the radio… he just wanted it all to stop it was too much that’s why he says turn it off

How did you notice that😂👏good stuff
They have done studys on this and it's interesting. If I find it i'll put the link up.
Dude it’s a show based on a comic. Chill.
Brutal stuff - but Rick and the gang were doing what needed to be done. They were actually beating them quickly so that they didn’t have to suffer too long. In fact it was probably Rick’s preference to just shoot them and be done with it - but like he said, they really needed the bullets.
I think it’s justified, survival of the fittest and rick and the gang saw no other option to take them out

An odd comparison, but this is why I believe Batman’s no-kill rule shouldn’t be a thing. For these exact reasons

i think Negan would’ve been impressed and tried to recruit Rick and his people as a soldiers into the saviors and he also would’ve killed Gareth the same way Rick did had he been in that situation. Negan had some sense of humanity and saving lives even in his callous bullying way, unlike Gareth, who lost his humanity long ago by being an outright murderer of every man, woman, and child that crossed paths with his group.

One of the best revenge scenes in tv history.
Shot gareths 2 fingers off in the dark yet couldn't shoot Negan or any of the saviours from about 20 feet
Neags the whole point of that was to draw the walkers and let them flood the sanctuary... They knew they were outnumbered and if they got into a battle they would've lost
Rosita couldnt kill Negan from few meters with a gun.
Obviously Negan was and still is a vital role in the story. Can't kill him off if his role isn't up yet ;) it's a story not real life lol
Best scene in the whole serious is when rick bites the guys neck. Hands down the most savagery I’ve seen
completely agree, The Savagery didn't make that scene great though. It was that given the same circumstances I would hope that i could make the same choice that Rick did in that moment. It was a point in the series where the writers held up a mirror to the audience as if to say "Rick is a changed person from who he was in season 1, but the audience is as well"
This is still a made for tv series and that scene pushed a lot of different boundaries
That was when Rick was in his prime from S4:E16 - S7:E1 when he finally met Negan
Kannin williams that was series 4 not 5
Yeah I know rick goes vampire on those bitches
That was Joe lol. Badass scene for sure

Rick's cold, dead and distant stare as Gareth starts to fully realize the gravity of his situation. As he begins to try to beg and negotiate for his life, Rick's glassy stare is piercing right through Gareth. There's no negotiation. He's already made up his mind. In this moment Rick has completely abandoned his humanity to prepare himself for the bloody vengeance he is about to deliver. gots u no floor, 4 walls and a roof LMFAO
BrickArts295 u definitely need floor brahh
Robin 😂
3:17 even the subtitles were scared.
Lmao 😂
(Damn Son)
Where'd ya find this???😂😂😂
Years later and I still cant forget this intense seen.
Really?
Had zero effect on me.
Ah well...different perspectives, I guess.
You call this scene intense? What about the bar scene in the Nebraska episode in season 2?
2:24 when your family goes to McDonald's and forgets to get you something...
lmao
Lol yeah
Kkkk
Master Of Disguise lol
Mom procedes to kill me with machete
0:38 when Rick emerges from the shadows, that shit is badass
agreed
This scene is just incredible
Even Rick's comrades look at them in complete shock and horror
The only two people who weren't phased were Michone and Abraham. They were 100% onboard.
@@chillendeummm Sasha was literally gutting that man 😭😭😭
@@lilcobe829 I meant in the aftermath. Having said that I forgot to include Rick. Sasha was trippin' over what she and others had done and Rick had to set her straight like, nope, coulda been us. He clearly didn't need to say that to Michone or Abraham who were just like 'Welp... them's the breaks.' 🤷♀🤷♂
Tyreses face! Lol well we all know who the savages are of the group. Rick, Michonne, Sasha and Abraham
Zeezee4me can't forget Carol and Daryl
Rip Abraham. He was the man. I think I was in the minority of people who were sadder over his death.
Zeezee4me 2 of them are dead RIP SASH AND ABE
AND DARYL
Abraham :(
"It's just four walls and a roof." > immediately switches to a view of the building that shows 7 separate walls.
GT: Streaker Sloth lol.
Those are inside walls, Rooms, but I get it
I know it’s late too
@@DellSubi also its a metaphor gabriel says this is a house of god, and maggie points out how this is just 4walls and a roof, so just a house.
Your comment is pointless and you didn't understand her irony
2:57 when Rick said "I already made you a promise" was pointing on s5 ep1 when Gareth asked Rick what was inside the bag that was hidded in the woods? And Rick said "some weapons and machette with red handle... That's what I'm gonna use to kill you" And that actually happened DAMN!!!
No shit lol
One of my favourite details from this scene is Micchone's tired expression when picking up her sword again. The sword always represented something she didn't want to be, a fighter, a killer, etc. Micchone only ever wanted to go back to being a mother and to live in peace again
"We didn't want to waste the bullets" I swear, season 5 Rick was the most badass character I've ever seen in all forms of media
3:27 me after watching this scene
LMAO
@MelloYellow308 lame
@MelloYellow308 🤦🏿♂️
🤧
3:27 me sneaking outta the function when I realize there's no hoe's
3:01 That shaking of fear she had. I wonder how many people showed her the same exact shaking
Rick is definitely not the best character😐
@@zell06 yes he is
@@zell06 Best.
Rick and Negan. Optimus Prime versus Megatron.
I can imagine the fear in Gareth 😂
Gareth: “You could’ve killed us when you came in...”
Rick: “We didn’t want to waste the bullets.”
Gareth: ......shit...
He saw that red handle and he said “oh shit he wasn’t lying” 💀💀
Gareth don't deserve mercy. He was so smug and merciless at Terminus. Then tried again to kill them. Reap the whirlwind.
The only reason he kept Gareth alive for as long as he did was to hear him beg for his life
Their screams bring me great joy
For me, this goes down as one is the most brutal, savage, and most satisfying scenes in the series
The tense background music, the lighting, the talking in deep voices- everything just fits together perfectly and makes this scene so tense and thrilling. I was literally on the edge of my seat when I first watched this a few years ago.
"Besides. I made a promise." Saying that before killing him exactly like he said he would was gold
Negan is smart, better of rick like leader...the governor is pure evil,,more of negan....
It wasn't murder
And after them eating bobs leg in front of him @@KillerInstinct-ch5oj
They had to. You heard what Garrett said at the beginning of that episode. Those cannibals would never let them alone.
This is such an iconic scene but what makes it funny is seeing Tyreese, Tara, Glenn and Maggie’s reaction and the sheer horror of what they saw 😂
Plus, if you go to 3:18 and you have the subtitles on, you’ll see the caption under Tyreese’s face saying “Damn son”. I absolutely died of laughter seeing that 🤣 🤣
🤣🤣🤣 ayooo. The "damn son" killed me
It’s because at this time they’re usually better than the monsters they’ve killed. They easily could’ve shot them all, but they decided to kill then brutally
@@meurumtrain4747 They didn't want to waste bullets
Also, it's very well deserved
It's different than whats in the comic where rick, andrea, Abraham and michonne go to do it and Gabriel is the only witness, here it's a very public thing where everyone is a witness
I think this is the moment that broke Tyreese. The world is f**ked and this is what it’s come to. His sister is brutally killing someone… I think during his death scene with the radio… he just wanted it all to stop it was too much that’s why he says turn it off
I always thought the best villains on this show were the ones who didn't out stay there welcome. Gareth, Joe, Tomas, Alpha wolf.
"No point in begging right?"
Rick looks deeply in his eyes. In a calm voice.
"No"
That I'd baddassery asf
“This is the Lords house.”
Is that what you told the people you locked outside as they starved and were ripped apart by Walkers?
My all time favourite TWD moment, the power in Rick's voice 'Drop your guns on the floor and KNEEL'
"Put your guns on the floor and kneel"
I like how Tyreese just backs into the room like "Nope".
Tyrese was like " crazy white people"
@@billbates5475 wasn't his own sister just as crazy as everyone? And Michonne?

Rick is such an awesome protagonist. I have never seen a character like this on any show. He’s not weak, he’s a true leader, If any of you can recommend a show with a character like rick, let me know i would love to see!!
