Takeda’s father is Japanese and his mother was Thai in the original timeline. Quite the mix we have here. The question is, how are you gonna call Takeda white when 1)His first and last name give half of his ethnicity, 2)MKX used custom face models rather than faces of real people so how could you judge Takeda’s ethnicity on that?

So, what, he got mad that Takeda's face actor changed? NRS has done that for the past 3 MK games. Surprised he didn't complain about Scorpion in 11.
This guy is grifting, but he’s highlighting one of NRS’ biggest mistakes with MKX
MKX (although assigning different races in lore) presenting everybody as Caucasian in both skin and voice acting

What’s so annoying is that the real criticisms they got at the time did help them solve these problems to having slightly more accurate representations of culture
But instead it also lead for them to go even farther than they ever needed too working with companies like sweet baby inc
Yeah, the worst part about people like this is that they are muddling actual nuggets of truth in a mix of political grifting.
It creates doubt for people that actually know the real issues because then they have to start making very obvious qualifications and stating the obvious, "Netherrealm is participating in DEI practices yes, but Takeda is alright just so we're clear". I agree, I often forget that Kitana wasn't even originally Asian just because she always had that man-jaw going on which they only fixed as recent as MKX. The Edenians were Greek in inspiration. And her mother and father were Jerrod and Sindel... Both just being patently Caucasian. But because Kitana became Asian, that meant Mileena had to become Asian too since she was made from Kitana's DNA. And so on so forth, it just creates a mess of logistics.
I often fault MK11 for being the start of this crap, but I forget a lot of the time that it actually started back in MKX.
I still never got over a White Sub Zero in MK3 though 😂

They couldn't get JCVD like they wanted cause he was too coked up to take em seriously so they had to settle for a dollar store version 😂
And Raiden was white in the first three games, as well as Sub Zero in MK3 was white.
Hell even Street Fighter the movie, which also became a game, suffered from that.
E Honda was now Samoan, Balrog, for a guy that was supposed to be a parody of Mike Tyson, looked like he hadn't boxed in his entire life, Ryu was now Chinese, M Bison was Latino, Dhalsim was some frail old man, I dunno wtf Blanka was supposed to be, Vega and Sagat were now Native American, and I dunno wtf they were thinking of casting that guy as Ken. He knew about as much martial arts as my handicapped grandma.
Oh and in the game Akuma was Filipino 😂
Even Kaneco's 1995 Jackie Chan Fist of Fire game, an MK clone of sorts, was basically just him and his unnamed stunt team.
Ya know, this reminds me of the dumb drama over some guy calling Kimberly the first *black* female character in Street Fighter, ignoring the existence of Elena from 3 and 4 and Menat from 5 and failing to understand that *black* doesn't exclusively mean African American.

lol that's not how it works. You can't co-opt Menat just cause she has a darker complexion. Also no one said "African Americans". Street Fighter the World Warrior means warriors from all over the world. Being Black doesn't mean people automatically assume you're from America.

I know no one said "African Americans". That's the POINT. Dude said Kim was the first *black* female fighter as if "black" only refers to African-Americans and as if the literal African, Elena, wasn't black female YEARS before Kim was conceived. He SHOULD'VE said "first Black-American fighter" in regards to Kim, as that would've been accurate and NOT invalidating of all the other kinds of black people across the globe from Black-Europeans (Dudley) to Black-Brazilians (Sean), and people called him out for his ignorance and doubling down on that ignorance.
It's really not. Dudley, Balrog, Elena, and Sean are all Black. But they're also from completely different parts of the world with completely different cultures. They are similar, but they aren't the same just because they have dark skin, hence the further classification terms like African-American vs. African-European and so on. It's important terminology so you can be aware of these culture differences within the same general race of people and not do some ignorant stuff like give the African Samurai in your Feudal Japan Assassin game a trap beat for a battle theme when bro is nowhere close to America let alone from there, let alone in a time period where such music exists.

Next he's gonna imply that Jax was a DEI-op this whole time since like....1993. A lot of things about MK have rubbed me the wrong way in recent years, but the fact that it's always been a boiling pot of nationalities and cultures has never been one of those reasons. It's a fight for Earth Realm against an invading super-powered dictator. It makes perfect sense that every nationality in the world would have a stake in this fight, and send all their biggest badasses to help. Getting hung up on varying skintones between games seems like such a tiny-brain strategy to do. People in this game are friends with Johnny Cage, you gonna tell me none of them went to the tanning salon with him?
To be fair here, MK11 DID do Jax dirty but erasing his whole identity as an American hero and soldier and then redressing him as a Wakanda Forever African patriot in the MK11 ending. It was just incredibly out of character and disingenuous, but I agree with what you're saying otherwise.
I think this guy is just a grifter trying to ride a political tidal wave the same way Breadtubers did; this isn't about media literacy for him, it's about money.

Games have always have diversity. Players care about that what they care about is if the story is gonna be woke, dumb or preachy. Look at Warhammer 40k trailer. That's a rather diverse cast. No one cares because it looks like it's gonna be a really great game that you can play with your friends.
Games were always diverse; we’ve always had characters from all backgrounds in all games because back then the focus wasn’t on race/politics it was on making great games with great stories, now companies are focusing entirely on race/gender politics and delivering a message instead of quality games, it’s all gone down hill in this woke era from movies/shows to games being ruined by agendas.

No one complained about Samus Aran, Jax, or even playing as Aliens and fictional races of varying sizes and shapes.
They cared about having a good time. When politics starts invading people's escapisms and it goes from simple character traits to political statements, then people will start caring and become annoyed.

Plus it was obviously inspired by Aliens and Namco's arcade game Baraduke, which had a blonde female lead hidden in a space suit. No one ever had a problem with Ripley in the Alien franchise
It's not females that people cared or ranted about.
What people rant about now is how they and minorities are disingenuously used as exploited pawns on a contrived manner for some misplaced social politics messaging when it's really about investment groups trying to gain leverage on companies via guideline loans and what you get in return is poorly written material with uninteresting characterization.
You got to remember though; anyone of any ethnicity can have tanned or dark skin. It's dependent usually on how much melanin is activated by UV raidiation, as we all have melanin in our skin cells to protect us from UV radiation.
Environment is also a factor too. The more tropical or arid the climate, the darker skin you're gonna get. Europeans and some Asians are paler because of environment, climate and personal treatment of their skin.
Generally, the more genetically predisposed toward melanin content in your skin cells, the darker you'll be.
For myself, I quite like dark skin on people, it looks rather beautiful.
He explained in a video he just uploaded that it was a mistake he thought this fanmade picture was a race swap because of the dark rendering. And yes, there are ppl out there that call Asians white ppl. I see nothing wrong with that.

It has come to the point that I feel like stepping out of this because i don't align with their conservative agenda and they are very dishonest.

Raiden, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, etc were portrayed by the Pesina Bros, who are both Mexican. John Turk portrayed many MK characters and he’s White.
Most MK characters were more or less racially ambiguous as far as facial features until MK11.

Politics entering the gaming space as well as the entire gaming industry and social media space basically made things very depressing.
Everyone now, even in comment sections like this and many others test people everyday of their lives with it now too, because if you say the wrong thing that criticizes their politics, then they don’t like it and come after you, with others trying to force you to choose a side.
People rarely talk about video games now, they confront you with their stance, beliefs, religion, politics, sexual orientation, gender, or whatever, just to see if you are like them.
The discussion would rarely be about the video games nowadays.
I remember a time where we played video games and never once brought up politics, religion, gender identity, race, or the current problems in the world of those times, we just played video games, had a good time, and talked about the video games that we played.
We rarely brought up real world issues, if we wanted to talk about those things, then we would, but it would never get to a point to where you are questioning the people in your friends’ group and developing into arguments and fist fights, never would happen at all.
Nowadays nobody can tolerate a long conversation with anyone else without getting bored, or getting triggered by whatever they say.
Things really started devolving into a depressing state.

Why Takeda?
Takeda is just a good little Japanese lad who didn't do anything wrong and fit well in line with old MK design philosophies. Dude is just cool and people wanted him back, plus he is coming in a season that included Homelander, Omniman and Peacemaker; three white dudes. If they were doing woke sh-- I'd be shouting it from the rooftops but Takeda is objectively not woke along with the last 3 characters they released. This is NOT comparable to what they did to Tanya, Sheeva and Jax (Tanya got raceswapped and uglified, Sheeva got uglified too despite being Shokan and got that "QWEEN" treatment, and Jax, poor Jax, had his entire identity as a full blooded American hero replaced with Wakanda Forever messaging even straight up saying "Can't wait for the rest of the world to get woke", just for anyone curious).
If there was ammunition to be fired, I'd be firing it, but this guy is just a straight up grifter trying to ride a cultural backlash for profit. F---'em.

I´m a MK Fan for over 30 years and reviewed every game of MK! I deserve a review copy of the game but those stupid morans of NRS don´t want to give me one".

I used to be a fan of TotalMK back in the MK9 days but he fell out of relevancy I think once injustice rolled around. Clearly he’s fallen completely off the deep end.

I still have a problem with Edenenians in MK1 just looking mostly Asian now when in previous releases they had features of all races making them look fantasy, garden of eden like (Edenia), alien like,... they had mixed features, which made them really look like they're from another realm , but now they just look like asian earth realmers. 😅
When it comes to the garden of Eden...why is it assumed that these people are more so that of the European descent... When scientifically the pale European skin that we are used to is considered to be newer... Roughly less than 6000 years old...

@Rayutomoto no one said Eden looks European. Kitan, for example, used to look Indian, European, Latin, and just overall, like a female that has multiple racial features. Sindel MK11 looked European and Asian but with an African Queens body shape. Tanya was Egyptian and Indian. Jade was Indian Latina Mexican like.

Total Mk is a moron but Takeda’s skin is definitely noticeably darker than it was in MKX. Like you said we don’t know the motivation or reasons for it yet.

I see a bit of hypocrisy in this situation where it is okay and accepted to change skin color in one direction but not the other way.

Takeda could have been in the sun. Im asian with lighter skin, but when i tan, i get that exact skin tone.
Not only does it make sense for Takeda to be darker then an Asian from a more northern country, he actually was darker skinned then most other Asian characters like his Japanese father or Kung Jin who is Chinese. Scorpion was kinda exception but for him its probably supposed to be an actual tan.
So its not them making it realistic, its them keeping the already established skin tone.
I don't think an established character should be race swapped from either side. This takeda situation didn't bother me. He looks more tan in the render art but in game he looks pretty similar to what he was in MKX. but my MAIN ISSUE with this race swap stuff is that it's almost always taking established white characters and changing them into a black character, or a male character being turned into a female. I personally can't think of one single example of a black character being turned into a white one or a female being turned into a male. Are there any examples?
None in recent years to my knowledge. Whitewashing has long since died out, and you'd get burned at the stake if you tried that today. Although funny story: Capcom expects us to believe the Morrison from DMCV is the same exact guy from the DMC anime, a white dude. The funny part is that new Morrison's VA ISN'T black, but a white guy.

Yep, Vanessa in Virtua Fighter 4 was whitewashed in 5 (and not a single video about it exists on RUclips). Tanya was whitewashed in MKX's base game and was going to be in the DLC until they got backlash and corrected things. In the movie side of things, we had white people playing Ancient Egyptians and Middle Eastern Jews in Exodus: Gods and Kings. Speaking of Egypt and Gods, we had Gerard Butler playing an Egyptian God in Gods of Egypt.
Also pretty sure Pinhead from Hellraiser was actually described as female in the original book, but the movie made them a man and now the character will forever be seen as male.

Also, most Asian ethnicities will have tan people. Many of them went through feudal periods. The people that worked the fields and did more of the manual labor in society would have been the poorer people and thus many have darker skin than others. It’s not like the basics of skin exposure to the sun changes around that part of the world.

When I was younger I always thought Kenshi was only part Japanese. In the 3d era his character model just had that chiseled jaw and then when he came back I 9 and X I still thought that. My honest feeling is the general level of skill in SF online compared to Tekken is quite low. I've been winning sets against Master rank players and people playing the game since it came out, and I've only used Bison for about a day. If I had some more time, I could easily hit Master with him. I do have years of experience with Bison in other games and a lot of what he's done before carries over, but yeah, it does feel super simple. Bisons always extremely powerful. Probably the strongest character in the game.

I dont think dei push is realy the disease. Its more of a symptom. Its just so happens that if gamedevs are incompitent in delivering good gameplay and/or story and they know that, it looks like they would rather double down and go all out in dei (and even hire sweet baby and such). And later put all their marketing compaign around that, coz they have literaly nothing else to offer. For example there is mass effect trilogy, where we have black, white, asian, alien, lgbt, crossspecies relationship and so on, but also great story and gameplay. And people generaly think of it as a great game

Some times I feel some of them do it for rage bait. Prime example, and I dislike that I am using this guy just because it is rage bait, but the youtber by the name of perfection the natural selection has made about 17 videos hating on sparking zero. I've only watched some and the points he brings up make absolutely no sense. I've no clue if he is doing it just as rage bait or if he genuinely feels this way.
