I have that same wastegate, same color too. Lol
Mine works really good. The taller "14 lb" spring coil binds, and only lets the gate valve open 1/4", so with that spring in there it boost creeps.
With the shorter, wider spring, the valve has more travel and holds boost very steady.
I'm incredibly happy with mine for the $50-ish dollars I spent on it.
You can check if yours is binding easily, put a big socket on a bench, put the valve on top of it, and push down on the top. With the taller stiffer spring, mine will only move 1/4", then stop.
Good info. Thank you! I was actually planning to just run on the 7lb springs and use a 4port to let the holly up the boost from there.
@badluckgarage These should work perfect for that. My "7lb" spring held base pressure right at 6.5psi, I bought another lighter, smaller spring that does not bind, and am running that and the 7lb spring together for a base pressure of 9.5psi.
If space gets tight on the ports, the top of the gate is clockable too, it is held on with 3 bolts so you have 3 positions to choose from.
You have to take apart the top of the gate, really simple to do. I'm sure you can manage.
The diaphragm in these looks halfway decent too.

Nice.. I have a pair of the ebay 6161s as rear mount... made 575hp640tq on an l99, stock cam and springs.. 10 psi at 13 degrees. 11.4afr. You have tons of headroom on a 5.3 with those.

@@BadLuckGarage shouldnt have any problems.. I'm pushing mine in a few weeks after I break in my new engine.. hoping they will still ne efficient at 16psi.

I’ll be watching this series! I’m going twins soon too Same turbo I’ve got 4 of em 2 journal and 2 bb, They the i turbo’s aren’t they? I’m running one rear mount on a 3800v6 it’s not super quick but it’s given some more expensive vehicles a run even some bikes and it’s getting twin’s as soon as it’s got a trans that can handle 1 of em
And I highly recommend their ceramic ball bearing core it’s not bad! I had an oil line failure and killed the thrust bearing and the bb chra was too cheap not to try

Twin turbo setup you are going to knock it out of the park. I take it one day you're going to put nitrous on it. are you going to put the frogger just to take away the turbo lag and cut off after a certain PSI. or if you do run nitrous are you going to put the frogger where we always put it by the intake. also what sort of intercooler are you going to use Air or water intercooler.
I am looking forward to this build cannot wait this is going to be interesting. But would like to know where you're going to put your nitrous some people say spray the nitrous into the intercooler but I don't think so. plus are you going to use a water and methanol kit. I've seen great results as it brings inlet temperature and cylinder temperature right down and allows you to advance the timing hell of a lot. Let me no . plus let me know when you're back life love to catch up . take care my friend.
I think you got the right size turbos there yes in the end 84 flange but if he go too big you're lose power. The t3 is the right one . if you had only one turbo then hell yes t4/t5 but as you're running 2 I think you got the perfect setup .
It’s already got nitrous in it brother. I think you may have missed some videos! And I plan to leave one kit in it even after I turbo it this winter. 😉
@@BadLuckGarage when you put the frogger back on with the turbos do you put it in the same place or are you going to. I was with my turbo car or the Audi TT is Turbo charged but I was going to put the frogger by the intake or the throttle body. Is that still right place to put it. Yes i thibk i must mist a few vids. That blue Corvette man you kicked some ass with that car i not seen that one so it took me by surprise.

But u not put the turbo is on it yet have you because I thought that was going to be your next Project. where do you put the frogger when you are running turbos . Need help not to take away turbo lag also someone told me when you run turbos nitrous if you use 100 shot of nitrous because of the cooling effect and the turbos that 100 shot or 100 jetting will actually be 200 because of the turbo effect could you confirm that is right or is that bulshit
Next time look for bigger AR back housings ….example 1.25
These actually worked perfect as twins on the little 5.3. As you can see in the more recent videos this car at full weight(around 3400lbs) has been 5s already on only 17psi with these turbos and they spool instantly which is really nice when we're cruising it on the street. I plan to max them out this year and then we have a set of billet mirror image 67/62s that will be replacing them.

What size oil restrictor fid you ran on this turbos?
Im looking at these same turbos, if you had to guess, what is the physical diameter of the exhaust housing? Need to fit them in a small space. Thanks. Definitely following your build.
Honestly I have no idea what measurement you’re looking for. But if I had to fit the entire turbo in a very tight box, the box would be 10”x7”x8”.

Both springs would still only be 14 boss. I know I’m late.
Actually it wasn’t even that. The included springs ended up being about 3lb and 5lb spring respectively. Check out more recent videos for more info. 👍

See in the uk we have different names and different company so i blame it on that lol .and I've never understood a carburettor car. On a v8? No. These are way too small for a single. These are sized more for a large 4cyl or small V6 in a single turbo application.

@@BadLuckGarage thanks for the quick reply. I am debating on running twin gt35s on my daily ls3. Not trying to hit a ton of hp (around 800hp) so I am thinking these will work out well and the price is definitely nice.

How did the China ebay crap workout? I personally own a real 6466 and those are 100% knock offs. Cheap and performance doesn't blend together at all.
LMAO, Of course they're knockoffs. Thats the entire point. 😄 Hate to bust your bubble but they worked out great and are still working great a year later. Plenty of videos on this channel showing the install and runs on the street and at the track if you want to learn more. Thanks for watching.
