Got a dual torch a few months back and love it. Watching this video I went and bought myself a solid brass zippo. The problem is I’m sensing another collection addiction coming on.
Bro. I just found an old brass scroll zippo and then saw the red double butane torch insert, lol I had to buy it. And the parts to fix my all brass slim. I customize my knives all the way to the hardware so I sense I’ll be buying a lot of these. And along with knives. Will turn into gifts this coming Christmas 😂
I debated these inserts - where I live in Asia, it is quite a drive to get the butane. One of the reasons I carry and use a zippo is because almost anything flammable can be used.
I was yelling at the screen, "you're going the wrong way"... I've carried a Thunderbird butane insert in my Zippo case for about 5 years, works great. I definitely will check out the Zippo double flame.
Its funny watching all these videos where the user keeps putting the insert back in the case to test it like it needs to be grounded or something. It works without the case :D
I had a hard time setting up my dual flame lighter. Another video had the answer that fixed mine (it requires some disassembly to remove the butane limiter). Zippo hasn’t really figured out this technology yet.
I have the single flame version insert, bought it because I like the Zippo as an EDC lighter and I'm not a smoker so having to refill the classic insert weekly wasn't sustainable and was a waste. Zippo should modernize the Zippo and just come out with a soft flame sealed fuel container insert and have that be the standard insert while offering the classic and torch insert as options.
The problem with having a encased design that stops fuel vaporizing is that you'll oxygen starve it Like no matter the type of gasket that you use the flame will be very tiny
@@tydshiin5783 That doesn't make sense at all, Bic lighters exist. Sealed fuel containment lighters have existed for a very long time. I'm not talking about just a casket, but a full insert from Zippo. You can buy aftermarket Zippo inserts now for soft flame (like Bic) that uses a sealed, refillable fuel containment system. It's not a matter of it not being possible, it's that Zippo doesn't offer it. We have to go to 3rd party for it. It used to be the same way for the torch butane inserts, you can only get 3rd party ones until Zippo decided to offer one.
I have only ever been let down by zippo lighters because of fuel loss. It’s why I carry a bic aswell as a zippo. Excellent review as always and helping me sort my “to myself” Christmas list. Cheers Ben.
Got a dual torch and I can confirm the hinge is much tighter and snappier, which makes sense cuz you don't have the flint spring throwing it off up or down, it goes straight to the bottom so the tolerances may be tighter
I like the single because it lasts longer and they do have one that does soft flame and torch they got replacement stuff to help the originals last longer
these flames burn hot, but they go out at a little bit of wind, too. Also sad they don't have one with the flint + wheel, since obviously that's where a lot of the zippo charm comes from
Bud , always hold your butane and lighter perpendicular ie: straight up & down. Filling at an angle will occasionally get you a shot of propelant and reduces the amount of butane in your lighter will hold. Plus, always drain the air in the lighter. Doing that maximizes your capacity of butane your lighter will hold. Lots of videos on RUclips on how to drain the air. Easy, peasy.
u need to adjust flame heigh settings depended on amount fuel in tank to be able to light it. more fuel - lower flame settings. less fuel left - higher flame settings. there is brass limiter which u need to take off to if u want light zippo when tank is near to empty.
It's a mystery to me why they don't make a regular yellow flame version. That they've left it to a third party to take care of selling the best selling insert replacement is beyond me.
any of y'all seen the rubber replacements for the cotton in zippos? the flap deal over the cotton im referring to. lots of folks Don't like the fact that the Fluid evaporates. the Rubber should help
i've had zippos since i was a kid, they badly need an upgrade that prevents all that darn fluid loss, they're gonna get flanked badly by some chinese company that's gonna come out with a much better zippo....
Zippos and standard bic lighters are my favorite. I love standard zippos because they stay lit without holding a trigger...also, love the candle affect.
I have a plastic waterproof shell locks ! With o ring works fantastic use it constantly every day for 2 yrs it's made bye. THYRM IT GOT A CLIP IN THE BACK TOTALY WATER PROOF CHECK IT OUT
If it aint broke.. Dont fix it.. I bought one of these the other day.. It feels like an indoors girls lighter now.. Dont get me wrong.. Zippo is quality.. It just feels like a lighter best to use in doors..
Well they make a soft flame flint wheel now. Its advisable with a refillable butane lighter to bleed out any gasses that may be in there from factory before you fill them and to use the highest quality refined butane you can get. IME with the old Zippo BLUE, their butane SUCKED. I got a big can of quintouple refined butane for my old RHINO lighter and it still runs to this day

Yeah, I could have edited that out, but we all make mistakes.

Hi Jim. I have a single flame. I agree about the disassembly to allow a great flame adjustment and it's something Zippo needs to look into.

I like the feel and click of a Zippo. You’re right, fuel loss is a big issue with them.

Maybe one day they will make a soft flame insert like the Vector Thunderbird.
I want to get one of those pyrovault cases they look interesting.
I thought about getting one of those myself.

Zippo now has a soft flame butane refill that has the flint wheel. It's all good, but it's not windproof otherwise it's great!
What if you avoid inserting them before adjusting every time
thanks for the awesome review👍
I’m about to buying one of those zippo torches.
Glad I could help
Great video, do they fit the armor style case
My brain exploded when you were turning it down instead of up hahaha I wanted to yell at you through the screen
Always use a bigger Flame than Nesisary to light up a Smoke.
Good content and pacing. Thanks!
Is there an insert for the slim model?
Is it bright at night?

I a new to this, but could you say what a yellow version of flame is? And how it is better?
@@hmm2928 a soft flame, like a regular lighter, often with a flint instead of that torch dumpster fire.
They do have a soft yellow flame butane insert, just fyi :)
They make a pipe butane insert ???
i haven't bought a zippo for a long time. the website only has these torch inserts. do they no longer sell the wick and flint?
Sometimes when you set for full blast, it will blow itself out.
Hello. There isn't any information about this online - are you able to blow out the flame jets?
I have one works great
Maybe when I can get a soft flame insert.
Smokezilla makes a waterproof case with torch insert that will fit a zippo. the waterproof case will hold your zippo insert as well.
I wanne buy one.....which one is the better?
Does the flame shrink when the pressure inside the insert drops (due to usage)? That's normally the case with the "cheap" throw away bic lighters
You can use them without the case, you know.
There is no way to know how much butane is inside.
Do the butane inserts also lose fuel like the normal ones?
No, they are sealed.
Just got mine and when full it last like 10 seconds before empty
Who wants a zippo for the classic sound it makes or the cam action?
Pretty much.
I'm having same problem with dual flame. Hard to light doesn't stay on
以我個人的經驗 你該調整的是點火的地方 用止血鉗調整一下會比較好 而不是調整火力的大小
The lid is probably snappier because the insert is new.
Could be.

no, im pretty sure :(

These work pretty good.
Big ol’ bowl of stupid. Lol
Thanks for the video.
I’ve had both the single and double Zippo butane inserts - both were complete crap. Buyer beware.
What issues did you have?
Neither would ignite a flame. Just sparked. Purging the gas and adjusting the lighter “arm” didn’t help.
