@@timetheory84 I agree! How magnanimous of them to agree to letting them see each other sometimes! Maybe even an occasional day pass? Who does that!? I just hope that the boys don’t experience more difficulties because of those adopted parents keeping them apart when they get older. It is so damaging to siblings who are separated from each other, ESPECIALLY when they’ve experienced a shared trauma. I’m also stunned by how long that little guy was shuffled around in foster care but he still jut wants love and a family.

It happens often when one sibling is disruptive. Allowing them to keep in touch often creates disruptions in the home of the sibling already adopted and can even disrupt the adoption placement. It's hard to understand but they often can have really disruptive influence over the other sibling. That's why often they have difficulties finding a home to adopt siblings together, especially if one or both have disruptive behaviors.

I can't imagine his pain when he heard his brother was being adopted and they had to live apart. I know that it must be difficult to find a couple willing to take on 2 siblings but they do exist. To pull these two apart like puppies being picked from the litter is disgusting and disgraceful. He must have cried his eyes out knowing his brother got a Mom and Dad and he was left behind. Heartbreaking. I pray he finds someone who will love and care for him the way he deserves. I don't know what happened to his parents but being all alone in this world is hard and so I pray God shows him mercy and grace and sends the right person or persons to be his Mom and Dad, or just his Mom or a Dad... he doesn't really care. He just wants to know he's loved.

Yes! At seven yrs old my husband's mother took his three sisters but left him to raise himself in a shed behind the house. No details here ... but that is pain that doesn't go away (not yet in 65+ yrs). & No, when time came for us to finally get a pup (instead of dogs finding us for 30+ yrs) we didn't separate siblings. A little human projection but we work around the brain glitches.

@@officiallyjess5291 I couldn't agree more. I know they said he had special needs but if that was the case they should have waited to place both boys with the right family. I think his brothers' new parents were working to divide them further because when I did a little more research on him they said he'd only seen his brother a few times in a year and a half. I blame the state agency that placed his brother because they should have been more compassionate. I know they were both in Foster care for at least 4 years without a steady, loving family, but they had one another and that made them happy. They said a lot of people contacted them after this aired and they were going through them all to find the right family, but they also said more than 200 applicants pulled out once they found out he had special needs. I am praying for that precious child. I hope he finds the family he deserves soon.

I am AMAZED that the foster system is still so poorly run. I am 83 years old , I was in the foster system when I was 18 months old until the age of 6. It's still a rotten program. The abuse and neglect is still
Alll a child gets. The people who adopted the boy and basically just though his brother aside are more then likely involved in that system so have no true concern for the children. I feel the system should have stepped in and not allowed it. Shame on them all.

I know a family that were about to adopt a child and had several kids already. Once they were told the issues with the child, they chose not to adopt because they had to think of their kids they had currently. I several foster families that the child was in, the child was hurting other kids and pets, in um... multiple gross ways and told doctors they "would never stop and are learning how to do it secretly and get the kids to stop telling on them".......
I wish it was just as easy to just scoop these kids up! I would adopt kids if it was easier but we do have *5 boys* already and we have to think of them first, but we are always open to adopting if that day comes. Or even to foster.

They won't but idk where you're getting that info from we barely discussed them in the video. Siblings are split up and adopted separately all the time. It's sad but it's common. Too few kids would get adopted if the foster system required every pair of siblings to go together. As much as I don't get only adopting one sibling I also don't do foster care or have I ever adopted. Jordan's brothers family did more for a kid then I did. At least they helped one kid

Since it was only after disclosure I'm assuming something that happened to him turned ppl off. Some families aren't equip to deal with certain degrees of issues and disclosure can be incredibly disturbing. Sometimes it is worse for siblings to be together because they remind each other of the trama and it can ignite their behaviour. Years ago when my kids were very young, I was talking to a social worker about becoming a foster family for a child that may have behavioral health issues. It was something I really wanted to do, and being home raising my kids at the time I knew I had the time to spend to be there all of the time.
As we were discussing our options, I unfortunately became very sick with chronic health issues and in the hospital for over 6 mos initially, having multiple surgeries to save my life. Many years later (my kids are all teens now) I’m still dealing with these major health issues, and unfortunately have not had the time or space to be able to still foster anyone. I am still pretty young, 36, and have been working hard with my specialists and on immunosuppressive treatments for my ongoing chronic health problems, visiting nurses, etc. I still work hard towards getting my life back and healthier, stronger for as long as can at a time.
I hope to one day be in remission for a long enough period to be able to again look into fostering/adopting children/teens who need a home and/or loving family, it is important I am stable long term before that would be an option, since I wouldn’t want to bring further trauma/ unstableness to their lives if I was to get sick again while anyone was with me. I just know that I have a lot of love and patience to give, and having to deal with juvenile detention/foster homes when I was a young teen myself, I have spoken extensively to many people about growing up in foster care, and seen the good and bad sides of this personally, I understand that believing in someone, giving/building trust, offering stability, having hope for their futures and building genuine love and connections with these kids is most important, wanting to still be there for them even when they push you away, it can be heartbreaking and frustrating, but so sry worth it. Everyone has a story and history if you take the time to talk to them honestly and learn where they’ve been, it can change yours and their lives for the better. Giving more chances when most people would’ve already given up is not an easy thing to ask, but when done is worth it. These kids have so much spirit, brains, humor, love to share, when given the opportunity. Also fostering and adoption is not just until these kids/young adults are 18, there are so many kids who age out of fostercare/adoption and have to start college/work/life with little to no support emotionally mentally financially. It’s heartbreaking some of the cases I’ve seen, and how many Ive spoken to who try so hard to be super helpful and take as little time/space as possible at a home hoping they won’t be a bother and be able to stay there for as long as possible, and afraid to open up or let out frustration in fear of being moved again (which when bottled up comes out in other ways, such as cutting, and other self harm and/or various mental and behavioral issues)
Idk where I’m going with all of this, it’s pretty long already, and I wasn’t planning to share this much-
I have in the past and plan to again volunteer helping some of these kids, tutoring, donating, resources, mentoring and in other ways.
I just hope someone might read this who has been either in fostercare or has fostered/is currently or looking into fostering anyone in the future, and know they are very much needed and appreciated and worth so much more than they’ve been given, no matter what they’ve been through/are currently going through, no matter the trouble they’ve been in there is always hope. We need more good and caring people to foster and adopt, the amount of abuse that goes on is immense and immeasurable (sexual, physical, mental, emotional, etc) and if you can be a positive person in someone’s life, and help in any way that you can, it is very much needed and wanted. We are all worthy of love and having meaningful relationships of all types, and are all constantly growing and learning as people our whole lives, and there are many types of intelligence to offer yourself and someone else, including emotional. Please don’t ever feel like you aren’t adequate to receive love and friendship and family, no matter how much or little of it you’ve experienced, we can all benefit from learning and growing through new experiences and knowledge..

No... really... you want the appropriate family per individual child. He may have intellectual differences and often parents, regardless of adoptive or birth, if you’re uninformed, under educated, lacking patience, understanding, time, resources, these children suffer all the more. And they’re already at higher risks for depression, drug & alcohol abuse & suicide. The tragedy is is that we haven’t normalized anything outside of typically abled people, cater to primarily typically abled people & resources for divergent people are extremely difficult to find. Having a family that’s knowledgeable & has the capacity is the most important affecting thing.
