I remember when he returned, and I said: "HEY! It's.....DUDE!"
Even the writers knew it, they had to have Rick LITERALLY and VERBALLY confirm who "Dude" was, and where he came from.
Because he was a meme of the hardcore fan base. No casual viewer remembered him. I have 2 examples of that with my mom and girlfriend who had no idea who he was
I don’t get why morales is blaming rick when he’s the one who chose to leave for Birmingham when Rick and Shane both him not to go.
Exactly. They chose a city very likely filled with large amounts of walkers instead of an actual government prepared building that might've contained a cure
He’s not blaming him. He’s just telling him who he is now. He’s Negan and he’s ready to kill him…
He’s not blaming birmingham on rick, he’s just fully under negan’s spell, negan gave morales a sense of purposes & rick’s revolt is gonna destroy that purpose in his eyes
That was Daryl getting paid back on Morales for taking that weapon and ammo from them in season 1 LOL
At least Shane had some morals but he did whatever it took to survive
Shane would've never been in this position
@@The_King_Of_Leeches Yeah cause hes dead.
It was his obsession with Lori that was his downfall
he had some Morales
@@m4sterb1rdshane wasn’t as smart as people think he is.
He should have let rick go
To be honest when he came back I didn’t recognize him….
If only Morales stayed with Rick and them...Things would've been very different...His family would still be alive...
What makes you think that? Out of the atlanta group only 3? are still alive.
@aalstraatgang5827 Maybe he would've stayed with the group until Rick pointed him and his family in the right direction let's say...Before The Governor fucked everything up at the Prison Rick and Them was hold up in...Maybe he and his family would've found Alexandria...But that's all in in my head...He's dead now...He lost everything, including his life...🫤
pretty sure Morales whole family would’ve died either way… from the farm being overrun, to the prison going through 2 wars and a deadly sickness, and then dealing with the wolves in alexandria aswell as the horde, it’d be a damn miracle if him and his young kids survived
Or maybe his children could get Rick's group more trouble
Like how sophia wasted their time and resources
I doubt It
man, Daryl did NOT like morales. lmao
Well, daryl was a asshole back then
To be fair he saw Rick being held at gun point so ofc Daryl did what he needed to do.
I think he was listening in to the conversation and only took the shot when it was clear Rick wasn’t going to get through to Morales. He said he knew who it was and I doubt he’d recognize him that quickly after how long it’s been
tbf daryl liked no one in the atlanta camp at first
6:46 Rick isn’t scared and stuttering because of the gun, he is scared for what’s behind Morales…
4:13 anyone noticed that he forgot to Mention Sophia, Dale and especially T-Dog
He didn't there's just no point to mention everyone's name to someone who'se holding a firearm at you
And Jim and Jackie
@@gthomasig well i think Morales knew that Jim died, since he was still there when Jim got Bit. But yeah even i forgot about jackie 😅
The actor playing morales posted a bunch of stuff over the years nodding at the fact he wanted to come back, even a video of him holding the bat he had in the Atlanta camp and something about he’d deal with negan swiftly, then gets asked to return to get a bolt to his temple within 2 mins 🤣
One thing I miss in the earlier season was that the shots weren’t as cinematic looking. It felt raw and real. After S5 things started looking too color graded with cinematic shots to really hold onto that feeling of real people in a real apocalypse
Very good observation actually
I met morales at a convention. Very nice guy. We chatted for 20 minutes. I'd like to see him in more shows
I remember being already burned out by S5, giving S6 a chance, trudging through S7, and all my interest in the show was basically gone by S8. When I saw Morales come back after all the memes, listen to his story which amounted to nothing, and then get killed off like 5 minutes after, that sealed the deal for me that the good writing was gone or if there ever was any. I would hear from others how the story continued to go and holy hell did I not miss much after.
burned out in season 5? damn
@@janek338Those Beth episodes took a lot to get through
@@RhapsodosWarbandshe basically killed herself for no reason
@@RhapsodosWarband An episode to an episode to get through? The audacity.
@@exiledhebrew1994Beth did not know Dawns gun was loaded so it’s not her fault. She was trying to save Noah b/c Beth knew if Dawn lived and Rick and CO took Beth back but left Noah. Beth knew Dawn would then probably torture Noah and make it impossible to leave the hospital ever again and Noah would have become dawns slave.
The way he clenched his jaw when mentioning Glenn..... :'( But for real though, this reunion was super unexpected.
The fact Rick was able to keep his group alive until meeting Negan with a few exceptions is a testament to how great of a leader he was and became.
Why do either one of these people remember each other in such great detail? I completely phased out during this scene and missed out on the fact it was a cameo
They were connected during a traumatizing time in their lives. Surprised this has to be explained to you, who I assume is a fully grown adult.
It was probably like 6 or 7 years later, not like it's 30. And I'm sure they think about each other often.
This scene was about two years into the apocalypse
@@salvadormartinez8577 Ouch, forgive us inferior children we had no idea such a brilliant intellectual was in our comment section.
To be fair, it took Rick a few moments to remember Morales' name after he said "hi, Rick."
Man hearing these kids die and seeing Sophie die was depressing
Why are people so pissed about morales?? This guy was never a major character. Idk why so many of you loved to pretend that he was such an important character when he wasn’t
Nostalgia
Because he was part of the OG group even if it was only for a couple of episodes. Not to mention him, Rick, Carol, and Daryl were the only ones that were still alive of that group. So yeah bringing him back 7 seasons later just to kill him off immediately seemed ridiculous.
Office friendly over here
Nostalgia pretty much , he was part of the original group
I totally agree with you...i had to ask my daughter sitting beside me "who's he" lol I think Daryl stepped up because it was a kill or be killed situation...dozy hole Rick was a bit slow there 😂😂😂😂
Daryl was right on what he said. He made his choice.
The one semi true thing he said was that somewhere along the way officer friend died
i love how TWD lets actors do their thing. they look like theyre having so much fun in their roles
It's sad to think that Rick didn't mention
T Dog
Dale
Vi
Jim
Sophia
Vi?! Vi was the AI at the CDC, not a person. On top of that, Morales and his family left before they even got to the CDC, so Morales never "met" Vi anyway. Jim was also already bit before Morales left, so he knew Jim was dead. You also seem to have missed Jacqui in your list...
@SJKNOL ah you're right I got Vi and Jacqui mixed up
He said vi lol the cdc ai what a nincompoop
@ezioauditore8946 already acknowledged my mistake, what a useless comment
@@reisetylerI think he already knew Jim died because he was still there when Jim got bit
5:28 He makes it sound like Rick didn't feel the same about him.
Man that music and sound effects you can't beat it 👑
He is acting like it's Rick's fault he made a stupid decision.
Regardless of how brief his appearance is, this scene is a 10/10
@ Nick eh 30
Morales acting as if Rick is the reason he made the decision to leave the Atlanta group
Couldn’t defend his family, couldn’t see a villain. Some Morales he had, ha had.
“I got to do what’s best for my family”
*riiiiiiiigghht*
Darryl was cold as ice here
I love the emphesis on glen its like " home boy you knew him before me in atlanta and this how he got did in homie by your leader , im telling you rn to tell me whats up " 💯🤣
They were scraping the barrel with this return
He left cause he knew Rick couldn’t protect his family and they still got killed anyway terrible decision
Yeah i just, dont vibe with how anyone from the saviors has to be a evil person. Morales being in means oh yeah hes completely loyal to them, but then we introduce alden as the singular exception anyway!
I can enjoy season 7 and 8 but hoo, that’s not a aspect i like
Alden isn't the only savior that turned good. Laura was a top lieutenant of Negan's and she was brutally killed by Beta because she tried to protect a member of our group from him. There weren't many, but there were a few saviors who turned good not just Alden. And of course there's Dwight.
I mean it was already shown that not all Saviors were bad people, some of them felt they had no choice to survive among other reasons.
@@LMG3000-s8f "turned good" isn't the right thing to say. If we were watching the show from other perpective, we would find Rick's group as the evil villain because let's face it - Rick and others killed people in their sleep regardles of who they were. We're soft for Rick because we follow him from the start. He's a great character but he's flawed as much as Negan was at that time.
@@LMG3000-s8fAnd DJ
@@breakingmiraino one in the TWD universe is good well maybe Hershel and Eastman, Judith, RJ and Tyreese but Rick and CO were villains to other groups. We were just conditioned to root for Rick and co from the moment we meet Rick and the rest of the group.
This whole part of the episode was straight chills
"Do you know who that was?"
Yeah. A dead man.
Good thing his wife was gone negan would have made her his wife
Fun fact, only a few months passed between the time they were in Atlanta and the war with the Saviors.
No, its actually 2 years.
7:17 Press X to skip dialogue
I am glad he came back but also, him being mad like he is was kind of hacky lol
Season 8 sucks fat balls and I remember hating this scene when it came out but rewatching it I kinda like how cold it is that Daryl just takes him out and doesn’t care about the prior connection lol
Season 7 and 8 are super underrated imo. If you binge watch them, they’re actually really solid.
Morales is spot on. Yeah Rick would have tried for a second to work things out, but at the end of the day it wouldn’t have.
Looks like a lot of people didn't get it. He isn't blaming Rick for anything. They are just two men pushed to the limit by the worst conditions.
I'm pretty sure his return is Reflect on who this man once a dad with family is now gone just like rick
What I wanna know is why Rick accused Negan of killing all the people he had mentioned, and then going back to just talking about Glenn’s death.
talking like Rick was the one that told him to go off on his own..could've been so much more lol
I've watched this episode last year and I had no idea I would ever see that Morales character I haven't seen him since season 1 like he said that was a long time ago
Man i wished Morales was with negan at the Lineup and maybe survivet but he could die in the whisperer arc killed by Beta
If morales wasn’t as crazy with the saviors etc and pull a gun on Rick but honestly I never realized Morales’s was a with the saviors that’s how he survived so his family died then he found the saviors which kept him alive
The purpose of this scene is to show the audience what can happen when the world goes to hell and years pass. Friends become enemies, enemies become friends, lovers become nobodies, This scene shows how a family man can turn on his oldest friends in order to survive.
If I had a nickle for every member of the Atlanta group, eventually sided with the enemy, I'd have 2 nickels.
Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
3, daryl rick and carol sided with jadis to try and take out the saviours but got backstabbed
Omg....SO HEART WRENCHING
Morales returns and dies 5 minutes later
Daryl did the right thing there was no going back for Morales he may as well gave been just another red shirt
I’m still pissed that they brought Morales back only for Daryl to kill him in the next episode!
When you realize Sophia’s doll in season 2 was actually not even hers but a gift from the other girl
Thats not Morales. Thats Negan
At the end of the day, he had the chance to put the gun down. Rick made no attempts to attack him.
My favorite character. Wish they'd done more with him.
Seriously...? An insignificant side character who only appeared in 6 episodes was your favorite...? Wow. Okay.
How?
if we get a morgan spin off with him finding rick a flashback of him finding rick i hope we see that exact same car but aged obvs nice little omarge to the good times
Welcome to town, helicopter boy!
Morales was mistake. He wasnt like Rick, but Daryl Was like Morales. and Daryl never hesitates
Having him return made no sense, a l lot of people didn't remember him, he did nothing to move the plot along. Had he been around more than 3 minutes maybe the writers could've done something with him. What a waste.
This was a sweet ass call back
Damn i wish he would’ve lost respect for Negan and joined them. Especially considering there could’ve been a plot about how negan stole his wife from him to keep as one of his many wives
Wait Morales was heading west to Birmingham from Atlanta, the Saviors operate in northern Virginia. How did he get so far off course to end up multiple states off from where he was intending to go.
I believe that after Morales lost his family, he didn't stay in one place and kept moving until a group of saviours found him and brought him to Negan.
Morales joining negan was his biggest mistake and not choosing Rick’s side in the end he’s a idiot
Sellout he was inn season 1 even Shane and Daryl didn't trust that piece of shit he always was looking out for himself he was selfish he only cared about his family and not inn ah good way
Real question, who holds their firearm with their weak hand BELOW the mag well?
People who watch too much TV
Anybody else just have doubts believing they would recognize each other? I mean that's a long time and it's not like they spent a lot of time together
You'd be surprised how long people remember a face, put a name to thay face, especially if they had a positive relationship with that person.
@@SOak145 Fair enough. Sometimes I have trouble remembering faces myself but I guess if I saw them in person it may all come back
this scene actually reminds me a lot of Rick in TOWL . which now makes this scene not to bad but i think it would have still been cool to have morales back for at least season 8
Morales was right if Rick was the one holding the gun he wouldn’t have hesitated to shoot him Rick was in a dark spot in season 7 only thing keeping him away from being to far gone was his group and family without Daryl, michone and Judith Rick wouldn’t have lived very long
Morales had other Morals
“Officer Friendly” 💀💀💀💀
Damn- the Officer Friendly Callback got me a little nostalgic-
