    He won Dubai 2008 WITHOUT losing his serve ONCE. And that's even more impressive since he defeated both Nadal and Djokovic.

    Roddick was so good. His talent deserves more than one slam. Unfortunately he finds himself among a long list of players who were denied greatness because of the big 3.

      true. but especially federer. he has a dominant H2H over djokovic if my memory is correct. Federer was always just slightly too good. But roddick did beat Federer 2-3 times, 2 i think.

      He, and other like him, including Nalbandian, Murray and Djokovic are defensive due to their large L5 grip setups. These players are colloquially known as "pushers".

    • @OldSkoolLegend
      @OldSkoolLegend 10 месяцев назад

      maybe the legs got tired as the years went on? He DOES put a lot of hip thrust into his FH's... which requires a lot of leg drive from the ground up.

      @@AxPush The best parts of Roddick never came together at the same time.
      His serve was at it's best from 07-10, with 09 being his best imo in terms of %
      His FH was at it's best from 2002-2004
      His BH became his best wing in the connors era until retirement
      His movement was always decent, probably peaked in 09
      Return never good, maybe in 03/04???? Volleys always a bit suspect
      Roddick's 03 forehand + 09 BH & serve is a sick player.
      I never understood his FH change. I think he thought he was spewing too many errors.

    Those who didn't see this era, I want to tell you that there was this service giant who had one of the most complete games in that era.. I think he is by far the best compared to other big servers... like berrettini, Raonic, Isner, kyrgios Karlovic... the guy wasn't even so tall but still reached serves like 140 MPH, retired with one slam in his belt and many finals who he lost to federer and a positive H2H against the likes of Novak...

    holy crap i've never seen this match before, but this might be the best that roddick ever played. the absolute maximum of his game - hitting 150mph serves in AND attacking with his forehand. even hit a few backhand winners. bizarre.

    The Roddick thing was just his service and that was it. They made him play a full game and he couldn't win and that was in his early years when he was just starting out, but later he was defeated by Nadal and Djokovic himself. Andy Roddick could never defeat Federer.

    Fun Fact: Roddick quit in 2012 because he knew (and admitted) that Federer/Nadal/Djokovic tennis was on a level that he couldn't compete at.
