Alabama is one of if not the greatest country groups ever. In my opinion. The group is all cousins except for the drummer who is a close childhood friend of all of theirs.
Alabama is an American country music band formed in Fort Payne, Alabama, in 1969. The band was founded by Randy Owen (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) and his cousin Teddy Gentry (bass, backing vocals). They were soon joined by another cousin, Jeff Cook (lead guitar, fiddle, and keyboards). First operating under the name Wildcountry, the group toured the Southeast bar circuit in the early 1970s, and began writing original songs. They changed their name to Alabama in 1977 and following the chart success of two singles, were approached by RCA Records for a recording deal.
Alabama is a legendary group with a huge fan base and decades of hits. Also, not to be missed, their Christmas song, Christmas in Dixie which as older men now, they performed with our boys from Home Free for their Christmas special. An amazing collaboration and their lead singer Randy still sounds as clear as he ever did.
Biggest crush of my life was Randy Owen!! I remember watching the country music awards way back then, waiting to hear who won entertainer of the year and it was Alabama!!! I leaped up off the couch and did a major happy dance! Lol
I'd give this 1000 likes if I could.you don't need to Induct them, they are the owners of the club, girl.they were everything in the 80s and 90s.the best country group ever!they been had a string of 22 no. 1 hits and have over 40 total.their harmonies are perfect and their musicianship is savory and unique.I never never never never never tire of alabama.they are the GOATS!
Alabama started in 1969 but had their biggest success in the 80's, where the band had over 27 number one hits, seven multi-platinum albums & received numerous awards. The band blends traditional country music & Southern rock combined with elements of bluegrass, folk, gospel & pop music. Some of their most famous songs are "Tennessee River", "Love In The First Degree", "Mountain Music", "Dixieland Delight" "If You're Gonna Play in Texas (You Gotta Have A Fiddle In The Band)", "Song Of The South" etc.
This old man in NC is happy to sit here and share this with u.They played in Myrtle Beach for a few years when they first started. And yeah the girls were crazy about Randy.
Alabama has always been, and will always be my favorite country group. These guys had the music I sang to while driving down the backroads in my home state of Tennessee. Still do.
I first heard Alabama when I was a kid in high school back in the late seventies. At that time they went by the name "Wild Country" I snuck out at from a school event and went to a local club in Ft. Payne Alabama to just get away with it. They were performing at that club. I was shocked to hear a local band that was so tight! Later one of my neighbors married Jeff Cook the lead guitarist who recently passed. The warm and heartfelt melodies performed by the Band Alabama is the reason they are so endeared by millions today. They were truly a super band during their times reaching high points on all the charts with their award winning hits. Their music brings back such warm fond memories of my youth. Thanks for reviewing this song!
Alabama was formed by guitarists Randy Owen and Jeff Cook, and bassist Teddy Gentry, three cousins born and raised near Fort Payne, Alabama, they changed their name from "Wild Country" to "Alabama" in 1977. Jeff Cook passed away November 7, 2022. They have charted 43 #1 singles including 21 #1 singles in a row
My Dad was a singer-songwriter in the 70s and 80s. I grew up on country music, rock, southern rock, soul, you name it. Alabama was played on every jukebox, and every band covered their songs. They are the quintessential country band.
Thanks much. Another song they did was 'Old Flame Burning in Your Heart. Had an old girlfriend from back in '65' send me that song a few years ago. Brought back memories,,, and knowing I still rank high on her list after 55 years.
To say Alabama was huge when I was in high school is an understatement. Every party and dance they would be played over and over again, especially this song. A great song to slow dance and polish your belt buckle to. Anyone with a tape deck would have their tapes blasting in their cars and trucks. And of course, all the girls were in love with them all.
First time I saw Alabama live was in 1980 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. There were many well known top country artists performing on stage that day, particularly the Gatlin Bros. who just had their new hit All The Gold in California just come out, but although relatively a new band, Alabama were the star performers to 100,000 screaming fans that day. I recall saying to my wife that Alabama will be like the Beatles of country music. They went on to completely dominate the country band genre during the 80s and 90s, with multiple Entertainer of the Year Awards in Country Music. Randy Owen, during his prime, would definitely be in your panty dropper gang.
Alabama had SO MANY hit songs and they bring back so many memories of my junior high and high school years in the eighties ❤️❤️ Dixieland Delight, 40 Hour Week, Mountain Music & Love In The First Degree are some of my favorites ❤ Check them out someday
You do some very god reviews; keep up the awesome work. Alabama is one of my favorite bands; I started listening to the in the early 80's (yes I am old); then while driving OTR (trucking) I had the opportunity to go to the June Jam in Fort Payne AL; this was a two day concert (sometimes 3) with a lot of bands and one hell of a party (for a dry county) that was a blast, seeing them perform in person and then met them was a once in a lifetime treasure. I will always love listening to there music; I still have records with their old music.
Alabama is the best country band of all time. They have a long list of PD songs like this and more upbeat songs like Tennessee River, Mountain Music, 40 hour week etc.
Welcome to sweet home Alabama darling, so happy you found my boys. This band consists of 3 Alabama cousin's and a drummer from New York . Their Playlist is phenomenal.
Britt, Back in the day these guys ruled Country-Western music. Hit after hit... They were giants!!! They won several awards for their work! I am glad you enjoyed their work...
I am so excited, that you have discovered Alabama!! When you talk about the true, GREATEST of all time country groups....It. Is. ALABAMA!!!! I cant wait for you to go down this rabbit hole. They have more #1 hits and more awards, than any other. You will not be disappointed.
The best concert I ever attended was in 1983 in my Hometown of Wilmington. Nc. It was the Azalea Festival. and Alabama was the warm up act for Hank Williams JR. Everyone knew that Alabama would make it big time. Hank Williams JR let Alabama join him for a song. Both Alabama and Hank Williams Jr are in the country Hall of Fame1
I giggled all the way through this one! Alabama has so many great songs it's hard to pick favorites, but I love "Fallin", "Touch Me When We're Dancin'" and "Mountain Music"! But you can't go wrong with any Alabama song! They were the house band at The Bowery" a bar on the grand strand at Myrtle Beach, SC for a time when I was younger. ❤ I got to see them in concert at an outdoor venue with my sister-in-law for their Farewell Concert in Nashville. To say we had a blast doesn't do it justice, lol! We had a fantastic time and Alabama was FIRE!!
My mom’s cousin married lead singer Randy Owen’s sister and was a roadie of the band for years. He used to get tickets for us when they performed in Michigan where we live. They are the first country music I listened to and became a fan. I don’t know any of them personally but have met them backstage a few times and they were as awesome as I had hoped they would be. ❤
Loved Alabama in their prime! My ex husband used to sing in a band. He would do Lady Down On Love. Alabama was also Artist of The Decade in country music.
Alamba was an great country group great song react too this song they song too Angels Among Us another great react by you again Britt thank you for sharing this with us Britt.❤️👍
Hey, Brit…I just subscribed to your channel. I really enjoy your reaction videos, especially how you talk about the fashion & the PDC club! Alabama was the 2nd concert I ever saw in my life back in the 80’s with my Best Friend. Randy Owen was definitely a PD lead singer. I screamed so much that I lost my voice for 3 or 4 days. Fast forward to 2013…I was battling Breast Cancer and same Best Friend got us tickets to an Alabama concert. I screamed as much as my body would let me 🙂. My favorite songs are Feels So Right, There’s No Way and Take Me Down (a bonafide pd). Also, the country artist that is 😍right now is Brett Young…Mercy and In Case you Didn’t Know are must hear songs. He will melt your heart.
@@wendydavidson4814 I guess one of the most favorite of my Wife and myself is "When We Make Love", would love to have a dollar for each time I have heard it since we met. My Wife and I were guests on a cruise a couple or three years back with Alabama and a lot of country music stars. Great cruise!!!
glad you discovered Alabama. other good songs are "Old flame" and "love in the first degree." They are from Fort Payne, AL. Randy Owen is the lead singer.
You need to react to "Alabama's "Close Enough to Perfect" ... it described how I felt about the love of my life and how she felt about me. We held each other close to both that song and this one, and as the words said here it felt so right. If I close my eyes and listen to this or Close Enough I can feel her beside me again, for a few minutes the power of music brings her back. When songs have that kind of power you know they are classics. Rest Easy Kate you are still oved and missed. Oh by the way Britt that feeling you had about Randy ... yeah most women with a pulse reacted that way ;)
It's funny that you're talking about how cute the lead singer is. His name is Randy Owen and I have had a crush on that man since I was about 13 years old and I am now 53, LOL.
The lead singer, Randy Owen, the bass player, Teddy Gentry, and the lead guitarist, Jeff Cook, are all cousins. The drummer, Mark Herndon was not related, and was actually an employee of the group. Jeff just recently passed away.
They use to do a festival every June in their home town Fort Payne, Alabama and a lot of the money they took in went to help the community that they was proud of being part of . I have seen lately where they are talking about being the June Jam back this year not sure in June
Oh my gosh…. Love Alabama! My mom had all their albums so I grew up on them. My sis and I had our kids (her two and my two) loaded up in the back of the car headed to a family reunion an hour and half away and we played Alabama there and all the way back…. We told them they were going to know what good music was, I’m sure with 3 hours of Alabama and my sis and I singing every song that is was excruciating for them 😂
Thanks for reacting to some Alabama! They are an iconic American country music and southern rock band formed in 1969 in Fort Payne, AL. They charted over 80-songs including over 40 #1 hits on the Country music charts and over 30 hits on the Adult-Contemporary and Pop charts selling over 80-million albums worldwide. They're legendary live shows broke attendance records, selling out arenas and stadiums across North America. Look forward to more Alabama reactions...possibly "Mountain Music", "Dixieland Delight", "I'm In A Hurry", "If You're Gonna Play In Texas", "Song Of The South", "The Closer You Get", "Lady Down On Love", "Roll On", "40-Hour Week", "Cheap Seats"...
Oh I had a girlfriend that went to every show she could get to . Just to see Randy ( lead singer ) she was in love with him till she passed away 15 years ago .
They’re cousins. One of the BEST country bands ever. So many fabulous songs. I love Mountain Music, Lady Down on Love, If You’re Gonna play in Texas. This band ruled country in the 80s. They don’t have a song you won’t like.
One of them has died. This song is decades old. Recommend "Angles Among Us." I saw them in concert. I doubt the two remaining singers are recording anymore, but their songs are timeless. They were named Group of the Decade, I think, in the 80s or 90s. My favorite song is Old Flame.
They have many hits. All their songs just have a cool soothing style even though most are more soft rock. This was a slower version compared to their other hits. They always had a unique sound and harmony. My favorite country/soft rock group of all time.
Those guys are class acts for certain. I met Mr. Owen (lead) when i was in highschool. We played pregame for a college in Alabama. When we came off of the field and walked up the steps, he was at the top. He was SO nice and down to earth. I think for a split second i was starstruck then like the weirdo i am, said "holy cow... you're Mr. Randy Owen. " 🤣 It was awesome
Alabama is great, love them. Classics like "Mountain Music" or "Song Of the South" are worth checking out. My favourite though is "Dixieland Delight" - catchy song and nice video. Also fun and worth a listen: "Old Alabama" by Brad Paisley feat. the original Alabama.
HEY BRITT! 😊 SO THESE GUYS WERE LIKE THE ( ELTON JOHN ) OF COUNTRY MUSIC, THEY NEVERRRRR WROTE A BAD SONG JUST LIKE ELTON AND BERNIE NEVER DID! 😊 BEEN MY FAVORITE NO. 1 FOR OVER 40 YEARS SO! ENJOY THIS GREAT COUNTRY SOUTHERN BAND BRITT.
back in the day of this song, going to 'honky tonks' to dance to the jukebox or local band, we called this 'buckle polishing' music....slow dancing super close will polish up a buckle, so many great songs....I am now a 69 year old granny
I absolutely love watching and listening to you react to these songs. I’m 64 year old country boy and I love old country music, but I love all kinds of music. Tom Macdonald being one of my favorites. Keep up the great work.
ONE OF THE BEST COUNTRY BANDS EVER OVER 50 MILLION ALBUMS SOLD AND STILL SELLING AND TOURING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alabama is one of if not the greatest country groups ever. In my opinion. The group is all cousins except for the drummer who is a close childhood friend of all of theirs.
When Randy Owens sings those love songs my heart melts brings so many memories .. they are related
Girl no matter what song you react to from Alabama you can't go wrong. RIP to Jeff Cook.
Omg I was so in love with him in high school. Lol, all these years later and I can say I wasn’t wrong. 😉
Alabama was the #1 country group in the 80's-90's. They ruled the airwaves. If you would try Lady Down On Love. You will love it
Great harmonies on Lady, Down on Love.
Paney Dropper 👍🤣
They were great for a long time. I Sean them Atleast 6 times. Great guys also .
They were cousins except for the drummer. Two of my favorites are, Why Lady Why and She and I!
They were a hit machine.

They were / are the BEST. four ole country boys that did it right.
41 #1 hits? Yeah, I'd buy that. Lots of talent in that band.
One of the best country bands ever! My personal favorite!
Alabama was HUGE and n the early to mid 1980s with around 50 #1 songs on the country charts and several that crossed over to the pop charts.

Ooh, Ooh, listen to "Close Enough To Perfect". And, yes, Randy Owens is incredibly charismatic and belongs in the club.
Alabama breathed new life into country music. They were to country what the Beatles were to rock n roll
Another great reaction
Beautiful song and this bombshell of a lady reacting puts Hollywood actresses to shame. Plus she’s funny and witty. Subscribed.
That look when he said…your wish is my demand!!!!
Alabama has always been, and will always be my favorite country group. These guys had the music I sang to while driving down the backroads in my home state of Tennessee. Still do.
they are great!!
Used to play in a little club at Myrtle Beach then one day they were discovered and the rest is history,, literally a history making band !

Randy Owen and his dimples when he smiles. Very charming, at least back then. They were such a great band in that time.

Country music’s most popular band in the 80’s and early 90’s. My favorites? “It Works” and “Angels Among Us”(official videos only).

Alabama is legendary. I had a chance to travel to Ft. Payne Alabama once. They have a little bit of the southern rock vibe as well.
Karaoke banger in South Alabama! I'm 53 and saw them live in my hometown of Montgomery, Alabama in the 70s at the Civic Center.

Love in the first degree!
They grew up on Lookout Mountain near Ft. Payne, Alabama singing in church as children.

They will always be special to me, I got engaged the night we went to their concert.
Love anything by Alabama! Hugely popular back in late 70s and 80s especially. Got to see them in concert. Great show!
back in the day of this song, going to 'honky tonks' to dance to the jukebox or local band, we called this 'buckle polishing' music....slow dancing super close will polish up a buckle, so many great songs....I am now a 69 year old granny
I absolutely love watching and listening to you react to these songs. I’m 64 year old country boy and I love old country music, but I love all kinds of music. Tom Macdonald being one of my favorites. Keep up the great work.
