They don’t call him the King of country for no reason! I hope you do more of him. This song came out 40 yrs ago and it still so good! There’s 61 #1 hits for you to listen to from this man!
Love the hair style! George Strait is known for the style called "Texas Swing", that's what the flow that you were enjoying so much was. It was popularized WAAAY back in the day by Bob Wills and then in the 80's George Strait brought it to new heights with songs like this. As for the type of story here... I recommend "Hello, Darlin'" by Conway Twitty. You wanna talk about swooning?
And I always love to point out what a good looking man George is!! From my home state of TX, we are SO proud of him! Please go down the rabbit hole of George Strait! I'd also like to point out that George was singing around bars around the San Marcos/Austin area - when the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo came in 82, Eddie Rabbitt was scheduled to appear, but got sick. They had 4 hours to find a fill-in and got George to go on stage. His career took off that night (I know because I was there!). Make Mine STRAIT!
The scary thing with George is.... IF you only reacted to his number ones songs... you would have to record 6 hours of video at 10 mins each... he can't even sing all his number ones during one concert... :) so awesome...
“When Did You Stop Loving Me”, Nobody In His Right Mind Would’ve Left Her”, “I’d Like To Have That One Back”, “So Much Line My Dad”, “Fire I Can’t Put Out”. List list goes on and on.
In my 70's, country has always been my life, I can listen to the Bee Gees to Phil Collins but when I want to Feel Warm, Free and Grounded, No Music can do that better than country.
The power of King George. I followed George all over, dancehall to dancehall, before his big break. Throughout all, now in this 60’s, George is the same today as he was then….And still sexy as hell. And Britt! A real Cowboy!
You were right in your observations. Jamie Foxx did the same song in front of George with an R&B twist. The closest we ever came to having Elvis again is George. He sticks with C&W though --not other genres. He has been at the top of the heap for ages. His singing voice is a wonderful instrument. Listen and watch him do "The Chair" sometime.
My husband and I went to his concert in November 2020, he sounds just as amazing today! We went to Alan Jackson in August 2021, he still sounds good as well! 2 legends of my time!
You are correct Britt! Nobody had the girls losing it like George Strait back in the day lol…….but that don’t take away from the fact that he was/is an incredible singer & entertainer. One of the best ever! Thanks for the reactions hun ✌️❤
The Chair The Man In Love With You Check Yes Or No I Cross My Heart Write This Down Love Without End, Amen I Just Want To Dance With You There are literally DOZENS of George Strait songs that will either put a tear in your eye, a smile on your face, or a swoon in your head. You really should dig into King George!
Ahhh, my first love, Mr. George Strait. To see him sing this live at the Astrodome/Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo back in the day. The way he'd look into the camera and do the speaking part, every woman in the place felt like he was singing right to them alone. King George. It just doesn't get any better. As for your R&B comment, years after this, there was a tribute to George where Jamie Foxx sang this (both Texas boys) and it was so, so good. Check it out.
I remember an interview with Garth Brooks where he mentioned opening for George Straight. He said they really didn't do much when he introduced himself, but when George came out, all he did was smile and he crowd went freaking nuts 😅
My favorites from King George are So Much Like My Dad; I Cross My Heart; You Look So Good In Love; Love Without End, Amen; Carrying Your Love With Me; The Cowboy Rides Away; What’s Going On In Your World; Today My World Slipped Away; When Did You Stop Loving Me; I’d Like To Have That One Back; The Best Day; and I Know She Still Loves Me.
When I saw him at the Houston Livestock Show, the women brought him single red roses in a constant steady stream. By the end of the concert, there were THOUSANDS of roses up there.
I love your review, George Strait is my all time favorite country music singer, he's got that country voice. My all time favorite song is "I Cross My Heart". Gawd, I have that song stuck in my head a lot and I have to force myself to think of other music lol. Love your review, great job!
I have waltzed around the dance floor quite a few times to this song. George is the greatest. Another country singer that I think you would love is Vince Gill. Try listening to his "When I Call Your Name."
Hi again Britt, wish my wife was still alive, so many George strait songs we loved, he was her favorite. Some songs were deep for us, and so many are just great. When youngest daughters fiance broke up they eventually got back together, she knew this song and played it with him even at wedding couple years later, they are still married. Go George, some songs can just see. Wife and I had cross my heart, and carried away, so many more, armadillo... Was George strait songs, sang with randy Jackson on the cowboy rides away tour.. he was a heartthrob to women but married to same woman 48+yrs? After wife died, my dad died, when I hear the cowboy rides away I cry like a newborn baby slapped on ass and head, can you please do the cowboy rides away 🙏, tyvm tc
When I married for the 2nd time, my husband told me that he could almost picture my ex singing this song. I was married to my first for 24 hard years but my late husband (my 2nd love) used to take me dancing and we would waltz to this song. I can't hear it now without bursting into tears as both my husbands are gone now! I'm still waiting for you to react to I Cross My Heart!!
First time I saw George sing was in a large barn with a dirt floor. Had no idea who he was but my friend had heard him down around San Antonio. She kept talking about him. After hearing him myself, I was hooked for life. His first hit came out shortly after that.

King George! One of the very few real cowboys in Country music.
My mom had 3 favs... Conway Twitty, Elvis and KING GEORGE... and a close Kenny Rogers
As a father, his "love without end, amen" is epic
As a father another underrated but great song is "best days"
They don’t call him the King of country for no reason! I hope you do more of him.

George is a real life Cowboy. Born and raised in Texas. He competed in rodeo in the calf roping. He lives on a working ranch south of San Antonio.
George strait is one of the greats when it comes to REAL country music.
One of George’s upbeat songs with humorous lyrics is “The Fireman”. I love it and think you will enjoy it also!

3/4 time (waltz) beat has both a romantic effect, but is so easy to dance to... a waltz will fill a honky tonk dance hall in a heart beat.
