    It is surprising how much a good chair will help you get through the day.
    Being a big and tallish guy, I really have to make sure I can fit into the chair.
    There are normally 3 measurements you need.
    Back to the knee, Bottom to your shoulder top, and outside thigh to outside thigh.
    And if you need your feet to touch the ground because you have short length. You need the knee to floor measurement.
    It will help you from tipping over.

I ended up with a Herman Miller Aeron but sometimes I wonder if I would've liked the Gesture more.

      lol I think for that price the chair just bends you over and has its way with you. There is no way that thing is worth $1700 and I have a feeling it is much more than that because he said the head rest was "optional". Nowadays optional is code word for you have to pay extra for this basic feature that every other product already includes for free.

    • @gregorymoore2877
      @gregorymoore2877 5 месяцев назад

      @@Steve-tk6xv Except not every chair comes with a head rest and not every person wants a head rest. So, if I can ditch the head rest (or any other feature I don't want) and save some money, that's awesome. Is the chair expensive? Yes. Is it built to last? Yes. I'd say it's worth it. The alternative is to buy a cheap chair that you'll want/need to replace in a few years. Replace the cheap chair enough times and the money you spent on junk chairs will equal or surpass the money you could have spent on a quality chair. Except you'll have a bunch of junk chairs you have to figure out what to do with. I choose the one quality chair. Maybe I'll save my back in the process?

    • @Steve-tk6xv
      @Steve-tk6xv 5 месяцев назад

      @@gregorymoore2877 The fact that you think they lowered the price because they "removed" a headrest just shows how naive you are. This is the same thing every company does. They charge a standard price for a product then they realize they can remove a feature and then they still charge the SAME price for that product but then they put that feature behind a paywall. This chair is $1700 it can come with the headrest and if you dont want it you can throw it out or store it somewhere. Also, there is nothing about this chair that says it is more quality then any other gaming chair. I have had expensive office chairs, expensive gaming chairs, and cheap chairs of all kinds and they all last about 3-5 years before the wheels start giving out, the cushions become warped, the fabric starts ripping. You have two options either try to replace those parts which will come out to the cost of a new chair or most cases they dont sell individual parts to replace so you end up buying a new one. This chair is clearly made out of the same thing as those chairs it is just designed slightly different. If you do the price calculations I can easily by 10 mid range chairs for the price of this one chair. Even if those 10 mid range chairs lasted 2 years a piece (which they will last much longer) there is no way this one chair is lasting 20 years or more.

    • @gregorymoore2877
      @gregorymoore2877 5 месяцев назад

      @@Steve-tk6xv When I shop the Steelcase website, I can decrease the price by $227 by not getting the headrest. So I'm not sure what you're talking about. Has the Gesture been around for 20 years to know whether it will last that long? The warranty is for 12 years. I'll take the 1 high end chair over 10 mid range chairs. I don't have room in my house to store 10 mid range chairs.

    I have a Steelcase Amia. I love it. It's a step down from the Gesture price wise but still a monumental step up from the the knock off, maybe $100 new, fake herman miller i got when someone left it for trash. I got mine for $140 used from an office supply store. Upholstry looks brand new. ended up needing a new piston. $20 from Amazon plus $5 for a pipewrench to remove the old one from Harbor Freight. Total around $170. And my chronic back pain from being t-boned in an intersection decades ago feels a ton better. Worth Every penny. Having chronic back pain i never really considered a gaming chair.

    It basically just looks like a more bulky and cloth version of the Leap v2. I have the Leap V2 in leather with the rotating arms like that and the only thing it doesn’t have, because I opted out of it, is the headrest. Because I am actually short and the neck or headrest is pointless for anyone 5ft ish. Definitely my favorite chair by far. Super comfortable especially the lumbar support for someone like me who has injured their back in the past. And the seat pan being able to move back and forth is great too, again because of my height this really helps. Only thing that may be different between this chair and the Leap V2 is possibly the seat cushioning. Maybe it’s got more cushioning or something? Either way I definitely agree, Steelcase has some amazing chairs for long hours of use. I chose this over two different Herman Miller chairs that claimed to be as comfortable as, but are not.

      I've used a classic HM Aeron for a decade and just got my Leap V2 today. It's no contest -- The Aeron is ok with an aftermarket seat cushion but Leap V2 is orders of magnitude more comfortable and ergonomic. Got the version without a headrest too. Phenomenal chair! ..
      The refurbished models from Crandall have extra thick cushioning as an inexpensive upgrade option, plus brand new upolstery/cylinder/wheels, etc. I'd never be able to tell it's not 100% new tbh. Easily the best $600 I've ever spent for furniture.

    The ONLY reason these high end office chairs cost this much is because they know you won't be back in 3 years, and if they make unit prices nigh impossible for the average individual buyer then they can offer businesses and startups a nice "discount" or "deal" for batch orders and make themselves more likely to close the deal. It's a scam, always has been. Sure, they're better than a $500 "good" gaming chair but they're not THAT MUCH better in build quality or features to warrant 3X the price. I would GLADLY fork over $7-800 for this chair without even thinking about, Hell, I'd even settle for a 6 year warranty at that price. But there's no way I'm paying $1,600 for a fairly generic looking office chair with a couple of neat features. At least with a Hemin Miller you're gonna get that unique design and look that says, "Yeah I clearly spent over $1,200 of this OBVIOUSLY Hermin Miller chair." Somebody REALLY needs to pull an Elgato and just swoop in and steal the nearly non existent middle ground of office chairs. Make reliable products that aren't trash nor super specific and high end, then innovate in new ways, sell it on mass with razor thin margins and absolutely DOMINATE the middle ground. I honestly thought SOMEBODY would figure this out during the Pandemic but apparently not. Like there's a few options out there like that but there's no single company just going hard offering high end features and quality at relatively middle ground price.

    • @derred723
      @derred723 5 месяцев назад

      I'd generally disagree. I can't speak to sales strategy, discounts for bulk purchases buy business. That said the build quality is monumentally better than most gaming chairs. Mine appears showroom new and it's a decade old. It's heavy, made of steel, and super durable. These feel made for working adults with an eye to healthy ergonomics where gaming chairs are targeting kids who are going to want to sit with bad posture. Herman Miller's are also generally crap and worse poor ergonomically. They are simply the product of internet hype. People have just fixated on the hype of the name but knowledgable people, back doctors know. That you are focused on the looks, "fairly generic looking office chair"; "Herman Miller has a unique design" tells me you are probably more a style over substance, looks first consumer. And there is a middle ground in office chairs. I have A Steelcase Amia which is like $650-$800 new, there's the Steelcase Leap and many other comparable chairs. Gesture is simply their highest end and thus most expensive. I would agree that they are stupid expensive new. I got my chair used for $140 and just had to put a new $20 piston in it.

I keep seeing videos where the Embody's noise gets mentioned and, honestly, that's the only time ever think about it. I don't hear mine very much. And if I did, I'm not sure I would care. Try both chairs and buy which ever one feels better. Herman Miller has a generous return policy which gives you 30 days to return the chair. I'm not sure about Steelcase's return policy. I mean sure, but these are like $2000. Any generic gaming chair is going to be worse, but they’re also 1/10th of the price.

    These seats are "ergonomic". They might seem comfortable but they damage your spinal cord in the long run. Good luck with those herniated discs.

      How does an ergonomic damage your spinal cord?

    • @OscarGarcia-dg6is
      @OscarGarcia-dg6is 5 месяцев назад

      @@gregorymoore2877 It´s not a straightforward explanation. It´s a few things together. 1. Lazyness of discs. 2. Disc liquid release througout the day. 3. Weight distribution in the wrong places. Discs are lazy, the more you want to be in one position the more they want to stay there. So seating in these so called "ergonomic" chairs, which who decides are ergonomic? Maybe they are comfortable to seat on for a while, but what is that comfort actually doing in the long run? That´s what I mean by "ergonomic". In the long run, the weight you are putting on your lumbar discs using that chair moves the verterbrate to be slightly misaligned. The more you seat on it throughtout the day, the more the liquid inside the discs is released which makes the discs dry and thinner. They are supposed to expand with liquid when we sleep at night, but if you spend a lot of time sitting and standing... they will compress and make it more easy for them to get dry and thin, which is the position they need to be for an injury to occur. So lets say you spend a year using this year, your discs are gonna start to misalign from not distributing the weight properly to your buttocks and legs, then because of sitting and standing throughout the day they will compress and dry, then one night you will lean forward and try to reach something on the floor and your disc will pop. "Ergonomic" is a concept of comfort and supposed health, yet humans are meant to be using their muscles when sitting to keep the back straight and to put tension on the legs and so on so those muscles do not atrophy. Combine muscle atrophy, dry and compressed discs, and compound it with sitting on these chairs for too long... it´s a recipe for an injury.

    $1300 for a plastic office chair sounds a little bit crazy, specially when an Asus Rog Destrier costs under $900, but that 12 year warranty it's a great plus.

    Yep, gaming chairs are trash. Always has been, always will be.
    That applies to the Razers and the Secret Labs. They're there for the gamer-y aesthetics, nothing more.
    I'll take one of these any day. Or a Herman Miller Aeron, or a Humanscale Freedom w/ headrest.
    I have 2 HM Aerons for my home office, and a Dvary GTChair for my gaming setup.
