Daryl thought it would be so easy because if things he's been through but other people have been through equally terrible stuff because they have survived this long. That's the same arrogance jesus had when got killed in the cemetery. Peace has cost you your strength. Victory has defeated you.
That's not really the point since this scene was just suppost to showcase how much trouble le beta is capable of causing even for a main lead like Daryl. You can quite literally see how shocked his face looks, like he was in over his head trying to match up against beta.

I was thinking the character was a professional wrestler. They usually hire big people to be wrestlers. If this actor wasn't available I could actually see Mark Calaway ak undertaker playing this character. He dose have the right personality.
It also shows how strong Beta is. He was pushing daryl to his absolute limit. Before Beta fell down the shaft he was throwing daryl around like a rag doll and I think even Daryl knew he can’t physically overpower Beta so he had to rely on outmaneuvering him.
this video is straight up perfect. Edition, sound effects, music choice. All its elements are so well put together that at first i thougth this was all from the original show, then i go check it and discover that this is just a separate edition of that scene. You really did an amazing job, and if this was aired exactly like this in the show it would be as professional as it can be, well done

Beta is a frickin juggernaut. He went right through a wall, caught a wooden block getting thrashed at by Daryl, who is pretty strong, and didn’t even get fazed when getting stabbed or surviving a fall down a elevator
Couldn't agree more, I still remember when Shane had Daryl in a chokehold and told him to file a complaint against him for doing so, Shane wouldn't be able to that now.

People often talk about Daryl's "plot armor" in this scene but... Idk. Maybe I'm being fooled by his coat, but... Beta doesn't look like he is as proportionately strong as Daryl is. He is tall, he has more reach.. But he also seems to be a rather slow and clumsy fighter, and he seems to be "strong" but not "super strong".
I still gotta go Beta's handhold. One forward facing (thrusts and swipes), and one rear facing (defense along with my forearm, and surprise swipes + attacking someone behind you with half a turn) Edit: Bonus for being able to switch hamdholds, mid fight
At the start of their fight, for some reason, I can hear Merle egging his little brother on. "What's wrong buttercup, gonna let some punk outdo you? In front of me?". I feel as if Merle was preparing Daryl for moments just like this

Daryl and Merle probably had loads of people like Beta during their Normal life, They were both unsepereable and that made them Strong, growing under abuse, hanging out with though Guys and drug dealers etc. Daryl was from the Start different than the rest, he was born for this World, while the others had to adapt. All he learned was social interaction and loss.

When he got up after falling down the elevator shaft was the point I realized, this is the most dangerous man in the entirety of The Walking Dead. ...and his death was glorious.

I really love the story around Beta, his character to me felt like the first main boss of the story, dude is gigantic and clearly can tank a beating before dying while also managing to be eerily loyal to alpha all while whispering nonstop so no one recognizes who he is. Those things coupled with the scene of him accepting his death after being blinded make his character one of the creepiest characters portrayed in tv or film for me personally. Dead Space horror type vibes from Beta. Great show.
For the people saying "plot armor" It is a true thing, but with this scenario the outcome actually makes sense. Betas main objective was to get Lydia and Daryl was the one person who knew where she was. If he would have killed him, he wouldn't be able to get information on Lydia. Daryl had the biggest advantage of them all in a realistic scenario, Leverage.
You totally should! I was ready to quit at season 8, but season 9 has really brought life back into the show, you should give it a go, the new show runner actually knows what she's doing lol

I’d rather Merle lived and Daryl died at the hands of the governor. Merle still had a shit ton of development potential, whereas Daryl reached his in season 3.
Beta surviving that stab and that fall is possible, however daryl surviving a fight with beta is highly unlikely knowing everything beta can do and how skille he is, also beta is twice the size of daryl and twice as big with stronger punches and sheer strength
Beta is an absolute beast. Not many can man handle Daryl like that. Only one. The only reason Daryl won sort to speak is because he knew about the elevator shaft were Beta didn't.

imo the fight itself with beta and daryl was too choreographed and feels too artificial. They fight like they're in a cheesy action film movie with all the unnecessary spins and the reverse knife grip. It's like they were trained to professionally fight instead of a gritty and messy fight 2 people who survived the apocalypse would. I still like this fight tho because it showed daryl's cleverness and wit.
@@toragic3432 yeah the Whisperer arc was a bit gimmicky but I love it regardless. Besides, I don't think this fight would've worked in a realistic manner because of the massive size difference in Daryl and Beta. The show usually depicts fights as messy and brutal (Rick vs. Shane, Gov vs. Michonne, Negan vs. Simon) but I guess they took some liberties here lol
@toragic3432 I think that's wrong, both characters were already far more developed in hand to hand combat beyond most other capable humans, they had to demonstrate it as though these were professional fighters as they would be more focused and precise

One of the best fight scenes I've seen in TWD. Daryl Dixon is one of my favourite characters. He is the guy you want on side during a zombie apocalypse.
He was joking but his fans aren't there was literally thousands of people back in s1 saying that if they killed him off they would roit I guess that's why his characters not dead yet because you know people now days are fked in the head people legit be fighting over sauce from a cartoon show and toilet rolls so if they killed his character off only god knows how many inaccent people would lose their lives that same day

So in a world without antibiotics or any other kind of actual medical care, where a man is wearing decaying flesh and obviously doesn't practice any kind of cleanliness or even has access to toilet paper, he gets stabbed twice, cut, has multiple flesh wounds, and falls down an elevator shaft, and is basically okay enough to stand up and climb out if said elevator shaft, heal himself, and then continue on as if nothing else happened. Okay.
Why is everybody complaining about the fight choreography? What is so wrong with it? These people aren't trained fighters,its not like they were trained by bruce lee or some guy from the army or CIA before the apocalypse begun. What your looking at is a pure streetfight. Ofcourse they fight ugly. If you want a good looking,obviously chronographed fight scened,then go watch ironfist instead. This fight is dope because its very natural. No bullshits.
Exactly!! See, that's what I love about it! Granted, theres a couple little details that could've been improved, but overall this fight scene was fucking amazing. The raw brutality of it is what made it so fucking badass!
I was with you right up until Iron Fist. Those fight scenes leave much to be desired. now Into The Badlands? That is blatantly choreographed, but it looks incredible. or even The Raid.
Camera is too jumpy. They cut way too much. And some of the cuts are kinda messy. Like 2:05 Beta just swings and then we see Daryl roll into the wall. Let us SEE Beta hit Daryl and then him fly through a wall. It was enjoyable though.
I stopped watching it when beth got killed but stop In every now at then I watch I think most of season 8 and majority of season 9 currently Negan is my favourite

I really love the story around Beta, his character to me felt like the first main boss of the story, dude is gigantic and clearly can tank a beating before dying while also managing to be eerily loyal to alpha all while whispering nonstop so no one recognizes who he is. Those things coupled with the scene of him accepting his death after being blinded make his character one of the creepiest characters portrayed in tv or film for me personally. Dead Space horror type vibes from Beta. Great show.

It is a true thing, but with this scenario the outcome actually makes sense. Betas main objective was to get Lydia and Daryl was the one person who knew where she was. If he would have killed him, he wouldn't be able to get information on Lydia.

They fight like they're in a cheesy action film movie with all the unnecessary spins and the reverse knife grip.
It's like they were trained to professionally fight instead of a gritty and messy fight 2 people who survived the apocalypse would.
I still like this fight tho because it showed daryl's cleverness and wit.

Besides, I don't think this fight would've worked in a realistic manner because of the massive size difference in Daryl and Beta. The show usually depicts fights as messy and brutal (Rick vs. Shane, Gov vs. Michonne, Negan vs. Simon) but I guess they took some liberties here lol
@toragic3432 I think that's wrong, both characters were already far more developed in hand to hand combat beyond most other capable humans, they had to demonstrate it as though these were professional fighters as they would be more focused and precise

These people aren't trained fighters,its not like they were trained by bruce lee or some guy from the army or CIA before the apocalypse begun. What your looking at is a pure streetfight. Ofcourse they fight ugly. If you want a good looking,obviously chronographed fight scened,then go watch ironfist instead. This fight is dope because its very natural. No bullshits.
