- SR 35018 British India Line was at the helm of the 2nd Waverley railtour of 2021 from York to Carlisle over the famous Settle & Carlisle Railway . We first see 35018 near Gargrave taking it steady in strong windy conditions . After the water stop at Hellifield the Merchant is seen climbing towards Ribblehead at a dry but blustery Selside Shaw . The return leg sees 35018 going like the clappers at Langwathby . Thanks to Nige for the company and laughs .
Another challenging day Steve but luckily alright when it mattered, definitely hammering along on the return 👍
Thanks Nige , we were lucky in the end even after a soaking lol 😂
Another super video Steve, well done for braving the weather. Nice performance from the MN. 🤓
Thanks Anthony, steady climb Northbound and a fast run back so that was good 👍
Steve, Great captures in challenging weather conditions. Regards, John
Thanks John, typical S&C day weather wise 😂🎥
Excellent shots!
Thanks Leslie, much appreciated 👍
An overdose today. Thanks Steve
Thanks Jim , we aim to please 👍🎥
Brilliant video Steve. BIL was performing well through the station. Ii looked a very windy day. Great filming in those conditions. Kind regards C&A
Thanks C&A, a day of two halves weather wise but all in a day out 👍
That wind didn't make life any easier - or did it? - it cleared the rain which was heavy and persistent around the border in the morning. Good stuff, Steve.
Thanks Tim , the wind did move the rain clouds fast but still got soaking in the field at Selside.
Good stuff.
Great video Steve :)
Thanks Simon 👍
Good stuff Steve, going well at Langwathby but not impressing the cattle!
Thanks Austin, glad we weren’t in the field with the cows when the scattered ☹️
excellent shots of 35018 👍i hope they do another tour from London Victoria on a Saturday after i missed it last time round
Thanks Barry, fingers crossed for you 🤞
So good that you and Nige capture the majesty of steam power during the wind and rain.
Well done young man!
Thanks Jon , we try our best to produce decent quality shots 👍
Going very demurely at Selside! Was she early there? Going well at Langwathby, though :)
Thanks Alan , on time nearly but just a steady climb with wet rails perhaps 🤔
Great stuff…though I counted load 11, in reference to the clip title.
Thanks Trevor, yes I counted wrong so changed the title 😂
@@TheStephengthompson I think you’d already changed it actually Stephen, but it was still showing ‘load 12’ on the notifications…how pedantic am I? I clearly have too much time on my hands! Great clip as usual. 🙂
Helluva load.
Thanks Roy 👍
I just love the Bulleid pacifics, but 11 on over the S&C isn't so exceptional. Jubilees and rebuilt Scots used to do thay day in, day out, but my personal high point was in 1956 when we took the up Waverley from Carlisle behind a well-worn Jubilee "Eire" with no less than 13 on. I clearly remember it was a bit of a struggle up the final few miles up Mallerstang to Ais Gill with speed well down and every double-three beat barking out slowly but strongly all the way.
Thanks Roy , your very right as 11 wasn’t much compared to the Jubilee today with 13 on 👍
Good one Steve. Another grey, blustery day in the fells brightened by the sight (and sound) of steam. Like the reverse curves - but then I like it all! Take care - Chris
Thanks Chris, always good to see steam on the S&C even though we got a soaking ☹️☔️
Excellent Stephen, nice catch over the viaduct and good snaking shot at Langwathby. Cheers.👍
Thanks David, got wet at Selside but all in a days filming 😂
