He'll always be considered one of THE greatest country artists of all time in my opinion. A life cut short by his own hand and demons.

Whitley's alcoholism was known through much of the country music community, and after he married Lorrie Morgan, she tried to help the singer overcome his addiction. The news of Whitley's death on May 9, 1989, shook the country world, especially when the cause of death was discovered to be his alcohol dependency. His song is a singer now. He sometimes sings with his mother Lorrie Morgan. Vince Gill started to write a song about his death but couldn't finish it until Vince's brother passed away

Another good ole Kentucky boy.. He was born and raised not far from where Chris Stapleton was, He was born in Ashland Kentucky, grew up in Sandy Hook, maybe 45 minutes from Staffordsville where Chris was raised.. A lot of talent in these hills!!

My brother lived in an old farmhouse, rode his motorcycle into t he kitchen every night or it would have been stolen. Keith and his wife Lorrie Morgan were great together. look them up

I’m not sure if you have been made aware of the fact that this man is who Vince Gill was singing about when he wrote Go Rest High on That Mountain. He references my personal all time favorite song which is titled I’m No Stranger To The Rain. Also would be a shame not to visit the duet version of this song with Allison Krauss. Who I would best describe as the female equivalent of Vince Gill.

I was never a country music fan, but my mother enjoyed Keith Whitley. I always saw him as a waste of talent. How do you literally drink yourself to death? I dont feel sorry for him but I do feel sorry for the family he left behind. So sad.....
