- Have you ever thought about buying a cheap ebay turbo kit? or maybe just a cheap turbo or turbo kit in general? Well in this video I go over a few basic things that I think anyone who is going to buy these turbo kits should know. I have had an cxracing turbo kit from ebay for almost a year now and with my experience with that along with a ton of research I want to help you guys understand "cheap turbos better"

We put an eBay tubro on our 2jz drift car and never had a problem car was tuned over 600hp and it’s still running strong today for 4 years.

Maxpeeding is the absolute best budget turbos. I run 54 trim on my Volvo 940 15psi at 350plus HP and it's great. They are guaranteed for 1 year and they also have now upgraded billet wheel and premium turbos too .

They are pretty cheap made but honestly a good price for what it is, you can always keep the kit and replace the Chinese turbos with a bigger one

Although the rest of the kit is usually worse than the turbo, no matter how good or bad the turbo is, it's still probably the best part of any kit

I’ve been running a knockoff td04 on my ej22e impreza for two years. It works quite well. Pulls 10psi no problem, but it does boost creep so I suggest a boost controller.
I also suggest porting them with a dremel if you can. I pulled the boost threshold down from 2900 rpm to 2600 rpm by porting the exhaust inlet.

Was ur eBay turbo a kit and was it just universal or specifically for ur Honda
@@George_fitness69 it was a ebay kit for eg civic,but nothing fit and everything was so crap i only used the intercooler+pipes, turbo and oil line. Its less in the long run to make your own kit. I strongly suggest using a hondata electronic boost controler. The manual one are 💩 and my tuner refused to tume my car with one.

Well... That does it for me. I was trying to compare the S366 to the GT35R and the S400 to the GT45R, for a project that I'm about to build. But then I saw the knock off, their price and my eyes went... O_O CHEAPPP!!! Then, looking for some info, get to see your video and the last thing I want to do is to be broke down on the middle of the street. Thanks for sharing.

My friends WRX with Ebay turbo has done 105,000km @ 18 psi all day everyday.
But he is running a BOV of course and correct oil 5w 30 and lets it run 2-3 mins after every drive to cool off.
How much did he pay
these crazy little things are actually cheaper than they were a few years ago, when basically nothing is. $300... and all i want is like 4 psi. i’m a little more worried about my engine going. i could just buy another turbo if a $300 one breaks. but i am very curious how much custom work i’m gonna have to do when it “bolts on” 2010 NA impreza btw

A friend of mine has had it in his k24 civic for almost 4 years now issues or cracking etc seems to run just fine just keep an eye on stuff and do oil changes etc on time also like a turbo timer wait 60-120 second parked before turning it off my friend also opens the hood to let everything cool down to normal temp running 12-13 psi of boost gt30-35 turbo i believe

Nice, but you could have talked about the risks that come with an ebay kit that fails. What is the danger to the engine? What usually is a failure point? How hard is it to source needed replacement parts? Should you buy a pro wastegate to mitigate boost creep? Any other parts should be upgraded and why?

Buy a cheap turbo to get you in the game, but save up for a higher grade turbo just in case the turbo fails.
Can you get a garage to fit your turbo kit for you?
I don’t really want to get an eBay universal but they don’t make a turbo for my car so I use what I can.
I ran a td04l at 18psi for over 3 years, sold the car 2 years ago and my mate still runs it and runs it hard
You have to change the oil restrictor or you will blew the oil seal.

I’m definitely lookin’ on the side of ebay turbos for my G37 coupe, I’m not racing it, I just want it to be a bit quicker than it is and have the sound. I might race it once in a blue moon but I’m not a fan of crashing or tickets lmao.

If it’s for fun & nothing crazy like drag racing from a dig at 1100whp it’s a good set up. Roll racing every now and again while keeping the boost under 20 should be fine for awhile honestly. Just don’t beat on it and expect it to last 4yrs metals do heat warp over time.

i bought an e bay turbo 8 months ago. it vwas a ko3 upgrade to ko4. p[aid £100. ive don14,000 mies on it and ith a stage 1 tune my a4 1.8t cabrio boosts 19 and max 21 psi. still going todayyu will let you know bnext week how i get on with my new turbo. ii ave ordered an os power £350 turbo from blaxckpantherr, arrives in a cvouple of days. iager wheel and all that stuff. i hopeand prey its ok . will post next wee

what if you buy an ebay turbo and prior to installation you pull it apart and look for defects, replace seals etc and get it rebalanced? Surely that will help?

It honestly does depend on the quality of the metal and welds etc. but essentially you can go that route and it has worked out for a lot of people.

Honest question. I'd be happy with 8lbs of boost. I'm not a street racer or hitting a drag strip. I'm gonna cruise and ever so often get down on it. I did find a more expensive kit. I don't know the name of the top of my head. But it runs about 1200 bucks on ebay. Question is. How long could I expect it to last with moderate driving with the occasional hard pull.

Spent 4 Years on my eBay turbo with a bad drain setup. It just recently went, got another coming Monday 👀 just don’t buy the cheapest, and stay within the boost range and you’ll be good

No BPV or BOV is the main killer os Turbos Ebay or not.
3" Turbo wheel running 15psi boost without BOV when throttle plate closes its no different to Wacking the turbine wheel with Rubber mullet using 45 pounds of force.
Do that a $2000 turbo and see how long it last also
I’m new to things in the engine. That’s where I get lost. But I want a turbo and since I’m so young. I’m 19. I don’t have a ton of money to just randomly spend. Is a cheap one a good starter one I can probably try? I’m a slow learner but it would be amazing to know what other car guys do

I’ve done both, so I get just sending it. Doing it again I won’t put junk turbo on a built motor. But by all means I won’t judge others for doing so. Sometimes you get lucky .

Believe it or not they’re less efficient than brand name turbos
I rather get a Garret, IHI, borgwarner, precision and turbonetics.
Because they run and spool up more efficiently than any other cheap turbos, more reliable as well.
So yeah you need to cough out the extra money if you want a good turbo car

Depends on how much power you want safely 10-15 psi through a ebay turbo is fantastic. If you wanna max your shit spend the money. Also be smart and see if you can diy your own downpipe other things intercooler intercooler piping you can god honestly save so much money doing that and you can often get better quality. Also for fuck sakes get a standalone and get it tuned dyno time really isn't that expensive and if your using common ecu emu company's like megasquirt haltech it's gonna be less time on the dyno and more on the road and saving more money
