Haunting - affecting, emotive, evocative, expressive, moving and touching.
I am from London UK and a big fan of Garth Brooks and got into his music due to him covering a song called Shameless by Billy Joel, because I am a fan of his too.
This then led to hearing the voice during harmony vocals by Trisha Yearwood on Garth's version of Shameless (they are married now) and so I looked into Trisha's music too and she has an outstanding voice.
And as a final tie in, all of Billy, Garth and Trisha have recoded versions of Bob Dylan's song To Make You Feel My Love.

I believe the actual music video for this song includes footage of JFK, martin Luther King, Jr., and the astronauts that died in the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster. People who's lives were taken too soon. He has said this song is to be played at his funeral.

When my son was still living, (he was handicapped) he asked me if I ever wished he had never been born. I told him about this song and explained how I could have missed the pain, I would have missed the dance. He just smiled and said ok. Now, when I am at a low point, hand to God, this song comes on the radio and I just smile and find great peace. I really enjoy your channel. You might want to listen to Diamond Rio's I Believe and God only Cries for the living.

when I was 26 my Dad passed from cancer, I had moved back home and helped take care of him his last 6 months alive. His last 4 days in hospital I stayed in His room with him almost non stop and awake almost the whole 4 days til he passed. When leaving the hospital parking lot and driving home this song starting playing on the radio just after pulling out..always held a lot of meaning to me about my Dad since.

Garth Brooks went to high school with my ex husband's mom. She said he was a dork that carried his guitar everywhere but that even she will admit that he completely changed country music and opened it up to the world. He is also considered the best showman in country music.

I met my 2nd grandson around May 23rd of 2003. He was 5 weeks old. When I held him, a deep sense of love overcame me and I cried and cried. The connection was one which I had never felt. They left to go back to Tennessee a few days later. On June 12th of 2003, he died from S.I.D.S. It was the most devastating thing I had ever been through to date. This song has always been my go to song since his death. It reminds me that I was blessed to hold him if but only for a few minutes.

Tony Arata wrote "The Dance". One night at the Blue Bird Cafe, Garth was there and heard Tony sign this song. Now neither of them had been discovered and when Tony finished the song, Garth went up to him and said that if he ever got a record deal he would record Tonys song. The rest is history for the both of them. They remain great friends to this day...

Garth almost didn’t cut this song back in ‘89. The album was almost finished and Allen Reynolds, Garth’s record producer at the time, was like: “Why haven’t we cut ‘The Dance’ yet?” And Garth was like: “I don’t think it’s country enough.” And Allen says: “Pal..” In the music biz, they always used the word ‘pal’. “If you don’t cut ‘The Dance,’ if you don’t cut that song, it’ll be the biggest hit you never had.”

I can't share much of the journey / friendship right now. One of my best friends, Jacque battled cancer for the last five years. The last 8 weeks I had to pick her up and carry to her wheel chair, help her stand in the bathroom, things she hated but was grateful I was willing to help her with. I started to tease her that after all this time she finally would dance with me as we took stutter steps to and from the bed, chair, toilet, or her lift chair. She feared it was too much and we would fall. I swore to her I would never let that happen, I would never drop her. On the 14th at 6:30 she was struggling I asked if she needed to go to the ER ... a pause .. yes ... I said okay we need to get you dressed ... shockingly she said she didn't care about putting pants on. We got to the ER, I helped her stand and they picked her up and placed her on the bed in the ER. I thanked for yet another dance. 7 hours later after settling her in ICU they told her sister she wasn't expected to leave ICU ... her sister called me before calling the family. Two days later she asked me to find a last gift to her sister, she accepted her fate with dignity and grace. As she always did she put others first ... their bond was special ... asking to find something for her to give was an honor with a lot of responsibility. On Tuesday the 20th I delivered and had to help her give it as she was too weak to lift the package. I shared a few special words with her, told her I would see her soon ... watched a tear form and she closed her eyes feigning sleep. I realize now she couldn't watch me leave the room. I was honored to be called her friend, even more so to be one of the 24/7 care givers. She kept saying she hated being a burden, every time I told her honestly it was an honor. I couldn't look back, I was hoping to see her the next day but feared I wouldn't. 7:15 the next morning her sister called she had passed after finally falling asleep after a very rough night. I'm still in a bit of shock but damn straight I wouldn't of wanted to miss the dance with her. My message to everyone ... EMBRACE THE DANCE it may not always be fun, but every second is worth it, IT IS LIFE!

Garth Brooks basically created Stadium Country. He’s the first country artist who produced his concerts like a pop/rock show. He had pyrotechnics, rain, and a show unlike any other seen in the genre. He created the giant show that’s now a stadium country concert staple. He was a true innovator in business as well as in music.

I worked in a Children's Hospital. You would get close to some of the families. If the child passed, often you were invited to the memorial. Like you said, The Dance was played at almost every one. It got so when I would hear the piano as the intro, I would get goosebumps, followed by crying. If I'm driving and this song comes on the radio, often I have to pull over and cry, thinking of the kids. I think the dance is life. The lines about could have missed the pain, but I'd have to miss the dance. I think the kids I worked with would never choose pain, but they have to in order to experience life. They fight to experience life.

This song hits me in the heart. In 2020 I lost my husband of over 30 years. This song eases the pain by making me realize that even though "I could've missed the pain", "I'd of had to miss the dance" (a metaphor of our life). As hard as the loss has been, I wouldn't change a thing and "I'm glad I didn't know how it all would end". We Lived, we Loved and it was wonderful and free. Live each day fully and be present, we're all on limited time.

Great Era in Country music with so many household names coming on the scene and timeless classics. Definitely has a different feel than Country from the 50s, 60s, and 70s which is fantastic too. You know Country music is often referred to as Two Chords and the Truth. Its always great songwriting, sung with soul and passion with great messages that stay with you. Often great life advise.

Hey guys. This is from his debut album " Garth Brooks" in 1989. He would turn country music 🎶 on it's head! He did and sang stuff and did stuff that nobody else was doing at the time. He has won entertainer of the year numerous times, broke sales records, attendance records, and puts on a show like nobody's business!! I've been lucky enough to have seen him twice. In 1989 and again in 1994 or 5 here in AZ. He is the most down to earth guy you'll probably ever meet. He is considered a legend. Glad you are checking him out. Love for the moment for the time we may come when you miss that person and they’re no longer with you. Love with all you might all your heart.

Honestly the "you don't like country but still like Garth Brooks" thing is legit. In '97 he played in Central park with an attendance of over 1 million people. He was honestly the biggest artist in the world for a time.

Hmm, those of us who are serious country music fans put Garth low on our list. He ain't no Alan Jackson, George Straight, Merle Haggard or Vern Gossdin. We wouldn't know him at all if it weren't for "Friends in low places" that someone else wrote.

That's because many people have no taste. He tried to change to rock like Taylor swift and made a fool of himself. I like some of his songs, but I don't care for his voice. But, then again, I lean more towards bluegrass, and I love the older country artist who have kept country, country.

    • @TheSyncos
      @TheSyncos 11 месяцев назад +3

@@janethunter8741 Just let people like what they like. "The world has bad taste because a multi-platnum artist isn't what I like." C'mon now. He's always kinda been pop-country, and that's fine. Don't yuck other peoples yum.

@@TheSyncos it's a free country but country music is struggling to stay country and that's a shame because pure country is poetic and beautiful. ALL the synthetic accompaniment is really taking away from its beauty. There are very few musicians today who stick to guitar, fiddle, mandolin, even banjo and piano and go with sound tracks. Garth Brooks has just left a bad taste in true country music fans mouths. You can listen to whomever you want but we need to fight for pure country. It's not just music. It's a heritage.

I attended my first Garth concert in December 1992 on the "due date' of my first child. Our tickets were general admission and three hours on the floor was brutal, but I wouldn't have changed a thing. My second Garth concert was @Neyland Stadium in January (?). Our seats were on the top level and it was SO COLD! The show was unbelievably awesome!!! My niece is not a fan of country music, but kept saying "Wow, I had no idea! "

I only started listening to country music because it was the only station I could get in the building where I worked. My brother was a Garth Brooks fanatic and I did not understand why. Then I saw Garth perform one of his songs live on an awards show. Totally changed my prospective. I have never been to one of this concerts but love to watch his live performances.

It wasnt until weeks later that I realized my mistake and this song haunts me. Every time I hear it I cry for my mistake. The way I've always understood the link between haunt/haunted and hauntingly is that for an emotional verb to be 'hauntingly'... it 'sticks with you with or without your agreement'... the way a house or an item would be haunted by a ghost. This song or other sad thoughts would apply because we may not WANT to be sad or feel something deeply, but something about it (the beauty, the music, the prose, the recognition of common experience), makes you.

When the original video came out it had clips and images of people like John F Kennedy, Martin Luther King, John Lennon, the crew boarding the spaceship Challenger before it blew up. You are probably too young to remember that. Kristie McAuliffe was a teacher chosen to fly on the Challenger and it blew up 73 seconds into the launch and all 7 crew members were killed.. I still remember that day. Would all these folks have changed anything if they would have known how it all would end? I have been on a deep dive into your channel watching all your country music reactions in one night. Glad to see someone enjoying what country music is all about.

The actual video of this brings more clarity. It has images of the astronauts who died. Martin Luther King and many others who have sadly passed. I’ve told my family that when it’s my time I want this played at my funeral. At the end of the video he voiced these words…..you know I’ve never compared myself to the folks in this video but god forbid if I should leave this world unexpectedly I hope they play the dance for me because you see that’s it, I could of missed the pain but I’d of missed the dance and I wouldn’t miss this for the world!
