This home was intentionally built and is respectful of its environment. There is such a soulful and spiritual aura to the family and their home and the use of indigenous materials gives honor to the land and the people. This is how people should approach living in our world, not to take advantage of it but to build an appreciation of nature.
So many aspects of our lives has been “westernised” & “urbanised”, it’s so nice to actually see you seek inspiration from your roots for a better, fulfilling way of living. God Bless you and your loved ones.
Wow this is truly modern pinoy architecture, absolutely gorgeous, appropriate, respectful, an amazing achievement. A masterclass in how to extend rather than replace the classics.
I'm Indonesian but looking at this also makes me feel at home. the design is undeniably it's own thing, not trying to be Japanese which is the usual thing people go for when trying to be "close to nature". it uses humble materials but the design is intentional. I hope this style becomes a trend like Zen & Scandinavian
@@Ustazgay yes, tropical homes are kind of underrated when it comes to “close-to-nature” / “grounded” living. Especially SEA style homes. The traditional architecture can be so beautiful and work well with the landscape when given a chance
Tha main issue is bugs - mosquitos. I live in a similar latitude and there is no way I could be outside before 6am or after 6pm. In a short video looks nice but day in day out except during a short period every year would be difficult to endure. I am planning on building a home soon near the coast of bay of Bengal and while I will incorporate similar ideas using concrete and thatched roof there will be sliding wall systems to shut out the living areas when required.
Justin is an incredibly talented architect and remarkably humble. He is also blessed with a beautiful family-Sarah and Janu. Wishing you many more projects in the future so that you can continue sharing your talents with others, Arch!
a well-made house that coexists with nature and animals AND WITH MODERN PLUMBING. now that's the vibe. it feels so tranquil even looking through a screen.
This house is like a dream! It must be great to hear the sound of nature everytime. Just have some concerns 1. Are those molds? 2. If one of them gets struck by illness, malayo sa hospital 3. Once the kid needs to go to school, it will change the dynamics unless homeschooled? (Yes, i thought that far) 4. Dengue 5. Bagyo. Pero sabagay, naka enclosed naman gamit nila sa rooms. Di rin siguro sila babahain. 6. Sustainable living. 8. Community for the kid
Community for the kid was my first thought. During their early years kids are happy to only be with their parents. But as they get older they will experience terrible loneliness without other kids to play with.
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched this-it’s just mesmerizing. The peaceful surroundings, architecture, and that nearby lake create such a dreamy atmosphere. Your child is incredibly lucky to be growing up in a place so close to nature; it’s a gift that will stay with him forever.
You live the dharma in your everyday life. Fate will be kind to your family. This mindfulness will bring in bliss and positivity into your home. However, the best thing I got from this video is the value of co-existence that you teach to your son. He will grow up grounded in humility and experience life deeply connected to nature. A house of beauty and minimalism!
I live isolated by choice out in the rainforest of the Pacific Northwest. It's very different but I understand the peace, unhurried pace, and choice to live an intentional life away from urban centers. Watching this video was zen-like and calming.
Just by watching this video, it's like I can smell the wet nipa, wood, breeze, wet soil, etc. It's like it's taking me back to my grandmother's house. The nostalgic feeling, and simplicity of living off the grid. Sana makagawa din ako ng ganito in the near future. Balak ko sa probinsya ng lola ko sa Mindanao.
Coexisting with insects and animals ❤ there's a lot of wisdom in the context of using "nakikitira lang kami" which translates to "we're just living off in a space that isn't ours"
Maybe it's just me but watching the video makes me so emotional. For all the right reasons of course. It's just the built composition is so well thought and Justin spoke to the place, the house, and anything in between to ensure there's harmony and unity between the dwellers and the surroundings. Isn't that lovely?

This house tour hits me differnt...vry emotional. Kicker yung phrase where arch said 'nakikitira lang kami'.. The subtle touch of tech on a natural envirnment givs the house a unique character.. Beautiful house, beautiful family.
Love this home. I read in the comments that many felt emotional about it. I totally get that. We live the trauma from numerous typhoons and natural calamities that could be prevented. Imagine the frustration. And here we see a placid, pro-active creation from the architect and his family who listens to nature, respects it, is grateful to it for giving them permission to live in its bounty. This is THE good life. Well done and God bless.
It's not just a beautiful home in a beautiful place. All the things he says really moved me and that bathtub and bathroom... Wow! ❤ This looks like a retreat! That huge kitchen counter and share with animals and insects. I almost felt like crying. I had to see this video. 🙏
This is now the second video I've watched featuring Justin, (I first saw the one he did on the cinema he built), and he has such a way of putting together content, (music, shots, and narration), that is so calming and relaxing. It feels meditative. Such a beautiful and peaceful feeling home that he's built for himself and his family. It was interesting to hear him speak about how he sometimes waited for the house to inform him of how it should be built. I do wonder though, (my western mentality coming through), with such an open space how secure is it when they're not home or if they decide to travel.
Love your house. I too left the metropolis and moved closer to nature right beside the waters. Im living my best and healthiest life ever. God bless you and your family ❤
I just came here from watching a video about an air b n b in a nature reserve with all types of wild animals and truth be told the openess where anything can come and go... by the end of the video I had anxiety

i love how he took local wisdom on how to make the roof too. and ensured to use native wood instead of non-native. this is how good architecture should be.
simple but remarkable. It designs people to value nature and coexist with it in a calming and invigorating way. cant believe this is traditional filipino design and we've distanced and relied on other designs. If i had the choice to build a house in the future I hope to apply the same principles of valuing the goodness nature and slow living has to offer ❣️
I really doubt that they went to the effort of designing the house in such a manner without considering the possible effects of rain etc. it is magnificent

It does! Such a well thought out design for the Philippine climate 😊
When the mind is strong, you can achieve your heart's desire. This house is a testament of pure intentions. Simply heartwarming 😍
Beautifully put! The home really does radiate a sense of warmth and purpose. 😍
simple, unpretentious and yet so full of thought
Best words to describe the home 😊
That last line "nakikitira lang kami" says a lot about this humble home.
It does, few words really captures the essence 😊
Masterclass.
🙏
simple but remarkable. It designs people to value nature and coexist with it in a calming and invigorating way. cant believe this is traditional filipino design and we've distanced and relied on other designs. If i had the choice to build a house in the future I hope to apply the same principles of valuing the goodness nature and slow living has to offer ❣️
That’s a beautiful perspective-traditional Filipino design really has a way of fostering a deep connection with nature. 😊
they never really talk about how the house fares during the annual monsoon season
He did mention that the house is well-oriented and the roof lines are low enough to keep rainwater away from the interiors.
Wet
Wow 🤩 this is the most amazing house I ever experienced close to nature. This is true luxury! You are blessed
It really is a stunning fusion of nature and design, offering a rare kind of luxury. Truly inspiring!
I want to see this space when it is raining, i am not convinced at all
I think it would be even better then.
You don't have to be convinced. You don't live in it.
I really doubt that they went to the effort of designing the house in such a manner without considering the possible effects of rain etc. it is magnificent
good thing u don’t live in it huh
Wow. Dream house. I’ve watched hours of this kind of stuff and this house if you can call it that is the most impressive 😮
It sounds like you've found a real standout! When a home resonates that strongly, it truly stands out from the rest. 😊
Ganda! 👏👏👏❤

utterly beautiful. Well done. Lovely family and house.
Such a lovely home indeed, and the family's warmth really shines through in the design. Well done all around!
