Great recipe. I put the raw ribs in a heavy metal pan, cut in half "same seasonings" and rinsed sauerkraut on top of the ribs. I add a cup of chicken Bone broth and wrap the top of the metal pan in foil and bake at 285 for 3 1/2-4 hours. This was my go to when my Mom made it back in the 80's.. Great Job my man... Love your style.
I've been eating Ribs and Sauerkraut almost 60 years. You did a great job. Mom and now I, add thin sliced Onion, chopped Garlic and Bay leaves in the Sauerkraut. Adds a lot of flavor. Im enjoying your channel.
I love this recipe. I learned how to make this from my friend’s dad that grew up in Germany and was a chef. He told me to make it just like this, except at the end before serving he put the kraut in a hot skillet and scalded it a little before putting on top of the ribs. It’s pretty good like that as well. I make this a couple other ways and always turns out fantastic. I like adding dill and potatoes to it.
Damn that makes me hungry. No ribs on hand, but I have some kraut and all beef franks that are going in a small saucepan in the oven as soon as I hit enter. Happy New Year!
At 72, I had never heard of this before this New Year holiday. Seems everyone in the country was doing it. I love kraut and I love ribs. Kraut and ribs? That doesn't seem right, but it's gotta be. I'll have to take a run at it. Good one, Matt.
Great vittles! I gotta try this. Just a little twist, if you have time. Fire up your grill to high, season your ribs as you see fit, 4 min a side to sear, then take over with your method H2. Think you'll enjoy that.
Your daughter looks just like your wife! We love kraut with cut up weenies. While watching this, I had to go get me a big fork-full of kraut from the fridge!
I love the Babyback and the St. Louis style ribs and cook them on the grill, but lately I have cooked some in the Instant Pot and finished off in the oven broiled for about 10 minutes and using the barbeque sauce which came with my chicken wings from Schwan's Home Delivery service since I have plenty of that sauce. The ribs comes out perfect and so delicious also when not left in the oven too long.
Man, no Cheerwine? Must be your outdoor beverage. You got this dude from Chicago looking into ordering some. Already grabbed some Duke's mayo. Great job and an excellent looking meal. Wife and I are big fans!
Pretty sure I could do the same cook on one of my Blackstones. I did Corned Beef and Cabbage for New Years on my 28" Combo. Everything turned out delicious. Also did my cornbread on Blackstone.
Love this, love you! You are such an incredible person. The love that is so obvious you have for your family and for Jesus is amazing! Also, Hungry Wife is beautiful! Mar-bear looks just like her
Never thought of doing Sauerkraut with ribs, gonna have to give this a try, but will try doing it in my smoker cause I love adding smoke flavor to everything 😋. Probably a apple wood. Or peach wood if I can get it otherwise Sauerkraut might get overpowered by the smoke. Need mild wood flavor for this😉
Hey Hussey! Never tried ribs and sauerkraut before. Looks good with the meat flavoring e sauerkraut. Great to see an appearance by Maggie. Stay healthy!
Did you ever fry sauerkraut? My mom used to squeeze all the juice off and then heat the cast iron up and put some bacon grease in there and then fry the kraut till it was brown . It was delicious! Anyway, I started doing it on my blackstone and its awesome !
YOOOOOOOOOOOO HH!! I found some of that Cheerwine at our local Savemart Store. Yo....it reminds me of cherry flavored Dr. Pepper bro. Hmmmm, It's AIGHT! lol. I'm just happy I tried something thats popular on the East Coast and something that HH loves so much. . But as a West Coast Cali guy...may I recommend you try this mexican drink called Sangria Senoral. It's in a glass bottle. Look it up. Yo, made of pure cane sugar like Cheerwine. You might like it bro. All the way from the West Coast, you got me SPRUNG!!
I think the reason that the cooking time was different is because one was on the top rack and the other on the bottom ...the bottom is closer to the heating element
Interesting. Is this a regional or cultural influence? The closest thing I have ever seen to this is kielbasa and kraut that the Polish people have blessed us with in my area.
Haha. Don’t worry, I’ve cooked my fair share of ribs. This dish is mainly for the wife. I like it though too. She doesn’t want smoke as she wants it like she had it growing up.

I like the idea of crisping the kraut up a little at the end. Good stuff. Thanks for watching!
