As a lifelong student of design, I love seeing the ways in which designers use small but critical elements to tie their product/logo to the real-world. In this case, the ink window-porthole is such a cool idea!

Thanks for the detailed review (I think yours is the first on YT for this new Narwhal model--kudos!) of this interesting fountain pen. I have three Narwhals--an Original, a Schuykill and a Key West--and I love their designs, colours and big smooth nibs, so I'd be pleased as punch to add a Nautilus to my collection. There's a Pineider LE that has six portholes (two sets of three vertical portholes) but I prefer the three that go around the Nautilus' barrel. Anyway, thanks for reviewing this new Narwhal so quickly. I was dying to see how it looked in action!

The porthole design is just a very nice touch! Love the nautical theme. I've always liked a bit of flair at the end of the section; keeps my fingers away from the nib. Overall, I find this design to be understated yet eyecatching at the same time. I like all the details included; real creative thought went into this fountain pen.

What a unique looking pen! Both versions look great, and I really like how the portholes aren't just directly across from one another. Like you said, just two would have looked like a hole was just punched in the pen. Narwhal is just a really cool brand and I really like they do pretty much everything in-house.

The bronze version instantly reminded me of a book I loved as a teenager - J. Verne's "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas". The shape, the treatment instead of just a polished decors, the portholes, the overall feel. Such a pen with a BB nib will be something I should remember around Black Friday...

I love every fountain pen that lets me see the ink. I think it's always the best part of any demonstrator pen and any other kind of pen that interacts with its ink in this kind of way always fascinated me. There is simply something extremely satisfying of seeing it swish around inside the barrel or somewhere else and kinda also plays with the fact that there are different colors playing off the pen.
