@@TURBOTRISTO You can use the lack of a tachometer as an excuse to bang the limiter lol
@@fancykat9940 bang it all night long
@@TURBOTRISTO from one Civic guy/owner to another
You could run that on fairy dust and rag the fook off the limiter all day and night.
THIS IS THE CONTENT IM HERE FOR
Good to hear what do you think? This was 2 hours of film hacked down as much as possible I tried to stay exactly to the point
@@TURBOTRISTO thank you for this informative video! I am definitely not getting a rev9 Kit now! I’ll make my own kit out of proper parts! I might only really get an intercooler kit for the car.
@@eyoboyeegaming1187 that will be the best course of action
@@TURBOTRISTO For the map sensor issue. Run a missing link. That’s the old school way.
@@dw8730 I have heard that thank you
The check engine light comes on as a shift light on the civics without a tach. Yes it is a thing. Get a map sensor block plate. It will close when boost hits so the ecu doesn't blow codes. Turning up your fuel pressure does give you extra fuel each time the injectors pulse.
Thanks for watching man
Guage and a adj fpr 😅
I could hear just a bit of spool in higher RPM
Yeah the tiniest bit don’t worry I will be fixing this issue we have tracked down a fire ring for the waste gate so boosting will get sorted
This is the most informative videos on one of these infamous turbo kits. So moral of the story is avoid ebay kits and purchase something that will be more expensive but will be of a much higher quality
Yeah mate you are right for sure, I still believe you can turbo your civic on a budget , I just think these ‘kits’ although close enough aren’t ever really right, for the level of headache required to make them work and the extra unexpected costs, it’s better peace of mind just to piece together the parts yourself so if they don’t fit you can only blame yourself 😇😁🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🥰 thanks for your support my man , very wise words
If you use a ebay kit replace the parts known to fail. I bought a ebay kit replaced the blow off valve, Waste gate, fuel pressure regulator and boost controller. Ebay turbos are good but you can very easily get a shitty one. My car is built for 500hp on a ebay turbo and intercooler piping. Ive seen multiple cars here make 500whp on Ebay kits.
@@summ-tinng-wong so you basically kept only the turbo, intercooler and manifold from the kit?
pretty much
Ebay kits are only used to give you a demo.you have to upgrade to branded parts as you go..
This is the content we all strive for, keep up the great work.

Nice observation. I'm a fan too.
I like how he says "BAMPA" (bumper)
Lol it’s bumpah

Speaking from experience Honda’s are the easiest to boost the right way because of the affordable tuning interface with hondata, other makes require new harnesses and dedicated aftermarket engine management, but seriously rule of thumb it is always smart to rebuild the short block and rotating assembly and install forged rods and pistons, mls head gasket and arp stud for good clamping force, colder plugs, injectors and fuel pump, that is the minimum or you will vent the crankcase with a rod -you will always want to push the boost up so you might as well build the engine accordingly
couldnt agree more mate
Dude, love your channel. I'm glad I found you on the FB forum. Keep the content coming! Cheers from Ontario, Canada!
Wow thanks so much aussies love Canadians , very similar cultures! Thank you for watching and subscribing you legend!! I have heaps more things coming in the new year !
oil coming fromt the front of the turbo is due to the 2nd plate you put on there for the oil line. it needs to have a pin size hole or it will flood the turbo with oil. wastegate needs a fire ring which is why it was open at idle, reason for it not boosting. in my opinion. good video
It does it has a built in pin hole restrictor 😇
‘Wohan War Whistle Spinney Boy’. Perfect name for a turbo! Great video, thanks!

crank the fuel pressure up and give it little timing by moving the distributor
If it was mine I would, first step is to get a better waste gate and get the exhaust sorted then it will be fuel pump see how it goes .... it also needs new plugs

Without tuning the ecu, what you could do is place larger injectors 85% 100% + flow to run on gasolie and also a pump with a higher flow, disconnecting the vacuum intake from the fuel pressure regulator so that the pressure does not have variations, cold sparks. 10 psi boost stock internals
Thanks bro

With a tune, map sensor, injectors and wastegate upgrade this thing would be mad for around 3 grand
Correct I think you are right mate
the manifold is probably the only real thing of value in the kit, maybe the oil lines and tee too.

When I first bought my 97 EJ8 Civic coupe it had a JDM D15B VTEC block with a D16Y7 head (non-VTEC) and it was "running" on a P2P ECU (D16Y8 VTEC manual). I put a D16Z6 head (92-95 1.6L VTEC) on it, an eBay turbo kit, and I used an OBD2A to OBD1 step-down harness, and I used a P28 ECU (92-95 Civic 1.6L VTEC manual) that I socketed and chipped with a Xenocron kit and basemap for my setup. I also ran Mitsubishi Eclipse 440cc bluetop injectors. It was SO much fun to drive and pulled hard enough on 8 psi to beat modified WRXs and Mazdaspeed 3s. Not bad for a car that I had roughly $2000 into. I also had an AEM wideband to monitor air fuel ratios. Oh, and I still own that same car and it currently has a fully built LSVTEC turbo in it and it currently makes 612 whp.
Damn son what a beast ! That would fly you will love the next build video out on Monday

Bolt on a booster and 1" master from a prelude, the thing will stop like you wouldnt believe. you make it so easy to understand, thank you
Thank you bro please subscribe and share if you haven’t yet it would mean alot
I'd say a lot of the turbo issue would be due do not having the oil restrictor, to much pressure causing it to be a lot harder to spin
It was actually leaking from the wastegate check out part two of this series
@@TURBOTRISTO Was about to say this than saw you replied :D great catch
I was gonna do this to my 87 Ranger. Thanks for testing it lol
You are welcome man, you can still do it just order the parts individually
You dint read all the instructions... you are supposed to redline the engine so that everything starts working lol . Great video you answered a lot

Thanks brother this one is an oldie but a goodie, I have heaps more on the channel and just started a new build
Great video 👊
Thanks my man, please subscribe if you haven’t already
Maybe in the video you should include testing the oil feed line works & priming the turbo (just pulling the oil feed off the turbo and starting the car with the distributor not connected is the easiest way you can check I think?) Something so simple but can take a good away a good chuck of your turbos life if not done correctly :)
yeah I know about this method only really neccissary if its a fresh build with a new oil pump, this method is proven and we know the oil pump works, maybe I should have done it for the camera but i assure you there is oil pressure, the turbo spinning is more because there is no lubricant in it and the bush bearing needs to bed in, it spins like a mofo after a few hours
Not bad video really enjoying the content and keep up the good work and hope all is well with you and your family
Thanks Cody all the best to you aswell mate

Appreciate you bruh just building mines this year!!!
Awesome glad I can help thanks for watching heaps of Honda tips on my channel
I wonder if they used such a big exhaust side on that turbo was to ensure it didn't make much boost/ exhaust flow restriction and blow up? On a 1.6 a T25 would give more boost much sooner I would expect, but at far more risk of engine damage.
Personally these days I think I'd just hunt down a nice D16 A8/9 twin cam, and change the cams, exhaust manifold and intake, and add an appropriate chip for a tuned nasp twin cam D16. Those engines are nice for a D-series, 130-135bhp standard and 7200rpm. Should be able to get that to 145-150bhp with much less hassle than properly turbocharging a D16 SOHC for a bit more.
I run a t28 on my personal car if you check it out on the channel its much better and more responsive I agree with your theory thats why i built mine the right way check it out and consider subscribing mate
Amazing I'm gonna buy a cheep cheap civic and try this with fuel supplies ecu and a map for you about 212bhp no more just a side project
Excellent let me know how it goes bro

Thanks man, there are heaps of turbo related and how vids on the channel thanks for subscribing mate

Thanks Emil! Please subscribe heaps on the channel
this was so helpful. been thinking of putting on a turbo because my d16y8 is built already and use to run 14psi back in its day from previous owner. and i want to return it to its formal glory but i dont want to spend an arm and leg to do it. i just want some 7psi boost noises lol
I can certainly recomend this kit and doing a turbo conversion but keep in mind this kit still needs to be modified and I would spend my money on a brand name wastegate and some money on better fittings and better external waste gate piping this kit makes the gate shoot flames in the worst possible spot and you will need to take the car to an exhaust shop it will also need good fuel pump and injectors as well as a tune, a stock d16 can handle 12psi all day on its factory internals but a built one like you have will easily hold 20-30psi and be a monster to be safe I would recomend the fuel system and waste gate upgrade and a tune and run about 15psi you and your car will love it
@@TURBOTRISTO what brands for pump gas, regulator of how many bar ?

@@alangutierrez7795 you can do this on pump gas but if you have low octane fuel then you need to run low boost

Good one brother !!
Thank you sir
If I remember right, set the FPR base pressure with the vacuum line off.
Great tip
You can turbo just about anything without tunes and fuel pumps and injectors etc.. the only probably is if you try and shortcut all that stuff the car is either gonna run like crap or the motor is gonna blow.. getting tunes is to preserve the motor and make it perform at its highest level possible and make sure everything is where it should be degrees of timing, afrs, fuel, etc. so to answer the question yes you can turbo something stock.
100% bro

27:57 I think I may have spotted the issue with low boost you still have a vacuum line going from intake to rocker cover so therefore you are positively charging the crankcase
Thanks for the input my man but it’s actually not rocker cover goes to the catch can everything else is blocked off it’s just a bad waste gate that didn’t come with a fire ring
@@TURBOTRISTO yeah it should not be venting at idle, that is a clear indicator that the dump valve is not sealed, it is just like a exhaust valve with a valve seat(fire ring)
That too plus his map sensor is stock and can't read right anymore with the added positive boost

Sure does man it’s a hard one
I imagine extractors are the tubular exhaust manifolds known as headers here in the land of freeDUMB.
You are correct man
This guy is a grade A badass
Haha thank you my man!!!
One reason it isn't spooling up boost is also due to not having enough fuel and adequate timing at that rpm range.
Only issue I see is that stainless pipping may also crack in time
Fire ring mate!

@@TURBOTRISTO I have the same wastegate I have a fire ring in mine, I ran the 5PSI spring with a Turbonetics Manual Boost Controller.
