Every time I come back to this video I become so mesmerised by this video my gooooosh. I wish this game was talked about more. Sure, it has its flaws, but the attention to detail in it is insane. I bet most of the players don’t even realize all the fun little details that were packed into this game. For example, when you walk/run past windows and areas like that you can hear the employs talking about random stuff. And then the news casts that are projected throughout the city, the little dystopian messages you can hear in the distance, and the voice lines npcs will say to you. I especially love when you go to Kingdom and you can hear the screams of test subjects which just shows how awful that place really is. There’s a ton more stuff like that and I just absolutely love it. I really hope there’s a sequel to catalyst even tho it’ll probably never happen haha..
I completely agree, but why did they reboot it? I think catalyst is still great but I just don't see why they did a reboot. Its like deus ex "reboot". The original is sort phesible in the next few year, but the new ones also just go too far into sci-fi.
Yea but then they hidden away one of the most interesting parts of the game, the lore and history of the city and it's characters behind secret collectibles. Seriously I've had more fun reading the hidden documents that the main story itself. Hidden documents that only 1.6% of steam owners ever collect completely, and probably a lower percent even reads them. It's a great game, I like it a lot but for every good decision they took for this game there's an equally bad one.
I hope so. The series still has a fairly large fan base, but it didn't too well in sales. They clearly set it up for a sequel, so hopefully they go through with it. Personally, I love the games mostly for the art design and feel, so even if the story is crap, I'll still enjoy it.
THE_Soulburn The ending for Catalyst really shows that’s their plan, but in a world like ours where money and sales is king, there’s a chance it won’t happen. I feel like Mirrors Edge has always been more of a passion project rather than a game to make money, since it never really was a huge success financially. But I hope the developers see the devoted fan base and decide “To hell with making a great profit, let’s just make a fantastic game.”
I thought the story in this one was awful. I really enjoyed the first one, and when I saw they threw everything out having to do with the first one and rebooted Faith and her sister, I was lost interest. This game had some fun moments here and there, but without a compelling story, I just don't care. I finished this one, but most of the time was longing for the first one.

@@TH_Zireael2077 There are mild parkour elements. Some of the cyberware you get lets you climb walls. You can also turn on a dime and double jump, all while in bullet time.
I can still remember playing this game. It was such a great experience, running jumping from buildings to other buildings, free falling, it was almost like I was playing as faith in real life. Boy do I miss this game, I hope they make a third game. Cause I will for sure play it in no time!
This game was absolutely surreal. I wish I had a better pc to run this at the settings and frames it deserves. Every moment roaming in this game I felt at home with the aesthetic and atmosphere and design. Just everything. Especially that one section, the very pink location with a ton of trees in square plots.
Whenever I want to watch something relaxing, I always come back to this video... Say what you want about the game, but the graphics, movement, and music are beautiful, even 4 years later.
I disagree. I think level design suffered because of bottlenecks. When I was playing that was annoying for me that I had to search for special points to travel between areas. And disadvantage of this bottlenecks was that it enforced on you taking very similar routs.

mirrors edge catalyst is actually one of my favorite game worlds (besides that it is run by corrupt corporate entities), the architecture and overall design of the city is just beautiful. I think it just needs a lot more nature and plants though.
Great vid. Indeed the game looks great, and at times even beautiful. Thanks to the Frostbite engine, but also the designer's amazing work with the world and colours.
Volcanus I think less color works for this game, gives the feeling of a totally corporate world with no room for creativity, just money. I think it's in the gameplay where this game really lacks
I think that world design and gameplay were really awesome (they cold have added more puzzle-climbing side quests though, like those server rooms with lasers). What game severely lacked was likeable characters, Faith seemed like the dullest protagonist I've ever seen.
Oshino Shinobu yeah they really give each area a unique feel with music, regatta bay is really pretty with all the cherryblossoms. Crystal valley too, i love all the neon
The leveldesign of this game is truly amazing. Just that you can take random paths endlessly without (almost) ever getting into a dead end. I find it fascinating still today.
Great job displaying all Faith's moves during the run. I would have liked to see some areal takedowns along the way instead of Faith clumsily bumping into the K-Secs. Other than that, most satisfying run on YT
Thank you. I may end up recording another video doing a loop of the city (that will take a while trying to do it without making a mistake). Will consider actually taking out some K-Sec while trying to keep momentum on that run. I'd ideally like to do it from day to night or night to day, but the day/night cycle is kind of hard to predict in Catalyst
I really love the design of this city. It's a little futuristic yet believable, in the lineage of the first Mirror's Edge one, it doesn't make use of any prop or technology or architectural feats we don't already have in our world, it just combines them and exaggerate their usage
The level design is incredible, we can do these things in a semi open world so smoothly if we know the city, I love this game, I feel like it's so underrated
Awesome video, its amazing how this game creates such a relaxing yet exciting atmosphere. Even though its now 2 years old I still find myself going back to it from time to time just to run over those roof tops and see the beautiful futuristic environment. I really hope they make a third installment although EA seems to be done with single player games.

I think this game is really fun, and the parkour is much better than the first game. The city scale and art design are really amazing. I really think the game deserve a 9/10
I actually bought Mirror's Edge Catalyst knowing nothing about the game or the lore because I happened to stumble across this beautiful night run video.
Alongside other non-commentary Mirror's Edge: Catalyst runs, by far this is the most favorite video I still keep myself watching during my meal time. The momentum & timing in your running and plenty of shortcuts you took there are catching my eyes as a parkour lover. I'd be interested to see more of this kind of video. Props.
This city is the coolest thing to Grace a game this was released in 2016 and the graphics still look like a 2020 release wish I lived in a city like this
More than just her speed, grace, coordination, and endless stamina... how does she navigate? It's like she always knows where she is and where to go at any given time. I can't even plot the way to the grocery store!
Mirrors edge is my favourite game of all time. It's helped me forget problems at home when I was a kid, and gave me a sense of hope and freedom i still strive for. Also faith being a female poc character like myself, really helped me to love myself. Thanks EA and yourself :)
I feel you. The games have flaws, sure, but it's not like anybody else is doing this better. You gonna turn your nose up at a burger with a soggy bun and wilting lettuce if it's the only burger you've ever had or will have? Of course not. We can start being critical of mirror's edge when somebody else does it any better. Until then these games are incredible.
IMO this was a very underrated game. Yeah I know the story wasn’t great but hands down my favorite part was just exploring this futuristic city and sometimes just stopping and taking in what was in front of me.
Whenever Faith uses the grappling hook, I instantly think of Spider-Man lol Imagine a Spider-Man game, but it’s not in third person, and it’s got similar mechanics as mirrors edge. That’d be cool as hell. Even just a mod where faiths model is changed to Spider-Man would be badass.
@Hussy Imagine not liking a game because there is no multiplayer. Ever played the last us? (Does have multiplayer but the singleplayer story is the only reason to play it)
Such a relaxing game. My fear of heights suddenly comes through but then I realize that it is Faith doing the jumps and I relax. I really love how they have combined the vibrant colors with the beautiful music and the overall atmosphere simply amazing. This game far really gives me the similar awe that I had when I first played it. No words.

This game expresses free running not parkour.
This is legit the stuff I think about. Small details people would over look in an instant if it was any other game. I love MEC to bits.
@@doubleddrames8336 me to
I completely agree, but why did they reboot it? I think catalyst is still great but I just don't see why they did a reboot. Its like deus ex "reboot". The original is sort phesible in the next few year, but the new ones also just go too far into sci-fi.
@@scrubbear2425 maybe they thought they hit a dead end with the last game in terms of continuity.
Nice run.
It's just a dream ...
But i hope that there will be a Mirror's Edge 3 someday
Same. Even if we need some time distance to make some stuff change and make this game fit better in the time being
I thought the story in this one was awful. I really enjoyed the first one, and when I saw they threw everything out having to do with the first one and rebooted Faith and her sister, I was lost interest. This game had some fun moments here and there, but without a compelling story, I just don't care. I finished this one, but most of the time was longing for the first one.
Don't worry, EA will milk the very last cent out of every game. There will be so many Mirror's Egdes you will get sick of it.

"If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain
If you're not into yoga, if you have half a brain
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape

Even In 2023
It was definitely ahead of its time.
The level design of this game is brilliant. You can go nonstop for hours and never hit a road block.
True. The city was built with passion and so much attention to the details. The game is underrated so much.
Fuck yeah, i'm hoping Cyberpunk 2077 will make a dystopic city with different feels!

Really? Your opinion on the colours I do not mind, but could you say how the gameplay lacks?
I think that world design and gameplay were really awesome (they cold have added more puzzle-climbing side quests though, like those server rooms with lasers). What game severely lacked was likeable characters, Faith seemed like the dullest protagonist I've ever seen.
Volcanus Play the first part :)
