Ben The Coin Geek
Old Pueblo Coin
I remember picking through a Franklin roll that one of the coin dealers I frequented at the time had just cracked open. It felt like opening a time capsule. I should consider getting some of the coins I got from those rolls graded. Thanks, Ben!
Interesting results. I have two original rolls of 1950 and 1951 Benjamins with similar condition coins. Luv'em.
Hi Ben. If the line is interrupted, it is not a full line. I don't like that type of toning. *>>--->* 🦉
Thanks, it's helpful to see to so many of the same coin at one time. I'm beginning to appreciate so-called natural toning. Here's what we really need: a coin supply company that sells paper envelopes of different compositions that will produce certain gentle toning effects. Hey, don't steal my idea, it's ©copyrighted.
Ya can't wait. Fake toned coins everywhere. The value will surely rise
@@user-pj6bl5md5r Lol. It's real toning, right? In 1948 someone wrapped those Benjamin halves in a paper wrapper; Is that toning real or fake? Ben, do you still have that coin roll wrapper? Can I buy it from you? I want to use it again. All the best!
The Franklin that was the last in the roll, in my opinion, is FBL. Also, I see at least two that should have, I think, graded as MS-66.
Nice Franklins.🔥🔥🔥 Always liked the Franklin design. ⭐Strong and simple. ⭐
When I'm digging through the junk silver bucket at my LCS, I love finding the coins that were the end of a roll. All toned on one side and blast white on the other side. I have quite the handful of them. I think your channel has moved to my most watched coin channel.
Thank you!
In my experience any obstruction on the bell lines will result in a non designation. Same thing with full bands on Mercury dimes.
A well struck coin is especially nice when it's from one of the first years of issue, where the original hub hasn't been used to create new dies multiple times yet. Look at things like the hair lines on Ben's (the guy on the coin, not the one in the video ;-) ) head and even the texturing of the fields. That gets harder to find as you look through coins from later years in a series.
Agreed. You can see that same deterioration very well on Lincoln Cents after 1909.
Those are nice mint state franklins
Those were nice, live the strike quality, better than a unc/bu roll of 53p i went through last winter. All 63 or 64, Was lucky to get 1 fbl out of the bunch. Love those old rolls.
Wow Ben! I had no idea how easy it is to Fbl on some dates. I was hoping for them on my 1963s. $$$ Not!
Thanks again.
Denver mint coins are far more common in Wisconsin than their Philly counterpart upon release. The Philly mints don't regularly show up in pocket change for a year or two.
The 1948 unopened OBW would have probably realized north of $1200 on eBay considering f the last two 1950-D and P sold for over $1300 and the 48P is a scarcer bank wrapped roll
Just fyi
I have had two $20 shotgun 1948-D bank wrapped rolls in my collection since 2020. At that time I paid $800 for each and since then I've had multiple offers between $2000-2400 for them and the 48-D is slightly more common than the 48P
Take the money and run 😆
@@TheCoinGeekthose are part of my core collection - you've sold me a couple rolls 2-3 years ago. One day
I can't believe what these are selling for on great collections
A bunch of
Common bank wrapped 1964 Kennedy obw sold over the last few weeks all realizing $280-350 before the juice
Ians sales numbers have been moon money the last year or 2
Glad I have a complete set BU....
All beautiful coins 😍
You sure know how to pick em Ben nice job.
Franklin halves, especially if non-FBL, tend to sell for well below price guide value at auction. I appreciate others paying the grading fees for me, but it's a money pit for dealers.
I bought an MS66 NGC common-date Franklin for $40 today. The seller eats the shipping cost. I almost feel guilty about it, but I put in my lowball bid and followed the rules and won the auction.
Very cool Mr Geek!
I vote no on FBL if a mark interrupts the lines.
The half that was graded MS64 but not full bell lines -- it would be fun if you cracked it out. Cleaned the reverse and resubmitted it. I think it had full bell lines.
New subscriber. Really enjoy your videos - educational and entertaining. Has “Old Pueblo Coins” been around for a long time? I could swear I ordered from you many, many years ago, as in decades. Thanks for your hard work.
We’ve been in business since 1982
@@TheCoinGeek Sounds about right to me. That kind of longevity speaks volumes. God Bless.
Thanks for the Franklin education Ben. Always learning something from you.
My pleasure!
YEA! *FIRST* thumb up.
I wasn't even the first 👍 on the first 👍 comment 😞😴
@@CertifiedPre33 LOL Pre.
♻️ 50 cent half's are good to collect ♻️
I collect Franklins. The strike designations are only *slightly* less vexing than Jefferson nickels. It seems to me that NGC is a bit stingy with the Benji halves, so much so that I stopped submitting to them after the total annihilation of my last submission. This video kinda confirms that for me. I'm all about the Benjamins, but only at PCGS now.
Interesting- I have not been keeping to close a tabs on my fbl results PCGS vs NGC
Nice!
Hi Ben
Good morning Ben
Oops @ 11:05 Phillie?
My dream coin is the 53s FBL with the Bugs Bunny🙏🙏
to restore or not to restore, that is the question?
Can I bring some of my Franklins to the shop for you to look at?
Yes
Hey Ben
Ben love your show, i have been to your store in Tucson many years ago.2017 I think.....any way I'm kind of a clean freak and obsessive compulsive with that,,SOOOO was wondering if you could change out your placemat that you film on I'm having a hard time looking at the crease the stains the magic marker stuff I'm sorry!!! I find myself not being able to look at coins anymore just that dirty thing... once again im sorry
Yeah- it’s a lazy thing that that still is in use
Is the last 1 for sale
hi ben
Man I can't believe ngc got as nit picky as pcgs
Maybe you grade Benjis better is because you’re a Benji.
😂
Be nice to know what you’re cost for the grading.
Thanks- most grading companies are $20 to $45 per coin plus some other shipping and handling fees.
These were send on the economy service ,so closer to the $25 each when all things are done
@@TheCoinGeek Thanks, Ben
FOURTH!
I believe you would have had worse grades from PCGS and definitely from CACG.

No ok
