For my flight sim rig... I bought the cheapest racing rig on the auction site I could find because it was cheaper than buying all the square tubing. Then I modified almost everything about it LOL. I've yet to find anything like this that works out of box. But I suppose for most people some assembly required doesn't usually include the MIG welder, band saw, taps, dies, additional metal, grinder, sander, drill press. It really is the only way to get one that fits you perfect... for this I would probably be cutting up and modifying the screen mount to make it both adjustable and further out.
I ordered the next model up from that when I was drunk. Telling the wife in the morning was fun, and I wish I'd gone for the Scorpion, as you can't adjust the display distance on the IW-R1Imperatorworks.
I've been using an electric recliner chair + height adjustable desk for years now, gives similar experience to something like this but imo less restrictive and can function in a conventional way when not reclined back.
on the H3Podcast they had this chair for years for the main producer Dan (whos a Fan and got the Screwdriver) but they eventually switched it because it was a nice gag but very uncomfortable
Those monitors seem way too close. And the chair isolates you from people. Maybe Dan would like it as it would be exponentially harder for people to ask him for help when he is trapped in this monstrosity 😂
There is a podcast called H3 Podcast, their Producer is called Dan. Ethan the host of the Podcast bought Dan the 5 Monitor version for this Scorpion chair and he set in it for like a year as a joke
Working from home now, and as soon as I have a dedicated office that is all to myself I'm getting one. Three 27" monitors in tie-fighter configuration. Stoked to hear great things about the seat itself!
@@user9267 I've already got a nice desk setup with an aeron chair and a nice desk with the same monitor setup I mentioned. The ability to sit back at that angle and have the monitors follow the seat position blows a desk out of the water in my opinion.
look at what dan said about the scorpion chair on H3, he hated that thing, said it destroyed his back. There are other products like this, albeit not nearly as cool looking but I would consider other options.
@@JohnnyStauf It's still a terrible implementation of the idea, at least for the price. There are better options and if not, you can pay someone $500 to DIY a better option and still save money
@@user9267 ok, who do you know that will do the structure, motors, controllers, wiring, for $500? I would genuinely love to know. I work in manufacturing and I don't know a single professional in the Pacific Northwest who would even look at a project like this for $500. And honestly the scorpion chair itself is whatever, the IW-320 from Imperator Works (who actually makes the base unit that Cluvens is working from) is more the style I want anyways. Also, who's to say you couldnt get the unit, then take a nice office chair like my aeron and pull the seat off, then 3d print a carbon impregnated adapter bracket to swap in a better seat and back while retaining the rest of the functionality? Bracket would be maybe $40 to print at the local college maker space plus 10-15 in hardware, so not too bad. I dont understand why people want to yuck someone else's yum so often in the tech space.
11:55 is a pretty easy fix. You can either just keep it tight enough to hold an angle, but you can force move it....or swap the bolt with whatever quick release style fits.
The MWE emperor chair is similar, made in Canada. Poetic Technologies also made a chair which had a base which rotated with the sun for use if you had a window behind you
I have the MWE Labs Emperor XT chair and it is much more sturdier than this "scorpion" chair, it also supports 3x 32" displays. I tossed out the original cables, they were cheap and had issues with blinking the displays. I also threw out and replaced the 2.1 audio system it comes with, again, it was cheap and sounded terrible. I put 7.1 surround sound on it (installed the sub inside the bottom of the chair) and swapped the seat with a Secret Labs chair. I modified the Secret Labs chair to have a SubPac inside the back rest so it sounds and feels amazing and immersive. I also threw out the tiny keyboard tray and replaced it with a carbon fiber tray with steel under supports. The only thing this chair has on the MWE Labs Emperor XT chair is the price, the Emperor XT chair starts at 5k and can go up with customizations, but again, the build quality puts this wobbly chair to shame. You should get one Linus and do a comparison.
I wasn't expecting to start a linus video with portuguese audio! I'm sure that's highly appreciated for those who doesn't speak English as well, funny thing is that I learned lots of English watching those videos.
I have this chair. Bought it a year and a half ago. I love it! But assembly is a pain in the ***, and good luck trying to move it up the stairs (took me 6 months to get that done!). With 5 monitors it was a great productivity workhorse, but I just swapped out the bottom 3 monitors for a single 49" ultrawide - now it's wonderful for gaming! Anyway, the biggest con: It may scare the people who come into your house.
These types of videos are my favorite. I bought the keymouse from one of these wire vids and it basically saved my career after acquiring some fun nerve pain in my arm. Thanks LTT!
i must say - you can use an HDMI output on your graphics card to run directly to a dolby atmos enabled (or not enabled) surround sound receiver and send full dolby atmos to it and use this with as many speakers as that receiver would allow you to use. I currently have a movable desk with a curved Samsung 32 G8 on an Arcam 5.2.4 setup. I have an 77" LG C2 OLED on the wall which I can use if i either position my monitor in a different place or move the entire desk out of the way. Granted, this scorpion setup would probably be your only means of viewing, but - the option for the audio is still there.
I’m so glad someone actually did a review on this product it’s been on my wish list for years and I’ve been skeptical about buying it waiting around for revisions and improved versions to release to show they didn’t just make a one and done but actually are actively trying to make it better as time passes although I’ve really seen no changes being made over the years. I may just have to get my hands on this and make the necessary revisions myself and I may even make it a video this way others can address the issues them selfs as well making this worth buying rather than buying and regretting it.
Dan from the H3 podcast had one of these for like 2-3 years and hates it by the end. All the sharp corners are pretty annoying and by the end of hit he said he was basically just sitting on the metal and it caused tonnes of back pain
@@sexy_koala_juice yeah I could see that being an issue some changes I had in mind was rolling the corners to round them a bit. Cable management for sure. Bracket bracing for the monitors. Proper installation of RGB led strips. Changing the foam from that high density foam to a gel infused memory foam with a dense foam base. Just off the top of my head to name a few things I’d change
Yasss, that keyboard was actually exactly the form factor I have been looking for and the little display looks like fun, hopefully can get it hooked up to iCue. Have kept consistently missing all the group buys on 94+ size keyboards cos they are so rare and are sold out so quickly its nice to finally get the timing right on a nice looking mech kb. Ty Linus!
I have this keeb, the screen is only approachable from the Epomaker software, and can only show date in the year-month-day format (so you have to set your pc to that to sync it), outside world temperature, and a very scuffed cpu activity monitor that shows 00% in Cinebench (presumably 100%) and anywhere between 2 and 5% in gaming. The outside world temp also does not handle negatives well, showing a garbled mess once you go into negative celsius. Furthermore, if you intend to use it wired 24/7, the bright-green battery LED does not turn off, resulting in a fair bit of light spillage near the 4/enter keys. But at least you can show pretty much any gif you want on it.
Just looking at it, you can clearly see the standard parallelogram used for adjustments in the video (18:20). Not sure how they missed that. I feel like since that is the only major downside (aside from cost, size, shape, etc), someone needs to make an addendum.
This thing is ridiculous.I definitley have the space in my home office, but I don't think I could see myself using it. The shakey monitors give me too much anxiety. Super cool design though!
Have had mine 3 years still as good as the day i received it. No tears or rips on the vinyl or leather. As for the metal, you get small chips on powder from screwing and unscrewing things.
Despite the style/space issues, I feel like the value proposition of this chair/thing really is there. When you get to having the kind of computer that can support this kind of thing, the chair isn't that far out in price, and it does seem to have most of all the things you'd really want it to have.
You should try the (made in Canada) version of this thing from MWE lab. It also looks much less ridiculous without the whole scorpion deal, and is supposedly a good deal more sturdy.

Link your setup or something.
I ordered the next model up from that when I was drunk. Telling the wife in the morning was fun, and I wish I'd gone for the Scorpion, as you can't adjust the display distance on the IW-R1Imperatorworks.
Of course it’s Elijah that’s gonna end up daily driving this thing hahaha. Looking forward to that floatplane video
How long the insurance policy allowed him to use the chair?
I think that is the first floatplane exclusive that would tempt me to sign up.
The things i’d do to have someone leave this in my driveway..
watch the vid first maite
*neighbor's driveway
The things I'd do to someone leaving this in my driveway. In Minecraft ofc.
@@Sol4rOnYtwhy? It's not like he even assumed anything about the video. Just made a kinda funny comment aboutw wanting one
@@olutukko2681 it's an npc comment
@1:40 you forgot to say "that's what she said!!!" I'll be here all evening everybody, ty and good night. 😂😂😂
Exactly what I was thinking when he said that! 🤣🤣
I was waiting for the nice guy who helped unpack and set it up to sit in it at least once😕
Those monitors seem way too close. And the chair isolates you from people. Maybe Dan would like it as it would be exponentially harder for people to ask him for help when he is trapped in this monstrosity 😂
There is a podcast called H3 Podcast, their Producer is called Dan. Ethan the host of the Podcast bought Dan the 5 Monitor version for this Scorpion chair and he set in it for like a year as a joke
feel like he would hate it because he would have to run off just as much but now he has to get in and out of the chair, as a tall person no less lol.
Monitor distance and angle is adjustable… they don’t know this point
Working from home now, and as soon as I have a dedicated office that is all to myself I'm getting one. Three 27" monitors in tie-fighter configuration. Stoked to hear great things about the seat itself!
You could probably get a MUCH better experience for under $2000 with a better chair and monitor stands
@@JohnnyStauf
It's still a terrible implementation of the idea, at least for the price.
Dan the producer used this same chair for a year on H3 Podcast just for the memes. His back really hurt by the end!
3:03 "What message?" That I have the money to do whatever the fuck I want😂😂
The MWE emperor chair is similar, made in Canada. Poetic Technologies also made a chair which had a base which rotated with the sun for use if you had a window behind you
I seriously cannot wait for Elijah’s update video after using that thing as his workstation for six weeks.
Real ones know that Dan from H3 used to use one of these as the command center
Only reason why I clicked. 🦶🪖☮❤
Somehow I can picture Linus modifying this thing to make it move and walking around the office with it to freak his staff out.
😒
Much more Michele reeves than LTT
Nah... not Linus. Alex on the other hand...
With the engineering team, that's a real possiblity
But he will scare the sh!t out of the arachnophobes...
Have you aver watched more than one ltt video?
7:48 that made a fantastic noise against your head. 1 point chair, 0 points Linus
I wasn't expecting to start a linus video with portuguese audio! I'm sure that's highly appreciated for those who doesn't speak English as well, funny thing is that I learned lots of English watching those videos.
Dan is the queen
I have this chair. Bought it a year and a half ago. I love it! But assembly is a pain in the ***, and good luck trying to move it up the stairs (took me 6 months to get that done!).
With 5 monitors it was a great productivity workhorse, but I just swapped out the bottom 3 monitors for a single 49" ultrawide - now it's wonderful for gaming!
Anyway, the biggest con: It may scare the people who come into your house.
That's definitely a pro
How much tho
What on earth do you do that you need 5 monitors?
@@jg97873 Multibox mmos
was gona say, go for a big single monitor vs 3.
I’m glad Elijah won he was the most excited about the chair
These types of videos are my favorite. I bought the keymouse from one of these wire vids and it basically saved my career after acquiring some fun nerve pain in my arm. Thanks LTT!
Which vid was that, have problems are something that I need to avoid at all costs
1:16 - As a mountain biker, I winced when you tapped the handlebars on that fella. Lol
i must say - you can use an HDMI output on your graphics card to run directly to a dolby atmos enabled (or not enabled) surround sound receiver and send full dolby atmos to it and use this with as many speakers as that receiver would allow you to use.
I lost it when he casually said “I wonder how many of the injury reports are me” 😂😂😂
According to Alex on floatplane, a lot of them.
Look at the manitcore by the same company
Pllllllllllllllllllll
What's this called?
As extravagant as it is absurd. That does look like a great chair to relive them old school arcade gaming booth experiences.
7:47 linus drop tips 🤣
🤣😂😂
I just clicked on the timestamp, not knowing where it would go and laughed as hard as I did the first time.
linus drop things, onto himself!
Hold on.... Is this Dan from H3's scorpion chair ?
Was going to say that. H3H3 producers old chair
the Scorpion chair claims another victim
@@antoniskazou 😂 will its torment of humans ever end
glad to see linus is still killin it, never stop making videos please
The look of panic on his face after winning at 18:39 is priceless haha

14:21 When I first heard it, I understood Elijah asking "How do you get injured". Had to laugh 😂
"The assembly video was only 3 minutes long, it can't be that hard"
Was it a stop motion like them Lego videos clicking together 🤣
Would be really cool to see LTT do a DIY version of one of these chairs.
Im really happy that the guy won the chair he seemed like he would actually really enjoy it! cool stuff
The screen mount is adjustable. They even show you how to do it on the product page.
Just looking at it, you can clearly see the standard parallelogram used for adjustments in the video (18:20). Not sure how they missed that. I feel like since that is the only major downside (aside from cost, size, shape, etc), someone needs to make an addendum.
Linus dropping that 2nd access panel directly onto his face absolutely sent me into hysterics
Honestly, if it's insanely comfortable. I might genuinely consider buying this chair.
This thing is ridiculous.I definitley have the space in my home office, but I don't think I could see myself using it. The shakey monitors give me too much anxiety. Super cool design though!
I think this chair is a good alternative to having a whole room just for your computer.
Alternative? lmao
LMAO Elijah winning that chair without even realizing that it would really happen
Linus becoming so aware of child safety Hazzards because he's a parent now is so wholesome 😂
Bro, he's been a parent for over a decade, I think his son is turning twelve this year
i wish my dad was interested in things I like so we could have a better relationship
His children are old enough that he doesn't need to care for child safety anymore
💀@@jinxblaze
tbh i see those claws as headphones stands/holders
Have had mine 3 years still as good as the day i received it. No tears or rips on the vinyl or leather. As for the metal, you get small chips on powder from screwing and unscrewing things.
Buy a recliner, find a board that's big enough to reach across the arm rests and let the mouse and keyboard sit on it. My favorite desk.
MWE is the inventor of this workstation. bit disappointed LTT chose to test this sad thing
As a Scorpio, no whole 🦂would be a deal breaker. The white cord on a black scorpion must be color matched at this price, or forget it, though.
Nothing beats playing in a couch with a controller. Yes, yes, I know controller are a no-go for competitive FPSs. I was a mouse/kb elitist until my mid 30s, I'm 43 now and I love how relaxing playing with a controller is.
hey thats Dan's scorpion chair from the h3 podcast
8:31 I saw that one coming since Linus said "say something" and I still laughed way too much lmao
i like the fact that sometimes the thumbnail was a mysterious product and sometimes this
“Elijah Horner, Concussion Enthusiast” has to be the funniest thing I've ever read from an editor note
