Famous for being able to complete a painting in under an hour, iconic artist Bob Ross fascinated audiences with his “wet on wet” technique for several years. Thanks to his charming personality, unique hairdo, and lighthearted sense of humor, he quickly became a fan favorite, while teaching millions of people his method on PBS’ “The Joy of Painting”
Even after passing away from lymphoma, his fame never ceased and he even gained new fans on streaming video sites like Twitch and RUclips.
Yet, there seemed to be something off about Bob that was hard to explain, an unspoken tragedy that traces back to the early 1960s, when his journey started from the last place you'd expect, the United States Air Force.
Bob Ross, Jim Henson, Fred Rogers. People this world needs more of but sadly lack.
I have 2 of his paintings... Left to me by my grandmother who worked at pbs when ross did... Watching him has a kid inspired my artistic side ...i do a class once a month in the bob ross style... He was a true treasure for not just my generation but all
Bob was just an all-around GOOD man. May he RIP. 🙏
His son still did not get anything from his father's inheritance. The kowalskis got everything. They robbed Bob's family and continue to do so.
I loved Bob Ross. He is sorely missed.
Shame on that wicked couple who used and abused him for their own greedy, selfish, financial gain. They owe him and his family tremendously!
If you love him so much then why don't you marry him?
Watched Bob Ross as a child with my mother who loved to paint. Now, in 2023 my grandson and I watch. RIP Bob
My middle daughter, now 43, LOVED him: she can't paint a stroke or draw a straight line, but she would watch these shows for hours.
Despite the Kowalskis being blood-sucking, horrible human beings, I still watch Bob Ross because in this current world of doom and gloom, he truly does bring "Joy" to life, even decades after his passing. The Kowalskis can have the money; no one will remember them in the end.
How terrible
The world isn't doom and gloom, your world is doom and gloom😢.
God will remember everyone's works theirs including
Bob Ross helped me become the person I am now .I was a mad and bad kid with artistic skills but I was lost . watching Bob paint and the way he carried himself helped me be who I actually am I realized you didn't have to be tough you could just be a good person.thank u Bob
I had no idea about the Kowalskis. But I can tell you this much now, I will NEVER again purchase another item that uses Bob Ross name. And as an Artist myself, I’ll be sure to pass the information in this video along. Their ill gotten gain won’t follow them to the judgement seat of God, but their evil deeds certainly will.
Bob had another mind and he's still teaching us today, Im one of his students in 2024
I watched him every saturday on pbs. Bob was just amazing. His voice was the calmest ive ever heard. Such a talented man
My ex girlfriend worked for Avis in Nashville Municipal Airport and loved Bob Ross..said he was absolutely the nicest person she ever met and dealt with him often.
Even though I never learned to paint, I grew up watching Bob Ross. His show was mesmerizing to me.
We all know Bob Ross, we never knew the kowalskis, his name will live on forever, while those one people, sorry, forgot theirs names, will never matter. Rest In Painting Paradise to a great man. A legend.
Bob was my happy place. Miss him.
Bob was such a huge blessing to so many. Thanks, Bob.
A gentle soul. God bless Bob
Bob was my first teacher. I was disabled and in an electric wheelchair many years ago. I decided to paint, to learn to do what I had always wanted to do, since I could no longer work as a nurse. I bought paints, brushes, and canvases and followed along with his show. That was SO long ago. And I am still painting. Though I have branched out in styles and media, Bob is still watching over my shoulder while I work!
My dad loved him, so I loved him. Remember that little squirrel he kept in his pocket? My dad never missed an episode. He just always came across as a kind, gentle man. Those Kowalskis were evil 😈
Bob Ross was and will forever be the artist. All others are leaches. What belonged to Bob, belongs to his children.
GOD BLESSED YOU BOB ROSS AT LEAST NO ONE CAN TAKE THAT AWAY FROM YOU!!
Bob Ross is a great gift to us all. A hero in my world. I have learned so much from him. Thank you. Bob!
I’m 50 years old now I grew up watching Bob and I still watch his episodes today in 2024. I’ve lived in Alaska my whole life and will never leave. God bless you, Bob.
😢3 years ago, I did my first painting ever while watching one of his episodes. Everyone who has seen the painting says it’s a beautiful painting. I even shocked myself when it was finished. I had watched him paint on pbs over 30 years ago. I was 6. I didn’t think that I could paint something that good. Bob inspired me to try…Thanks Bob🫡 Blessings to Mr Robert Ross and his Family!
A unique and amazing man. I love watching him create "beauty" from the beauty around him and do so with such "ease". Truely amazing.
My husband, daughter and I watched (and listened) to Bob Ross on PBS channel KQED San Francisco and we all loved him.
He taught us all to paint and we loved every minute.
Shame on those cheaters.
Rest in heavenly peace dearest Bob.
Happy clouds.
BOB ROSS... LEGEND
I love Bob Ross and enjoy his 30 minute painting shows. I find that painting relaxes me and takes my mind away from the pain of rheumatism. Shame on the people who took advantage of him and his family. I really enjoy his brushes and paints and find they are quite different than other options. I don’t like that others are profiting from it but it keeps his legacy alive. Rest in peace Bob. God bless.
What a fun guy. A true American Icon. RIP Bob and may you be relaxing under a happy little tree in Heaven.
Great artist loved his soft voice and gentle spirit as he painted
BOB WAS FIGHTER TILL THE END, MUCH RESPECT 😮
My father used to watch Bob's show. My father practiced painting. He painted a nice scene on a hand saw blade. I have this treasure in my home as my father has passed years ago. I also enjoyed watching Bob's show.
Beautiful soul! 🦋🌻❤️
He had an amazing ability to draw people in. I remember as a kid someone would change the channel and bob would be on painting. Slowly as each person in the house noticed or heard Bob on tv, they would come in and get mesmerized by him. By the end of the show, everyone in the household would be in front of the tv watching. Many years later i was in a medical facility and i happened to catch the Joy of Painting on tv in the clinic lounge. Same thing happened, slowly one by one people would get sucked in and by the end of the show a big crowd of people were in the lounge watching the show including some of the medical staff. He had some kind of special power to lure people into watching him paint. He made painting look so incredibly easy and his demeanor voice and appearance was one of a kind.
I heard this story years ago. What the Kowalski’s did to Bob & his son’s was awful. They are terrible people. I have always felt especially bad for Steve. He grew up painting with his Dad…. And deserved so much more from his Dad’s estate.
Loved, Missed, Never Forgotten, Bob Ross 💔
He was a wonderful person and a great artist. I always have a place in my heart for Bob and his family
Omg I respect his kindness and strength in trying to help animals growing up and wanting to be gentler with others.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Bob ross one of the greatest art painting artist of all time i always like watching how he made his art work come to life ,, 🎨 God bless him .
I watch Bob Ross often. No mater what troubled me watching & listening too Bob whisked them away with every stroke of his happy little brushes. He is truly a beloved and missed man and happy artist ❤
I loved Bob Ross, he inspired me to paint. When I was young, I remember watching the show. It was so relaxing, like meditation. Completely humble greatness, no one will ever be like Bob.
I still watch Bob, twice a week!
I loved to watch him each week when I was growing up. He had a calming way about him. He had great vision and put it on canvas for all of us. Now he is enjoying his time in heaven. So deserved! Thank you Bob!
Love love love to bob ross. I painted many canvasses in 30 minutes with him though they were never as good as his I enjoyed the experience❤❤❤❤
Beautiful hearts live forever . I am grateful for Bob Ross's life as gift fir all of us .
I watched Bob Ross on QVC for most of my younger life .never knew anything about his life and how these discusting people tried to rule his life and name.much love to a man that helped me find myself through his paintings and his attitude.rest in peace Bob Ross
Love his paintings. I watch him when I was little.and still do
Thank you for everything Bob!!! ❤️
I miss Bob Ross🙏💯 I watch his show every day 🙏🥰💯
I named my dog Bob Ross and boy the looks I get at the dog park when I yell "Bob Ross"! Just like his namesake he's the chillest pup around. RIP Bob Ross the legend.
I loved Bob Ross!! Watching his PBS shows was the first time I felt like I might possess a tiny bit of creativity. I now have 3 pictures that I created, hanging in my dining room. Two done with colored pencils and one done with soft pastels. No, they weren't Bob Ross style paintings, but I give him total credit for awakening that creativity in me. Bob Ross will always be my hero. And I agree with a previous commenter. No one will remember the parasitic Kowalskis. All their money did not give them peace or happiness.
I never knew he died until recently! Loved his personality n painting talents.❤
Kowalski's suck.
He was a wonderful person ❤❤❤
such a legend. Need more people like him in this world.
How sad such a talented soul was wrought and harmed by others greed.
Although I have been painting for quite a long time, Bob Ross really made everyone feel that painting is easy and you can do it.
Watching him on PBS and then I bought all the series DVDs which I watch them even now.
I have painted many paintings in his style, some I kept and some I gifted. Even today I use his techniques and there are some videos on my channel dedicated to him, which I finger painted on ceramic tile using Bob Ross Paints (which I have lots of them). I can't get enough of watching him paint surrealistic and colorful scenes. Even today I learn something out of them.
Greed, knows no bounds so all the art supplies that you see in the store with the Bob Ross name on it the money is going to Kowalski‘s. Nope won’t be buying anymore of that.
An amazing Artist and human being:)
"The disadvantage his death would cause them was more important to them than the loss of life itself." 😢
used to sit up to 3am to watch our bob what a great guy his laugh every time he cleaned his brushes cracked me up. RIP BOB
Am a fan. God Bless.
This is a sad story about what greed can do.
A kind hearted soul who inspired many to experience joy in painting. He was a talented artist who paints for God now.I miss Bob Ross
I have always enjoyed watching him paint. It relaxed me and his soothing voice and art coming to life was wonderful. R.I.P ❤
Money destroys everything good...but it destroys evil as well..
Bob Ross paintings were all beautiful and unique. May he rest in peace.🙏
You are so very missed! Now I know why I loved him! He was an Air Force veteran like my dad who became a Senior Aeronautical Engineer, I miss them both! Bob taught me how to paint! My Dad taught me how to love!
Greed is everywhere Nothing new.
But what a great artist Wow
His show inspired me to pursue art as a poor child. I only could afford crayons, construction paper, drawing tablets, and marker, pen ad ink, craypaws, and colored pencils.
I loved his show!!❤❤❤
Loved watching his paintings come to life, happy little trees,
Slapping that wide brush on the esle. God bless you Bob
Thank you for sharing for I always watched his program and enjoyed them as a matter of fact I still watch them when I see them on TV.
He taught me how to paint 🎨.
I love watching My daddy love watching tooRIP Bob ❤🙏🙌👑🌟➕️📖
Love Bob Ross he's the reason I took up painting. I haven't been brave enough to do oils yet. But hope to soon.
Always comforting to watch and try his style.
I LOVE BOB ROSS. Thank you so much for sharing
Bob Ross was a humble painter that taught everyone how to see the world in a beautiful way. A viewer didn't have to paint. We could
watch and hear the gentle sound of Ross' voice to escape from the pressures of the world.
It is a shame that the Kowalskis were so desperate to make money that they couldn't fully understand Bob Ross' message, to share an omnionce of peace and calm through art.
Nothing more relaxing and enjoyable than watching and listening to Bob paint. Love you, Bob .
I love Bob Ross he really was a great helper with my son as a baby to a little man.. he teached my son how to be a good artist
I love watching this great man.. I seen an episode for the first time in 2022 and, in awe of his paintings, I was hooked to his character immediately. There won't be another.. God bless his soul, and his family. ❤
Bob was the best. How could anyone not enjoy his show.
Bob is so awesome. I absolutely love that he just decided to become a softer person after leaving the military. Such a awesome inspiration.
I got hooked watching Bob while on layoff. I could watch him for hours then, and if I come across one of his shows now, I drop what I'm doing to watch. Rip Bob and thanks!
Fascinating life story. Do remember watching show. Sad about his too early passing..
Thank you for sharing.
💐🎨🖼🙂🙏🏼💐
My mother loved watching him every week when I was in school and lived w my parents 30 years ago. She still paints, and we still speak of Bob Ross's awesomeness 🫡
I watched and painted some with his product and still enjoy watching on you tube he was a great comfort to me when I was going though some medical issues( all fine now) Love is comforting voice and caring manner. Rest in Peace.
He was a true legend. I watched this man day in and day out as a young child. Im now 40 years old. Watching this video, took me back to a time when life and this world was much easier and stable. Maybe I was just young and innocent, who knows. What I do know is, I would give anything to step back into those days, just one more time.

My husband and I started watching The Joy of Painting when it began in 1983. We had no idea it had just begun. We were a young married couple having married in 1983! He has always been amazing to watch and listen to! Thank you Bob Ross! Shame on the Kowalskis!!
Kowalskis, the name that is covered in shame
I said his wet paintings,Bob Ross was breathtaking and it was one of a kind
I enjoyed watching both Bill Alexander and Bob Ross paint on PBS. I don't understand the need for jealousy. Bill's accent was part of his charm in my eyes. Oh well. That's so sad.
I loved this person. Always made you feel like he was in the same room talking to you about painting and the useful techniques you can apply to your canvas. Aloha!
But I got close to how he did his paintings, and got very detailed using other techniques. So when my art teacher in 1st grade convinced me to compete in a NY state art competition themed with the statue of liberty. How about this poor kid from a town most never heard of, won first place. Thanks Bob Ross.
He died because of being around all of that paint and paint thinner. I always loved it at the end of his show he would always say and God bless you my friend
He died because he smoked cigarettes like a freight train.. it had nothing to do with the paint..😳🤦🏻♂️🎨
Really...
Exactly, I used to use oil paint and always felt really ill afterwards
He died from lymphoma.
Always wondered that myself..figured all those fumes and chemicals couldn't be good.
I’ve never even tried to paint, but I have watched Bob Ross since the early 90’s. I enjoy watching him enjoy painting. ❤
Love watching him. I watch some episodes many times.
