The Cowboy Rides Away: Live from AT&T Stadium is a live album released by George Strait in 2014. The title refers to the fact that this concert was the final performance of his final tour "The Cowboy Rides Away Tour" on June 7, 2014 in Arlington, Texas. 104,793 people were in attendance, the largest ever single-show attendance at a U.S. stadium. An all-star lineup joined Strait on stage.
King George. Doesn't need a huge production, dancers, pyrotechnics, just him, his guitar and a microphone. That is George Strait, pure country, pure talent.
@@daleb1279 Definitely autotune. The big giveaway is the way it sounds when he changes vocal notes. It's almost robotic sounding. You can hear an example of it in Disturb's "Sound of Silence" performance on Conan.. Or in Jelly Roll's song called "Save Me".
This was his Farewell Tour… one of his last tour concerts. The other ladies are country stars Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Faith Hill and then Sheryl Crow . They all respect King George very much.
Yes, they are artists! From L to R: Sheryl Crow, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride and Faith Hill. My favorite was his duet with Miranda Lambert to How Bout Them Cowgirls.
The song is drawing a parrallel between his realtionship and a western movie, where quite often the hero of the story "rides off into the sunset." It even says, 'as the "credits roll", a sad song starts to play, this is where the cowboy rides away.'
The artists on stage with George all were opening acts for him when they first got their respective starts. I've seen George several times over the years and I saw Martina and Maranda open for him when they first started out. Great shows!!!
I’ve seen him several times. I remember before the revolving stage, I saw him in the round. The stage was square and he’d move every few songs to each side of the stage. He’d play a couple songs then move to the next side and on and on. He puts on an amazing show and doesn’t need anything but a mic and a great song. All King George does is stand there in his creased Wranglers, cowboy shirt, boots, and hat and burn the house down. Pure Country and pure talent. ♥️♥️
Yea this was basically suppose to be his "farewell" to major touring. Those other stars being there shows the amount of respect and love other artist have for him. George was in his 60s then
I was living in Texas when Dallas Cowboy's Quarterback Troy Aikman announced his retirement. My favorite radio station followed the announcement with George singing this song. I cried!
This is when he stopped touring for a year or so. It was kind of like a farewell concert and thats why all those other singers are there. Yes thats Alan Jackson.
In a lot of western movies at the end of the movie. The last scene of a movie is the cowboy (the star of the movie) Rides away on his horse! This was George Strait last tour date, he does shows every now and then!
You are ALWAYS one of my favorite reaction channels. But this is the KINGS final tour. A 60!!!!! time #1 country chart toppers final go around. Not enough respect for this man. 60 number 1 singles. No one has ever done that. No one ever more deserving. Keep up the great work Britt.
I absolutely love the Brooks and Dunn performance of this song, when they performed it on a special live show that was honoring George Strait. Theirs is probably my favorite. Though both are great.
Miranda Lambert singing "Tin Man" will blow you away. The 2017 ACM Performance is a must. Just a girl and her guitar. And yes, Tin Man is a play on the Wizzard Of Oz. If Tin Man just knew how badly a heart hurts when broken
Nice Reaction Britt!!! George is like...the most revered, loved, appreciated true Texas Country Western Music singer. His music and his life are held in the highest regard by many people.
My favorites from King George are So Much Like My Dad; I Cross My Heart; You Look So Good In Love; Love Without End, Amen; Carrying Your Love With Me; The Cowboy Rides Away; What’s Going On In Your World; Today My World Slipped Away; When Did You Stop Loving Me; I’d Like To Have That One Back; The Best Day; and I Know She Still Loves Me.
I have seen George Strait 2 times in 2 different venues, neither had a revolving stage. However, revolving stages were a BIG thing in the late 70's, George like me is old enough to remember them. As you said, in large stadium venues, a revolving stage allows for the sale of all the seats, even those that would be behind the stage. George Strait did all day long concerts with 10 or 12 other big name artists. Both times I saw him they were concerts that started at noon and George Strait came on last and finished about 10 pm.
That was his retirement from majors tours. He does shows here and there, but not big tours. Those behind him were country icons showing support for George Strait because he was such a influential person in country music.
That was supposed to be his farewell tour dubbed " The Cowboy Rides Away" Tour. I saw him with Martina in Newark,NJ for it. King George is my favorite all time
George has videos from his “live at the astrodome” concert. The stage was in the middle of the arena and it slowly turned so all the guests got to see him directly.
We saw George and Kacey Musgraves together at T-Mobile Arena in Vegas a few years back. It was a great show. Thank goodness for the big screens behind them and all the cameras.
This was a great show where George, was about to retire and all the model's as you called them was all country singers Faith Hill, Miranda Lambert, and lot's of other 's, yes they were all singer's
Each concert date he had the “ backup singers” open for him. They are wonderful singers on their own. I was blessed to see him on his farewell tour and Vince Gill opened for him. This song was the last song he preformed at the end of the night. You should listen to “ I’ll always remember you” it was wrote for his fans and when he sang that song I just cried like a baby from the emotions of that was a dream come true to see him preform live and it was also his goodbye song. Please give it a whirl.
We played this song at my dad's funeral in 2015. He was always a cowboy whether he was still working on a ranch, riding saddle broncs in a rodeo, breeding quarterhorses, riding on a trailride or driving a semi.
George Strait has never changed. Decades of country music, 4 decades or so and he's kept it traditional the entire time, at a time where country music has been on life support. So he's basically the compass on the ship. He's also, I don't think EVER been caught up in controversy...and the guy is a billionaire...well probably. No one knows because he's not flashy. He sings and ranches, that's it. Very loved and respected.
Mrs Britt that what I love about your channel , you always look into these song with such detail , and for me it's so appreciated.. you got us a Friday Fact , I hope so I enjoy those so much .. Thanks Young Lady ..
Great reaction love! This was at the Houston rodeo, he played here every year. The astrodome had the revolving stage, seating all around. They would bring the stage out after the rodeo events each day & a different singer/group would perform each night on the stage. This may have been one of the last rodeos in the Astrodome before they shut it (and Astroworld) down. Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Miranda Lambert, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, maybe Cheryl Crow(?)would've most likely been there, probably many more. I used to go to several performances a year. It's all been shut down almost 20 years now - the Astrodome was called the 7th wonder of the wold. The day they shut these down - Astroworld (2005) and the Astrodome (2008) was a heartbreak for all of us that grew up here, and a landmark in history that would forever change the Houston Rodeo (worlds largest) & it's concerts.
@@JennyJohn50 That’s no problem. I think this concert in Dallas is the first time he ever had the rotating stage outside of Houston. I’ve seen him several times in Dallas and Waco but I never seen the rotating stage at any of the shows other than in Houston when I would watch it on tv in the astrodome days
Love George Strait! Country artists Faith Hill and her husband Tim McGraw have some beautiful duets highly recommend: Speak To the Girl, I Need You, and The Rest of Our Life. They melt your heart 💕
There are venues with revolving stages. Here in Phoenix the stage at the Celebrity Theatre revolves and it's a smaller venue so the concerts are always awesome.
George Strait always ended his concerts with "This Is Where The Cowboy Rides Away". He didn't perform on any revolving stage in the four times I saw him in concert back in the 1990s. This was his "Fairwell" Concert". But, he still performs a few times a year. Revolving stages are great, I saw a "Jefferson Airplane "concert on on in the Spring of 1968. Everyone was there to say "Goodbye" to his touring concert career.
This wasn't really his last concert but he did retire from major touring. All of those behind him were all top country artist along with Sheryl Crow. He is looked up to and respected probably the most of any country artist ever! King George is truly amazing!

I was not at this concert, but talking to people who were at his final concert. I'm guessing this is the concert that broke the attendance record for most people at an indoor concert. I vaguely remember reading about it on Wikipedia.. I think it was at the AT&T stadium, during this farewell tour/concert.
I’ve been to many George Strait concerts and he just doesn’t use a revolving stage. In Las Vegas he moves around to each side of the stage so everybody has a chance to see him.
This was the final concert of his farewell tour, he retired from touring to spend time with his grandchildren. All of those artists performed with him for the final concert. Jason Aldean, Eric Church, Vince Gill, Alan Jackson, Sheryl Crow, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, and Faith Hill. He is actually touring again on a limited basis, I was lucky enough to be able to go see him last year at the 90th anniversary Houston Rodeo. A few songs of his I highly recommend are Write This Down, She'll Leave You With A Smile, and Troubadour. All are amazing and really show off his storytelling and vocal ability.
George Strait holds the record for most number one songs on all charts by an artist in any genre and has sold more than 120 million records worldwide. This in includes 13 multi-platinum, 33 platinum, and 38 gold albums. He also holds the record for most number-one albums and singles, gold albums, platinum albums, and multiplatinum albums in the history of country music, and is 11th in the most number-one albums in all other genres. Strait is third only to Elvis Presley and The Beatles with the most gold and platinum albums in the history of music.
I dunno if the revolving stage is the way he does things as the norm, but it is a very considerate and clever thing for a person who stands in one place or sits at a piano to do. 🥰 Probably how he would consider he had to do on a stadium tour. ❤
Just looked up if King George is still doing concerts... He playing 2 nights in July in Nashville at the Nissan Stadium. Ticket prices range from $380 to almost $1500 EACH!!!

Apparently "the king" needs autotune, for some reason. Lol
