I lost my dad more than 20 years ago, I kept his glasses as a keepsake my whole life, but during the pandemic, I changed the lenses of those glasses and started to wear them. Benny and Rob were definitely the 1, 2 punch of comics on youtube. They both got me through so many long distance car rides and study sessions back in the day. R.I.P. to one of the greats.
That sounds crazy but its true. They were able to make educational videos for the general audience so they had a better understanding of the existing lore. It also goes the other way where fans of the movies were able to get their feet wet in the world of comic books in a digestable format. Their channels are a footnote in comic history. They started as fans just like the rest of us but they carved out a name for themselves in the industry. If this is the end of Robs channel as well (i hope not) him and Benny had an incredible run on this platform. Longevity is hard to come by in a creator space and they achieved that.

How many people who deal with depression and loneliness use these channels just to make it through the night? I know I have on many occasions. Both channels, Comicstorian and ComicsExplained. I just want to thank Benny for helping me out on all of those lonely nights when I needed the comfort of a classic comic tale just to get some shut eye. You will be missed. THANKS AGAIN.
I'd watch the both of you guys continuously at night attempting to tune out the world, from endless car rides to anything in between. You both continued to grow the love for anything comicbook related for not only myself but for countless more.
To this day, I still remember how exciting and fun Benny made Blackest Night for me to listen to. It’s still one of my favorite comic stories because, in part, due to how he narrated the comic. Rest in Power, Benny. Thanks for changing this nerd’s life.
Yeah, same for me. I found the Comicstorian channel back in 2015-16. That was when I started watching the MCU movies for the first time. Through him is how I found this whole "Comic book RUclips community" (other RUclipsrs like Comics Explained, DopeSpill Comics, Comicisland, Comic Drake, and so on). His loss is really sad.
Been avoiding comic recaps because of his passing. He was there for us all through our highs and lows in life. He had such a beautiful personality from what I have seen. Taking it hard cause I’ve watching him for almost a decade. It’s like losing a part of my life…he got me through shit jobs, marriage woes, boredom and errands. It’s sort of surreal because I don’t even know him yet I still mourn. Rip Benny and thank you for everything. I've been following both of you since you were at a couple thousand subs. 4 months later and I just found out today... I literally sleep to yours and his voices. the algorithm just plays you guys. I feel this loss man, honestly watching this video and then going to pay homage by watching all his vids again. Watched both these channels and careers grow from nothing. I don't remember which of your channels I found first, but it led me to the other. Ever since, I've gone to you for the detail and background, and Benny for "the dramatics". As someone who has "gone beyond" many friends, there is a special "guilt" with a roller coaster of sadness. Benny was my comic book professor. I remember going through his entire Invincible series twice over. He was that good. Too good. He moved me to be better at life, not just comics. I have encyclopedias and would still be lost without his, and your, guidance. We all lost our hero, you lost a friend, but heaven has gained the loudest, most passionate angel. Im 52 years old and blubbering like a baby. I feel like i lost a friend I've known for over 10 years. RIP Benny. You are a legend and should be remembered fondly by the entire comic book industry as someone that introduced many new fans to comics as well as revitalized old fans that may have stepped away (me). I tuned in regularly to see what Rob and Benny posted. I remember wanting to find out about the Celestials and typed in "Celestial explained" in the youtube search just to have a video pop up saying "The Celestials Explained." Apparently Rob knew what I wanted because the video had only been up less than a week. After that I discovered this dude that read stories dramatically and mispronounced ALOT of words especially names. I was then sucked in and was once again a fan of comics. Rob and Benny caught me up and also gave me an appreciation for DC. I was a strict rabid Marvel fan. Robs description of Benny, "he has his own gravity and people are drawn to him" reminds me so much of my childhood friend I lost on 9/11. Mark Bingham was exactly like that. He was commonly referred to as "the human Labrador", just this fun energetic goofball that everyone loved.
Marvel Zombies, DCeased, Injustice, I watched it all, I , like you all, fell in love with comics thanks to these two! We truly don’t know what we’ve got until we’ve lost it! Thank you for all your time and effort to the both of you ❤️

It's hard for me to really sit down and read, and even afford, all of the comic books I want to dive into. Guys like you and Benny were terrific to discover. You allow us fans to explore entire series and do a great job at providing context for the uninitiated. Benny's enthusiasm, passion, and style were unique and all his own. That sounds crazy but its true. They were able to make educational videos for the general audience so they had a better understanding of the existing lore. It also goes the other way where fans of the movies were able to get their feet wet in the world of comic books in a digestable format. Their channels are a footnote in comic history. They started as fans just like the rest of us but they carved out a name for themselves in the industry. If this is the end of Robs channel as well (i hope not) him and Benny had an incredible run on this platform. Longevity is hard to come by in a creator space and they achieved that.

Been avoiding comic recaps because of his passing. He was there for us all through our highs and lows in life. He had such a beautiful personality from what I have seen. Taking it hard cause I’ve watching him for almost a decade. It’s like losing a part of my life…he got me through shit jobs, marriage woes, boredom and errands. It’s sort of surreal because I don’t even know him yet I still mourn. Rip Benny and thank you for everything.

I've been following both of you since you were at a couple thousand subs. 4 months later and I just found out today... I literally sleep to yours and his voices. the algorithm just plays you guys. I feel this loss man, honestly watching this video and then going to pay homage by watching all his vids again. Watched both these channels and careers grow from nothing. Huge loss, but let's celebrate life and what he gave us. Those narrated recaps were an innovation and will never die. He's accomplished what so many of us strive for, immortality through our works. I don't remember which of your channels I found first, but it led me to the other. Ever since, I've gone to you for the detail and background, and Benny for "the dramatics". Benny was my comic book professor. I remember going through his entire Invincible series twice over. He was that good. Too good. He moved me to be better at life, not just comics. I have encyclopedias and would still be lost without his, and your, guidance. We all lost our hero, you lost a friend, but heaven has gained the loudest, most passionate angel. Im 52 years old and blubbering like a baby. I feel like i lost a friend I've known for over 10 years.
RIP Benny. You are a legend and should be remembered fondly by the entire comic book industry as someone that introduced many new fans to comics as well as revitalized old fans that may have stepped away (me).
I tuned in regularly to see what Rob and Benny posted. I remember wanting to find out about the Celestials and typed in "Celestial explained" in the youtube search just to have a video pop up saying "The Celestials Explained." Apparently Rob knew what I wanted because the video had only been up less than a week. After that I discovered this dude that read stories dramatically and mispronounced ALOT of words especially names. I was then sucked in and was once again a fan of comics. Rob and Benny caught me up and also gave me an appreciation for DC. I was a strict rabid Marvel fan.
Robs description of Benny, "he has his own gravity and people are drawn to him" reminds me so much of my childhood friend I lost on 9/11. Mark Bingham was exactly like that. He was commonly referred to as "the human Labrador", just this fun energetic goofball that everyone loved.
Marvel Zombies, DCeased, Injustice, I watched it all, I , like you all, fell in love with comics thanks to these two! We truly don’t know what we’ve got until we’ve lost it! Thank you for all your time and effort to the both of you ❤️

It's hard for me to really sit down and read, and even afford, all of the comic books I want to dive into. Guys like you and Benny were terrific to discover. You allow us fans to explore entire series and do a great job at providing context for the uninitiated. Benny's enthusiasm, passion, and style were unique and all his own. He was an integral part of comic book fandom everywhere. It's weird watching his videos and hearing his voice now that he's now gone.
