This video is truly the epitome of living on a tropical island, I love how you show it as it is. That rewarding feeling of getting things done with the few resources that you have is unmatched and your gratitude really resonates throughout the video 💛 As I was watching this video I couldn't help but reminisce on our ten days staying there and it's also so good to see another familiar face (Jurman) as we follow along with your journey! New character unlocked: Jurman! 🦸🏻Looking forward to the next video as always... xx Lizzy
"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass but learning how to dance in the rain!" Lady, you had me there. You are right about that. Stay safe you two.
I’ve always said that the western world overly romanticizes living on an uninhabited island… like it’s vacation mode. When in actual fact, without services + other people, it’s a lot of hard work to undertake. You need to be motivated + fit to provide for yourself each day. Good for you. I’m sure there are some amazing moments of gratitude where you look at what you’ve accomplished + your beautiful setting + remember its sooo worth it 💜✨ Thanks for sharing it with us 🙏
I finished watching all your vlogs guys 24 videos in one day 😅 its a marathon!!!thank you so much for sharing your life to us...one more thing i watch all the ads on your videos 😂
Love this!! Its so cool seeing you live simply, close to nature and enjoying life - even if things don't quite work out as expected sometimes. What an awesome adventure!!
You guys are the very best channel on RUclips. I so appreciate this really true look at life on an island. Thank you for all the effort you make in creating this truly lovely content. It is so appreciated!
I came across your channel once and since then I am loving it. I wish someday I could have a life off the grid just like you guys..love you.. I'm your fan from the Philippines ;-)
So fun to experience the ins and outs of life over there! How long would the trip around the island have taken instead of cutting through the mangrove?
Just came across your channel. you are very courageous. Happy you got electricity. Perhaps you can save and make life easier by covering your roof with fiberglass or some other sea salt proof material, put in some guttering, build a stand, install a tank and let your water flow by gravity , providing water to your house.
Binge watching your videos and can’t wait to live in the jungle again. Quite a few of our subscribers don’t understand why we would want to leave safe and civilized Portugal for the jungles of Belize. Watching you guys reminds us what we’re working towards. Even on a day where things didn’t go smoothly I have a sense of calm as you share your daily life with us. ❤
@@OurIslandLife Well put! Portugal is a great place to find a sense of community, a slower pace of life and a sense of fulfilment. Unfortunately it’s too cold for us here. We’re also looking forward to living in a more natural, less developed area again.
So enjoying your vids, magical mango harvesting 💚and that boat trip, through the mangroves is stunning! My partner spent a lot of time in Borneo in the Jungle with local people and he dreams of this kind of life style again 🙏✌🌿
When I was little we udes to put food that needed to keep cool in the whell where we toke our water too. And we have ground cellar for veggies, pickles ets to store in chill
Found you guys randomly through the algorithm. Fascinating lifestyle ans congratulations. Curious however, how does it work for medical emergencies? You are both very active, surf, there are poisonous snakes etc. How fast can you see a doctor?
Hello both just wanted to say what a life humbling decision you have chosen an I'm in ore of what you are doing. It would be a dream of mine to live in the Mentawais but as much of a lovely thought it can be the reality of how difficult it is is very scary. I visit the mentawai islands most years since 2009 to surf, the last several years I stay at mentawai surf camp owned by Lora and Diego & family. Me and my partner Emily are travelling back there next week 11th October for 2 weeks. Good luck with everything
Yes it definitely isn’t just perfect waves and white beaches 😅 Thank you for your kind words and say hi if you see us in the water in October! Hope you’ll have a nice trip!
If you able to build small chalet can also generate some income, as I am sure there are market for some foreigner who loves to be in nature and to experience island living.
I love your videos. I couldn't go back to the bush though hahaha I love modern day conveniences too much! Still, it's really nice seeing someone make it work :)
Can I suggest you keep livestock like Chicken, Sheep or lamb or maybe cow so that you have endless supply of meat and eggs and goat milk. Self-sustaining and sell them to the villagers when you have surplus. Plant ubi kayu, or Kailan surrounding your house for vegetables. Plant rambutan and durian or langsat for fruits etc
If you guys start making more income on youtube…is there an affordable place you could you stay over night on siberut once a month? Would make the trip more enjoyable, less stressful + be good to fill your cups…you could look forward to a dinner out and a break from chores once a month.💜
Wooow, I admire you a lot! What do you do if your boat breaks down on the way to shopping? It seems that you travel a long distance to "civilization". Thanks for the answer, I wish you success in everything you do!
I grew up in rural Karnataka, India. This is real hardcore remote living. My village with buses that come every hour is a walk in the park compared to this.
just curious how do you make money other than youtube dont answer if you dont want also can you grow vegstables in your garden more european things beans carrots cabbage etc am guessing most things grow in hot climate ? i could send you loads of seeds for vegs and herbs if interested

Not too much longer but depending on the weather conditions it could be between half and hour to even an hour longer 😅
