Thanks for the very informative video! I bought the SL60W and I've been very happy with it. I did find that it is underpowered when you try to mix it with ambient light during the day. Now I'm saving for something more powerful like the SL150ii.

@@SamHolland The SL200WII has its pros and cons that I outlined in my review but there's really not much choice if you want to move up in output from the 100 watt range lights that meets price, higher output and quality. The 200 gives me more lighting choices in use, though it would have been good if they made an SL300W version in the SLII series. :)
Hi, great video as always! I wanted your opinion, whether I should get two of the SL60 to have better lighting options or one SL150ii? This would be photography such a portraits (close up and full body)Thanks in advance!
Hi Marcus. Thank you and thanks for watching 🙏🏻 that’s a tough one. I would say as long as 60w is powerful enough for your photography, then go for 2 so you have options. BUT if you need the power, then go for the one 150. I hope that helps. Let me know what you go for 🤩👌🏻🎥
Hi and congratulations for the very clear video. Could you help me with one thing? I am planning to buy a green screen (3 metre large, 6 tall) and I was wondering how many lights I need? This green screen is supposed to film one or two persons with no particular actions, most of the time sitting. Do you think that two sl60 to enlight the screen and one Sl 60 for the subject are enought? Or should I consider a sl 100 or 150 for the subject? Thanks a lot and good luck!
Hi. When you’re doing green screen stuff, you want to make sure you light as much as possible so go for the most powerful and as many as you can afford. Maybe either 2x SL150 or 3x SL60w. There’s a good video from full time film maker on RUclips about this. I hope that helps 🙏🏻 Thank you for watching 🤩🎥
Awesome review! I'm looking for a light that can do both video and photography, does this one have enough output for product/portrait photography? Would you recommend getting a second SL150ii for a fill light, or does the SL60w have enough output for that job?
I would go for the sl150ii if you’re planning on doing a lot of slow motion or high frame rate stuff. If you’d rather save money, the sl60w will do, but you’d probably want an upgrade in the future. Go for the 150 if you can 🙏🏻
Hey there! Great video! I just got my SL150 ii, and when I compare lighting side-by-side to my SL60w, the new SL150w ii is noticeably greener than the SL60w? Do you find this to be the case with your lights? Or maybe my new SL150ii is defective? The SL60w light is like perfectly clear of any tint to my naked eye, but not at all the case with SL150ii... if it weren’t for that, I’d say the SL150ii is perfect

@@SamHolland actually I have just got the softbox and by watching at the softbox at 100% it is looking not that much bright let's see on camera how it looks!

If you had to choose, would you buy two SL60 units or one SL150? I need bright, soft and even light. Which should I buy if I can't afford two of the bigger lights?
If you need two lights for different scenarios then, yes, I’d get two. BUT if you need only 1 bright light, I’d go for the SL150ii. And then some sort of softbox. I have a video on those too 🙏🏻 thanks for watching. I hope that helps
Hey Sam, This is exactly what I need now! Thanks for the review. Can you use both unit (SL60w and SL150ii) at the same shot? I mean, do they output exact same color temperature or how big difference?
Hi. Thank you for watching 🙏🏻 personally i could get away with using both at the same time and I and many other people wouldn’t notice because I’m doing RUclips videos OR heavy colour grades on low budget music videos etc. However, I haven’t done any scientific testing as to how close the colours match. I think Gerald Undone May have done one. Worth checking out. Thanks again 🤩🎥
Hi, so basically I’m trying to light up a white room because I’m using it for filming and frequently in the day time since white is highly reflective I get different color casts on the wall (like blue shadows, green, etc) so I thought a solution would be to get some artificial studio lighting. So that I can achieve a nice, pure even white look throughout the room on film. (Background should have even white color) My subject will be about 2.5 meters away from the light in. I was told I need a 150 watt to evenly spread the light. I think I want to go with a basic stand and the Godox SL-150 W. Do you recommend this light first of all, and what soft box is good to achieve my goals? Tysm in advance.
Hi. Thanks for your message. I did a video about parabolic softboxes vs lantern style ones. That might be worth a watch. I think to evenly spread the light on your walls, the lantern may be good for you 👌🏻 let me know what you think. I hope this helps and thanks for watching 🙏🏻🎥🤩

Hi Sam. SL150ii LED Video Light has just arrived from Amazon. It has Barn door, 4 gels, plus gloves and cleaning fluid and a brush lol. Your review was spot on. I shall probably be ordering another one in fact.
Brilliant review Sam! Just one question about the light: how is the sl-150 getting power on locations? Is it using battery, or how do you get power to the light in locations where you don’t have access to power (like a dessert or something) If it’s not using battery, do you have any idea if you could by some kind of adapter and set up a battery to it?
Hi. Thanks for watching! 🙏🏻 to power this light at locations where there is no power outlet, you would need a generator or something as this runs off mains. There is something coming from Godox soon though 😉👌🏻
Such a great review - thank you! I am a still photographer just starting out offerring short 1-3 minutes branding videos for my clients as well. I am looking for a video light I can use both for a food/product photography (as a supplement to my strobes: Godox AD600 + AD200). Question 1: Do you think this newer ML60 will be powerful enough to help me make short branding videos - could be a ceramist working in different spots in her workspace - some close ups, some takes further away, but typically not far away in a huge room. I would like to be able to make a bit of slowmotion like you mention but this will typically be very close to the subject so I could bring the light close to it. Question 2: Would you recommend the VL150 or this SL150ii? Thank you a lot in advance - very great video from you 🙏🏻
Hi Susanne. The ML60 is a great light and should do you ok if you bring the light closer as you mentioned, but for the little extra, I recommend the SL150II 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻🎥🙏🏻 hope this helps
Well... this could start a war!! 😂 So I’ll keep it brief and it’s totally my opinion. I used Sony and I think they’re amazing. The specs on the new Sony are mind blowing but I just prefer the image of Canon cameras and lenses. What do you think?
@@SamHolland i totally understand where your coming from man because canon has that warm contrast look. but knowing that the sony a7siii totally redid their color science and aimed more for a sony venice look surprised me. just the fact that you no longer have to overexpose 2 stops in slog and that the slog base iso is 180, and now dual iso at 16,000 where it resets the noise is crazy too also, just the issues with overheating in the canon bugs me, and that the 4k 60 and 4k 120 is significantly less sharper than sony i guess for me, the pros of sony outweighs canon
Do you do a lot of slow motion? Cos I’d say you need that extra power of the 150 for the higher shutter speed stuff. Then you could use your leds as fill/rim lights.
Good stuff bro! Thanks for this. So I bought the VL150, but am wondering if I should return for the 60. I doubt I'll ever regret having more power, but at $240 I'm not sure that's needed. Any thoughts?
Hey thanks for watching. 🙏🏻 Awesome purchase! It’s up to you! If you need the money and you won’t use the extra power then maybe swap to the 60 however if you don’t need the money, i would recommend keeping the 150. Always good to have extra power in reserve! Hope that helps

Awh man another banger 👊🏾🔥
😂😂 amazing. Thanks bro 🙏🏻🎥
sam, thoughts on the a7siii ? are you getting it bro??
Well... this could start a war!! 😂 So I’ll keep it brief and it’s totally my opinion. I used Sony and I think they’re amazing. The specs on the new Sony are mind blowing but I just prefer the image of Canon cameras and lenses. What do you think?
@@SamHolland i totally understand where your coming from man because canon has that warm contrast look. but knowing that the sony a7siii totally redid their color science and aimed more for a sony venice look surprised me.
just the fact that you no longer have to overexpose 2 stops in slog and that the slog base iso is 180, and now dual iso at 16,000 where it resets the noise is crazy too
also, just the issues with overheating in the canon bugs me, and that the 4k 60 and 4k 120 is significantly less sharper than sony
i guess for me, the pros of sony outweighs canon
They’ve certainly come a long way 👌🏻
Does the sl150 have a vmount adapter?
Unfortunately it does not
Oh okay, also have you tested the VL150 if so would it be a good back light (flare) for a music video or would you recommend something more powerful?
Good job Sam
Thank you 🙏🏻🎥
does godox sl-60w have umbrella holder?
Hi Leonard. No it doesn’t but the 150 does 🙏🏻
Can someone confirm what is the neck diameter of both lights. My softbox diameter is 3 7/8" I want to know this light will fit into my softbox.
If it’s a Bowen’s mount it should go in 👌🏻🎥
I'm debating between 2-3 SL60W or 1 SL150ii. Tricky bro
Oooooo it all depends what you want to use it/them for 🙏🏻🎥
Key light I was thinking as I have so many LEDs .
Hi Sam, just stumbled across your channel. Love it! I have subscribed 👌. I'm loving the background you have in this video. Do you have a link to where I can get the same? Thanks again. Ross
Hi Ross! Thanks for watching and the sub! 🙏🏻🤩 if you’re in the UK I ordered it from Wex. It’s colorama paper rolls with lastolite by manfrotto stands. I did a video about what’s in my studio and I think I put the links in there 😂 I can’t remember. I hope that helps 🎥🙏🏻
Freaking informative video Sam but I'm waiting for your review on ML 60 from Godox 🤨
It’s right here ... ruclips.net/video/YjwyR-VX41g/видео.html
😂 thanks for watching. Glad you liked it 🙏🏻🎥
I needed this video. Thank you so much. New subscriber
You are welcome. I hope it helped 🙏🏻 which do you prefer? Thanks for watching and subscribing 🤩🎥
Sam Holland I think I will go in for the SL 150ii. I was actually thinking of 2 SL 60s since I don’t have any continuous lights
🤩🎥
Dude thank you
Thank YOU 🤩🙏🏻🎥
Thanks bro
Thank you! 🤩🙏🏻
I how thei make a sl60 mii. However, the 150 is so feature rich. Pretty sure I'll just go with that.
If you need the extra brightness then definitely 😃🎥
Sam, why don't you make a video on what is the best way and light to shoot overhead video for tech reviews unboxing or cooking, art..... etc?
Hi. I’ve done a video on product lighting which included different techniques. That could help? I’ll bare it in mind for the future though thank you 🙏🏻🎥
Where in the UK are you from?
Midlands based. 💪🏻🤩🎥
good!
lol kinda dumb comparison since one of them is literally more than twice the price of the other so it obviously needed to be better. Also they updated the fan on the SL60W too.
This is to help people who are wondering which one is best for their needs and their budget but thanks for watching 🙏🏻🎥
lol no peep
😂 there’s no peep
