The game is still playable in singleplayer, but multiple components no longer work such as Beat L.E's, player made time trials, divisions, and achievements.

I dont get it
Online features for this game have been retired as of the 8th of December 2023, this means that online components no longer work such as Beat L.E's, player made time trials, divisions, and achievements.
@@unknowntheladwhat achievements? I'm looking through them.
@@ut2protocolNone of them are. Because of the servers being down achievements will not be granted when achievement conditions are met.
@@unknownthelad so basically this isnt a game for perfectionist anymore, and we're late to plat.Preciate the tip
@@kolyasmirno9116 You got it.
The most beautiful game I've ever played. This game singlehandedly shaped my taste of architecture and interior design.
I figure they'll never make another Mirror's Edge game but I still hold out for hope
Likewise, the Mirror's Edge franchise is one of my favorites.
I remember once having made some records (at the time) for the time trials on the 360. One time having the best time for the month, that felt so good to see@@unknownthelad
The problem is that the series belongs to DICE, which also develops the far more profitable Battlefield games.
@@bspiekermanI mean the last two flops are a hard pill to swallow.
@@bspiekerman might be a bit of a stretch, but with successful remakes coming out of older games lately, its not too inconceivable that they could jump on the trend try to revive the franchise
Didn't know they shut them down, what a shame. I really wish they gave the community server files to host them ourselves, but this is just a modern game industry issue as a whole with preservation. Maybe someday some new developer will make a spiritual successor to this game with it's great movement system.
I sure hope so, and yes I agree, the community itself being able to host their own servers would be great. Feel like it should be a standard to release it so that when a game eventually does reach EOL people who want to keep on playing can.

I left a link to share what I think was quite relevant and shining light on what can be and you deleted, it's not much but I'm unliking this video and deleted the comment you didn't delete regarding the link like you want everything to be about you, you're insignificant and always will be.
@@unknowntheladhave you seen storror parkour?
Maybe, the Beat Revival project is onto something
Damn, what makes this game series unique imo is that the feel it has. This all white/black buildings made from glass/concrete/metal with sharp colours appearing from time to time and how dense the city is in mirrors edge and city of glass in catalyst. There’s no way in real life and in other parkour games where you can just jump from one high rise building to another. I wish the series would either continue or some new parkour game would appear with similar style. Something like riders republic but made for parkour
With the IP in EA's hands it is very unlikely that we'll get another official Mirror's Edge game. Nothing is stopping other studios from making a parkour game though, EA doesn't exactly have a copyright on the genre. We probably haven't gotten another one due to lack of demand for a new parkour game from gamers in general, even though we in the Mirror's Edge community desperately want another one.
Rooftops and alleys, try that. It’s no mirrors edge but it’s soul focus parkour and free running
@@yaboyjosh7746 hah, I know this one. Really looking forward to it
Of course, in both parts of Mirrors Edge we are convinced that this is a dystopia, but for me it will always be a utopia. Calm music, the narratives of which make you believe in the future, blue blue sky, sun, clean and shiny buildings, meditative gameplay. I miss the times when people imagined the future as something like Mirrors Edge.
agree, hope to see more of this type of architecture in reality. the white, simplistic yet expertly executed minimalism with highlights and streaks of bold colors is just the best

played this game on xbox for years and loved it. Last month i built my first pc and decided to get this game again on steam, when that message popped up about the servers being shutdown when loading up the game that was my first time hearing about the news lol :(
Yeah, it's a damn shame :(
Lol nice to see that I'm not the only one who had this idea! Did this type of run a few years ago myself, nice job!
Thanks man!
I would like a third game. But I would love the third game to bring back the 'take their guns and shoot them' thing from the first game.
Doubt we'll ever see a third game. EA has DICE making Battlefield games so they're busy with that. We can pray though, but things aren't looking promising for a third installment.
Still a gorgeous game, thank you for replaying and sharing ❤
this game felt amazing
Yeah, the movement is so smooth and satisfying. Don't get me started on the takedown animations!
Her in game: 🏃♀😰🥵😫 😮💨🤕
gamers in front of their PCs: 🗿
🗿
so pretty..i'm playing it rn for the 3rd time. I don't think DICE understands just how much potential this series has. The community seems to agree. I'm yet to find a better parkour game.
Ha, I'm having this for the first time because in the past I only played the beginning and it's a great game, it's a shame that the game is a little bad for me, I would like 144fps but I still love it 😍
Imagine a new Mirror’s Edge game with RT, would look awesome !
It sure would!
Mirror's Edge is such a fun and unique game, both the first one and catalyst. I don't think EA will make another instalment any time soon, but I believe it could sell well. The game has a decently sized fanbase that love the games (including me).
I'd love to be able to make custom levels to play around in, they could do so much with the game. Too bad EA sucks lol.
You can make custom levels and mods for Mirror's Edge through the unreal engine 3 editor. Since Catalyst runs on frostbite modifying Catalyst is not as easy.
Development Area and Triumvirate Drive so original Mirror's edge vibes
glad I 100% the game right before this happened
Yeah, likewise
What achievements are not possible now?
@@ut2protocol There are two specific ones that require you to play user created content (you can still unlock them illegitimately on steam with the steam achievement manager). The rest still work (on steam with the origin app at least) but sometimes take a long time to register that you've achieved them. I've been playing through the last few weeks and I've unlocked almost all achievements. A few of them that I've done in game and seen the notification pop up still haven't unlocked, but a couple others were like that earlier and unlocked recently. If I 100% the game and they still haven't unlocked I'll just unlock them with steam achievement manager.
all of them
i didnt know they disabled the servers :(
They sure did unfortunately
Definitely real. You are an absolute legend!
What?
What what?@@unknownthelad
Its sad they got rid of it I remember doing other people's time trial trying to put my name on almost every time trial possible however it had network issues so I wasn't able to do it RIP
P.S I also got all of the achievements and the online one before they shutdown btw
Oh man :/ I purchased the game on pc in july last year to replay it. I only played a little and uninstalled it because I had so many other games to play. But within the 5 ish hours I played I got caught up trying to get a higher placement/time on a few challenges. If I wouldve known about the server shutting down I wouldve fully played it.
Them bhops off the mags though
Not the best at them but done my fair share of bunny hopping
Imagine bhopping your way across the ME map like a speed demon.
ESEA Admin: He's not scripting.
ADMIN HE DOING IT SIDEWAYS!
All my secret spots are gone TnT
That they are, can't abuse player made time trials anymore :(
I remember pre ordering this game. I was so stoked for this game. The story was a huge let down but open world level design is breathtakingly beautiful. I remember free roaming just to check out the visual. Also the parkour is top notch. I can't remember any game that made me feel as free and energetic while moving through the environment like this game did.
You'd have to have a lot of stamina to keep going at that pace
Isn't there an open source project bringing back the online features?
No clue man, sure so hope so
No hope for a future fan server to pop up for this one?
Honestly, since the original game, my only thought has been, "How does Faith run in those shoes?" Seriously, they look like a pair of futuristic moccasins. Is there any cushioning in those? I doubt it.
But this is still playable offline?
I wanted to get this game at some point but never got to it. It's it still worth getting without any online stuff?
For sure, the online components make up a small part of the experience but it still sucks that they're gone. Game is definitely still worth it without it.
Yes! Its absolutely worth it!
I never cared about those components, TBH. As long as I can still play the built-in content, I'm good. I don't want to compare myself to other people, I just want to have single-player fun. The only multiplayer I care about is couch multiplayer, and most games nowadays don't have that anyways. 😕
Same man im more of a single player/campaign guy if I'm honest
I can see the inspiration for dying light lol
Indeed lol. First time I played Dying Light 2 my Mirror's Edge muscle memory kicked in. I do love Dying Light though so I really cannot complain, the parkour in that game feels amazing.
How many times have you done this run
A few too many.
@unknownthelad I have to admit, it's gotta be one of the smoothest I've seen
Why thank you!
what gpu is that
RTX 2060
It's better this way. Online stuff is just needless.
I'm inclined to disagree
I don't see the correlation
That's fine, you don't have to
This game's "open world" is a joke because you can't jump from building to building, you have to go on specific paths to reach a different building.
Burnout Paradise did open world vastly better and there if you could go through, then you would!
Still, I got a lot of fun out of ME:C despite the story being absolute 💩 and a lot of annoying/cringe characters.
