Riley, I personally hate rabbits as pets BUT most people do not give their rabbits enough engagement. It sounds like that girl was a great pet owner, better than most people, which is a green flag because she did her research before getting a pet.

I’ve always had a pet my whole life but I’ve never had a bunny. I didn’t even realize they liked toys. It’s a fact that makes me giggle actually idk why. House bunnies have also been domesticated for so long that they are fairly different. Like dogs and wolves. I am on bunny #4 and have had bunnies for 10 years they LOVE toys and playing and pets. Some love to play chase, and some like to toss around a ball. Some dig in their hat box and throw baby stacking cups around. Some like to play in cat tubes and play hide and seek. They are amazing companions

On the makeup comment, I have huge respect to my girlies out there that discipline themselves to wear makeup everyday because it takes a lot of time. I used to take 30-45 minutes every single morning to wear full makeup during my first year of college. Fast forward six years, I’m a married woman that works from home so I wear makeup like three times a year ahhh 😅

Now I’ve never done full face make up cause skin wise I haven’t felt like I’ve needed it aside from the constantly growing bags under my eyes but I could never properly apply make up to make it look right so I gave up on trying to cover my bags and I let them fly. Haha 😅😂 Mostly I would just do eye shadow, mascara and some eyeliner. I went through different time periods in my life where I wore it daily and then others where I would were it maybe a couple times a month. However the last like 5 years I have only worn it a handful of times an each year. In my defense I’ve always been the person that if I had to choose between getting more sleep or waking up and looking cute my ass will pick sleep every time and I especially have now since I’m a Mom to a 3 year old. Before that while pregnant with her and even for a couple years before that I was a foster Mom for my young niece and nephew. They are all full of energy and I’m pretty sure I have undiagnosed ADHD for a lot of reasons but also because I get easily distracted and I can’t remember a damn thing. Make up or not I’m sure you look fabulous! I hope 2024 is your great year so far!

His mother is very abusive to him and her poor small dog. When he saw how I treated my bunny so gentle and kind never getting mad even if she misbehaved. Just coming up with creative solutions to keep her from destroying things he wanted to be a part of that peaceful kind world. He ended up loving her as much as I did. Because most rabbits don't. They don't get enough enrichment, or enough space to roam free to get the exercise required to be healthy. Having an entire room to themselves is great. My rabbit doesn't have that, we don't have that, but he has a caged section that takes up a quarter of our living room and is free to roam the house when we are home. He has a bed, maybe not three, but that's simply because we don't let him stay out all night because we rent and if he destroys the apartment while we are sleeping, that's our security deposit gone. Otherwise, he might have various beds to sleep where he wants. And yes, you give them lots of toys or else they make your furniture, doors, baseboards, etc. their toys. Again, security deposit and you know, most people typically don't want their house destroyed by a bored bunny. It's not "treating" them like a toddler. It's literally ensuring they have the enrichment they need to live a long, healthy life.
*Sam* On the subject of what to do about the young lady advances. Advice from a female here. If you were doing these things to her and she felt at all uncomfortable, the whole situation would be different. That said, I'd agree with John on it, the next time something comes up, maybe gently ask he if you can talk to her about something privately. Then explain you've noticed *list of things* that have led you to think maybe she could have a deeper interest in you & that you're simply not on the same page with that. “Broken home” usually means that you’ve got some sort of family trauma going on; passed away parent, serious neglect, addiction issues, cheating, etc. In OP’s case it was abuse As someone from a broken home (parental addiction issues) I do think it’s an important distinction to make, considering it enables people with such traumas to mention their home situation without having to elaborate on possibly very difficult things to talk about. It makes it so the person they’re talking to can empathise with an idea of some sort of rough upbringing, without you having to say more
Sam- TELL HER! The next time you are around her, or having a conversation with her, just find a way to squeeze in something like “hey, I just want to make sure we’re both on the same page here because I value our friendship and I don’t want there being any confusion that it might be anything else”. Most likely, she will respond with something like “yeah, of course!”. But if she acts like she needs clarification (and you care about her feelings lol) then act as if it’s because of YOU (ie- I was letting loose at the party and I realize I was a little flirty in the moment and I don’t mean to give the wrong impression). Now if you don’t care about her feelings, or if you just care about your own pride/ego more and don’t want to take blame, let her know that her hand was creeping a little too close to the goods and that type of action is reserved medical professionals and/or potential future wives
For Sam; I think she's crossed a line myself already. She's essentially sexually assaulting you if she's touching you without consent. It doesn't matter that you didn't say no, you didn't say yes either and silence doesn't mean yes. I would set clear boundaries with her because it will get worse if you don't. She's testing boundaries to see how much she can get away with and if you are romantically interested and the best thing for everyone is to be upfront and honest about how you feel. Setting boundaries will let you know her true colors. She will either gracefully accept the friend-zone or not. I understand not wanting to ruin the friendship but if she wants more with no boundaries set, it's gonna ruin the friendship anyways.
The thing is you don’t actually get to say it’s assault. Only Sam gets to decide that and he decided it didn’t make him uncomfortable, he just wanted to be on the same page. i met my husband 3 WEEKS after i left my ex husband of 10 years. i didn't mean to, def wasn't looking. he came home with me the night we met, something else i'd never done in my life....and he's still here lol. we would wait until my 3 & 4 year old little boys would go to sleep at 9, i'd call to say they were down, and he'd come over. we put a door chain on my bedroom door so my babies could get me if they needed me in the night (it never ended up happening) and he'd leave for work the next morning before they'd wake up. i let them meet him 3 months later but still didn't let them know he was sleeping there...they just thought he left after they went to bed. they were at my ex's every weekend. that was in August and we were married officially in March. best move of my life was bringing him home that night and i'd do it all over again. we were married the first night, at least we felt like we were, so we celebrate our anniversary in August, not March. this August will be 30 years.
You tell them at the first opportunity and yes you tell them! You are not responsible for her emotions and reactions. But you are responsible for being honest and responsible for prioritizing your own sense of comfortability! She needs to know that what she is doing is not ok with you and makes you uncomfortable! But please try to do it privately and gently.

To Riley’s question on scary movies, I like them because I they’re entertaining. As a writer, I can usually predict the jump scares and count them down, so I get more caught up in predicting plot points than actually getting scared. Or I just spend my time making fun of the movie 😂😂

In the early days of internet dating my friend and I would be each other’s secret backup on the first date. We would get to the place early, find two tables next to each other empty. We each sit at a table on the farthest side of the tables. This would mean he would sit down between us and we could make eye contact without him ever knowing. Around 2 hours to get ready for a first date. Outfit selection, hair and makeup takes about 1.5 hours at least. When I first moved in with my partner he was astonished at the amount of work it was to get ready to go out for dinner. He's now used to it and just plays video games while I do my thing.

Okay weird story regarding hooking up while watching horror movies. My best friend in college was talking to me and mentioned that she hooked up with her date while watching The Babadook. I burst out laughing and she looked kinda offended that I was laughing at her. Through the tears of laughter, I had to explain that I wasn't laughing at her, I was laughing because I lost my virginity to my ex-boyfriend while watching The Babadook too. So apparently that's a great movie to watch while you get it on
Dogs need less stimulation as long as they are taken on walks, however new toys are always helpful. Any indoor pets however need a lot more enrichment. Imagine never seeing or getting anything new ever, it's why windows are excellent and toys are necessary. Also try to stop a cat from sleeping anywhere they want, not gonna happen haha (technically you can train them not to go on certain couches, counters or such but though you never know what they are doing when you leave there sight.).
Someone who would take such good care of a pet is a big green flag in my book. Especially small animals and exotics. That rabbit is clearly important to her, if its not your thing thats totally fine but to act like shes somehow worse for providing that rabbit with an excellent quality of life isnt fair. It shows compassion thought and dedication on her end. And I feel the reasoning "pets shouldnt be spoiled" has its own drawbacks. Animals don't think about things the same way people do, not to mention what you consider spoiling is probably just really great enrichment for that pet, shes taking good care of it and clearly values it, absolutey not a red flag. It just sounds like neither of you would have been a good match for the other.

Bunnies require toys for enrichment. Bunnies can actually die from boreddom. They don't only need toys, but it's necessary for their health. Plus if you don't give them toys, they might quite literally destroy your entire house. They will chew furniture, baseboards, cords, etc. The biggest way to prevent this is to ensure they get enrichment needed through social interaction and toys.
Best to be straightforward if you aren't interested in a relationship. Its definitely difficult thats for sure, but if it feels like you may not be on the same page as your friend thats a good conversation to have. You can still do it with compassion, it doesnt have to be harsh or cold, and making sure communication is open and everyone is understanding each other can help a lot. It can be hard for people to pick up hints, they may never realize what you're trying to get at if you don't actually say it. Hopefully the friendship can come out stronger because of it, there is certainly the chance that telling someone you dont want a relationship will mean that person doesnt want the friendship any longer, but ultimately its best for each party to either have a friendship with open communication and undersranding or be able to move on from a friendship that isnt going to work.
The hole in the car is most likely just a drainage hole. A lot of Jeeps have them so that you can hose down the inside and let it drain out. Or if shit gets inside, it just drains out. It is pretty scary seeing the road beneath you tho lol.

If they don't take the hints that you're not interested, then just tell them you're not interested. Sometimes people won't understand until you explicitly tell them. My ex didn't think we were broken up until I had to tell him that I didn't have feelings for him anymore. He handled it well in front of me but it's probably a different story after he left. 😅

Because most rabbits don't. They don't get enough enrichment, or enough space to roam free to get the exercise required to be healthy. Having an entire room to themselves is great. My rabbit doesn't have that, we don't have that, but he has a caged section that takes up a quarter of our living room and is free to roam the house when we are home. He has a bed, maybe not three, but that's simply because we don't let him stay out all night because we rent and if he destroys the apartment while we are sleeping, that's our security deposit gone. Otherwise, he might have various beds to sleep where he wants. And yes, you give them lots of toys or else they make your furniture, doors, baseboards, etc. their toys. Again, security deposit and you know, most people typically don't want their house destroyed by a bored bunny. It's not "treating" them like a toddler. It's literally ensuring they have the enrichment they need to live a long, healthy life.

As someone from a broken home (parental addiction issues) I do think it’s an important distinction to make, considering it enables people with such traumas to mention their home situation without having to elaborate on possibly very difficult things to talk about. It makes it so the person they’re talking to can empathise with an idea of some sort of rough upbringing, without you having to say more

I think she's crossed a line myself already.
She's essentially sexually assaulting you if she's touching you without consent. It doesn't matter that you didn't say no, you didn't say yes either and silence doesn't mean yes. I would set clear boundaries with her because it will get worse if you don't.
She's testing boundaries to see how much she can get away with and if you are romantically interested and the best thing for everyone is to be upfront and honest about how you feel. Setting boundaries will let you know her true colors. She will either gracefully accept the friend-zone or not. I understand not wanting to ruin the friendship but if she wants more with no boundaries set, it's gonna ruin the friendship anyways.

that was in August and we were married officially in March. best move of my life was bringing him home that night and i'd do it all over again. we were married the first night, at least we felt like we were, so we celebrate our anniversary in August, not March. this August will be 30 years.

Dogs need less stimulation as long as they are taken on walks, however new toys are always helpful. Any indoor pets however need a lot more enrichment. Imagine never seeing or getting anything new ever, it's why windows are excellent and toys are necessary. Also try to stop a cat from sleeping anywhere they want, not gonna happen haha (technically you can train them not to go on certain couches, counters or such but though you never know what they are doing when you leave there sight.).

Someone who would take such good care of a pet is a big green flag in my book. Especially small animals and exotics. That rabbit is clearly important to her, if its not your thing thats totally fine but to act like shes somehow worse for providing that rabbit with an excellent quality of life isnt fair. It shows compassion thought and dedication on her end. And I feel the reasoning "pets shouldnt be spoiled" has its own drawbacks. Animals don't think about things the same way people do, not to mention what you consider spoiling is probably just really great enrichment for that pet, shes taking good care of it and clearly values it, absolutey not a red flag. Bunnies require toys for enrichment. Bunnies can actually die from boreddom. They don't only need toys, but it's necessary for their health. Plus if you don't give them toys, they might quite literally destroy your entire house. They will chew furniture, baseboards, cords, etc. The biggest way to prevent this is to ensure they get enrichment needed through social interaction and toys.

Best to be straightforward if you aren't interested in a relationship. Its definitely difficult thats for sure, but if it feels like you may not be on the same page as your friend thats a good conversation to have. You can still do it with compassion, it doesnt have to be harsh or cold, and making sure communication is open and everyone is understanding each other can help a lot. It can be hard for people to pick up hints, they may never realize what you're trying to get at if you don't actually say it. Hopefully the friendship can come out stronger because of it, there is certainly the chance that telling someone you dont want a relationship will mean that person doesnt want the friendship any longer, but ultimately its best for each party to either have a friendship with open communication and undersranding or be able to move on from a friendship that isnt going to work.
