Dude!! I am so grateful I saw this!! I started airbrushing baits for fun during covid. I want to eventually develop my own glide bait line as I’m on disability after beating 2 cancers so I need something to keep me busy during the winter months! This was a huge help! Love the modeling clay idea as I don’t have a clue how to work w wood! But I thought I’d have to figure it out! Now I can do it this way, develop my lure and then maybe do a wood version when it’s time to mass produce. Thanks for this!! It made a huge difference to me!! Appreciate ya jj
Hands sodwn thought you were just going to do a silicone or plastics pour without weights in these baits very detailed video good explanation for the process
Should be simple enough…I mean not to sound blunt, but seems pretty easy to me. Probably just glued in an image of an eye to the cavity any made a half sphere of clear resin, and super glued or uv resined that on top of the picture in the cavity. As for cutting the body in half like that I’m not sure though 🧐.
@@BionicBunV.1 Not to sound blunt, but He meant cutting the bait in half at angles where the joints are and adding the screws with eyelets known as screw eyes. He doesnt show that part, and in my opinion besides weighting it properly its one of the most important processes
Great video but should do more on the mixes and why you did it or how or what for resin and microbaloons and also how you made the notches for two piece bait
this is such a brilliant idea. i’ve been considering making my own baits, but couldn’t afford to go out and buy all of the tools i’d need to do all of the wood working. I never considered making a resin bait. I feel like making a resin bait offers you *easier* options for adding rotating hook hangers and shit like that. not to mention i’ve been wanting a gill style glide, and I don’t really care for most of the ones on the market, and the ones I do like are either $100+ or never available, or both. so this is definitely an awesome option. and it helps i’ve got a hobby lobby pretty close to me. thanks for posting this video man. edit: have you ever made any soft baits? i’ve got an idea on what I want, I just have no idea how to go about making it. lol. edit2: if you want more precise paint, you can buy different caps for different types of spray paint. you can get thin caps, fat caps, and stencil caps that offer a really precise spray. just something to think about.
Mike its all about do something and here you are here show to the world that..who want to creat or innovate something the result is right in your clip awesome👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻nice and big bait bud!
I’m wanting to make my own swim and glide baits do you have anymore videos on this same subject. I hope I can make them as easy as you made it look. Great job.!!!!
What resin are you using to cast the actual bait and do you put the screw eyes/pin and hook placement in the master mold before using the resin? Thanks in advance!
I like the video doesnt seem to complicated so once u have a mold u can use that mold over and over again i take it what do u think it cost u to make the first one totall $
Do you treat the holes left in the mold from the wires that were holding the master? Didn't see you address those. Maybe the resin doesn't escape through them?
I'm from Illinois near Chicago. I make $1 TINSEL jigs. Make them getto as F. But I slay the king salmon , Lakers, Steelhead, and more. Got a 14 lb Laker on it. . Its on 312fishing.
Awesome video Struggling to get my lures weighted/balanced. Guess I should make one with no weight first, then play around with weights and locations with tape Then drill holes in bottom patch with water weld. Then on subsequent lures I can use sinkers on toothpicks to place them where they need to go inside the bait while resin cures Made mine with feathered treble tail-didn’t have time to make a separate tail.
You do a very good step-by-step instructional video but you missed a step on video of how it is that you cut your mold in half your master mode the Sculpey mold can you please make a video on how it is that you separate the two halves of the master mode
I worked for dental lab it's easier to pour the mold in two pieces than cut it and it will be cleaner ..use Vaseline. or soapy water might work .works on stone molds..
My dad and me had talked about making our own lures then he got sick and we never got to. He passed just before Christmas '22 and he showed me this before he died and said this is the video i need to use because he said "this guy seems to know his shit". So i think im ready to see if i can do this. Just wanted to say thank you.
Ok, so I was watching a swim bait making tutorial, then someone (you) referenced it "differently", yeah that swim bait just isn't the same! But thanks for the great tutorial on making swim bait!
Dude you made this look way too easy! Lol, I just spent 10 hrs in the garage trying to get a symmetrical clay mold and still have work to do. Having a tough time getting the curves right.
Everyone here who's interested in making eyes with household items I invented a way that is very easy and fast: buy a pack of clear thumbtacks cut the handle of the thumbtack off and keep the tip paint the broken stick part whatever color you want the eye to be bore out holes in each side of fishing lure and glue the Thumbtack heads with pupille inside of fish do this after painting clear over the eyes and it will have a in-depth effect that actually comes out looking realistic

That's fantastic to hear! Keep it up.
I'd defiantly buy from u
How did you split the bait?? Pretty important part left out for a glide bait.
As he makes the tail, I imagine him saying "I don't got time for bills"
great action with the lure, well done
I actually had to get some custom ordered because they take so long to make

nice. should use a paint brush or horse hair for tail?
Awesome! Gonna try my hand in making some swim baits. Thanks for the tutorial!!
How did you split the bait and make the cut outs for the eye screw things? Like...the process.
Exactly!!

Been looking for a video on how to make a resin bait and damn I gotta get into this. Thanks bro.
I always watch your Jon boat mods but this was what I was looking for to repeat my lures thanks for the videos, motivation, and inspiration.
How many times making the mold did it take you until you got it right?
Thanks for the cool info
How did you cut the clay body in half after you baked it? Thanks for the vid just missed that part
With a mini hacksaw
Great video but should do more on the mixes and why you did it or how or what for resin and microbaloons and also how you made the notches for two piece bait
It's coming. I'm making a solid series on it.
What are the tails made off? I’m currently making my first glide baits right now
I like the idea how fast the process you have made it!

Yes, it's in a playlist on my channel. You can also check out our bait making group- BIG BAIT Addicts
The mold is good, I got a resin on Amazon, the bait looks good also, but when i tested it doesn’t float? What I need?
Micro balloons
What brand?
How are you cutting the clay? Just what tool. Il figure the rest out lol
I love this video. People complicate shit too much. I want to make these and I don’t even fish as much as I should!
Finally! 👍👍 great stuff
what wire did you use to keep the 2 pieces together? The one that runs through the 2 screw eyes
would this work for making a hand pour soft plastic mold ?
Yes, but there are tricks to it and you have to be careful
I like your swimbait building technique, good stuff. 👍🏼👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Also when you make your other series can you show pics of the molds and resin and show which part you use them !?
What part I use them?
great baitmaking i am going to try that soon😀
Get to it!
Can you provide a link to the two part resin you use? Brand
Allumilite.com
This video was great! If you make another video can you focus a little more the weighting process please! Again, great video !
So the white stuff is resin. I wanna do that bro i have the aluminte silicone. But the white is the resin right an thats all houll need right?
What resin are you using to cast the actual bait and do you put the screw eyes/pin and hook placement in the master mold before using the resin? Thanks in advance!
Do u make custom baits for people
I don’t have time for that, haha.

Which epoxy cured in the sunlight ? Thanks

Any way you can make a video on making glide baits specifically?

My brain was in innocent mode till you said that stuff... Thank You!!! 😑😒
Have you tried the paint brush tails yet?
I have not. They absorb water and throw off the baits natural movement. You have to tune your Bait specifically for those tails
What size ss screw eyes did you use for reference?
Awesome video

If your close on weight just add wire to your hook to get it suspend the way you want.......same with crankbaits also

This video is awesome. I was going to use wood but not anymore.
I'm wondering. Do those bailing wire holes affect anything?
Thank you.
Awesome Bud!
What gauge wire are you using for the pin?
16
How do you know how much micro balloon you add in?
I'll will get a video on it.
bruh what dont u do. love your channel, youve taught me HELLA shit.
I try!
Nice video. I ain’t got time for that crap either. Cuts into my fishing time! Tight lines..
You in Vegas?
LHC
Absolutely Awesome video thanks for the tips.
Where did you get the ss rods and what size?
Taipan Rods, 10ft. He is on FB
For the weights in the resin how many and how heavy on each size
Ok thanks I’m trying to make swimbait for the first time and it would not be possible without you and how do you cut it ?
Amazing work !! Thanks for showing us!!
Might be a dumb question but does anyone know how he connected the tail end to those open eyed screws?
A stainless steel metal rod. You can find them at a hardware store
Where can I find the stainless rods for the middle pin? Also diameter?
@@TinyBoatNation what are they called on eBay?
Stainless wire. Just look for thicker wire.
IMO you don’t want stainless in the joint, when the connection starts to rust a little and it starts to squeak 👌
Great video !!!
how did you cut the bait?
What I want to kno is how you got all that paint and clear coat off those windows and sliding glass door. Bet the boss was not happy. 😂
I was wondering the same 😂
