As a guitarist playing Club 7921 for 30 years I can honestly say that Michael Angelo Batio is the greatest guitarist in the history of mankind and I don't give a damn what you say ...or who you are !!
MAB is the best. He can play anything, and play it perfect. His speed, accuracy and economy of motion is a thing to behold. And where he really separates himself from others is he just doesn't focus on the "smoke and mirrors" and play blinding fast just for the sake of saying "hey, look at me" It is musical, it is well thought out and most of all, it rocks. A guy like, I don't know...Vinnie Vincent for example. Ok, so you can pick at 200 bpm. But it just does not sound musical or natural. Just fast.
I don't believe in "bests" and MAB himself would disagree with such a statement. Check out Shawn Lane if you want to see a guitarist MAB had an immense amount of respect for. Unfortunately he's no longer with us but his technique was terrifyingly good.
And another thing, I know about Michael's talent. Don't tell me about his talent. Tell me you understand how hard he has worked. I respect two things about Michael: he's a gentleman and he has a great work ethic. People don't give him credit for the hours he puts in. Dude rocks but he rocks at things during practice that we don't want to bother with, the details, the repetition, the perfecting of technique. Learn from this man's work ethic!
Blessed, and gifted with talent,, if he put the same time into a violin as he did the guitar,,he would be a master virtuoso,, on, or close to the level of a Paganini.

It was a workshop and we talked a lot with him, he was very kind and answered all the questions, plus he was funny and very open to everyone....that´s exactly waht I said in my comment. And that´s how most people talk, who have seen Batio. So what´s your god damn problem ?
He is perhaps the best teacher of guitar..... This is the god of guitar ... There can't be a better teacher than him... Not even kirk hammet or malmsteen
Well, I threw that Am pattern into my practice routine, going through it slowly at first to build the muscle memory. I would take a break every 5 minutes or so to play other things so I wouldn't get bored. In a little over an hour I'm up to 141 bpm (quarter notes) before it falls apart and gets messy. Hopefully tomorrow will be faster. I'm not expecting to play that fast this year but hopefully I can clean up my sweep picking. Its weird that I can get lessons from legendary players for free. Love the future.

SuperPsychoterror Music is not about being exceptional, you’ve got it wrong there haha. Music is about playing what you find sounding good and what appeals to you (having fun, remember?). Imo this is very impressive, but i’m not interested in playing like this (im not bashing it, thats silly).
This is definitely the clearest I've seen sweeping explained. 🤘
This is the best lesson I've seen on this topic. Plus he Sounds like Kasey Kasem.
My Guitar Teacher keeps saying that Mr. Batio's skill is nothing... I don't know, I think he's just Jealous of what Mr. Batio can do with his guitar. 😑
U speak 100% truth.... all are completely jealous haters. Batio is GOAT.
Batio is STALe....................go listen to Rick Graham on here.......its possible to shred with TASTE.
@@km-jp2sc there are millions of legendary guitarists... with soul....
the thing is Batio can play anything anyone in the world can with either hand.... and practically nobody can do what he can with both hands.....
But i get it ... super shedding kinda loses the point of music....
Nobody is going to whistle or hum this stuff.... it's definitely not catchy....
I would simply just say show me how simple it is... then when he makes it a mess... get another teachernot to mention a real musician doesn't snub others. different styles different skill levels... its all good if it sounds good. if its played clean and especially if its original I could care less about how hard it is to play. that's garbage. difficulty will never equal perfection. sometimes the absence of what some might call technical playing just sounds better. if it sounds good its good. period
@@danielcarper1060 ....... Vinnie moore---Yngwie-----jason becker---marty friedman . Go listen to them. Batio is stale and mechanical....Zero feel.
WHERE IS THE FRINGE?
the fringe has left the building xD
Dog groomer wasn’t around this week

A really talented educator. Not a huge fan of the style but his voice tone and sincerity makes me want to listen and learn.

You're one of the greatest and inspirational guitarists of all time MAB.awesome guitar tips, guitar lessons.great speed.
Great idea to slow it down and "lock it in" or build the "muscle memory" then focus on the speed, feel, and art. As a frontman that's the only way I CAN learn solos! Never thought to apply it to my nemesis sweep picking! Thanks Michael Rokkon! \m/
Anyone else notice he was playing an A flat arpeggio the entire time and not an A natural arpeggio?
***** Guitar tuned down half a step, its easier to refer the strings etc as if they weren't for simplicity
Him: "here's the chord in slow speed"
Me: "sweet, got it"
Him: "Here's medium speed"
*throws guitar out the window*
you are right mr. Michelangelo you have to start slow I've had to learn this in order to climb to the next level on the guitar I used to always think I had to jump into everything fast. but I never got over humps that way. you have to crawl before you can walk you are absolutely right sir. Thank you for the lesson.
The best guitar player I have ever listened to
Practicing slowly ... as I've heard elsewhere, "Slow is smooth and smooth is fast!"
one of the most underrated guitarist
very creative
Michael is a good clear teacher
So when did Michael became an old lady?

Skwisgaar Skwigelf Awesome!
Wait, imposters. You amments me!!! You can'ts even copies me!
I’ve met this guy a few times, he’s not real easy listen to at his clinics or at his shows. He tried to be too funny every time I saw him. He’s actually very palatable here and very knowledgeable as a teacher. Wish he’d of been like this the first time I met him 25 years ago. You can any listen to someone talk like Beavis and Butthead for so long, no matter how good they are on the guitar. Good lesson.
Michael Angelo Batio is one of my inspirations in music
Ohh my fucking God He changed his hair :D That´s like impossible haha, he stucked with his mushroom kinda looking for such a long time... I think this looks better, :D
Well beside of that, this guy is masterclass, seriously one of the best shredders ever. And he´s really cool and a nice person! Saw him 2 times
Ahm,,,. yeah as it is by most of musicians ? or are you best friend with them ? It was a workshop and we talked a lot with him, he was very kind and answered all the questions, plus he was funny and very open to everyone....that´s exactly waht I said in my comment. And that´s how most people talk, who have seen Batio. So what´s your god damn problem ?
He seems very humble. Thanks Michael.
Attending a guitar clinic back in the day at a local music store that Michael was teaching. Michael is definitely a shredder.
Goddamn that guitar is all over the place but I love it
When I played this at batio speed my dad was like this is why your single😂
He is perhaps the best teacher of guitar..... This is the god of guitar ... There can't be a better teacher than him... Not even kirk hammet or malmsteen
This awesome to see . I am still at only two note arpeggios but after watching this I might try and add a third note in there .
Literally...
He's a great teacher and player. Great explanations.
Pretty Cool video, thanks for posting this video.
I met him once in Lexington Kentucky, back in the day.
lol. "We thought they were called rakes because of the way that you sweep your arm"
Santos Jezebel that made me laugh too
just by watching your tutorial once I have become your subscriber, it's almost unbelievable
Is that Howard Stern on guitar?
I don't get it
That's Howard Sterns mom.
That's a stern sweep
Me when i try to sweep 6:12
"You have to practice this slow" ;)
This video is like a message from the universe to me hahaha because i was looking for a video like THIS! so simple, so nice!
thank you so much Batio hahaha 🤘🦇🔥
It's funny, I first discovered MAB and Speed Kills back in high school.. close to 15 years ago. I've sort of rediscovered him lately and it's really striking me how good technically this guy is and how cool he is to share his knowledge about technique.
Ok...Who's Mom is this?
Probably Jesus'

What a beautiful Dean guitar Mr. Batio
I laughed so hard when I hear this 👉..anybody can play.."prek prek prek prek"...😂😂 🍻
Where is his mushroon style :(
A very nice lesson about sweep picking.
Learned that lick 25 years ago, didn’t know you invented it, very cool, also I still suck at the lick, hopefully this helps
that medium speed tho LMAO
sir you are so awesome!.. makes me want to give up or go for it!! I Am gonna go for it!!!
That's my boy !!!! The world's best of the best in the world !!! 💓😀🤗
Always will be the maestro of shred....!
arpegios not a myth anymore....20 years ago it was a miracle to play it, today many educational vieos helped the masses to learn
If only he'd "buckle down" and practice, this guy could go places in the music world...🤣🤣🤣
What a brilliant player.
Seems like a really nice guy too.
I'm assuming that he's playing a custom guitar. Love the finish.
Thanks for explaining sweep picking so clearly.
Young MAB: "You watch Mr. Coruthers, I'm gonna keep on practicing , and one day I'm gonna be the fastest sweeper in the world..."
Boss: "Good...you can start by sweeping the floor!"
