      I have a Versa gear chair, rated for 450+ lbs, i'm 230, it started falling apart in 2 months. With covid I had issues contacting customer support, then they changed their file warranty methods. In the end I never got any help with the chair and after 14 months, the bolts have snapped, it nearly reclines all the way to the floor. The metal frame as streched bolt holes because low grade metal. Never buy these pleather chairs. One of the worst purchases in my life. I paid nearly 500.00 for this chair, I would love to post photos of it for an extended warranty!

    These seem to focus on design rather than functionality. The design is the selling point. About 15 years ago I got sucked into the $99 faux leather office chair from a big office store. Sure it felt great during the 15 to 20 minutes time I tested it at store but for hours at home I soon realized I had made a big mistake and returned it.

      i bought a $100 computer chair like 20 years ago at the store and it was insanely comfortable. i spent hours a day at my computer and never once felt uncomfortable in that chair, i often fell asleep in it. it didn't recline or anything but it rocked a little bit. wish i could remember what brand it was though because from the sound of it, it was far more comfortable than these gaming chairs that cost far more money.

    I love how gaming chairs are "hugging" me. For sitting in front of PC, tight seat (like in sport car) is much more comfortable for me than ergonomic chair or even huge livingroom armchair. Thats why I decided for Gaming chairs. Only disadvantage i see, is that i cant sit cross legged, which i would like to time to time. Headrest is dealbreaker for me too.

All I keep hearing is get a office chair, gaming chairs are shit and then proceeds to tell something that's just way to expensive. I can't afford those at the moment so what is the next step??

    • @kevGrajeda09
      @kevGrajeda09 6 месяцев назад +9

      In reality if you are spending around 100$ then a pretty decent office chair will suffice. Gaming chairs are cool looking and comfortable. There is a point when they're like $250+ when you're wasting money. A 500 dollar gaming chair is probably real leather an may have usb ports or speakers. At that end you are paying hundreds of dollars extra for branding and inconsequential features. The dud in the video is looking through a pretty narrow scope of gaming chairs. There are better chairs at a better price point. At the end of the day i would recommend sitting in a chair before you buy it. Whether it is a friends chair or a store display, That way you know what you are looking for in a chair.

    my bf has a gaming chair and anytime I sit in it to play games on his computer, I can't go for more than 2 hours because the chair causes so much back pain. I've found a lot of gaming chairs either have a flat back with no curve, or they curve so you have to slouch a bit to fit in them. I got an old office chair from Huntington Bank through a friend (Huntington was donating a bunch of chairs to his company) and I can sit in it for 10 hours with no problems. There is no need for a race car seat when you're sitting at a desk

  • @rangerdoc1029

    In my case, a gaming chair was the most comfortable for my office. I have degenerative disk disease & the pronounced curve ("lumbar support") in office chairs is excruciatingly painful. I got a fully loaded Aeron thinking the adjustability would be best. It was unusable for me.
    A Flat back & seat is the only arrangement that is not painful. Once you remove the lumbar pillow, these gaming chairs provide just that & at a fraction of the cost. The only difficulty is finding one that doesn't look like it should be equipped with fart cans & a spoiler.

    The chair game is crazy, son! I started spending more time at my desk since I purchased a new headphone, dac, amp set up. I quickly realized that my DX Racer with the RGB lights was not a great chair for relaxing to music. 😁
    Started researching comfortable chairs and had no idea how much a chair matters and how much knowledge is out there. They are even chair tier list that are actually more useful than fighting game character tier list!
    This channel is legit. They helped me narrow it down to the Amia, Embody, and the Leap V2. Went with the Embody and this may be the best purchase I made in years! Once I got it all dialed in, it’s been nothing but maximum comfort!
    The unexpected thing that I love about the embody is that it dances to music with your body. When bopping your back and shoulders to the music, the chair bops with you while supporting your back. Dope!
    Had the Embody for about a week and I am kicking my self for not investing in a quality chair sooner!

    I’m a Senior 3D Character Artist, I draw a lot on a tablet, bc of this I have to lean forward a lot and do active work, I use a Hag Pulse saddle seat that I modified to suit me. Only with a saddle seat or a forward tilt chairs will u be able to go into the natural s shape posture for the spine! All these chairs have that 90 degree angle which puts the spine in a c shape or a straight line if leaning on the back rest.

    I may be a little out there when it comes to an opinion on this. But I miss my 'gaming chair' and I think I am going to go back to one very soon.
    When my old gaming chair finally bit the dust after four years, I researched and everyone pointed to the ergo office chairs. So I went with one. Struggled a year with it and started getting back pain from it. No matter how I adjusted it I just couldn't get it right. I never had this issue with my old chair. I just felt that from my shoulders up I had zero support and it would make me hunch forward, making the problem even worse.
    I then went with an 'executive' style chair and although it's comfortable, I run into the same issues. It's fine for sitting back and watching RUclips and what not, but when you are "active" as in engaged in a game or reading an article, I start hunching forward.
    With the gaming chair I had in the past, my back pains I had prior went away. I felt like I could just sit back and the chair would support me and force me to maintain a proper posture while I was sitting in it.
    That's just me though.

    The other reason why people don’t get a gaming chair is because of the material. PU leather after some time, especially in warmer climates, commonly peels off after prolonged use/exposure to humidity, so its very nasty for long term durability. It’s also less comfortable/sweat-friendly than a mesh chair in my opinion.
    Gaming chairs with fabric upholstery are more breathable too but they tend to cost more and stain a lot more easily. That’s why my setup has a full mesh chair instead of the Secretlab and I never regretted my choice✌🏻

      I bought the DXRacer Ocelot World chair ages ago, something like 7 years, give or take. The build quality was great and still 'feels expensive', even the seat foam has hardly compressed with God knows how many thousands of butt-hours (I spend ALOT of time at my comp). Still, after a couple of years that PU leather was already starting to fail, and now it looks a total mess. Good comfort still, but embarrassing to look at. That's the last time I buy a PU Leather chair, it's like a built-in shelf life.

    ok, so im a 52 y old fellow working in IT, developing daily for 8-9 hrs not being able to go to the loo. Ive been having a serious backache for 20y, hernia combined with rigid muscles in my back. The BEST is the gamer chair for me, and here it is why:
    1. you can set the back of the chair completely vertically - i cannot exist without this.
    2. you can fix the back of the chair at any given angle so it stays where it is, you can lean against it
    3. you can lift the arms of the chair
    4. you can move the arms of the chair horizontally
    5. you have the flexible cushion behind your waist
    6. you have the flexible cushion behind your neck
    7. the back of the chair is very high supporting even my head and neck so i can lean on it when im tired
    No office chair at Jysk/Ikea/etc can come even close to it.
    The only problem is that the seat below my butt is not long enough. But im 194 cm / 6'4" , a former basketball player, i have looooong legs. :)

    Tendentious presentation. 1. Don't buy ANY chair that is not fit for you, try before you buy every posture you use sitting at your desk 2. Really cheap pillow can be changed for really good pillow, it's not truth that it's getting compressed that much and if such pillow exists - change the foam or pillow itself. Also you don't have to force your shoulders to be supported, don't be silly XD. 3. Truth, but not to the point that you're mention. You can strech a and move around actually. 4. Truth, mechanisms are less complex. It's not hard to recline on a racing style chair. You just have to set the spring tension that you have underneath. I can't imagine myself using it fully loosened. Also - hitting desk with your knees? Srsly? It's like telling ppl to not buy chair with wheels cus you can drive over your toes. Seat depth, cushions is all about points one and 2. 5 warranty coverage - chairs are not rockets, you can actually repair them easly and it's not something outstanding to see dxracer chair still operational after 15 years of abuse.

    • @btodtv
      @btodtv  Год назад

      Ergonomic chairs aren't meant to need pillows to support you. 2. Replacing a low end pillow, like DxRacer, with a high end one, from a brand like Secret Lab, changes nothing about the ergonomics of the chairs. It just feels little nicer to the touch. 3. You can move and stretch very, very little, and it is very uncomfortable compared to a chair that isn't designed with an all-steel frame that is meant to cradle you in one static position, like a racer. 4. Mechanisms are less complex Racers for sure. Its because they are the cheapest, lowest end mechs on the market. Its why they have a center tilt mech with terrible tension adjustments. The recline point is at the worst point possible, which makes reclining much more difficult than any of the other mechanisms because you are fighting gravity and your body weight. And yes, hitting your knees is a problem. We mention it on Racers because this is not a problem on a chair with a proper mechanism. Mentioning that you may roll over your toe doesn't make a ton of sense because all chairs have wheels and therefore all share the same risk. We are talking about different recline mechs here and how they function differently. 5. I completely disagree that chairs are easy to repair, especially a DxRacer. Its why there is so much focus on warranties on the chair market. The parts are not readily available and accessible. they are not easy to swap and repair and low end chairs like DXRacer hardly hold up long enough to be worth repairing.15 years on a DxRacer? No Shot. -Ryan

      @jakubkazmierczak1837 Год назад +2

      @@btodtv They don't but it does not mean that they don't need. Science of 'proper posture' did not change vastly for 13 years, and it's based on ideas from 1970. 2. False. First of all every spine is different, every cushion is different, every foam is different. There are multiple ideas for lumbar support, from rolled towel to memory foam cushion. They come in different shapes and density which are in fact do impact your posture. You do realize that you can easly swap pillow filling dont you? 3. Sorry lad you said that it has none, as I said it was tendentious, now you prove my point. "You don't have ANY freedom of movement" does not equal 'very, very little', funny, english is not my first language and I understand it better than you. 4. Yes I do understand your point, but hitting your knees is your stupidity just like rolling over toes is. It's not the point against more simple mechs. I do find your opinion on 'hard recline' hard to believe as I have no problem with it at all. Even now I have no problems and I can go lower on string tension, which in fact you do not even care to mention that you have option to set it. No wonder why I saw ppl being amazed that there is actual big f knob under the base. 5. Lad, I did bought 2012 DX racer formula myself with damaged upholstery on the base, sqaeking like crazy. First you use lithium grease on every mechanical part, base bolts, clean and check bearing condition, grease, seal, grease, wheels grease or change (super simple). You have clear info how to do that on YT. Because those parts are easly avaible you can find them in every office chair that ends up in a dumpster for free. As for upholstery jopb, DX racer base cushion is super simple to remove it was my first time ever using needle and all modifications took me one day. Payed for a chair 12 USD, 28 USD for parts, material, new cushions from gt omega sidemen edition and roller skate style wheels. Show me any warranty that is cheaper than 28 USD and one day job which makes a chair even better in the end. I have a second one waiting to be repaired and sold for profit. Lad you know nothing about chair repair for sure. If you want I can PM you my chair photo, so you can see serial no. for yourself. Don't try to fool ppl Ryan, unless there is backseat upholstery dmg which I will try next time doing myself with new project every part of the chair can be repaired even for free with ease, and all parts are avaible on the market cuz these are not gaming chair parts - these are office chair parts with a fancy chair on top. Only broken steel frame can make chair a lost cause. You can buy used base or backrest from different chair thought but sometimes you have to be patient. You mentiones focus on warranties - yes - companies do care about warranties, offices need to be operational, there is no option to repair chair by the company and workers have to sit on something. There is also the lazy market, and from that lazy, uneducated or simply "i have no time for such thing' market when they're out of warranty I do buy chairs for lautghtable prices and sell those to the same 'lazy do DIY but I have no cash for a new fancy chair'.

    I get your point but the fact is office chairs on available prices are painful af. Most of us buys gaming chairs, because the cheap ones are actually better than cheap office chairs. The price of a secret lab chair is like 1 month of salary for me here. If I had that kind of money for "only" a chair, then I would probably buy the fancies office chair ever instead for sure, but ye.
    I only look for 3 most important things when buying these; have an armrest with built in pillow, these non pillowed ones (even your fancy office chair) are killing my elbow and lower arm. Second feature for me is a huge pillow on the sitting area. If it is too flat, it will hurt, no matter what kind of lumbard support you put on it. I need a comfy sitting first, then a comfy back. This is why yoga balls are good to sit on from time to time. 3d is now that it can have an adjustable back panel, you can lean back with it.
    Also I may be wrong, but I work in office environment for a huge company, I know we do not get "the best chairs" but I sincirely hate all of them. Every. Single. One. In my workplace. They are static, they charge most of my clothes and I get electrocuted once I touch any metal door handle, I can actually fall out of them, because of the lack of side support you mentioned as a bad feature. I really love that a chair is hugging me. I can even fall asleep in it, so comfy. My office chair has this built in lumbard support thing, and in theory it is adjustable. I cannot make it to stay. I adjust it, and it is in a completely different place in 2 minutes so I don't even bother. Thank god I have an adjustable table in the office so I can stand up for work sometimes.
    My "gaming" chair has a design of a gaming chair but I bought it as an "office boss racing chair". It is the best and most comfortable thing ever and was the cheapest. The only reason I will replace it is that it's literally melting away piece by piece.

    The metal frame on those gaming chairs put me through hell for years! If your looking for a decent chair that doesn't kill your back or keeps you locked in one position just go for the budget office chairs with the big cushions and flared up sides. Totally worth the money. I don't think anyone is buying these chairs to simulate a driving experience unless they have the all in one driving set, its more of a pervasive marketing campaign.

  • @alinazhou8028

    I find gaming chair seating to be larger and more plush, and that the pillow as lumbar support is better than frame based lumbar support. Office chair seating requires you to sit in a certain position, often resting your back on the back of the chair. You can rest your back on a gaming chair but pillow as lumbar support allows you to also sit forward in a variety of positions. The tilt lock on gaming chairs allows you to tilt your chair in a more comfortable position. For me, as someone working in a chair for 10 hours a day, office chairs look underwhelmingly designed, and they sit the same way too. I don't see the value in a Herman Miller Embody, Aeron, Stealcase Leap V2.

    Some chairs have a much firmer pillows, some chairs feel nice like the Cepter Rogue I tried. I live in Norway, I've struggled to find any reasonable chair, and the expensive office chairs aren't much better, but cost much more, I tried some that had worse back support than the gaming chair. the Cepter Rogue felt much better than the 4 times pricier Sedus chair I tried, so price alone, and gaming or not is not an indicator.
    Mot of the most recommended chairs aren't sold in Norway. For me at 181cm it it fit me well, pillows were adjustable enough, none of the issues you described were an issue for me n this chair.
    The expensive chair I tried actually was made of mostly plastic. despite the obscene cost.

      Changes nothing really. It’s still designed like a racing chair.

    Thank you for all the chair videos! They've given me a lot of good pointers to take into account. I sat in the Secret Lab Titan and was about to buy one, liking the integrated lumbar support in the 2022 model. Then I found out about Secret Lab's quality problems, and shady influencer marketing you mentioned. Trying to maximize the value for my money, I went from the EUR 600 Secret Lab to EUR 1500 Malmstolen 4000... It really hurts my wallet, but that is far better than my back hurting. On top of the superior comfort, I'm expecting to get much more years of use out of the proper office chair compared to a gaming chair.

    I have been using a DXRacer chair for gaming at home and selected it for the optional mouse pad armrest attachment. I do not game at a desk or table, but in front of flat-screen TVs. I would be interested in finding a more comfortable office chair with a mouse pad armrest, perhaps even an adjustable pivoting keyboard tray to get mine off of my lap. I haven't had any luck trying to track one down myself and I'd like to retire my current one, thanks!

      easily the most comfortable office chair i've bought, i actually like it more than the old aeron chair ($1k) i use to have at work

    I am curious what your thoughts are on LFGaming chairs. They are a brand (or a subsidiary?) of Lifeform chairs. Basically these are high-end custom office chairs with "gaming aesthetics" (not my cup of tea personally) but the ergonomics of a high-end executive chair. They are quite expensive though, which is unsurprising since they are custom made in Canada.

    It comes down to where the customers place the value. How many people wear uncomfortable clothes because they are stylish? I have never climbed inside a sports car that did not have issues getting in or getting out or not feeling every bump on the road. How many bikers ride bikes with rigid seats for comfort? Ergo-chairs are for people who work in an office environment and put a lot of hours sitting down. who wants to sit down and relax on a gaming chair? They are upright and rigid because while you are gaming, you are squirming around in any case. To me, what you have to watch out for is the actual chassis, the wheels, the arm-wobble and the gas cylinder that controls the height. Poor wheels drag, wobbly arms can be a pain in the neck and if the gas cylinder starts to loose pressure, then it is trash.

    Wish I had seen this video before.. I trully do!!!! All that was been told on this video is ABSOLUTELY true - and is a MUST Know! The Perfect (I mean Perfect!) Gaming chair review. I may say, this is more like a " the true who nobody told you about gaming chairs".
    Contrary to the reviews I saw before buying my chair - basically the same as the DXracer - mine is a Trust GXT, exactly same shape and materials - all reviews were amazing... All saying wonders! Hundreds of videos talking wonders about gaming chairs - I mean, not all chairs are bad, there are really good chair's, but they cost >400/500€$ - And that's a lot for a Chair. It cost's more than a High End Car Seat or a good Couch with massage - which is ridiculous!
    No, a gaming chair is not comfortable neither less ergonomic, specially the one's bellow 300/400€$. I though I was investing on something to my health, but in the end, I did exactly the opposite; I bought my Gaming chair precisely before the pandemics, so, same as many, I used the chair for 1y, many hours per day. What I won ? Serious spinal problems, including coccyx bone, hips and lumbar, which now make me get problems to walk due that - not mentioning the pain. Many thanks Trust GXT aka "Gaming Chairs" for that. I'm in doctor's, exams, and physiotherapy to try to recover - I hoped it would be, but that's no joke.
    At the beginning I though that I was being picky - I tried lot of ways to sit, but I was never 100% comfortable on the chair. As told on the video - Legs feels and are restricted due to the metal design, which don't let legs to move, and makes hips getting weird over time. Backrest has no support at all. The "extra" cushion does nothing despite make even a worst and a wrong sitting position, avoiding the spine to be properly supported and aligned. Without the extra cushion It's noticeable the lack of back support - so, it's bad on both ways, with or without the cushion. Once again, as said in the video the backrest flares / side-bolsters is the most ridiculous shape / idea EVER, for adult who has normal shoulder's, its the most disconformable possible shape. Shoulder's are not supported, in truth shoulder's are constantly in touch with that backrest flares which makes a permanent discomfort to shoulder's. To a 8-10Y little child body yeah, may be enough, to an adult person body !? Simply forget about that. At the time I tried to enlarge the backrest flares, in order to leave room to my shoulder's ( yeah, shame on me, for trying to fix something that was made to make the chair uncomfortable to an adult). PS: Without luck, hard metal, almost impossible to move, without damaging the chair. The head cushion, once again, a huge flaw. The cushions stays on the back instead the head. I had to remove hair cushion from his "proper" place to raise her a lot - Im 6" / 1.83m tall - once again; to a little kid body yeah, might work - not to and adult.
    Yeah, this " chair shape" is maybe good/safe for driving a Rally car, but not to a "comfortable and ergonomic chair" at home or office. A car driver seat have not that backrest flares shape - at all.
    Didn't forget to mention, that, after 1y, the seat foam simply disappeared/ become flat! Visually/aesthetically the chair it's still perfect, but while sitting, becomes the same as being sit on a rock - I'm a thin guy - so, was not due to excessive weight, was due to low quality foam! Since then, I started to have lot of coccyx pain and problems, who leads to many spine problems, including struggling to walk - serious issues which now limits my life and health. Looking back in time, I realise that my back health become lot of worst since I use the "gaming chair" - when the reason I bought this chair, was exactly to have a proper back support. I sold a "cheap" (comfortable) Office chair, to pay 250€ for a (sh*t) "gaming chair", who totally ruined my back health. So, I still use the "sh*t) "gaming chair", with pillows on the seat and backrest. I totally regret in to spend 250€ on a thing which destroyed my back health, instead of help and got proper back support and ergonomics - which was supposedly the goal and sense about "gaming chairs" in general right!? Wrong! Pure Marketing. For sure, who design this chairs, will never been sit on them, other way, they NEVER made a ridiculous uncomfortable chair, full of flaws and design/construction issues - not mentioning the lowest possible Foam quality - which, with luck, lasts 1 year without getting flat.
    I was searching videos on youtube about how to repair gaming chairs and put new foam, since I had the idea, to put new foam on it, properly - Seat & Backrest with proper support design, and make some adjustments in order to make a (minimal) confortable chair - and somehow I found this video, who perfectly match my experiencie with gaming chairs. Didn't find what I was looking for, but I find someone who told the real truth about "gaming" chairs - And I can confirm everything that was told in the video - TBH, I was watching, and feeling like if it was myself talking about the chair.
    So, a huge thanks for advertising other's people that "gaming chairs", are in truth a true Scam - once again not all chair's are the same, the high end/expensive one's are good, but 70% of gaming chairs sold are the ones similar to the DXracer in the video.
    Don't spend your money buying a "gaming" chair. Save your money and health, and just buy a good office chair, without "fancy" logo's, and useless stuff just because it's called "gaming chair".

    Gaming peripheral/hardware manufacturers known for their mice, keyboards, etc. delved into the gaming chair market a couple years after DXRacer became a big thing. I wished they went for more proprietary designs instead of using a cookie cutter design. Like a fully adjustable mesh chair with RGB lighting or something instead of using a bucket seat design. Logitech partnered with Herman miller to make an Embody chair to achieve the gamer aesthetic without the bucket seat design. The only bucket seat gaming chair that I find comfortable for long term sitting is the Maingear Forma GT. I’ve sat on one in micro center and removed the lumbar pillow and it still supports my lumbar.

    I think a big point missed in this review is that the gaming chairs use Cold Cure Foam (at least in the Secretlab) or some similar alternative.
    The big issue with this foam is that it starts out extremely firm, almost unforgiving, because by design it cannot lose its shape or the warranty will constantly require the company to replace parts. Despite this, I've found through experience that the foam can still become slightly damaged or rippeled under the fabric through extended use. You can feel little divots or tears that form in the material in time and can cause discomfort.
    In a way, its the worst of both worlds, a chair that is overly firm but also slowly disintegrates compared to a mesh chair.
    The other thing to consider with gaming chairs is that they are so large and so much material is used to construct the chair, that they cost a lot to manufacture. To keep costs down, corners are cut on quality of materials, or R&D.

    The question is tho, What do you want us to buy then? There is no other options rather then WORSE! If you want me to sit on a typical office chair for playing a moba game then you get a big nope buddy.
    BTW, You forgot 3 things that is wrong with these chairs.
    1: The armrest high adjustment is BS. It's allways too low and it makes you stretch your arms down all the time. It's like from 17cm to 23cm adjustment. It's not enough. For a FPS gamer or moba gamer I want to be able to sit lower and have the armrest higher. But I can't do that.
    2: The seat itself is too stiff. And it doesn't take long before that seat feels like you're sitting on a solid concrete block.
    3: The chair legs usually are too cheap. In about 3 years they will bend.

      Since you didn't mention if It had to be brand new, how about any refurbished Aeron, Mirra 2, Gesture, Leap V2 or Amia?

    Can you review the DXRacer Air Mesh? I know its a gaming chair, but its different because everything is mesh from back rest to seat.

      I strongly recommend ordering a Leap v2 refurbished from this channel. My original approach was to buy a used chair on Craigslist, but since I found btod's supply I've changed my mind.
      If you don't like the leap v2 then maybe the used market in your area would be the next best choice.

      Thank you very much. What are your thoughts on it? And what about the T50? I think you put the T50 as D tier because of the lumbar support so I am a little surprised for being it in this video.

    I like how some ppl get so triggered when you trash gaming chairs by exposing the BS they are. If you want to mess up your back and flush money down the toilet, be my guest.

    It really depends: If you want a chair purely for work, don't buy a gaming chair. But I really need a chair for a couple hours typing. Couple hours playing games and then just watching a movie. An Office Chair does me no good because you can't kick back and just relax in it. Now of course you could use two chairs but that's double the money and space.

    • @btodtv
      @btodtv  2 года назад

      Why cant you kick back and relax in an office chair? -RB

    • @johannesdolch
      @johannesdolch 2 года назад +1

      @@btodtv That's like asking: Why can't a Ferrari be a good Family Van? Because the exact features that make it a great work chair keep it from being a great leisure chair. e.g. flexibility -> lack of stability/rigidness; upright body posture -> lack of lazy comfort; mesh design -> lack of coziness. Asynchronous tilt -> No complete reclining function. etc. etc.

    • @btodtv
      @btodtv  2 года назад +1

      Why does rigid equate to kicking back and relaxing? A lazy boy isn’t rigid. My couch isn’t rigid. There is this weird mentality out there that only a gaming chair can be used to kick back and relax in even though an gaming chair is literally modeled after a sports car seat. It’s is not meant to be comfortable. A sports car seat is terrible. It’s like sitting in a hard, non padded version of a normal car seat. That’s a gaming chair. I’d take an equally priced office chair at my home desk setup anyway day over the best gaming chair. -RB
