For real they can have it. Forget the gameplay, Forget the glitches, Forget the micro transactions. The story. Why in the name of Onaga do people enjoy the story of the past 2 games? But specifically mk1. Friendly Kombat 1. Baraka and reptile don't need to be sympathetic emotional good guys. And let's make sure we have some cringe pre fight banter talking about your tribe or your clan and how much of an honor it is to face them. If there weren't fatalities as a gameplay mechanic then it wouldn't even get the M rating. Uh oh we spent 3/4 of our story and no one died, better kill a ton of alternative timeline versions of people so it's ya know mortal kombat. We don't need to be stuck in the 90s, but mortal kombat deserved better than this soy boy hold hands thing that the franchise has become. They made Raiden a beta male and I'll never forgive them for that.
Their game is trash. NRS or whoever controls MK needs to realize that MK is a valuable act from the 90s and 00s, but they are just a cover band. They need to realize they are not rockstars, and earn our respect.
@sammasters2000 Baraka and Reptile being good guys wasn't a bad thing but im with you 100% on the Raiden issue. He was my favorite character up until mk1. Something I'll add to that is how they handled Scorpion. Scorpion has always been a tragic character and thoygh he deserves justice and redemption, they didnt do it very well in my opinion.
Funny mk1 couldnt even hit the 1,000 entry mark with all dlc included and still couldnt do it while 3rd strike more than 20yrs old did is so hilarious 😂😂😂
@@sidneyhenderson6859 yeah also people are signing up for that game because they know it'll never be back and this is there once chance to play it at evo.
It still bothers me that we couldn't get Anthony Starr as Homelander but we got Megan Fox as Nitara...I definitely wouldn't have bought it if i knew i was getting Homelander from Wish.
@@Dr490n28After hearing both of them, i still prefer Starr. When that other guy speaks, all I can hear is Johnny Cage's impression of Homelander. I'm aware Cage's VA does not voice him

As much of a fan that I am of MK, I could admit that MK1 has been a mess. Between all the bugs, lack of content and questionable actions taken, or lack of action taken by NRS, it has overall not been a good experience. The good things that I could say about it are the graphics and I actually do think that the gameplay is more fun than MK 11’s. Like you said before, the only way things will really change is if you hurt their wallet and affect their bottom line.
@@aidanayala2768content compared to past entries. There’s no extra modes like in 9 (e.g. 2v2, that randomisation more), and is krypt replacement is very grindy, tedious and time limited. I like the concept actually. But it’s just not fun the way they did it. And some new content are time limited as well. The seasons lock skins penalty. The ship doesn’t present everything, but copies the fortnite esc type. MK1 is getting support and content, but besides gameplay wise and the actual dlc character, what’s added isn’t fun or good.
@@phenom504 I enjoyed mk11 way more than 1 but I gave 1 a shot. It was a decent game til they nerfed my main into the ground but even then the game was flawed af. The hit box is all over the place, most of the vanilla roster feels boring as shit and not to mention but there's no 1v1 they force cameos on you and expect you to swallow and say thanks. They got rid of the arcade mode most of us liked and swapped in invasions which I tried to give a shot as well but it's very lack luster at times. Not to mention once you get high enough in ranked it's nothing but Jonny cages waiting to low guard and switch up with overheads. That's it that's the game. I'm fine if the game dies it deserves no attention whatsoever.
@@God1st949 I know. My thing about that is. How bad does it need to get? Look how bad it is currently and you have people shilling for the game? Can it actually get worse than this?
@JohnnyLongHands That would never happen. MK is way too big for people to make an impact. If they were to go all out with a live service, then the community would just accept it. The majority if the player base are people that come home from work and play invasions for like 30 min and log off everyday. Same reason takken 8 fell off for the casuals and saw a decline in playerbase. People wanted to just play offline and grind on their own, they don't want to get beat online.
@@JohnnyLongHandsSonicfox just won $200,000, has visited Neatherealm studios and know the game developers personally. There is no living soul that should take his toxic positivity seriously. And as far as the other shills go, their love for a 30 year franchise has clouded their judgement. I’ve been playing MK since it released on Super Nintendo and as all of us old heads know: *The NRS era is NOT Mortal Kombat and if they don’t carry any “legacy” over from game to game, you will continue to get gimmicks that don’t work and character balance that is SHAMBOLIC.*
Ive heard that all the QA testers report all these glitches but it never gets adressed bc higher ups only care about deadlines. NRS actually used to be model FG devs, remember they were the first company to ever retroactively add rollback to a game (mkx) and had rollback in their games years before their competition. I cant imagine the modern state of the company ever going to those lengths. I think it probably has to do with WB games in general is mishandling many beloved IPs for easy cash grabs.
19:40 was so factual. dmc fans will eat you alive if you hate on dmc 3 but if you hate on dmc 2 you will hear a unanimous “sounds about right”. Unanimous negativity comes to games that definitely deserve it
I’ve been apart of this community since 2011. We honestly don’t even deserve a good competitive game anymore. If content creators, commentators, and pro players are too afraid to say how this game is OBJECTIVELY horrible and bad. Nothing will change. It was fun while it lasted.
@@Xepher being paid with what? Lmao these are minimum wage workers outside of their twitch and YT channels. WB and NRS aren’t cutting them checks. It’s just free copies of the game no?
@@tmerchead1 every single one who primarily talks about the game makes reaction videos other than play it, most pro players, (PND K&M, Mr Aquaman, Rips Arena, Sonicfox, Tweedy, UltraDavid, UnCagedGamez, Destroyer, Waz, Diff, Caboose) all given “opportunities” and benefits from NRS and don’t say a word about MK1
This is comparable to Bethesda fanboys. It's been a year since Microsoft bought them out and nothing but Redfail and Unfinished Starfail. Few months away for Mk1 full year release and nothing to show for. Truly an embarrassment for triple A gaming.
I would honestly say all of Bethesda's career is built off fanboys on heavy copium. Skyrim was fun but I was 11 when that game dropped, years later I realized that the game was super bland and buggy asf. I feel like all Bethesda fans are stuck with that 11 year old nostalgia
Weirdest part to me is majority of the criticism is surrounded around the game development and community team and the players the people who are being victimized are defending them. Like, why are y’all defending the people who don’t GAF about y’all. Literal FGC Stockholm syndrome.
It's the weirdest stuff I've ever seen in gaming. I've never seen a scene get dunked on by the Devs that produce the game defending them. If this happened in any other game, the Devs would be destroyed 😂
@@RealMikeHollow people get so attached to these things that they get offended when you have valid criticisms of the game they had no part in developing. No one is saying you can’t enjoy the game but sometimes you gotta call the baby ugly in order for issues to get addressed. No one is trying to rain on their parade but acting like MK is in a good state right now would be objectively wrong and that’s coming from me a self proclaimed MK apologist. Lmao
@@RealMikeHollow I've seen it before with football clubs and especially certain developers in the industry outside of Fighting games and excluding MK (namely this BPD-laden, excuse-ridden "you're being toxic" nonsense used as a cudgel against anything critical, even though criticism is important for anything to progress properly). Pokemon is a big example of this in fact, Game Freak and their owners at Nintendo treat the playerbase like shit and implement baffling and even awful design decisions in their games, yet criticising them draws the ire of the fantards who lap that shit up. Sword + Shield releasing in a BROKEN state and pointing out that it released in a BROKEN state is also denied by several die-hard fantards. But again, I've seen many losers on both sides attempt to sway my decisions on playing multiple games, and I laugh at them. Because if you are that fragile to criticism or the player's capacity and free will to do whatever the fuck they want and criticise whatever the fuck they see or do then that's an issue with the acolytes defending bad rubbish. Though I do chuckle at anyone who thinks Sonic '06, a rushed, broken, trash fire of a game is good (I played the Xbox 360 demo of Sonic '06, which was the "superior build" as a kid, and it was so messed-up that I chose to play Lost Planet 1 instead). But then again, the Sonic fanbase is pure, undistilled cringe and is the butt of many jokes in the entirety of the Computer Game Industry and its associated fanbases (CoD fans dunk on Sonic fans, MGS fans dunk on Sonic fans, DMC fans dunk on Sonic fans, hell, fucking Rance fans dunk on Sonic fans, it's the "Abbacchio sips wine before joining in on the beatdown" meme in full effect when you see a Sonic fan do something monumentally idiotic in public and everyone dunks on both him AND the greater Sonic fanbase as a whole) who exist outside of Platformers know that Sonic fans are the ultimate punch line.
Listen as much as I'm ashamed to admit it, I love playing Overwatch 2, cause it's fun, yet i would never pretend most of the criticism aimed at it is not valid; people need to realize just because you like something it isn't perfect
Wait remember when MK1 1ST trailer dropped majority of these same ppl were bragging on how much views it had over Tekken 8 and street fighter 6. Now they wanna throw this cope fail out at us. We have the last laugh now and this is why the NRS community is a joke.
As a MK fan, and one of those people who fell into the hype of MK1. I have a personal story with this, I was playing MK1 recently and just couldn't help something was off. This was just when Mavado kameo came out. I was playing some towers, and something just came to me. I'd rather be playing these kameo characters instead of just them being what is essentially a glorified special move. WB and NRS marketed MK1 as a team fighting game, and its just not. I really wanted to like MK1, and there are parts of the game that I do enjoy, but its just so rough. I want this game to be good, but its just not.
Ten good things about mk1? easy. Number 10: Reptile is hot Number 9: Reptile is hot Number 8: Reptile is hot Number 7: Reptile is hot Number 6: Reptile is hot Number 5: Omni-Man is hot Number 4: Reptile is hot Number 3: Reptile is hot Number 2: Reptile is hot Number 1: Reptile is hot
Granblue and UNICS are objectively better than MK1, but even more: those two games ooze with the care and love the developers have put, and continue putting on them. They are small in production, but gigantic in quality, competive potential and heart.
I heard that under night was basically just an update from the previous game which added rollback 2 new characters and some new mechanics. But if that’s true then shit this community’s been keeping this fine ass game to themselves the whole time.
@@Iwisoks but the thing with UNIB2 is that french-bread is a very small team, unib can be considered a indie game practically, and the Devs wanted to add so much more but they couldn't because the small budget and team, is french-bread have the team and money UNIB2 would be a great sequel if not one of the greatest Fg ever
@pepinillomagico1645 oh I know bro, and I don't doubt what u said. Honestly I don't really care how little difference there is between the older games cause to me it's still a fun game. I do not think that just because a company's budget is low that doesn't mean it's not capable of producing a great game
10 Good Things about MK1 imo -Mileena and Kitana's relationship. I love em being ACTUAL caring family -Nitara being back despite the atrocious voice acting -The new lin kuei is pretty cool with kuai liang being the scorpion this time, nice spin on things -Johnny Cage being more than a generic comedy relief movie star goof -Baraka having depth and being an actual character with a merchant backstory - Reptile has the best design he has ever had (imo), and is not a random grunt character - Yuri Lowenthal as Smoke - Cage Mansion is a godlike stage - Very entertaining story mode in terms of cutscenes and narrative - uhh damn uhh... Kitana is a baddie??? Cant say nothing good abt gameplay dawg, I just want that Sparking Zero copy mk1 is rubbish💀 EDIT: Fuck he said 20, I cant glaze any more than i already have im sorry
The mk community is the greatest example of stolkhome syndrome. The game is handled like it's a free to play game. This game has been awful and terrible since day 1. No one wants to admit that this game sucks. Wish I got street fighter instead. M. Bison got me so hyped

This is the black pills MK fans need to accept: - Mortal Kombat is not a fighting game, it is a 1v1 action game. I'm not even gonna elaborate, they can mull it over themselves. Some iterations were better than others but the teams Boon puts together, whether Acclaim, Midway, Williams, NetherRealm - they were never good at creating a 'fighting game'. Still fun, iconic series; not a fighting game. - MK's "esports community" was completely astroturfed by WB Games using influencers since MK9. Competitive interests was never as organic as they wanted you to believe. - There is not a single MK game that can touch even the worst Japanese fighting games on a mechanical, design level. Not a one. - Killer Instinct is the West's only actual fighting game series. - If Mortal Kombat is to improve, it needs to adopt mechanical trends MK fans claim are stupid or outdated. - Yes, Tekken 8's story is better than MK1. Yes it's because of one of the biggest 3rd act fumbles I've ever seen in a story.
Mk has had a downfall as catastrophic as the new assassin creed games both are modern dog shit and I have got all the mks that is definitely changing to me only playing sf and tekken
10 good things in mk1(not in any order) 1.Kameo-we get to see more characters in the game that they would not consider in main rosters 2.shrine- no duplicate items unlike other games rng system. 3.silver coin currency earned for just playing online to unlock free skins 4.forced best of 3 in ranked online. Gives a chance to learn and make a comeback 5. Cheaper premium skins costing $5-6 compared to other games that cost $10-20 for skins in $60-70 games. 6. More value per dollar with kombat packs compared to street fighter and tekken in the sense of volume of characters and guest characters included. 7.story mode. Has great quality cutscences, good story, did not evolve or raise bar but is still at quality of previous mk games. 8. Krossplay including pc. Mk11 did include krossplay but only between consoles.mk1 has full crossplay including consoles and pc, this was late but still good. 9. Wifi filter. Gives player the option to reject wifi matches or poor connections. Could it be better, yes, was it late yes but this is still good to have than not. 10. Promised support for the game. This is good, new content, new balance patches, they will not give up on the game after year 1 of release. Compared to like mvc infinite where it was received poorly and developer gave up on game, did not even try to "fix" game.
It really makes you wonder if NRS is looking for a way to tank the competitive side of Mortal Kombat. They are intentionally making it bad in order to give higher ups the justification they need to tank the competitive side and just make it about the single player.
2 things great about MK1. 1. The Title. Looking back on MK11, I've always felt, "Hey, the font is great but there's just too many 1s" And I for one, am pretty glad that someone on the Netherrealm team shared that sentiment. 2. I don't own an Xbox or PC so this is as close as i can get to playing Killer Instinct.
Insane copium. MK deserves it's criticism and the shills accepting this subpar stuff from MK don't help it improve at all. I would have thought MK fans are tired of dealing with incompetent devs and stupid story writers who made Kuai Liang into Scorpion for some stupid reason but I guess not
1. MK1 just gave me a shot at getting Sparking Zero. I'm too broke for it right now lol 2. It serves as a lesson to fighting devs on what not to do for both casual and hardcore community members. 3. They made Omni-Man vs Homelander happen. Definitely an unexpected move when they were first announced. 4. Voice acting was phenomenal. Reptile is a much better character for it and is actually better for the changes. 5. Megan Fox is the prime example of why hiring professional VAs are important. It is a big teachable moment. 6. The concept of assists in MK was nice on paper at first. Though i think they shouldn't do it again, I respect them trying to change things up. 7. NRS bringing back characters from the spinoffs and lesser known MK games was cool to see as a long time fan. 8. Takeda is back. I can actually try to get back into the game. 9. The netcode is only slighty better than MKX and MK11 at launch. (That doesn't say a lot, but it had to be mentioned.) Lol 10. Lastly, the game is graphically well done. Its just a beautiful mess of a game. Bruh, I'm reaching further than Luffy with this comment, but i want Sparking Zero 😂😂
@eshaanbasu9342 I played both, but I personally felt like I had a better online experience with this game. I just got kind of bored with it fast because Reptile and Sindel just didn't satisfy me gameplay wise, but Takeda might fix that. Well, that and as long as I'm not queuing with a bunch of wifi only players, I've had decent experiences.
1. Gameplay (combos are fun to do and fun to learn) 2. Story mode (got weird at the end but overall pretty good story) 3. Kameos ( a pretty good idea and a bunch of the kameos are fun to use, if a little broken) 4. Cosmetics (the cosmetics from the shop, while they are pretty overpriced, range from decent to really great) 5. Guest characters (all the guest DLC characters are fun to play with and fit MK well) 6. Towers (ik that its standard for every MK game but I feel like the tower endings in this game are pretty good) 7. Fatalities (we have a lot of the best fatalities in MK history in MK1, such as lui kangs black hole fatality) 8. Brutalities (easier to excute and still very satisfying to pull off after a long combo) 9. Load speed (you can get into games very quickly, so its easier to do offline matches with friends) 10. Proximity chat (its also fun to have some banter with your opponent while playing) I kinda ran out things to say at the end but i tried my best 😂
It’s crazy how this was once a respected IP because they cared about their IP now it’s like let’s get millions at the expense of the consumer and quality of the project. It feels so weird that there’s a new mk out (MK1) and I decided to wait and see how they treat the game instead of just getting it on day one. It was a good decision that I didn’t do that.
1: The gameplay: It’s easy and straight to the point, and i have my 50/50 win streak, slighly leaning on the winning side, unliky most fighting games when the losing streaks are high. 2. The Shrine: I like the randomness of it, you never know what you’re going to get, and when you get a skin for a fighter, it feels so good! 3. Intro dialogues: NRS are the kings of this, even with the two line exchanges, especially the Guest Characters for the most part. Instead of just being John Cena, Peacemaker feels like Peacemaker, no forced 'YOU CAN'T SEE ME!' to Kenshi, he actually treats him with respect. 4. Stage transitions: Instead of loading the stages, the fight is ready to go when the intros are over, even sooner if you skipped them. I frist saw this when I was 17, and It’s so smooth. 5. Season Shine. While not perfect, I find it really fun to collect coins to buy skins and gear just by playing online. 6. Lui Kang. I love that’s he's a god now, and not in a Mary sue way with proper limitations to his power that he choose to have. I aslo love that Lui Kang is moving further away from his Bruce Lee roots, instead of just being a copy and paste like most of the other Bruce Lee instpired fighters. Liu kang for smash! 7. Baraka: I love a disease that turns you into a monster, that's real horror here. Unlike most fatalities, he and Milenna can technically stay in character while doing them while you can pin thier disease on it. Even though some people think that MK characters killing thier opponents, the most iconic part of the franchise, 'ruins' thier characters, it's nice when it makes actual sense. Uneeded, but a nice touch. 8. Kombat League: While i never got Elder God on neither MK or MK11, it was still cool to get rewards while playing online, unlike most fighting games. 9. Stages: Amazing. So much deatil, they’re long, and the different versions change so much. 10. Since the frist trailer of this game back in May, it has been so Hype! I watched all of the trialers with my Mum, and I loved her reactions. The disspoiment of certain characters insfed of others, the excitement, everything. But the stand out for me was the Kombat pack. Unlike the rest of us, she didn’t know the characters what would be in it, and when she saw Homelamder, she lost her pants. Completely. I have this game to thank for that memory.
10 good things: 1) good roster purely by the characters, we have the classic and important characters (scorpion, liu kang, shao khan, sindel, kitana, mileena, sub zero and so on) with returning 3D era characters that a big part of the community wanted to have back, (like havik, reiko and ashrah); 2) a good choice of guest character and characters for dlc, (gameplay aside, no one can deny the characters they chose are loved and a very good choice for the season 1 dlc, something tekken kinda struggles; 3) graphics, I know I bash the style but it's undeniable the graphics are very realistic with good choice of color for the maps. 4) it's easy to learn characters, so just like smash you can main more characters much more easily than sf or tekken. 5) every character, dlc included gets interactions between all the cast and an arcade ending, so guest characters always have a reason to exist, and you get to have a context on why characters fight, for example I don't know why chun li fights herself, or why devil jin has beef with lili and needs to fight her, I can only assume chun li ate some super mario like mushro, and lili wants to make devil jin her butler, I don't know. 6) the story mode is long and satisfying with loved characters like reptile and baraka finally getting respect, and a great story, it fumbles a bit in the end but personally I liked the over the top ending, and I know many others that do too, being comic book fans. 7) the gore, present in all mk games, but it's still something that is good for mk, especially when it's basically the only or almost the only game with fights where you get realistic damage, and not just dirt. 8) the modding community is very passionate, and you can use mods easily, and nrs so far didn't attack any modders as far as I know. 9) AI voices for mk characters are available, and there are many funny video or even a universe with AI voices like the AI presidents. 10) quitality and fatalities, if someone quits he's not rewarded like how it's kinda happening in tekken, cause he is disrespected, and you can be toxic without being called toxic thanks to fatalities cause everyone likes em, while in tekken if you ki charge your called toxic. 11) international love, it's a great song, and many found this song thanks to the memes. This was hard to write, I don't play mk1, but I am an mk fan, and I know objectively mk1 is a bad game, and subjectively it often is worse. But hey I did the best I can for that sparkling zero.
Mr Hollow I went against you in Shambolic Showdown in T8 (No Heat Edition). I won a round but got swept right after. I got the rub bro. I’m coming close to Blue rank based on what I learned off that one match. Thanks.
Toxic community will remain a toxic community from “Pro Players” harassing and bullying casuals to the amount of negativity that still remains around to this day since 9 is absolutely absurd
When Ermac came out I genuinely thought the game was heading into the right direction but nah, since Homelander is released we’ve gone back to square one where we have too many bugs and glitches.
It's obvious from the way that they've shown Ermac from the story and from the way they released him that they've probably been working on them for a while and that's why he was so cool. Everyone else was reused animations.
List of good things about MK1: 1). I like they tried something new with the kameo system. Even if you don't like it, it's good to try new things. 2). Training mode makes going back to previous more popular MK games somewhat obsolete. I know because I tried - I played all the old school MK games up to Deception as a kid, and missed out on MK9 and MKX entirely. Word of mouth for MK1 was so bad I downloaded MKX to try it out, and quickly found myself uninterested because the training mode didn't give me viable tools to actually excel online to the extent I had with MK1. So I stuck with MK1 (warts and all). 3). MK1 gave me incentive to step outside of my bubble of habitually choosing Sub Zero and Scorpion or Baraka in favor of revitalized characters, such as Ashrah. So again, it's forcing me to try new things. 4). MK1 completely re-invigorated my love for fighting games - a passion of mine left more or less dormant since I was really young. 5). MK1 also forced me to purchase Tekken 8 and SF6 to see what all the fuss was about. Surely if MK1 was the worst thing ever and I still enjoy it, these other games must be amazing... sure enough, they were. 6). Having peaked my interest in fighting games I learned many mechanics that are universal to all fighting games - footsies, neutral, plus on block, frame data - things you wouldn't care to look into unless you were truly passionate about fighting games. 7). I love the combos in MK1. Seeing all the different combos with different kameos routinely pulled me back into the game when I thought I was done out of frustration with all the games bugs and glitches. It had things that kept me coming back, even when everything I heard on the internet and RUclips was telling me it was a dumpster fire. 8). Because I had so many learning tools at my disposal in training mode, I actually took the competitive aspect of it online somewhat seriously seeing as how the built in-game training gave me hope competing against seasoned veterans of the game (at my peak I was #1 demigod in crossplay last season). 9). From what I understand, story mode is better than it's competition - although I must admit in competitive fighting games or videogames in general I could care less about stories. 10). I've wasted countless hours watching this game burn to the ground with a launch that is comparable to disastrous plot lines I had witnessed in National Lampoon's Vacation movies. I had actual visions of Ed Boon as Clark Griswold screaming at the staff of NRS: "No crossplay? Someone get WB on the phone... let's see if we can get another super hero for DLC, and if not.... maybe Goldust from the WWE.." ~ something to that effect. I've been quite entertained watching people scream and yell about this game, particularly Tom Brady - which is another good thing about the game because had it not had such a botched release I would've never found Tom's podcast..
1. Story of characters like Baraka and Reptile are much better in MK1 then previous titles 2. It had a pretty decent roster selection 3. They basically retcon the retcon on Sindels character 4. Although different from what we got in the past I did like the stage designs for this. 5. I like how they handled reptile, with him switching between his reptile and human form 6. I liked how they handled Ermacs move set and most importantly that they gave him a mask 7. Cyrax's fatality. That is without a doubt my favorite Kameo fatality with frost being my second favorite. They are so goofy but still feels old school MK fatals. Funny but quick 8. The fact that you can do brutalities and Fatalities with the Kameos 9. I do like that we got to see Jarred in the story and his reunion with his family 10. I did like fighting the Kombat Combined characters during the final chapter of the story mode. Man that was tough. I really had to think hard to come up with some of these
I won’t play one because of how I felt about 11 at launch. I remember getting my hand on the case and remember being flooded with loot boxes and a currency grind against bs towers at launch 11. So yeah I’m sad to see that I was correct cause the gameplay looks very… fun..
It genuinly makes me upset as a mortal kombat fan to see people defending the sorry state of the game when they could all be making there voices heard so NRS actually makes a fun game.
Mk1 is like paying for a fully priced brand new car. Then you later learn it doesn't come with air conditioning, heating, power windows and it has half the horse power of the previous model. Then, the dealer asks you to pay extra if you'd like any of those "additional" features or you can earn them by driving 100,000 miles each.
Sonic fox forgets he dunks on the game and cries loud until nrs tweaks something in his favor. After that he loves it again. They named a mkxl trophy after him and mentioned him in the credits song on mk1.
Okay, can we just talk about how WB is literally ruining all of my fighting games. They literally ruined multiverses and have the same toxic positivity issues. I don't know why every consumer for WB is just blatantly defending them for no good reason, while all they've done is misrepresent all of the things we love.
10 Good things about mortal kombat: 1. The animations of the characters are simply gorgeous and are able to blend realism and vibrant colors to create some beautiful visuals and cutscenes that make the story bearable 2. The environments and set pieces of the mode are definitely a joy to look at, from the unique mansion of Johnny Cage, The hanging gardens, the living forest are such strong stage locations 3. The character interactions in the story mode are definitely enjoyable especially Johnny Cage and Kendhi, watching their relationship grow is definitely a highlight experience when you’re playing the story mode 4. Having Omni man and Homelander in the game with a diverse move set is something that i appreciate, neither of them feel like one another and that makes doing 1v1s with them far more fun. 5. The voice acting with exception to Megan Fox are all appealing to listen to and embody the life of the characters they’re portraying on screen. My favorites being Johnny Cage, Mileena, Sindel, Kenshi and shang tsung. 6. Shang Tsung having his iconic mask, glad Nrs can learn from their kindergarten intelligence sometimes, Ermac having the mask makes the design perfect and i like Ermac so that’s a banger 7.The ending cutscenes in the arcade being more connected to the canon future of the series instead of them just being filled you do just ffs. It gives a nice interesting idea of what the future of the nrs timeline can be. 8. Shang Tsung win in mk 11 becoming canon. I love shang tsung and if i was at rock bottom and bought mk 11, i woulda picked my goat Shang Tsung so having his win become canon and him being the only villain to actually win a mk game ( it counting Shao Kahn in armageddon) is a nice change of pace from the usual jobbing considering Shang Tsung run in aftermath 9.Sindel not being evil and Nrs learning from their kindergarten level intelligence is at least pleasurable to see, her being a strong empress and maternal figure gives me memories of the deadly alliance which had the best Sindel 10. A good majority of the story is enjoyable before it revolves because of multiverse. The series does the reboot quite interestingly and switches things up while not having much frustrating changes to the timeline, it’s able to definitely stand strong but that is until it goes bad in the last 4 chapters. 11. This garbage game is going to be the reason i could get Dragin ball sparkling zero. Let it be known, i will main kid Buu because he is the definition of a smoke demon and i will absolutely and his move set is always fun. IF baby Vegeta is in the game…then i declare war on every goku black main. gotta show them what a body hopping goat look like
i don't mind Evo , but i want to talk about how the writing has been stagnant ever since MK9. Mk has always been about this cool tournament full of different fighters who had unique abilities , not time travel or anything. And how the gameplay fell off since how terrible was MK11 . I think mk should be sold to another company because of how badly NRS and WB are ruining it.
Real talk social media makes everyone look fragile. MK, sf, tekken, gg all of them. Even the non fighting games. Most ppl feel a need to champion things they like. Social media seems like a war zone over egos representing logos. Like when vara dark was talking about mk1 changed classic costumes and got so much heat from the MK community. Anyway. Great topic great video.
While there are valid criticisms about MK1, that statement is not completely cope... there's some truth to that. It's not everyone, obviously, but there really are people out there who never played an MK game bashing MK1 to look cool around their peers.
Just search for old hall of hype videos where you find capcom players in the mk9 era openly talking about NRS games in an extremely hateful manner. (Literally the same propaganda for a good decade) It's been like this forever, I've had TOs tell me that they're not solving an in person tournament issue that is 100% their fault simply on the notion that the game is an nrs tittle and they don't care about it. I don't think its copium, its the little fgc bubble where they actually believe that since people gather in a room to compete it equates to success and I guess at that lower scope level of production that you get on other fgs you have to since they have a hard time selling their games and the fgc validation is just a weird flex that no game needs. Play your game and be happy If you hate the game you're playing play another one At the end, games are made to sell a product, not to be accepted over a sample number as low as 10k people on a weekend in las vegas.
Just a quick point, want my voice heard here on something I disagree with: I think people are misunderstanding Alana’s Pearce when she says “situational disability.” From the context of her statement, I think it’s clear that she’s turning a phrase to discuss “things that disable you in a situation” and not comparing having a child to having a disability. I think some people when discussing this are being disingenuous, but I think most are just misunderstanding her. Language is fluid and she’s merely speaking a little flowery to discuss contexts in which a pause button would be useful. Her follow-up statements on Twitter confirm this. Great video!!!
18:45 bruh, i started to watch your channel BECAUSE you're able to say what I'm thinking about mk1, from across the pond, in a better way than i can... Also when there's different views, i appreciate the explanations behind your thoughts and i fully respect it. However, i tried to regularly visit the MK Reddit last season for about two weeks and, holy shit, there are some absolutely delusional individuals there. I made a comment that was NOT as explicitly critical as i typically am, and i honestly believed i was being slightly positive and i was instantly met with [paraphrasing] "bullshit, no one thinks that - that's just rage bait" Like, holy hell, that cesspool of an echo chamber is just unbearable. The only reason i lasted two weeks in that 'community" is because of a couple people posting super helpful guides/tips to facilitate the Invasions grind.
Appreciate you watching the content, bro, and yeah unfortunately there are some very unhinged individuals on that forum. Rose tinted glasses. There's no getting through to them.
The more we can talk about the game itself without attachments to communities, the better imo. Sure the clowning of other communities won’t be the root cause but it sure doesn’t help. Simply put, If I assume you don’t like pancakes, which I love & you of all people try to convince me this particular pancake is trash, your arguments are a lot less likely to land. That being said, MK1 is so bad that me, a longtime mk fan, decided to abandon it completely & give SF6 a proper shot and ended up loving it. I’d love NRS to do better but I highly doubt i’ll ever play MK again 💀
MK1 is a mid game that i play because i've played MK my whole life. We need another MK9 WB and NRS need another MK9. I'm not sure Ed Boon wants or knows how to make another MK9. I'm never preordering another game from WB again though that much is for certain.
I used to cope on the game months after release but nowadays I feel ripped off lol. Other than the gameplay and characters. I wouldn’t have any other reason to play the game, I remember I couldn’t upload matches because the replay system was broken for the entire season of Sub-Zero and the patch that was supposed to fix it, didn’t do anything until the peacemaker update. At this point I just make fun of the game like how I did during MK11 lol. Not because I love doing it but because I love MK still otherwise I wouldn’t even shit talk it.
MK1 defenders are like "do not mess with the multimillionaire company!😤😡" as they are charged 70 dollars for an action game written by Disney Marvel (they would support companies turning games into casinos)
@@RealMikeHollow The only valid complaint is if you had the original version of DMC 3 and you're playing on hard mode instead of normal mode because of the screw-up of Japan lol
Been a Mortal Kombat fan since the 90's. If I have learned one thing, it's that people in the "community" are the very definition of "Useless Contrarians". They don't want to believe there is anything wrong with their game so they don't. They want it to be hype and the best fighting game on the block and just absolutely refuse to accept reality. I don't like it either. I have HATED these past two games and I would love to see a proper return to form like MK9... ... But I am a Silent Hill fan, too, and THAT franchise honestly should have just died (for its own sake) after SH4. Seeing its rotting corpse getting puppeteered yet again by Konami for the 8th soon to be 11th time in a row after 20 years of nothing but garbage games... Yeah, I'd have preferred to see no games at all. Mortal Kombat isn't nearly as far along as Silent Hill, but the quality of the last couple games is certainly on par with how NOT in-tune with the IP they are. Learn to criticize what you love. It's the ONLY way this turns around.
1. The Story Mode Is Pretty Fun And Satisfying 2. The Most Recent Update Made The Game Much Better Than When It Released Even With The Proceeding Updates 3. The Models Look Absolutely Amazing And Have Great Animation 4. Skins Are Fire 5. The Customization Are Pretty Dope. They Have Their Flaws I Feel, But I Do Think They Are Some Of The Best 6. The Maps Are Pretty Dope. I Like The Aliens That Appear In The Background 7. They Brought Back The Amazing Soundtracks From Previous Games And Added Some Bangers On Top Of That 8. Haven’t Had Many Problems Online And The Game Is Very Quick To Load Up After Finding A Match 9. Most Of The Cast Are Hot. Gotta Have Something To Look At While I’m Kicking Cans 10. DOORYA! You Said Ten For Tekken, Right?
Alright, here I go, so wish me luck: 1. MK1 is, from a graphical standpoint, an amazing game 2. MK1 has by far the most vibrant colors of almost any MK game period 3. The removal of stage interactions allows the dev to make some of the prettiest stages in MK history, especially ones like the Shaolin Training Grounds and the Living Forest 4. The facial capture in the rendered cutscenes is some of the best in the industry 5. The story mode itself is almost certainly the best story mode MK has ever had, even with its crappy ending 6. Long-time jobbers like Reptile and Baraka finally take the spotlight in the story mode, and they finally get to be cool 7. The return to the old meter system (mostly), though hardly an actual upside cause literally anything was better than MK11 8. The revitalization of classic 3D era characters who haven’t been playable in ages was cool 9. Re-introduction of air kombat is awesome since I love games with air combos 10. And finally, MK1 is the only fighting game with ultra wide support, thanks Gauze Hopefully these all count as positives, as I know many of these are hella divisive, but gimme a break, this game is hard to come up with 10 good things lol.
MK take's its self to seriously. From 90's tongue in cheek cool factor to mid-life crisis. Plus the series has always been bit of a basic bitch mechanically compared to other fighter's
It's absolutely shambolic seeing mk shills make excuses. People are still playing smash bros ultimate, street fighter 6, tekken but mk1 is dead. There's a plethora reasons why the mk1 shills just don't wanna hear it
@@Section8dc exactly my man. People need to realize when everyone is saying the same thing maybe it's true haha. Hope NRS gets burned over this, all they did was water down and nerf everything. Driest mk game to current date.
@@MiiMagus93 yah I like it more than mk11 but its still trash, at this point I've completely moved to Tekken and SF, NRS cares way more about getting likes on Twitter than actually making a solid game that will last
@@Section8dcI like mk11 more but tbh I agree with you. Truer words never spoken my guy. NRS needs to take their head out their ass. Care more about Twitter than their fan base
I’m not commenting to say the game is good I just want Sparkling Zero lol. #10 The Baraka we got in story mode has been the best, compelling version of the character. #9 Mileena and Kitana being blood sisters makes their dynamic more personal. #8 Sindel feeling like a true leader of Outworld and not just an evil love interest for Shao Kahn. #7 The game is beautiful and I know some people prefer the realistic look of MK11 but MK1 is visually beautiful. #6 The star power of Kombat Pack 1. Shame to not have Anthony Starr voice act Homelander but the likeness to him is uncanny and John Cena voice acting Peacemaker is awesome as well as J.K. Simmons Voicing Omni-Man. #5 Liu Kang and Kitana finally getting their kiss after years of building up to it. #4 Geras has been improved in every way since MK11. His nobleness, loyalty, and friendship to Liu Kang makes him more interesting and likable. Arguably has the best fatality in the entire game. #3 Controversial opinion but I believe human Raiden was done well. He’s charming and has charisma but is humble and grateful for his opportunity to be the champion of Earthrealm. #2 Smoke being the adopted brother of Scorpion and Sub-Zero added a layer to the character that felt missing from the previous timeline. Yuri did so well voicing him, couldn’t have asked for better. #1 Reptile being the best looking male in the entire game. Him being an entirely different species but managing to look like that is so funny. I know I didn’t mention any good things about the mechanics or the online experience but it’s because there really isn’t. I have loved MK since a young age, I remember watching fatality videos when I was 6-7 years old and hiding it from my parents so they wouldn’t get upset. My dad saw what I was watching said that was one of his favorite fighting games growing up. I am now 19 years old and I still love it, so knowing the state it’s in is heartbreaking but I don’t believe it’s fair for people to say it’s what our community deserves. We should want better for the future games not praying on its downfall
I hate how this game really got the SF5 treatment and they ruined this game big time. Like Invasions dropped the ball, we can barely get dragon krystals, the outfits were too expensive and this game is broken as fuck. The people defending this game aren't really looking at the reality of what it's at.
great video bro, but me i hope NRS looks at whats been going since the release, take a hard look at themselves and say you know what ....next game will be a Banger. this situation have to humble them
The thing is the majority of MK players don’t care about any of these things the FGC does. They just want to play as license characters, do a few combos, then do some customization after tower unlocks.
1. Cross-Collaboration: MK1 is great at utilizing media to create fire crossovers. Homelander, Omni-Man, and Peacemaker are characters that really fit into MK1 due to how naturally gorey their respective series get. I can’t deny MK1 has some really fun ones 2. Cinematic Choreography: MK1, in contrast to its gameplay, has very fluid fight choreography in its cutscenes. The cinematically engaging experience you get playing through the story is quite impressive, and the cinematography is the GOAT so far imo. 3. Character Redesigns: I think a lot of characters look a lot better than their MK11 counterparts. Personally this is my favorite Kitana look of all time (beats toe-girl from MK11 and low-end stripper for MK9 imo). I think they did a pretty decent job balancing the designs between an amazonian warrior and pretty princess, and would say *most* of these characters follow that same agenda. 4. Name Reset: While I’m pretty indifferent *on* the actual name (Mortal Kombat 1), I think it was a cool thing they did in lieu with the storyline reset and was a necessary thing. 5. Stage Visuals: The stages undeniably are absolutely beautiful and memorable in MK1. Eden Garden is genuinely one of the most beautiful stages in all of MK in my opinion. They absolutely put an extra level of detail in stage design. 6. Tarkat Retcon: I think from a story standpoint Tarkatan being turned into a virus instead of just a race of people is a very cool addition, and makes the Tarkatan characters in the franchise actually capable of having depth instead of being brainless murder machines. 7. Character Story Arcs: While the story itself was mediocre in my opinion I can’t deny that it was great seeing characters that usually don’t get any shine have their own respective story arcs. While I think the new timeline is pretty wack as a whole, the *individual* lore dropped on specific characters due to the freedom of a completely open timeline is liberating and refreshing. It also allows for previous tarnished characters to finally get their own shine (Baraka, Reptile) 8. Alternate Kostume Designs: I’m not gonna get into how shitty the *process* for getting new costumes is, or how egregious the MTX are. All I want to prefix is how beautiful the alternate kostumes look - the art team definitely cooked when designing the alt kostumes this time around. 9. Sound FX: While the VA of certain characters is beyond garbage, the actual sound design of the game is actually really fucking good. Pair this with the MCU style cinematography and you quite literally have a movie experience 10. Roster: While the roster is missing some notable characters that will come back later in DLC, the homage paid to 3D era MK this time around is pretty cool. Characters that have been long since forgotten have returned this time around. Other then these 10 things the game fucking sucks lmao, All things listed are pros with MK - but the issue is that in most of these pros, they take a step forward and then a step back. For example, the sound design is amazing but they insist on spending half the FX budget to get Megan Fox on board for 1/10 voice acting lmaoo. Or they have these beautiful alt kostumes with knots tied into the lore, but they are all ultimately locked behind predatory paywalls and shitty grindy gamemodes. Last but not least the core gameplay feels the clunkiest it really ever has. i had to rack my fucking brain tryna come up with 10 things for you bro, because every good thing about the game is paired with a bad thing. i can’t come up with anything else lmao. leaving that to the hall of fame MK glazers email is mastercrafterd@gmail.com btw ;)
Bro i saw an Mk fan telling this about Cyber ninjas possible gender swap : "they *never* had a certain gender cuz they were robots so it's ok if they're women now" 💀 My mouth just dropped
what amazes me the most mike (my names mike too lol) is the fact that people say theres "a million good things" and yet do NOT share ANYTHING about those said good things. Ok if you think MK is in its best spot ever than do please elaborate. Its not hard. The amount of energy it took to say "people are haters on mk and have been for years" you could of easily explained exactly why its not true? thats because there is no deffense. I actually sat down here for a a few mins and really tried hard to come up with 5 things i like about mk1 let alone 10 and The ONLY thing i can come up with is that i like the timeline differences... which litterally has NOTHING to do with balance patches and combat mechanics. I played sooo many characters in MKX and i love that game to death. Mk1 i picked up baraka and only play baraka and everyone feels bland and uninspired. Great video as always! PS: Xombat speaking facts and kudos to him for not being afraid to speak the hell up
@@shwickid222 I think there are a lot of good things about this game, regarding the big picture gameplay. Each character actually has interesting mechanics and tools, unlike mk11 which had everyone playing the same. That game also used toe variation system as an excuse to make bare bones characters that you had to fill with variation moves, and you still didn't have enough slots to make a good character. Mk1 has a lot of creativity in its combos and offense. It's just sad to see them fail in every other aspect of the game.
Also another take on that tweet " other game OGs don't dare pick up MK1, won't beat us in it" something like that, I remember PR Rog doing well in Injustice 1 and 2 among others like you already mentioned. FChamp did okay too in Injustice 1 with Sinestro for a bit
I was thinking about actually trying to describe 10 good things about the game to see if I could but like I don’t have the willpower. I guess the story mode is the least shit out of all the nrs games barring the ending? That’s pretty much the one thing that jumped to mind aside from the admittedly good sound design. Like the hits wouldn’t feel satisfying at all if the sound design wasn’t this good since the animations are so… yeah. And credit where it’s due the voice acting (besides the elephant in the room) is also very good. Funny how I have to mention negatives alongside the positives wow I wonder why
With people like Sonic fox playing the game competitively it's no wonder why people don't want to play the game at EVO.Toxic people like Sonic are draining to be around.
Personally I love mk1 gameplay wise (I can speak on this because I have 1500hrs on the game) but it does have it's problems. I play on PC and the game feels fine and is now has 60 fps cutscenes. My biggest issue with MK1 is the balance. JC being the top preforming fighter for almost a year is insanity. Everyone is saying to buff the other characters but they genuinely have to nerf JC. His kit is so good that it's literally unbeatable, even by peacemaker when he was broken. JC literally ruins the game. Also, they need to buff the weaker Kameos. They did a great job with the Sonya buff but they also need to buff her flying punch as well. And Frost needs a huge buff as well because you're at a disadvantage when you use her. They need to rework the chip damage system. Games should never end with chip damage and there should be a way to regen health when chipped. Also they need to nerf Ambush Kameo offense projectiles making everything safe. It makes the game boring when the fighter is pushing offense nonstop because they can't get punished. They need to buff Havik and Scorpion and they need to add rooms to KOTH and add online practice. Personally I love invasions. I think it's a good way to divert from online and take a break and do fun little challenges. I know there's only 1 piece of gear per character but I have WAY more skins now than I did in 11 because of invasions. I think in 11 scorpion had like 27 skins and rn I have 81 different skins on scorpion. People that say the Krypt was better are actually coping because all it's ever been was a stylized lootbox sym, especially in 11. I do love the game but it has its problems. Also, increase the speed of the game. 10 good things (IMO) The roster is amazing. It's great the old characters have returned. The story mode was really good as it gave characters the most personality that the series has ever had. All of the characters are very diverse and have unique gameplay styles compared to the old games. The stages are absolutely beautiful. Vibrant and full of life and I love that they have alternates The Music in the game is amazing. Made by casey edwards the guy that made the devil trigger song. Controverse opinion but I love the kameos. The Kameos have potential to add brand new things to the game (Shuji, Janet, Tremor) Reptile and Baraka transition from jobbers to main characters. The stance switch button actually doing something on certain characters rather than being completely uselss. Another controversial opinion but I like invasions and the fun mini games that they've added. The fatalities are really good/gruesome in this game and I love that Kameos have awesome/funny fatalities too.
@@RealMikeHollow I’m happy I ran into your channel. It’s cool seeing legit criticisms rather than “MK1 is a terrible game”. I think the game is good and can be great if they honestly just start with fixing the balance in the game. Subscribing 🤙🏽
1.they had some interesting lore changes such as mileena and kitana being biological twins 2.its easily accessible to newcomers and easy to understand 3. Cyrax and sektors classic design was beautifully made 4.the cutscene where Scorpion and subzero have their falling out was well choreographed 5.kaiji tang as sub zero was good he did a great job delivering lines 6.online is hilarious because you find very toxic people and it’s funny fighting them 7.the lin kuei ninja designs were simple but effective 8.the representation for the 3d era was on point I didn’t think they would actually add reiko 9. Some of the classic fatalities executed by the kameos were beautiful example:cyrax blowing up the planet 10. It made me want to play other fighting games and I thank mk1 for that🙃 Some of this was me coping with the fact mk1 sucks currently but there are some I do believe in and also I really want sparking zero😂
SonicFox did show up for a Tekken 8 Tournament a while ago, I think it was Dreamhack Dallas, and he reached far considering how many entries there were, but not anywhere near Top 8
1- Most Stages are Beautiful and the way they make some shaders and costumes look is cool and make it worth changing up maps 2- The Characters have some decent and creative new looks 3- I like most if not all of the coice work, especially props to the Shang Tsung Guy 4- Its super easy to play so no rust after days/weeks/months without 5- Every time I uninstall it I get space for two extra games 6- The Terrible Font reminds me of the pretty funny SNL skit Ryan Gosling did about Papyrus 7- The fatalities are usually long enough to get a bong hit or a drink in 8- Its very easy to make sarcastic reasons about (now that im over the disappointment mostly) 9- The Season of blood had some really cool skins, big fan of the red that was a better red than from the season before 10- Love that they made endless mode bullshit past like 14 matches, used to enjoy getting long stretches in online watching shows on my laptop but im probably better off now I do that with Tekken 8 instead
Ten good things about mk1 1 voice acting- you’d be lying if you said the voice acting wasn’t good, with the exception of nitara, but that’s not a valid debunking, you wouldn’t say a movie was ruined because one bad actor in it. 2-colorful/world design- I understand some people might not enjoy the brighter tone compared to previous mks but many do, maps are bright and generally take place in more happy places then mk11 and are more realistic compared to tekkens backgrounds of insane stuff like an asteroid. 3- story mode, not perfect but for a fighting game story mode it was pretty good, I liked it more then tekken seven where akuma got involved. 4- guest characters, it’s awesome to be able to play as characters that look so cool on tv, they are all well done and feel like the characters they represent. Omni man flys quickly and hits hard, peacemaker looks goofy and uses all his tools from the show, homelander was executed the best as he’s always flying and since in the boys tv show he didn’t learn how to fight in game he just throws haymakers like a child. 5-cosmetic quality, the cosmetics are expensive but I think most will agree they’ve made some interesting ones, reptile mileena, kitana earthrealm clothes come to mind, creative and cool looking, Johnny Indiana jones, plenty of examples if you look up cool mk1 skins 6- graphics, it looks much more realistic then tekken or most fighting games, this paired with brighter colors makes it beautiful, characters also often have moves with lots of color, like li meis purple or reikos red, kitana blue, mileena pink. So lots of color and it helps distinguish characters. 7- challenges for skins, a lot of people might not want to grind for the harder to get skins but for the ones who are dedicated it is a nice bonus, and the grind has to exist to keep the really hardcore players involved, 8-kameo system, first of all I like having my character always have all their moves instead of in variations. But cameos are cool, they allow for the same characters to be played differently, not to mention that it allows more fam favorite characters to make an appearance in game. For example playing omni man with jax means you want to be in the air, playing him with sareena means you’ll be in the ground more but have more range. Same character with the same moves but different play style. Also it allows for people to come up with combos that have more paths because different cameos give different combos. 9-realistic people, as opposed to street fighter or tekken where there are 400 pound guys jumping and spinning mk1 has more realistic character design. Think zangief from sf6 or king and the bears from tekken. 10- animations, in many other fighting games characters will have moves that look physically impossible, tekken has many. In mk1 characters are obviously very strong and able to jump/ have more power then real people, but when they do a kick it doesn’t look like they should’ve broken they’re back. 11(in case you refute or argue one of the previous), character uniqueness, in tekken characters have different roles they fall into, but for the most part you could most moves and switch them between characters and it wouldn’t be noticed. Like it’s mostly punches and kicks so most models could do that. In mk1 it’s punches and kicks but they have specialties to them, like raiden has elcticity in his strings, li mie has sparks and use of her dragon thing. Plenty of examples I don’t know how you reach out to me or if you’ll even see this. Just reply and I’ll see it, Im also subscribed because even though I disagree with some points I agree with many.
I know it's a month old video and I'm not doing it for the competition but rather to offer someone else view: 1. Story campaign - not only does it feel like a real movie with fantastic motion capture even on faces, the universe reboot is done well imho because the characters were still themselves even though their lives and circumstances were slightly different. Also the twist on Liu Kang's and Raiden's switched roles was very interesting. 2. Anatomy of the fighters, they look more realistic than ever and it's exactly what I was waiting for ever since Deadly Alliance when character proportions were out of control. They look very much like real people with minimal stylization. Especially Kitana - oof. 3. Gameplay is so smooth - movement and combos feel very responsive and fluid, yet again, comparing to MKX and older games. 4. Kameos - as someone who played the series since its very start, it's nice to see OG Kano and Sonya in the likeness of not only Elizabeth Malecki, but Kerri Hoskins as well. 5. In connection to #4, we are getting old school costumes for all the returning characters, slowly, but steadily and I appreciate it greatly. I wonder if we ever get any old school stages as well? 6. The combat system is actually quite complex yet easy to understand - tutorials really helped me get into it as a casual player. Plus getting koins as a reward for learning feels like a sweet treat on top. 7. Mastery - I actually like that you can level your characters up, including kameos, you are rewarded for playing your favorite character. 8. Stages - Omg so much improvement. Some of them feel quite cluttered and I'd probably enjoy some simpler stages like the pit from the 1st MK, but they are beautiful and other fighting games could learn from them. 9. They keep adding new stuff and patches, so it's not like the devs don't care at all. I'd love to see what the final stage of the game will look like. Hopefully something that will give us back the faith in the franchise and get us pumped for the sequel. 10. Invasions - I'm not saying I overly like them or anything, but I don't mind them, they make for a nice pastime, plus they throw things at you that you haven't seen before like different character variations. Bonus: They finally acknowledged the inspiration for Johnny Cage with JCVD skin, I'd love to see skins for the other inspired actors for Sonya - Cynthia Rothrock, and Liu Kang - Bruce Lee.
One thing I'd never want to do is downplay someone's valid criticism on ANY topic. It only stops progression. This is probably why MK is in the state it's in, because there is a large amount of people doing stuff like this especially on reddit, one of the only places NRS communicates with us.
9:42 You know what? This is something that’s been on my mind for while, so I’ll just say it. Invasions is just Mario Party if Mortal Kombat characters got transported to it. Also, Omni-Man, Peacemaker, and Homelander feel completely out of place in a game like this.
10 good things about mk1 with descriptions 1. The mechanics for mk1 are mostly good and most mk11 mechanics didn’t return ( cheap krushing blows, safe fatal blows, unfair breakway system) 2. All characters having seasonal skins (unlike mk11, only 4 or 5 characters had seasonal skins in kombat league and some characters in mk11 usually got skins like scorpion, but someone like kollector or dvorah rarely got skins which was unfair to who mained them, having a season store with everyone at least getting a pallet is nice) 3. the main roster (i think the roster for mk1 is great and better than the last 2 mk games, and the best rosters since mk9,they brought back the 3d era with the fan favorite classic characters) 4. stages (the have really beautiful stages like the sun do, or hanging gardens, living forest and have very gross and gory stages like the flesh pits, also having a day/night stage for some stages are great) 5. upblock mechanic (i think upblock was a good idea to add and stops players from jumping all game, and feels rewarding when you land it, it was very annoying to deal with jumping in mk11) 6. having most character rewards in mastery (i like that the more i play my characters i get the rewards like alternative skins, fatals and brutals with taunts, in other mk games it was random in the krypt which took long to get gear and skins i wanted) 7. fatal blows being more unsafe (i think this is a positive looking back at mk11, mk11 is where people throw out the move and be safe, this time you can punish which is a plus for the gameplay) 8. accessibility options for color blindness, vocal, detail audio effects( i do like the accessibility options, most other games don’t have good options like mk1, i do have hearing problems so being able to raise the volume when someone is blocking or moving is a plus for me) 9. combos (the game actually has combos which are fun, unlike mk11 this game is like mk9 and mkx where there is more than one combo to do, there is sareena, mavado, scorpion and janet combo extensions which can be fun,i do like i can combo off throws with kameos,or combo off setups traps with mavado or frost) 10. story (i do think for the most part the story was great, especially as a reptile, bi han, baraka fan they had a chance to shine in a nrs story, also showing how kuai lang gets the scar, how kenshi got blinded, having kitana and mileena having a sister relationship together with sindel, undoing sindels retcon, showing raiden becoming the champion and gaining his powers, playing through johnny cage acting for a movie, the deadly alliance ect) even tho there’s a lot of bad with the game i think there is some good, there is more bad than good with the game but it can be fixed. It’s up to wb and the devs to fix the game and somewhat up to us to be vocal about the product which can help make the game better. those are my good 10 things hope you see this mike :)
You forgot a very good point...Sikander555 who has been carrying this game only due to his personality. He is the reason MK1 can be interesting to watch, and despite all the negative things he has to say about the game he still streams for the people. True legend.
"mileena having a sister relationship together with sindel, undoing sindels retcon"- The fact that Mileena is Kitana's older sibling, heir to the throne and Sindel's own daughter, is not only Mileena's retcon, but also Sindel's and Kitana's at the same time. It amazes me how everyone whines about Sindel's "retcon" in MK11 (which was not strictly speaking a retcon), but this perversion is applauded.
The only thing I give MK1 credit for is Invasions mode updates. Although the mode is very unfun. If want to unlock some free colors or costumes for characters you can get some. Wish the same happened for SF World Tour Mode for SF6 and Arcade Quest for Tekken in the future
Like I don’t even play mk but I still don’t have a bias against it, anyone who plays fighting games can literally just look into the stuff surrounding the mk community,Mrs, and the game and clearly see that nrs is straight up ignoring and getting over on their players. If capcom or Bandai pulled the stuff nrs is doing they’d be in flames (they won’t pull an nrs because they actually care for the community)
I play MK1 daily and the game is not as bad as comments make it out to be. Yea invasions is trash and they need to buff some cameos and characters. But that’s really it. Yea the micro transactions are annoying but that’s every game nowadays. I just don’t see why everybody complains so much. I play tekken and the only thing really better about Tekken is the customization
Omg thats unbelievable really, there's no shame if you like the game, but the whole denial it's like trying to hide the sun with a finger, and the worst part is like you said, everyone else had to suffer the state of the game cause Its "great" as It is
I don’t feel sorry for majority of Mortal Kombat community because they have zero self respect because they are afraid to say the blunt truth.

Baraka and Reptile being good guys wasn't a bad thing but im with you 100% on the Raiden issue. He was my favorite character up until mk1.
Something I'll add to that is how they handled Scorpion. Scorpion has always been a tragic character and thoygh he deserves justice and redemption, they didnt do it very well in my opinion.

It's hard for gameplay to be worse than mk11
Lack of content when we have a whole dlc pack and kameos out already is a crazy complaint every thing else I agree with
@@aidanayala2768content compared to past entries.

Factos..WB is defo the main problem because its not only MK they have crippled..the Arkham games too and look at the horrendous sucide squad game

@@RealMikeHollowI will like to point out that the Pokémon community likes to inhale the same copium for their games too. They’re just as bad.
Id argue the Pokemon community is worse. Pokemon dickriders wear helmets and need hand holding in public settings

-Mileena and Kitana's relationship. I love em being ACTUAL caring family
-Nitara being back despite the atrocious voice acting

I was shocked with what I've seen posted. It's like they live in a bubble.
This is the black pills MK fans need to accept:
- Mortal Kombat is not a fighting game, it is a 1v1 action game.
Skullgirls was made in the west, isn't that a good fighting game? Edit*I just noticed you wrote "series," so a single title wouldn't count.

I like MK1, I enjoy playing it, but I can accept that people view it as trash, I even share the similar criticisms about it.
Also no on should be paying attention to the perfection guy, he’s just a xenoverse troll that likes rage baiting people to get views.
Yeah, after watching a bunch of his videos I concluded he's not all there in the head.
I'm too broke for it right now lol
(That doesn't say a lot, but it had to be mentioned.) Lol

The main trouble is that that someone like me, who likes the game, would want to play something else. I love MK1, I just love strive more

@Pianohnonono don't forget about the online. The connection is still not great
1. Gameplay (combos are fun to do and fun to learn)
2. Story mode (got weird at the end but overall pretty good story)
3. Kameos ( a pretty good idea and a bunch of the kameos are fun to use, if a little broken)
4. Cosmetics (the cosmetics from the shop, while they are pretty overpriced, range from decent to really great)
5. Guest characters (all the guest DLC characters are fun to play with and fit MK well)
6. Towers (ik that its standard for every MK game but I feel like the tower endings in this game are pretty good)
7. Fatalities (we have a lot of the best fatalities in MK history in MK1, such as lui kangs black hole fatality)
8. Brutalities (easier to excute and still very satisfying to pull off after a long combo)
9. Load speed (you can get into games very quickly, so its easier to do offline matches with friends)
10. Proximity chat (its also fun to have some banter with your opponent while playing)
I kinda ran out things to say at the end but i tried my best 😂
Idk why this didn't go through I posted this literally yesterday
9:54 What a quote, these people actually tried to say "Well see how you feel about the game at 250 hours and come back"
10 good things:
1) good roster purely by the characters, we have the classic and important characters (scorpion, liu kang, shao khan, sindel, kitana, mileena, sub zero and so on) with returning 3D era characters that a big part of the community wanted to have back, (like havik, reiko and ashrah);
2) a good choice of guest character and characters for dlc, (gameplay aside, no one can deny the characters they chose are loved and a very good choice for the season 1 dlc, something tekken kinda struggles;
3) graphics, I know I bash the style but it's undeniable the graphics are very realistic with good choice of color for the maps.
We will read these out in the video we do on this. Stay tuned ☝🏾
Mr Hollow I went against you in Shambolic Showdown in T8 (No Heat Edition). I won a round but got swept right after.
I got the rub bro. I’m coming close to Blue rank based on what I learned off that one match. Thanks.
Happy to help, brother. I remember fighting you. Will be doing another one this Saturday so hope to see you there ☝🏾

List of good things about MK1:
1. Story of characters like Baraka and Reptile are much better in MK1 then previous titles
2. It had a pretty decent roster selection
3. They basically retcon the retcon on Sindels character
4. Although different from what we got in the past I did like the stage designs for this.
5. I like how they handled reptile, with him switching between his reptile and human form
6. I liked how they handled Ermacs move set and most importantly that they gave him a mask
7. Cyrax's fatality. That is without a doubt my favorite Kameo fatality with frost being my second favorite. They are so goofy but still feels old school MK fatals. Funny but quick
8. The fact that you can do brutalities and Fatalities with the Kameos
9. I do like that we got to see Jarred in the story and his reunion with his family
I can’t believe mk fans still talking about tekken 8 is a bad game. SMH
10 Good things about mortal kombat:
1. The animations of the characters are simply gorgeous and are able to blend realism and vibrant colors to create some beautiful visuals and cutscenes that make the story bearable
2. The environments and set pieces of the mode are definitely a joy to look at, from the unique mansion of Johnny Cage, The hanging gardens, the living forest are such strong stage locations
3. The character interactions in the story mode are definitely enjoyable especially Johnny Cage and Kendhi, watching their relationship grow is definitely a highlight experience when you’re playing the story mode
6. Shang Tsung having his iconic mask, glad Nrs can learn from their kindergarten intelligence sometimes, Ermac having the mask makes the design perfect and i like Ermac so that’s a banger
7.The ending cutscenes in the arcade being more connected to the canon future of the series instead of them just being filled you do just ffs. It gives a nice interesting idea of what the future of the nrs timeline can be.
8. Shang Tsung win in mk 11 becoming canon. I love shang tsung and if i was at rock bottom and bought mk 11, i woulda picked my goat Shang Tsung so having his win become canon and him being the only villain to actually win a mk game ( it counting Shao Kahn in armageddon) is a nice change of pace from the usual jobbing considering Shang Tsung run in aftermath
9.Sindel not being evil and Nrs learning from their kindergarten level intelligence is at least pleasurable to see, her being a strong empress and maternal figure gives me memories of the deadly alliance which had the best Sindel
IF baby Vegeta is in the game…then i declare war on every goku black main. gotta show them what a body hopping goat look like
These will be read out tomorrow. Stay tuned ☝🏾
i don't mind Evo , but i want to talk about how the writing has been stagnant ever since MK9.
Thank you, Sir ☝🏾 appreciate you watching.
While there are valid criticisms about MK1, that statement is not completely cope... there's some truth to that.
It's not everyone, obviously, but there really are people out there who never played an MK game bashing MK1 to look cool around their peers.
Yep this is heavily downplayed.
Play your game and be happy
If you hate the game you're playing play another one

Just a quick point, want my voice heard here on something I disagree with:
I think people are misunderstanding Alana’s Pearce when she says “situational disability.” From the context of her statement, I think it’s clear that she’s turning a phrase to discuss “things that disable you in a situation” and not comparing having a child to having a disability. I think some people when discussing this are being disingenuous, but I think most are just misunderstanding her. Language is fluid and she’s merely speaking a little flowery to discuss contexts in which a pause button would be useful. Her follow-up statements on Twitter confirm this.
Great video!!!

bruh, i started to watch your channel BECAUSE you're able to say what I'm thinking about mk1, from across the pond, in a better way than i can...
Also when there's different views, i appreciate the explanations behind your thoughts and i fully respect it.
However, i tried to regularly visit the MK Reddit last season for about two weeks and, holy shit, there are some absolutely delusional individuals there.
I made a comment that was NOT as explicitly critical as i typically am, and i honestly believed i was being slightly positive and i was instantly met with [paraphrasing] "bullshit, no one thinks that - that's just rage bait"
Like, holy hell, that cesspool of an echo chamber is just unbearable.
Simply put,
If I assume you don’t like pancakes, which I love & you of all people try to convince me this particular pancake is trash, your arguments are a lot less likely to land.
MK1 defenders are like "do not mess with the multimillionaire company!😤😡" as they are charged 70 dollars for an action game written by Disney Marvel
(they would support companies turning games into casinos)
Yoo, is that Uncharted 4 Multiplayer gameplay? Wasn’t expecting it here for this channel.

1. The Story Mode Is Pretty Fun And Satisfying
2. The Most Recent Update Made The Game Much Better Than When It Released Even With The Proceeding Updates
3. The Models Look Absolutely Amazing And Have Great Animation
4. Skins Are Fire
5. The Customization Are Pretty Dope. They Have Their Flaws I Feel, But I Do Think They Are Some Of The Best
6. The Maps Are Pretty Dope. I Like The Aliens That Appear In The Background
7. They Brought Back The Amazing Soundtracks From Previous Games And Added Some Bangers On Top Of That
8. Haven’t Had Many Problems Online And The Game Is Very Quick To Load Up After Finding A Match
9. Most Of The Cast Are Hot. Gotta Have Something To Look At While I’m Kicking Cans
10. DOORYA!
You Said Ten For Tekken, Right?
That Smash Ultimate Practice Mode Comparison Had Me Dying
Alright, here I go, so wish me luck:
1. MK1 is, from a graphical standpoint, an amazing game
2. MK1 has by far the most vibrant colors of almost any MK game period
3. The removal of stage interactions allows the dev to make some of the prettiest stages in MK history, especially ones like the Shaolin Training Grounds and the Living Forest
4. The facial capture in the rendered cutscenes is some of the best in the industry
5. The story mode itself is almost certainly the best story mode MK has ever had, even with its crappy ending
6. Long-time jobbers like Reptile and Baraka finally take the spotlight in the story mode, and they finally get to be cool
7. The return to the old meter system (mostly), though hardly an actual upside cause literally anything was better than MK11
8. The revitalization of classic 3D era characters who haven’t been playable in ages was cool
9. Re-introduction of air kombat is awesome since I love games with air combos
10. And finally, MK1 is the only fighting game with ultra wide support, thanks Gauze
Hopefully these all count as positives, as I know many of these are hella divisive, but gimme a break, this game is hard to come up with 10 good things lol.
Don’t forget, we also have Amazon Superman
MK take's its self to seriously. From 90's tongue in cheek cool factor to mid-life crisis. Plus the series has always been bit of a basic bitch mechanically compared to other fighter's

I can’t deny MK1 has some really fun ones
It also allows for previous tarnished characters to finally get their own shine (Baraka, Reptile)
Pair this with the MCU style cinematography and you quite literally have a movie experience
Last but not least the core gameplay feels the clunkiest it really ever has. i had to rack my fucking brain tryna come up with 10 things for you bro, because every good thing about the game is paired with a bad thing. i can’t come up with anything else lmao. leaving that to the hall of fame MK glazers

what amazes me the most mike (my names mike too lol) is the fact that people say theres "a million good things" and yet do NOT share ANYTHING about those said good things.
At this point even if ed boon says mk1 is bad or has its flaws, people will talk against it like brainwashed monkeys

10 good things (IMO)
The roster is amazing. It's great the old characters have returned.
The story mode was really good as it gave characters the most personality that the series has ever had.
All of the characters are very diverse and have unique gameplay styles compared to the old games.
The stages are absolutely beautiful. Vibrant and full of life and I love that they have alternates
The Music in the game is amazing. Made by casey edwards the guy that made the devil trigger song.
Controverse opinion but I love the kameos. The Kameos have potential to add brand new things to the game (Shuji, Janet, Tremor)
Reptile and Baraka transition from jobbers to main characters.
The stance switch button actually doing something on certain characters rather than being completely uselss.
Another controversial opinion but I like invasions and the fun mini games that they've added.
The fatalities are really good/gruesome in this game and I love that Kameos have awesome/funny fatalities too.
I'll include this in the video ☝🏾
@@RealMikeHollow I’m happy I ran into your channel. It’s cool seeing legit criticisms rather than “MK1 is a terrible game”. I think the game is good and can be great if they honestly just start with fixing the balance in the game. Subscribing 🤙🏽
1.they had some interesting lore changes such as mileena and kitana being biological twins
2.its easily accessible to newcomers and easy to understand
3. Cyrax and sektors classic design was beautifully made
4.the cutscene where Scorpion and subzero have their falling out was well choreographed
5.kaiji tang as sub zero was good he did a great job delivering lines
6.online is hilarious because you find very toxic people and it’s funny fighting them
7.the lin kuei ninja designs were simple but effective
8.the representation for the 3d era was on point I didn’t think they would actually add reiko
9. Some of the classic fatalities executed by the kameos were beautiful example:cyrax blowing up the planet
10. It made me want to play other fighting games and I thank mk1 for that🙃
Some of this was me coping with the fact mk1 sucks currently but there are some I do believe in and also I really want sparking zero😂
😂😂 it'll be read out on the video to the judges. Stay tuned ☝🏾
SonicFox did show up for a Tekken 8 Tournament a while ago, I think it was Dreamhack Dallas, and he reached far considering how many entries there were, but not anywhere near Top 8
1- Most Stages are Beautiful and the way they make some shaders and costumes look is cool and make it worth changing up maps
2- The Characters have some decent and creative new looks
3- I like most if not all of the coice work, especially props to the Shang Tsung Guy
4- Its super easy to play so no rust after days/weeks/months without
5- Every time I uninstall it I get space for two extra games
6- The Terrible Font reminds me of the pretty funny SNL skit Ryan Gosling did about Papyrus
7- The fatalities are usually long enough to get a bong hit or a drink in
8- Its very easy to make sarcastic reasons about (now that im over the disappointment mostly)
9- The Season of blood had some really cool skins, big fan of the red that was a better red than from the season before
10- Love that they made endless mode bullshit past like 14 matches, used to enjoy getting long stretches in online watching shows on my laptop but im probably better off now I do that with Tekken 8 instead
I'll include this in the video ☝🏾
Ten good things about mk1
1 voice acting- you’d be lying if you said the voice acting wasn’t good, with the exception of nitara, but that’s not a valid debunking, you wouldn’t say a movie was ruined because one bad actor in it.
5-cosmetic quality, the cosmetics are expensive but I think most will agree they’ve made some interesting ones, reptile mileena, kitana earthrealm clothes come to mind, creative and cool looking, Johnny Indiana jones, plenty of examples if you look up cool mk1 skins
6- graphics, it looks much more realistic then tekken or most fighting games, this paired with brighter colors makes it beautiful, characters also often have moves with lots of color, like li meis purple or reikos red, kitana blue, mileena pink. So lots of color and it helps distinguish characters.
7- challenges for skins, a lot of people might not want to grind for the harder to get skins but for the ones who are dedicated it is a nice bonus, and the grind has to exist to keep the really hardcore players involved,
8-kameo system, first of all I like having my character always have all their moves instead of in variations.
Plenty of examples
I don’t know how you reach out to me or if you’ll even see this. Just reply and I’ll see it, Im also subscribed because even though I disagree with some points I agree with many.
I know it's a month old video and I'm not doing it for the competition but rather to offer someone else view:
I think people who say that forget that when those who make stupid suggestions on how to improve the game they are flamed for it
Calling Sparking zero Jump force should be a crime 🤦🏾
That guy is the worst.
10 good things about mk1 with descriptions
1. The mechanics for mk1 are mostly good and most mk11 mechanics didn’t return ( cheap krushing blows, safe fatal blows, unfair breakway system)
2. All characters having seasonal skins (unlike mk11, only 4 or 5 characters had seasonal skins in kombat league and some characters in mk11 usually got skins like scorpion, but someone like kollector or dvorah rarely got skins which was unfair to who mained them, having a season store with everyone at least getting a pallet is nice)
3. the main roster (i think the roster for mk1 is great and better than the last 2 mk games, and the best rosters since mk9,they brought back the 3d era with the fan favorite classic characters)
4. stages (the have really beautiful stages like the sun do, or hanging gardens, living forest and have very gross and gory stages like the flesh pits, also having a day/night stage for some stages are great)
5. upblock mechanic (i think upblock was a good idea to add and stops players from jumping all game, and feels rewarding when you land it, it was very annoying to deal with jumping in mk11)
6. having most character rewards in mastery (i like that the more i play my characters i get the rewards like alternative skins, fatals and brutals with taunts, in other mk games it was random in the krypt which took long to get gear and skins i wanted)
7. fatal blows being more unsafe (i think this is a positive looking back at mk11, mk11 is where people throw out the move and be safe, this time you can punish which is a plus for the gameplay)
8. accessibility options for color blindness, vocal, detail audio effects( i do like the accessibility options, most other games don’t have good options like mk1, i do have hearing problems so being able to raise the volume when someone is blocking or moving is a plus for me)
9. combos (the game actually has combos which are fun, unlike mk11 this game is like mk9 and mkx where there is more than one combo to do, there is sareena, mavado, scorpion and janet combo extensions which can be fun,i do like i can combo off throws with kameos,or combo off setups traps with mavado or frost)
10. story (i do think for the most part the
story was great, especially as a reptile, bi han, baraka fan they had a chance to shine in a nrs story, also showing how kuai lang gets the scar, how kenshi got blinded, having kitana and mileena having a sister relationship together with sindel, undoing sindels retcon, showing raiden becoming the champion and gaining his powers, playing through johnny cage acting for a movie, the deadly alliance ect)
even tho there’s a lot of bad with the game i think there is some good, there is more bad than good with the game but it can be fixed.
I'll be reading this out in the video we do on it. Stay tuned ☝🏾
Omg thats unbelievable really, there's no shame if you like the game, but the whole denial it's like trying to hide the sun with a finger, and the worst part is like you said, everyone else had to suffer the state of the game cause Its "great" as It is
NRS has been clowning on the MK community ever since MK11
