Love it - a fertile land will always provide. Cudos to you both - no shoes. Brings back memories of childhood rampaging through the forest looking for afternoon snacks.
Seeing you guys gives me a glimpse of what life could have been like if I didn't leave the jungles of Vietnam. With the surf I think the ments are an even better jungle.
Given the choice to live in a posh subdivision with a Ferrari vs a self-sustaining island, I'll always take island living. Obviously there will be challenges. But you can never underestimate the value of peace of mind, contentment and serenity vs. grandiose envy-based, self absorbed living. Island life is ❤
I love making jams and preserves too ! I live in an area where there are fruit orchards and I am super grateful. Seeing the mango trees was such a treat! Thank you😊.
My mouth was watering as I was watching this video. I’m originally from the Philippines but now live in Australia. One thing us Filipinos love is green mangoes. I like it when it is still crunchy. There are some mangoes that are somewhat sweet even when they’re green, and some are very sour. I prefer the sweet green ones more than I do sweet ripe mangoes. Have you tried green mangoes? In the Philippines, it is normally eaten with a shrimp paste called Bagoong. I wish I could send you photos on here, to show you what it looks like. Another fruit that you mentioned is Rambutan, it is my favourite fruit of all time. Please show us when you go harvesting rambutan, as I’ve never seen where they come from. I absolutely love your videos. I am becoming a huge fan and look forward to seeing more of your life❤️
Ooh green mangoes interesting! There are some type of small greener ones here that aren’t so sweet but also not sour so maybe similar to the ones your talking about!
I like making mango custard every now and then, 2 mangos, 4 egg yolks and some vanilla, use a blender or something to mash it up, heat it up and let it simmer for around 8 minutes, let it cool down, this recipe makes 2 portions.
Hello, I just saw a video of you two on Exploring Alternatives and I just had to come over to subscribe and see more. I love your way of life, it brings back memories of my childhood growing up here on my island in the Caribbean. I have been harvesting lots of mangoes lately (as it is mango season), which I usually freeze to make smoothies year round, I currently have a lot I need to prepare. Your video just gave me a great idea to make mango jam with some. I've never made mango jam before so THANK GOODNESS FOR RUclips 🤣I will be watching some tutorials on how to do that so I can do it later today. Than you for sharing your life with us. Love and light to you. 🥰❣
Isn't it amazing that there's so much bounty in the wild and the eaters are so few? The same way it rains in the oceans that are full of water?. I would treasure visiting this place over the daily London grind, plus each of those mangoes are over £1.50 in the least. Beautiful videos, keep posting. Stay safe
@OurIslandLife Enjoy paradise on our behalf. All the best with your endeavours and good health and wealth to both of you and your lived ones. Congratulations on your achievements. You deserve the reward for your hard work. Looking forward to your next video.
I always love mangoes and the best mangoes are the ones that are tree ripened. I was salivating when An was peeling the mangos and you both ate it. The mangoes in the grocery stores here in the western world taste so much different from those that you just ate. Stay blessed.
You're so lucky, those mangoes are organic! No pesticides, no hormones to make them flower. You must really know your way around your island. It's like "Eden". You find a lot of stuff in "your garden". Just wondering, there's no natives there that makes you extra careful?
Yes, it’s unbelievable what nature can provide. By natives you mean local people? Yes, they are here off course. An is native to the Mentawai Islands :) so we know most people here in the area ☺️
I watched all those mangoes and remembered the high cost I pay for just a single mango in UAE yet it was even picked off the tree immature! Hope the forest is safe enough to walk bear footed. I suggest you always put on boots/ shoes
Try the following additions to your mango chutney if you can Ginger, garlic red chilies are sauteed in oil and then cumin, coriander, turmeric, cloves, cinnamon and cardamom .
They are what people here use in stead of backpacks ☺️ they make them themselves out of rotan. Ours are made by An’s sister and by someone else who lives on the island. If i get the chance to film someone making them, i will 😉
During my stay with you guys, An taught me some of the customs and I felt they were connected in that they stem from a careful humility, since chaos/danger/spirits (different cultures, different names?) come at you from all sides all the time out there. Be it a drought, disease, a snake... When we were heading out to travel back home and we decided to have coffee first, An referred to a custom that said you shouldn't do an activity right when you're about to leave or travel. Don't push your luck, is what I heard!
I would be in heaven with those mangoes 🥭 I take the seed that has a little meat left on it fill up a Pitcure’s or glass with water. In the morning take the seeds out and it’s mango water. Better than soda.
Do you sun dry pieces of mango? Perfect to nibble while watching podcasts... In lndia we made mango pickle just by mixing mango with oil and spices and leaving the jars in the sun. Is your climate not suitable for tbis method maybe?
U guys sooooo romantic...i can life without phone,n i can eat anything,n also i can life like ur do guys.just one thing i cant is i cant life without air condition😂😂😂....stay healthy guys.salam
@@OurIslandLife I just had a look and it's even heakthy for doggies to eat mango. not Kilowise of course but a little mango snack every now and them seems to be good :) who knew! Thank you again for this awesome video!

Great video once again guys! Mangoes have been going off here too, this year has been the best season for mangoes I've seen in a decade!
Ooh thanks guys! Yes, this mango season has been nuts! 🤯
How nice, you got mangoes that just dropped to the ground. Nobody owns these trees? Just a matter of getting it yourself! You could sell it too?
Sangat menyenangkan tinggal di pulau yang banyak buah-buahan segar ❤

In lndia we made mango pickle just by mixing mango with oil and spices and leaving the jars in the sun. Is your climate not suitable for tbis method maybe?
Hmmm interesting! We’ve thought about drying them but as it’s so incredibly humid here we decided not to as they would probably get moldy… 🫣
