New update just after release of video - Just few minutes ago customer service told, that Ikea Styrspel haves 3 years warranty like other Ikea gaming chairs.

Good to know as I just bought this thing. On the other hand there is a thing called expected lifespan of a produc here in Finlandt and with a gaming chair like this I'd guess it's about the same as your confirmed warranty. So if you use it in it's designed function the accountability of the manufacturerfor the product should be about the same as the 3 year warranty in this case. In my opinion you get a lot of chair for this price. By the way, the first thing I noticed about this chair at the store was about the coaster frame as the shape of it allows you to rest your feet on top of it. I like it. Works well with the changing seat- / back rest- / arm rest -angle for viewing of things, maybe not for productive work like typing.

@@randommtbing5631 Agreed on this one and it's best to find out what is warranty from local IKEA. First when I contacted em and they told, that there is no warranty - it felt impossible :D
For leaning backwards posture caster is good, but in normal use I always keep my kneecap in 90 degrees and then I bumb my legs to that ... Time will tell how this lasts :) Big thx for your comment!

That's terrible, considering that other chairs they've sold like the Markus came with 10 years warranty.

    • @yohan2437
      @yohan2437 Год назад +1

It is possible the warranty is not an indication of expected longevity but rather cost of materials for Ikea to replace? For example, perhaps the materials on the Markus are so cheap that it is affordable for Ikea to replace for a customer when faulty over a period of 10 yrs whereas it is more costly to replace parts for the Styrspel so they limit period to 3 yrs.

Hi! I'm also considering buying this chair. I tried out the display Styrspel at Ikea but it doesn't seem to glide easily even when you sit down... yes, it's a little bit easier to glide around sitting compared to when no one is sitting but it still seems difficult nonetheless. The wheels seem to be made out of rubber. I know at 5:16 on this video, you said that it's easy to glide but did it become more difficult to move later on?

Went to Ikea the other day to try out some office/gaming chairs as I’ve been desperately in need of one for a while. The main take away from the experience is just how important it is to try before you buy.
For some context, I’m 6 foot 5 inches tall, have scoliosis (curvature of the spine), which has been surgically fused with metal rods and pins. My spine is bent into the shape of an S, and it curves outwards at the bottom. As a result of this, good lumbar support for me is absolutely critical.
After looking online and at RUclips reviews, I thought I was going to end up with either the Markus or Jarvfjallet - and was also considering a much, much more pricey Secret Labs Titan Evo 2022 XL. When I tried the Jarvfjallet, I found the lumbar support okay - but the head support forcing my head forward too much, and the seat hard and unforgiving. The Markus was slightly better in the seat and headrest, but the lumbar support was absolutely diabolical.
While I was there, I also tried the Huvudspelare, the Utespelare, the Matchspel, and even the most expensive Gruppspel - all of which I found offered inadequate support, and aggravated my back pain.
This is where the Styrspel comes in. The height-adjustable lumber support offered the right amount of support exactly where I needed it. It doesn’t jut out too much for me, and it does that magic thing of being both supportive yet soft and comfy. The seat was also soft, yet not so soft that it leaves your back muscles compensating. The headrest also has just the right amount of firmness for me, it doesn’t stick out too far, and the height adjustability enables me to put it exactly where it’s needed. As a result, I’m now writing this while sitting on a Styrspel, as it was by far a way the best chair I sat on for me.
The real moral of this story however is the importance in trying before you buy. The Styrspel is perfect for me - but it might not be perfect for everyone. I’m very pleased I didn’t end up going for a Secret Labs Titan, not that I’ve tried one.
Do I have an criticism? Yeah - the wheels! They have their pros and cons; it’s nice to feel secure in one place while you’re working. But I would love to have the ability to move the chair while I’m not sitting on it without picking it up (you feel the heft of it more when you have a bad back).
Another little thing: I don’t know if anybody else has experienced this, but the bolthole where the headrest and chair attach did not align at all for me. I had to drill the hole in the chair to make it wider, and disassemble the headrest mechanism completely in order to re-tap the thread in it. I can’t imagine I’m the only one who’s experienced this manufacturing issue.
All in all however, this chair is an absolute life-saver for me, as it helps me be pain-free while I’m working. But to anyone looking at purchasing it, remember the golden rule: try before you buy.

Big thanks for nice reply! Yep - sometimes chair manufacturers attend to put too much curve forward on head and low back support - it might suit some, but not all. Best thing is to let it to be adjustable, so person can make it more comfortable depending on antropometrics. One thing i would also change is the wheels - regular good rolling ones would be more ideal solution perhaps to bigger population, but thats what they ended up. Yep - all needs to be tested out before buy and that's the recommendation in everything - too bad you cannot do it with all :D

Having been seating on this chair for a few days, I find that the Styrspel is more comfortable than what I have expected. The mesh material is especially credited for improving air ventillation and thus capable of being seated for long session without becoming sweaty. Further, the design and appearance of this chair is sharp and unique and distinguishes itself from the rest of Ikea office/gaming chairs. This chair is also egonomic in the sense that it matches my body curve well and provide sound head and lumbar support.
Of course, this chair has some downsides which I wish to mention. First the incline angle of the headrest could not be adjusted and thus it seems to be a bit odd in that it forces your head to look forward. Second for the armrest they are too easy to rotate horizontally and there is no way to lock them. Third the mesh seatpad may seem a bit too hard and inflexible for some people (as compared with cushions) and it certainly offers me a quite different sitting experience as I have had before.

I’m 184cm and around 110kg and the chair already sagged, makes noise(lumbar support) and both armrests have their rubber cracked and pieces fall off. I just got this chair. I was actually about to walk out with the Jarrfvjallet because it was slightly cheaper and couldnt decide but then this was in the deals section ready built for 160 GBP so i could not resist. At that price it was worth it although I loose the 3 year warranty and only get the standard 1 year. After speaking to one of the workers about the 10 year warranty (or sometimes 3 years) on chairs. Apparently it is not as it seems and it is really just a marketing gimmick. The terms and conditions are very shaky. It also may require for them to book in someone to come round to your house and assess it in the location it became non-functional. The date of the inspection could be a long time and also most time they do not give the go-ahead to proceed with the replacement. Anyway, I may post here in a few months or longer, if someone comes along and reminds me, and tell you how i am getting on with the Styrspel. At the moment it is great but I have only really just got it at my desk and had a long day of walking around IKEA! I am a slightly larger guy, and 6ft tall. What i didnt really test in store but am just realizing now is that the seat really doesn't like you sitting in an unorthodox position. This is both good and bad but I am used to sometimes leaning to the right or left or even putting my feet up and sitting cross-legged for a bit. This is just plain painful to do in this chair. We will see how i get on but i may feel quite restricted. Any feel free to remind me to post an update if you think it will help. Or tell me how crap the chair is after you having it for 2 months.

The wheels are a pain indeed. I don't know what were they thinking. The armrests feel weird too. It seems I can never find a proper position for them. I feel like my elbows always sliding off them no matter the position. I can't quite put my finger on it, whether it's a psychological thing after getting accustomed to Markus' rigid armrests or is that due to that unusual somewhat spongy material on top of them-I don't know. Anyway, I'm not a fan - they feel wobbly and not very comfortable.

I dont understand why the Markus chair has been hyped so much. I had to return both the Markus and Matchspel and go with the JarvfJallet. Why?
After using the Matchspel for only 4 days on an 8 hour shift, the issues I experienced are
    1. Seat is not padded well - every 20 mins i feel like i need to get off the chair as the seat is not comfortable at all. Ive been using the Milberget chair for years and this is far more comfortable
    2. When you recline there is a noise and its frankly annoying
    3. The thread on the seat had come off a little. This is the threading located on the top of the seat, and you will see a small line
    Now with the Markus
Initially it felt very comfortable. However you only realise when you work on in on an 8 hour shift.
    1. If you do not lock the chair, the chair constantly makes a Clonk noise and its very frustrating when you're on a call to a customer and need to focus carefully
    2. When you lock the chair, you still hear the clonk and it feels unstable at times
    3. The seat depth is similar to the Matchspel and my legs are mostly not supported. I am 6'1, 90KG, and this chair just does not work.
Reasons why I have settled on JarvfJallet
    1. Seat depth adjustment. You can pull the seat pan out so it will help if you're 6 foot or above
    2. The seat whilst being firm is much better than the Matchspel. See spec on ikea the padding is double compared to Both markus and Jarvfjallet and its real leather. It's not perfect as its on the firm side and I think it should he slighly softer by around 25% to make it perfect
    3. Tilt is very smooth no noises when you recline and no clonk noise. There is only very slight movement when it is locked. Nothing compared to Markus.
    4. Lumbar support is much nicer than Markus. If you dont recline on the Markus the lumber support is OK. As soon as you recline its in an awkward position.
    5. Arm rests are better compared to Matchspel. Markus are the worst!
Of course the JarvfJallet is not perfect at all but its by far the best ikea office chair in my opinion. I've tried all the gaming chairs in store and personally I would steer away from these. Only the Markus and JarvfJallet felt comfortable at store and to be fair the Markus had the initial wow factor, but day to day it just does not work.
I'll be looking at the HM Embody and Steelcase gesture in the future when hopefully.I have moved house. The JarvfJallet is fine for now and I'll simply pass it on to the Mrs once we have moved, as she likes the look of it as we have the white version.
My advise is to think long term. And unfortunately this may result in returning the chair. And, ikea have the worst return policy! You literally have to to argue with customer services and if you're lucky youll get store credit. I somehow managed to get the store credit but it involved hours of arguing, and speaking to the manager. For folks that dont know their policy, it's basically once opened, if its not a quality issue you must to keep it. And they will only exchange the chair for the same one if the chair has been damaged during assembly, and this is only if you have brought it using the ikea family card. Not great.

Great job there @irfanpatel564! In depth brief in there! As you mentioned, every chair have it's own flaws and you need to truly test em out to find out what is case in every chair. HM Embody or Steelcases chairs are at they're own league in price and in quality of product. HM would be lovely to see and test how do they manage - i've read a lot about em and watched few videos, but it would be best to have em in test run. Where do you live if i may ask?

    • @pt_sakkinen
      @pt_sakkinen  Год назад +1

I prefer chairs where you can adjust the backrest angle freely which alloweds more opportunities for adjustments. For a taller person or a person who has longer shin the chair would be more comfortable and a good option. For me the pressure under the kneekap was building up pressure causing discomfort, so a working day sitting in the chair would seem like a long day. If your frame is similiar to mine, I would suggest to seek out for another chair. In secondhand markets there are plenty of great choices. For example in this link - ruclips.net/video/S0ZKUMJ5L5s/видео.html you`ll find this kind of chairs can be found on secondhand markets and they are REALLY solid.
