Facial expressions, voice changing, body language, rapid mood swings, played a drunk guy very well (which often actors overplay), the sad scene of the first breakup with Rachel, where he cried.. he just did everything amazing. Doesn't matter if you love or hate Ross, David Schwimmer's acting created one of the greatest characters in the sitcom history.
He makes me think a bit of Jim Carey. Not in his style or delivery, exactly. His face is really... flexible, I think. It's not just that he has a super expressive face, but it USES those muscles a lot. His face can go from zero to big mad ross in less than a Mississippi. And his voice and body change to match it. It really is part of what made him so masterful in this series. It's like watching someone with DID, honestly. He just really embodies every single scene he does, and it starts with that goofball of a face.
Matthew was unique in being extremely funny in short sharp lines and behaviour, but David has the capacity to be extremely funny in longer scenes, like for example the opening scene in this video, from the beginning to the end. He's hilarious, also in subtle facial and physical expressions, and the sounds he sometimes makes!
David Schwimmer is so brilliant with his physical comedy! He breathes life into scenes with his exaggerated movements and inspired gestures. An utterly skilled performer! Seems to be a genuinely decent human being too. 🙂❤

But David took that style of comedy, dialled it down a bit, and applied it to complex situations that one would see in a more modern sitcom. He really mastered his very own, unique take on the craft.

Chinese, not Japanese (Southern Style Kung Fu), but you meet people in the community, and I seem to recall laughing about this Friends joke at an event once. One Japanese martial artist (I believe he studied Karate, actually) said that "Unagi" means to react to danger like an eel. Which, I suppose makes sense. Unagi sushi IS INDEED made with eel. It's my favourite roll. This person claimed that the word "unagi" can be used to refer to any eel, as it defines the state of being eel-like, or some existential thing... And across asian martial arts, and likely in the rest of the world too, Animal behaviour plays a huge role in fighting vocabulary, as humans studied animals to learn to move more like them, if needed. Anyway, I have no idea if this unagi thing is true, I never really looked into it before, but whenever I see this episode of friends, that conversation always comes back to me. My fighting vocabulary is Chinese, not Japanese, however, so someone correct me if I got bullshat back then.,
I haven't seen this show in probably 10 yrs. But I caught one of the compilation videos last month. It lifted my spirit. And I have fallen in love with "Friends " all over again. 😊

Ross in unapologetically my favorite character of the show. Not only he’s obviously hilarious and David Schwimmer did an amazing job with the role. But also how is it possible to not have sympathy for the guy when you realize all the bad stuff that happened to him during the show?: -the 7 years long (!) messy "relationship" with Rachel (obviously) -the divorce with Carol because if you go beyond the sitcom stuff "lol his wife is a lesbian that’s hilarious" it totally destroyed him and made him unable to trust (season 3 episode 12) -the multiple divorces and accidental pregnancies which again if you go beyond the funny sitcom elements are quite sad because all Ross has ever wanted was a marriage and a family (season 8 episode 5) So yeah despite his flaws (a character without flaws is boring anyway + other main Friends characters also have huge flaws but it’s swept underneath the rug) Ross deserves more love

That was such an awful and out of character storyline. I hated that whole storyline, those episodes are honestly hard for me to rewatch bc it’s so painful and cringe worthy watching Rachel and Joey try to be a couple, when we all knew that they’d never work. Rachel and Joey had no romantic chemistry and were better off as friends. No wonder the actors and most fans hated the storyline

When I first started watching Friends, I wasn’t the biggest fan of Ross. Over time he became my favorite character, he is hilarious.

I forgot how funny friends was until I rewatch the clips, all actors are just brilliantly funny, Ross and Rachel particularly😂! I love friends.💖
Ross was definitely my fave, he has the funniest moments. But then again he and Monica were the real stars of the show.
13:13 I liked when Ross waved a magazine, patted cold water then covered his legs in powder and sticking lotion on his legs creating a paste trying to get his leather pants back on and coming out of Elizabeth's bathroom without his pants on is one of the funniest Ross moment.🤣
The opening scene in this compilation is Ross losing his sh!t about Rachel is so perfect ❤

Ross in unapologetically my favorite character of the show.
Not only he’s obviously hilarious and David Schwimmer did an amazing job with the role.
But also how is it possible to not have sympathy for the guy when you realize all the bad stuff that happened to him during the show?:
-the 7 years long (!) messy "relationship" with Rachel (obviously)
-the divorce with Carol because if you go beyond the sitcom stuff "lol his wife is a lesbian that’s hilarious" it totally destroyed him and made him unable to trust (season 3 episode 12)
-the multiple divorces and accidental pregnancies which again if you go beyond the funny sitcom elements are quite sad because all Ross has ever wanted was a marriage and a family (season 8 episode 5)
So yeah despite his flaws (a character without flaws is boring anyway + other main Friends characters also have huge flaws but it’s swept underneath the rug) Ross deserves more love

I know Chandler was the GOAT Friends character but the older I get, the more hilarious Ross is. David Schwimmer was underrated. His comedic timing was stellar.

whoever wrote Joey hooking up with Rachel clearly doesn't understand why they'd just be weird and creepy for even considering it. everyone's reaction to it seem unnatural and forced because nobody bought it, not even the actors
That was such an awful and out of character storyline. I hated that whole storyline, those episodes are honestly hard for me to rewatch bc it’s so painful and cringe worthy watching Rachel and Joey try to be a couple, when we all knew that they’d never work. Rachel and Joey had no romantic chemistry and were better off as friends. No wonder the actors and most fans hated the storyline
