Thanks for this one. Always brings me to tears because it reminds me of my 1st wife. The woman I had three children with. After I came back from Vietnam I had changed. I tried but I could not become the man I was before the war. She ended up leaving me for another. My heart is still broken after all these years.

George Strait and I, both hail from south Texas and grew up on cattle ranches. He's has been a competitive calf roper for decades and he is the real deal and not "...all hat and no cattle." He has more #1 hits than any other American artist and has more top ten hits than any other as well. Every album, forty years worth, has been a hit. This song, I believe from his second album, "Strait from the Heart," was a big hit, at the time, early 1980s and was a great slow dancing song for us on the dance floor. George came along near the end of the "Urban Cowboy" mania with its silly big pastel colored hats covered with sillier feathers and worn with bedazzeled jeans. It was like the disco era with jeans and stupid hats. Like I wrote above, Strait was the REAL DEAL and young people like me and my friends who appreciated real country and western music easily gravitated to his Texas dance hall music. Y'all should try it. It's great fun.
It is difficult to make one recommendation out of his dozens of hits but one that is important to me is one of his lesser hits, "The Man In Love with You" which is about a regular guy, not blessed with good looks and talent like Mr. Strait, who, like all real men, has a true heart and, though we hide it, have fear, sorrow and tears too. I urge y'all to listen to more and more George Strait.
“The Man In Love With You” is one of my favorite ballads. I like the old stuff, too. “Unwound”, “Marina Del Rey”, “Blame It on Mexico”, and one of my all time favorites “Any Ol’ Love Won’t Do”. That song is fire to me.
Those who are in love it really shows on their faces but also those who have lost love it shows on them too.
He has about 60 number one hits. Maybe he is the king of country! You can never go wrong with George.

Love this song by George. Early in 1983 he lived here in my hometown if San Marcos, Texas. I ran into him at the local Kroger's grocery store. I wish cell phones were around back then but I did get his autograph and talked to him briefly. He went to college hear played in local venus, and even kept his tour buses here.

I love my rock and roll but George straight is a fantastic singer and has some good music/ my x wife and her husband and I all celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas together with the kids and grandchildren, it's not hard he treated my kids good and still does.

I grew up in the 1960's down south, and was a teenager before we had a black radio station in my hometown, meantime my mother listened to our C&W station which is where I was first exposed to it...Love it for its STORIES from everyday life, and everyday people just putting one foot in front of the other...A song that's not from the heart is just entertainment, a temporary amusement...George Strait is a true artist, this song is a good example of how his songs are a slice of life in all its bitter-sweet fullness...
