NAILED IT BRO!!! I used my insert on my late Grandfather's gold zippo for months. Then it stopped working. Just took it out of the case because I'm in need of a lighter. Watched a video right before this, learned how to bleed to air out, still didn't work. This video was the ULTIMATE FIX! Works perfectly, thank you bro! Much appreciated 🙏🔥

I was getting ready to return this insert because it's brand new, with good quality butane and was sputtering right out of the box... Then I thought to check RUclips just in case and found this video. Other videos tell you to leave the governer out. I like that you reposition it at a higher level.
    Thank you sir!

This fix worked perfectly. I don't think it is really about good or poor quality butane, just that each brand will have different compositions of N-Butane, ISO Butane, Propane etc. For example my bottle of gas is "Bernzomatic" and is 83% Isobutane, 15% Propane, and 2% Butane (I had to look up the MSDS). The different gas compositions of different brands will affect the gas pressure and thus the calibration of the adjustment screw.

The problem i had (with the single torch insert) was that the wire that gives off the spark was placed too high, so the spark went to the side without igniting the gas. So i used a tiny screwdriver to push it a bit out and down towards the gas nozzle, and it now lights up almost every time. The YT channel "kangsterizer" has a video called "zippo lighter butane insert (actual) fixes", which shows how its done.

Use a small sliver of metal identical to BASE material of the case (regardless of external finish) to slightly elevate the Zippo insert and reduce cap wiggle. Glue it in to bottom of the case (suggest e6000 glue) and case lid wiggle problem is greatly reduced. Done.

Tried to remove the , the limiter. I can not get it out.
My problem however, is that when I click to light the gas just spills out and keeps going for almost a second. If I manage to light it, the flame is ridiculous. I've tried lowering the flame by turning the screw.. But I have a feeling it's because the limiter is stuck? It seems to be stuck? Any advice you can give on this?

What's the fix for the button depressing to far and cutting off the fuel flow. I have multiple of these and they all work great. Except for one. It worked great for about 2 months then all of a sudden I noticed it wouldn't stay lit. After inspection and having 2 of them side by side I noticed that on the non working one the button depresses about an ½" further causing the fuel to shut off. As you know it's real freakin hard to depress the button and stop just after the click so that it stays lit. The force to cause the strike almost always makes you depress the button all the way. Hence cutting off the fuel flow. I've opened it up as far as you did in the video bit I can't seem to get the guys out of the torches metal case. Very aggravating. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Do you have a video on refilling the zippo?

    • @troubleshootingoops
      @troubleshootingoops Год назад

Just do general search for refilling butane torches/lighters. All follow the same concept. Invert lighter upside down and bleed out the propellent/air. Flip butane canister upside down and wait a few seconds for the butane to settle downwards towards the nozzle. Butane is heavier than the propellent, so the propellent will rise pushing the butane down. Next fill up the lighter (some have said to stop about midway in filling for a few seconds to allow pressure to equalize). Once filled, wait a few seconds or a minute before using for the butane to stabilize. Lighter should be good to go after that.
If you need to bleed out butane, leave lighter right-side up and bleed out.
Just got mine in and love it. No issues with it out of the box. Flame adjustment works as it should, and immediately ignites upon button press. But will keep this in mind if I do encounter any issues with it down the road.

Whenever you load in butane, small amounts of air gets pushed in also. So every so often you gotta press on the fill nozzle with something skinny to burp out the air bubbles. For my metal clippers before I switch to zippo butane inserts I would have to do that after about 2/3 months of use, and then they’d work great again. Try it could help

I recommend buying a larger can of "Bernz-O-Matic" butane from a local hardware store. It's better than paying for Zippo name brand butane. Surprisingly Zippo doesn't even refine their butane but they charge a premium for the name.

Whip it butane is a great value and not a lower quality product. I use that most the time because the tips are usually well fitting and don’t sputter with trying to load my lighters.
Usually the cans say buy one get one free and most stores are obliged to follow that if asked about it at the counter.

@@mrdavman13 "Fasfil 5x" is the best butane I have used, for the price. My lighters almost never fail on a first spark with that particular butane. Refined butane is not overrated.

So basically they didn’t set the fluid flow high enough. That’s weird especially the way they like to claim you need to use zippo brand butane for beat results.
