Hi Ray. I have some questions? I hope you can help me b/c I am lost. I made two lures that failed; a jerkbait and a popper. The jerkbait is rather 5" round like the wood you start with but it flattens out in the back end. It looks like a GreenPoint Tackle Sharp Eye. The lure goes side-to-side in a short distance if you twitch it very light but as you jerk it hard or retrieve, the lure rolls, twisting the line the whole time. Do I need weights in the front? Do I need a stabilizer bill in the back? How come it doesn't swim like the ones at the stores? I think it is too light? I must mention that on the jerkbait the bill is bigger than normal. Let's say the bill is bigger than the lure much like a crankbait b/c I want it to dive deep. The second lure is a round popper like the Black Dog Lunker Punker. Both the lures sit on the water right but once you retrieve they don't do what they suppose to. The popper doesn't go side-to-side but goes on its side....what is the problem there? and it rolls and such......
LOL - your first 2 skews look an awful lot like a parting tool. The last skew you grab actually looks like a skew, but you use it as if it were a scraper. ;)
What type of diving lip do you use on this lure?
whats the length of your dowal and the finish length of your lure????

I really like the woodglut plans.
Lose the distracting music!
I liked it, and that's all that matters.
