This home was intentionally built and is respectful of its environment. There is such a soulful and spiritual aura to the family and their home and the use of indigenous materials gives honor to the land and the people. This is how people should approach living in our world, not to take advantage of it but to build an appreciation of nature.

I'm Indonesian but looking at this also makes me feel at home. the design is undeniably it's own thing, not trying to be Japanese which is the usual thing people go for when trying to be "close to nature". it uses humble materials but the design is intentional. I hope this style becomes a trend like Zen & Scandinavian

    • @runway5338
      @runway5338 Месяц назад +3

@@Ustazgay yes, tropical homes are kind of underrated when it comes to “close-to-nature” / “grounded” living. Especially SEA style homes. The traditional architecture can be so beautiful and work well with the landscape when given a chance

Tha main issue is bugs - mosquitos. I live in a similar latitude and there is no way I could be outside before 6am or after 6pm. In a short video looks nice but day in day out except during a short period every year would be difficult to endure. I am planning on building a home soon near the coast of bay of Bengal and while I will incorporate similar ideas using concrete and thatched roof there will be sliding wall systems to shut out the living areas when required.

    1. Are those molds?
    2. If one of them gets struck by illness, malayo sa hospital
    3. Once the kid needs to go to school, it will change the dynamics unless homeschooled? (Yes, i thought that far)
    4. Dengue
    5. Bagyo. Pero sabagay, naka enclosed naman gamit nila sa rooms. Di rin siguro sila babahain.

Love this home. I read in the comments that many felt emotional about it. I totally get that. We live the trauma from numerous typhoons and natural calamities that could be prevented. Imagine the frustration. And here we see a placid, pro-active creation from the architect and his family who listens to nature, respects it, is grateful to it for giving them permission to live in its bounty. This is THE good life. Well done and God bless.

This is now the second video I've watched featuring Justin, (I first saw the one he did on the cinema he built), and he has such a way of putting together content, (music, shots, and narration), that is so calming and relaxing. It feels meditative. Such a beautiful and peaceful feeling home that he's built for himself and his family. It was interesting to hear him speak about how he sometimes waited for the house to inform him of how it should be built. I do wonder though, (my western mentality coming through), with such an open space how secure is it when they're not home or if they decide to travel.

I'm 19 years old living on a farm in eastern Texas as of now, but i used to live in a neighborhood in the city, it was super cramped. So when we moved out of the city I felt like i had room to breathe.
I planted some bamboo at the beginning of the year, and slowly over the past 5 weeks I've been quite interested in Bamboo/Natural architecture. This house with its broad open structure and natural materials is something i want to recreate for myself out of bamboo.
There is something special about being free of Paint, Drywall, Metal, Concrete, the list could go on. Life has been made rigid and confined thanks to the westernization of life and community, i see places like Rural Japan where there is a tight knit sense of community, but here in the west and especially here in the states, the definition of "community" only seems to be about selling goods and making money at annual festivals.
I see these lives and communities of people in Indonesia, The Philippines, Rural Japan, Singapore, South Korea, It makes me want to leave the states.
There is a difference to being lonely, and being lonely with a true community.
i didn't quite mean for this to become a rant, but seeing home so grounded and a family so tight makes me happy, but also sad for everyone in the U.S.

As an architect I Love the open plan & uses of filipino indegenous materials. My main concerns:
the lifespan of organic materials & the infiltration of mosquitoes, termites & insects.

Absolutely, blending indigenous materials with modern design is inspiring!

I wonder, how domestic animals may help with small and medium-sized insects (and probably snakes, as well). some walls are concrete, so termites should show no interest in them, others may be treated or cured with primers…
Also, locals usually seem unbothered with them at all…
But that is a good point and it would be interesting to know how these concerns were addressed

😭🥹😍The love, care and intention that is possible when building on the earth. This video filled my soul and brought me to tears of joy for how beautiful this architects heart is when he created his families home.
Craft and artistry with the intention of sitting on the land to listen to the air and trees before he even started building. Imagine what this world could look like if we took more time to connect and communicate with nature before establishing our footprint.

    • @StackedHomes

Beautifully expressed. The approach of harmonizing with the land speaks volumes about how deeply intention and empathy can transform not just a structure, but the space around it.

simple but remarkable. It designs people to value nature and coexist with it in a calming and invigorating way. cant believe this is traditional filipino design and we've distanced and relied on other designs. If i had the choice to build a house in the future I hope to apply the same principles of valuing the goodness nature and slow living has to offer ❣️
