+crowbarfreeman What are you? Anti-Smock? I smock every day! At least we aren't as oppressed as the fedora users, those guys had it coming to them at the start!
Is it legal to carry a switchblade where u live? I didn't really think they were legal to carry almost anywhere. Might wana just use a spring assisted (not technically a switchblade by law almost just as fast) if it's not legal. Certainly not worth getting in legal trouble for imo.
Rusizzle yeah.. Me too... I don't even smoke but i like this cute lil creature and i use is for my craft purposes.. Guess what.. I bought 2 zippos in just 2 days... Crazy enough for me
i didnt realize that the fluid evaporates over time and i was making the mistake of filling it up all the way and not using it a lot, so i wasted almost 2/5 of my zippo fluid on like 4 refuels lol
The main one with knives that I've gotten is from people that don't understand carrying knives. They love to ask "why do you have a knife do you want to hurt people?" Then I'm like "well not usually but when I hear a stupid question like that it crosses my mind"
When I was a sophomore in highschool volunteering at a summer camp I will never forget the camp director offensively asking me "why do you have that?" Referencing the Zippo I was playing with while walking.... Why do I have a lighter... At a summer camp.... Where we do at least 2 fires every week.
I don't smoke, but it's nice to have a utility lighter. I know what you're talking about in the video. It's just cool to have handy utility tools to flick around and play with out of compulsive desire. You never know when you might need a lighter, a knife, or a flashlight. Don't let people talk you down about being prepared. You must live in the city if people judge you for carrying a knife.
@@dankinel3263 Yeah, ever since Mussolini was in charge, Italian citizens are a bit limited in what they can do. I wonder if board games are legal there.
I don't smoke but I've carried my Zippo for the last fifteen years to thaw the locks on my truck in the winter and light my barbecue grill in the summer...great little USA made product...
I know the feeling. I've always carried a knife, zippo, flashlight and multi-tool since I was 12. I'm not a smoker and I've never killed someone, but people will always have assumptions. I've noticed that the only people who understand why I carry this gear is more "traditional" people who have a good grasp on the world, mainly the elderly and tougher guys like myself, most people of today get suspicious if you carry anything more than your phone. They can think what they want, but when they come to me for help because they were not prepared I can say "I told you so, now get your own gear".
I promised my Grandma when I was really little that I'd never smoke. Never have and never will. But recently lost my Grandpa, who *was* a heavy smoker back on December 5th 2022 after he collapsed in my arms the night before. He was born on December 27th, 1954 and was a United States Air Force Veteran. He had two zippos, one I gave to my brother and the other I kept. Since the fifth, I have gotten up every morning and lit a cigarette for him outside using his lighter. I'd let it burn in the ash tray, in his honor. But if someone asked me why I carry a Zippo, it's to honor my Grandpa and to use for utility in addition to loving Zippo lighters. He was practically my Dad in all but name. He was one of, if not my BEST and oldest friend. He was my hero. Just like my Grandma, who he was married to for 42 years... ~ I'll always miss him, and the times we had and will never have. Rest in peace, Pap. Sorry for posting this... But this is honestly why I've started to hold onto a Zippo. To keep his eternal flame going now that he's gone.
I've always carried a lighter around with me. Don't know why. I just like playing with them, and it's just a tool really. I've had a few zippos since 7th grade. Used to take them to school every day and nobody cared. Different times now though - that you probably be enough to get you expelled these days.
I'm in 7th grade right now and I have a Ace zippo and brought it to school by accident, it fell out of my pocket. Long story short I got suspended for a week and they took the lighter and wouldn't even let my parents pick it up. I really liked that zippo...
I was almost expelled from my school because i was carrying around an EMPTY Zippo. i like the sound. i like to play with it. I don't smoke and I'm under age but I'm also A.D.D
I don't smoke but I own several Zippos. On these times where everything is virtual, fakery or disposable, it's good to have something real, reliable and rock solid and come with a lifetime warranty. Zippos are one of the very last few things still made in the US; it's kind of a small piece of American Pride.
Yoel Singer Not really in America though. Most products in America are imported from China, India, Taiwan, or Vietnam. Idk how many American products are in your country, but it's different here.
A couple of my coworkers started to scold me after I started bringing my zippo to work. They thought I was smoking and that I was making a bad life choice just based on that I had a lighter. Hell, even my friends thought I started smoking. Explaining to several different groups of people that I just like fire gets old after a while lmao
I carry a Zippo, a flashlight, two knives, and a gun on a daily basis, among other things. I have definitely gotten questions about whether or not I smoke, why I feel like I need a knife or a gun, why I carry a flashlight, etc. However, I have also found that I am the first person that they'll come to if they need to cut, burn, or illuminate something. Fun how that works, huh?
knife remarks are annoying. I think the bigger the city/town you live in, the more weird looks and remarks you get. People in the city just don't understand the concept of carrying simple things that make your life easier.
old comment but this one road bike dude called me a crazy knife guy, just because i was open carrying a camp knife, i am but lets not jump to conclusions.
Its cuz of the "have the maid do it" mindset. Only those born into money can live well in big cities these days, so they come up coddled and unable to understand using tools yourself instead of paying someone else to do it for you.
Yesterday I had a short conversation with my sister: Me: "Hey look, I bought a zippo" *pulls out zippo* Sister: "Oh that's pretty cool but... do you smoke now ?" Me: "Nah, I just like fire."
To me carrying a Zippo is like carrying a piece of jewelry. And funny thing is the first day I got my first Zippo I went out with 3 friends of mine and we stepped into a saloon ordering some food as I realized there were candles on the desks. None of us had a lighter to light the candle on our desk but me. I proudly lit the candle with my brand new Zippo! :-) I love my Zippo ( 2.003.232 ), it is a limited edition, one with the number 226/500 and picturing a mosque - it reminds me on my trip to Istanbul as a teenager on my 250 ccm Honda back then in 1986. It was the time of my life, I was young and felt unstoppable - and indeed nothing stopped me on my trip from Germany to Turkey, I did the long trip on my bike like it was nothing... memories are the best thing in life! :-))
Brandon Smith apparently you ride the short bus to school. he demonstrated in the video that one lighter was not windproof. All zippo lighters are called windproof, but as shown, that is a bit of an exaggeration.
Ya me too my when I bought my first one my friends were like when did you start smoking? Haha and everyone is always asking why I carry my cold steel recon 1 tanto 4" blade
I was in the Boy Scouts, the National Guard, and have been on a few mission trips. I try to always have a Zippo and a Case on me. People are continually amazed that I carry a Zippo and do not smoke. It's funny that no one can think of needing a lighter for anything more than lighting cigarettes. I think it's just part of the things men should have in their pockets.
Zippos are great for utility. You can heat shrink wrap, solder, paracord, etc. without having to hurt your thumb from holding the button so long. Also, in winter you can pair it with a zippo refillable hand warmer.
The windproof flame is a main selling point of Zippo lighters. The company encourages its consumers to try the "fan test". Obviously gigantic industrial fans are going to be like inside gale force winds but something like a box fan running at medium or high setting will bend the flame but rarely, unless you want it out, snuff it out. Also a non-smoker who has a lighter on hand. I lived in a house full of smokers who went through Bics like they were candy and were often too broke to afford their own replacements so I figured that was a good time to finally justify carrying a lighter. Zippo fuel isn't exactly cheap though, and when you're around smokers who act like it's an Olympic sport, the lighter can dry out even faster than usual. Thankfully Zippo has eventualities like that covered and sells Butane inserts that last a bit longer than their oil-based counterparts. Heck, they even have USB rechargeable arc inserts if the notion of buying Butane seems daunting to someone.
I don't smoke but I use a zippo everyday and I carry a knife everywhere (even on dates) and at work I need a knife yet everybody wonders why I carry one of each yet when they need something cut its always "oh who has a knife"
I've carried a basic Swiss Army knife for longer than I can remember. People are as puzzled with me as I am with them. They ask "why do you carry a knife?" I reply "how come you don't?" My friends know I can open a beer.
I’m 15, and I carry a relatively old Newport lighter. My parents always ask me, “why do you have that with you?” And no, I do not smoke. I just always thought the aesthetic and fidget factor of the lighter is super cool
I carry 2 knives (one one of my 2.5-4.5" knives and the other is a mid size victorinox which usually is in my bag) I also have a knife in my truck that stays there as well as a butane lighter that stays with it and $200 hidden away. People are always like why you have these things an I come back to them and ask why they don't. Lighters are tools just like my knife. I don't understand why people consider a knife a weapon just because it folds in half. I really hate how assuming today's society is.
Well I can reasonably assume that if You were in a survival situation you would make it out alive! So it's not assuming its unwise assuming that you don't want
They don't consider a knife a weapon because it folds in half, they consider it a weapon because the person carrying them could stab them with it. If they're asking you why you have it they're either stuck up or they think you're a weirdo that's going to try and hurt people.
I don't smoke and I'm disgusted by those who smoke, but I still have a Zippo. I just love the look of a flame and I find it really relaxing. Plus it is a lot of fun to mess around with :)
I'm disgusted by the ignorant people who generalize by saying stupid shit like "I'm disgusted by those who smoke". that's a lot of people, maybe you're the problem. (oh and the 2 idiots who voted your comment up, what is this, a cult following?)
Joseph Pelletier Fuck offfff. You're more likely to get cancer from a badly running car on the street than you are from second hand smoke. Everything gives you cancer.
Joseph Pelletier If a car is burning oil it is definitely worse than smoking. If you even handle used engine oil it can give you cancer let alone breathe it in.
I get people always questioning why I am always carrying the things I do. But my simple response is you never know when you're going to need it. Like I never know when I'm going to need to use my gun or my knife or flashlight or anything in my EDC but I still carry it because I don't want to be in a situation where I'm wishing I had it.
As I was younger, I saw zippo and I fell in love. I wanted one. Got told off for lighting my uncles zippo when he was decorating his house I picked it up and lit it. I was a very young kid then - maybe 5 or 6.. When I reached early high school my friend let me have his dads old zippo and it was empty of fuel, I carried it around until one day my dad heard the familiar zippo click and ask my to turn out my pockets... sadly to say that zippo was no more after that... but I eventually bought a couple with my own wages when I was 16/18 and yes I did smoke one and off then. Now I'm a regular cigar only smoker and have a vast collection of vintage lighters and a new zippo I carry around with me
The first Zippo I ever owned I found in a recliner my grandfather had used when he was alive he died of tuberculous so most everything that belonged to him had to be disposed of but it was a little trinket I got to remember him. After researching the lighters date code I found out it was made in 1975.
That's actually very funny because at work last night my boss was like why are you carrying a pocketknife? (I carry a stiletto) and people automatically assume you're violent or weird for it. I carry it because it's easier to have one handy to cut open boxes or even for self protection. I also carry a zippo but I don't smoke. Nice video :)
That's because a stiletto quite literally was never designed as a tool. It was designed for stabbing people, the modernised stilettos are more art pieces than anything at this point. The only reason people believe that the stiletto is used as a tool or a combat knife would be because of the media. They're quite literally only designed to be used for combat, they're not meant for cutting, they're not meant for slashing. The media and internet have bred generations of headers thinking that they're classy carrying a stiletto. Just use a regular knife.
I love my Zippo as well. I have the standard silver metallic one. I love to fidget with it, opening and closing it. My mom recently told me to decide though and asked if I was smoking, of course I don't smoke
Some people just don't get it. Same people that assume you smoke or you're gonna kill someone with a folding pocket knife are the same ones crying to ban guns. They don't understand the utility behind them, or that these are part of people's hobbies and are necessary in some situations outside of the mall or supermarket. They've been coddled for too long.
Exactly, some people cannot grasp the concept that you don't need a good reason for everything. I just like to have 3 lighters, a knife, lockpicks, 3 padlocks, a flashlight and playing cards on me. Because go fuck yourself.
I smoke and carry a lighter, but I feel as though people shouldn't judge you for carrying one, some people like to collect them, or just keep them as they are useful to have nearby
I’m 14 and I had one litterly just to play with there’s literally no fluid and ppl always assume that i smoke weed or something my parents threw it away
People think your weird for carrying a flashlight, knife, multi tool etc until they need one and ask you for it :) then its like HA NO GET YOUR OWN lol
hopefully useful tip: a guy did a review of the zippo emergency fire lighting kit, and in that he said he carries that and his regular zippo with him. he pulls out the wool/cotton-thingy from the regular zippo, and lights it with the flint like normally. he also suggested collecting wool parts from your socks, if needed. so you can take it in a survival kit. one has to be creative, though :D btw, your red zippo looks cool. i'm a non smoker, and i'm planning to buy a zippo just for fun.
What an interesting different point of view you have regarding how you use a Zippo lighter. You use it for different purposes other than smoking, which I find very interesting because it is a different way of thinking. Thank you for your great video because you made good points.
I turned eighteen yesterday, and to commemorate it I bought an original plain silver Zippo, and I've never smoked in my life. I'm going to even start collecting now.
I've been carrying one for years and have never smoked a day in my life. I just like having one on hand for whatever. I've had to light birthday candles, burn frayed ends of strings, all sorts of stuff. Very handy little things.
Well I don't smoke tobacco but I do smoke weed. I foolishly bought a Zippo without knowing that it stinks to gas and when you have a pipe and inhale, it sends a shit-ton of gas to your lungs. But I still enjoy the little thingy (not for smoking though), like when I get asked by people "do you have any fire?" and I'll be all like "sure" and pop that little bastard out. It's a great feeling.
DesertMeerkat I don't know man, I don't really like bongs, I roll joints or smoke with a pipe. My honest recommendation if you want to stay healthy; Vape that shit or if you have the money and the amounts, eat it.
MrToxicBlizzard Aight, no worries. I'll probably just avoid doing it completely, dont wanna chance it. I got a medical card the other day so I can get edibles. Thanks man
Quick tip: For cheaper and easy replacements, you can use flints from disposable lighters (like BICs), and you can pop the top off of the Zippo refuelling bottle and fill it with Coleman camp fuel. Instead of paying $8 for a little bottle of brand name fluid, you can get a gallon of fuel for only $10+.
This is really cool video, thanks. I don't smoke but I've just ordered my first zippo. There are so many beautiful designs that I'm thinking I might start a collection.
I bought a zippo off my friend with Wiz Khalifa on it. Epic zippo, trying to learn a few tricks. I just quit smoking so hopefully I don't start again. :D
0:28. Smokey would be very disappointed in you, lol. Great video though, I carry a Zippo for utility purposes, and the greatest kinds of lighters around.
I have all sorts of gadgets cause I'm a survivalist and fire/EMS. So in fire/EMS I get called a whacker for it. Just a term we use to mess with each other. I usually like to carry my pager, at least one folding knife, my multi tool, and my flashlight. I just bought the same zippo. I have a fire steel which is great but in a survival situation, if I can get a fire going a lot easier with a lighter I will and I want a reliable lighter. It all goes into my "survival"/fishing backpack. I have one cast iron pan, a mini folding "stove" which uses regular burning materials, a mini cup/pot, one MRE, my folding saw, a cheap folding knife, parachord, camp folding utensils, my fishing tackle and maybe a couple various smaller things. I got to add to it still and get a better fishing only backpack. Dry clothes, emergency blankets and stuff like that I want to have as well. It's essentially my camping essentials bag.
I did the same thing. I never smoked but have always wanted a Zippo lighter like my Dad had from his Navy days - I just bought one 2 weeks ago at 54 years old. I'm just glad to see I'm not the only one. Couldn't explain why, I just wanted one.
Try not to get caught with the flask. Unless you're in the UK or are carrying water or something that isn't alcohol inside of it the pigs can deem it as open liquor and could hand you a ticket for it. If you have it in your car keep it in the trunk if you're transporting it somewhere such as a party.
Haha! yeah... I have the same issue, in the UK knife laws are really strict... so most people seem pretty stunned when I pull out my Spiderco to open boxes at work, even tho it is actually from the UK legal range.
Ya I live in the U.S. and wear my clans kilt sometimes but I carry a Bowie knife(very common to see in the western states) and it fits very well because they have stag antler handles and are just as beautiful! As well as useful
Funny I found this video right now, I just added a zippo to my EDC bag, it was on clearance at Walgreens for $2.19! From $22 I couldn’t pass it up and always wanted one. I also do not smoke, but feel it’s a good thing to have on me, not sure why, maybe just the feeling of being prepared for anything. I also added a nice little copper flashlight to my EDC case, for the same reason, you just never know when someone may need some sort of light!
I'm 72, never smoked, but I own two Zippo lighters. They are great when camping because they light in adverse conditions. There is just something nostalgic about having a Zippo lighter, a Case knife, a Parker fountain pen, and a Timex watch.
I just bought my first Zippo and I don't smoke either. I like the old school feel and look of Zippo's. With knives, I've carried an original fixed blade Ka-Bar and I got a lot of looks, but people only said things like "cool knife" or asked if it was an actual Ka-Bar. I live in NH, no restrictions on knives here.
I carried a leather bag in the 1980s And got teased about it being a Gay bag. I had all kinds of survival tools etc. I noticed that those who teased me were who needed to borrow the tools soon thereafter "You mean you need a tool out of my gay bag?" It's good to carry the zippo in a pouch As when you fill it sometimes it can leak and give you a chemical burn on your skin In the tropics a zippo will evaporate empty in a couple of days Carrying it in a gasketed box helps But I also carry a magnifying lens And have found that you need a 3 inch diameter minimum To consistently light fires I see guys using 1 inch lenses in survival kits And know that they will only light fires under near perfect conditions
have seen a couple Indiana Jones movies.. and at the moment am helping a woman look for land in central america, drove a deuce and a half army truck from Oregon to Panama, story is on neoindigenousliving.com and going to make a replacement for the old bag soon, but just slightly larger... and it will have a Zippo in it..
Hi names John,i am 16 y.o and i carry a zippo lighter and a knife in my edc and most of the people see with the lighter think i smoke at such a young age and people who see me with a knife are amazed at the same time confused and questioning like i am going to kill someone😹 So i do it in style to just keep them in amazement✋😂 Luv u man!!!
I just bought my first zippo my mom got really mad and asked me why and i just said ”they are just nice things to own everyone should have something nice” and she started having the talk about not burning down forests and smoking😂
I live in a small town, and most everyone smokes accept me. I'm talking only a thousand people. I carry a lighter at work, because everyone's asking me for a light, and it's embarrassing when I don't have one. It's unusual NOT to have a lighter on you at all times. I don't smoke, but, yes, I carry a lighter. As a note: I only just reached the legal smoking age, but I've been lighting people's smokes for years now. Is that "sudo-illegal" or something?
Harold Lauder I think the problem is he still thinks smoking is cool so he could never say "nah sorry man" otherwise he thinks his 'friends' would make fun of him lol.
You need to set your wick up in an S pattern on the inside, have more fuel in it (refresh every 4 or 5 days)and pull the wick up to be parallel with the wind shield... And THEN it will be windproof truley... zippo sets up their factory zippos kind of shitty, there are tons of tutorials but, your flame looked pretty weak.
I just got one but I forgot to rearrange the wick before I put fluid in! I guess I was anxious to see it burn! Lol now I gotta wait for the fluid to run out lol.
I did the S patern on my first one but I don't bother doing it anymore. It's only like an extra day of fuel if you do the S anyway and I find the more you tamper with the wick the least it lasts.
There are different models and windproof is one of the models. There is also blu, utility, and candle zippos. That's why he mentioned it was a windproof zippo.
Zippo's aren't that practical for EDC if you don't smoke. The lighter fluid will evaporate within a week, you are better off with a cheap disposable lighter or a butane lighter.
I have carried a Zippo (same one) since July of 1999 and have never smoked. for the sole reason that we went on a hike and ventured from the trail exploring and we weren't able to fine our way back that day. woke up the next morning cold and sick. haven't been without one since
I always leave the house prepared for whatever may happen. I keep a knife, multi tool, lighter, cord, foodstuffs, extra water, and a first aid kit in my bag at all times. When I moved to Colorado I was surprised by the number of people who I met that didn’t carry extra water and food in their car. I try to explain to people, it’s not paranoia it’s just common sense. Plus I love the sound of a lighter flicking open and the grinding of the flint as it ignites. Something about the sound and movement really helps me focus.
I went to a posh boarding school when I was high school and brought a few knives with me just because they're useful tools to have around. Needless to say, I got a lot of weird questions. They never confiscated them though.
Some of us are just pyro's.
I like fire and fire themes in games. Am I a pyro? :P
People have been pyros since we discovered fire.
mmmph mmph mph mmmmph mmph mmmmmmph mmph!
Honestly tho
Anthony Merryman How tf are you verified?
i remember the first time my dad saw me with a zippo he came to my room, sat on my bed and started a 2 hour session on how smocking is bad for health with no interruptions cause he gets mad if u interrupt him. At the end , He laughed when i told him, "i dont smoke i just like them".
+Broken Heart Martinez Smocking is serious! Don't start.
+crowbarfreeman What are you? Anti-Smock? I smock every day! At least we aren't as oppressed as the fedora users, those guys had it coming to them at the start!
Lol "smocking" XD
Lol that exact same thing happened to me. I started to collect them in high school and he was very concerned.
+crowbarfreeman too late
It's the mans fidget spinner
Johnny Mertes Zippos and Balisongs
Ong
Johnny Mertes nah that’s a balisong
I'm not a man but I carry zippos around with me as well
Combat Wave with Balisongs being illegal in a lot of places.
I don't smoke and murder too. But I like to carry a lighter and a knife. I don't know why. I just want to carry some tools.
+Foxy Bloxy yeah as am I.
i smoke AND murder and i dont carry either of those!
+DeadViper this fucking guy lmao. though I carry my zippos and a switchblade just in case
Is it legal to carry a switchblade where u live? I didn't really think they were legal to carry almost anywhere. Might wana just use a spring assisted (not technically a switchblade by law almost just as fast) if it's not legal. Certainly not worth getting in legal trouble for imo.
+a weapon to surpass metal gear as a matter of fact I don't think they're legal here. I do have other knives though
You're like me, i don't smoke but i like fire and lighters etc.
Do you like butterfly knife aka balisongs? :)
I have never owned/used one so i have no idea. I really like knives and self defence weapons though.
HELL YA BOI
yeah just like me
Rusizzle yeah.. Me too... I don't even smoke but i like this cute lil creature and i use is for my craft purposes.. Guess what.. I bought 2 zippos in just 2 days... Crazy enough for me
i dont smoke but I love my zippo.. I play with it all the time. I've went through like 5 packs of flints and 2 bottles of fluid lol
i didnt realize that the fluid evaporates over time and i was making the mistake of filling it up all the way and not using it a lot, so i wasted almost 2/5 of my zippo fluid on like 4 refuels lol
Johnny Auer yeah when I was a noob I almost thought I bought a fake zippo lol. Nowadays I only add a few squirts and don't ever fill it full
Same here. I'd recommend getting a butane insert for around $10. They're airtight so they last a lot longer if you don't use them everyday.
Recon9143 same. I love mine. But I need lighter fluid. Again. And again. And again. And another 5 gallon jug.
Dont buy flints, just use the flint of a used up bic lighter.
Why do you carry a zippo? Same reason why I carry a knife. Why do you carry a knife? Its probably the world"s most useful tool.
fleshlights*
in the jungle it is
BuffPenguin still a decent size pocket knife will do just fine in the “jungle” for getting some kindle and other stuff
How about crowbars lol
Louwhay yep sure is except cigarettes are more useful
I quit smoking in 1986 but I still carry my zippo.
Good for you. (Not sarcastic)
👌🏻
How old are you jeez fucking 89?
Nice!
Glad ya made a wise choice
The main one with knives that I've gotten is from people that don't understand carrying knives. They love to ask "why do you have a knife do you want to hurt people?" Then I'm like "well not usually but when I hear a stupid question like that it crosses my mind"
You should ask them why they automatically associate knives with hurting people. What on earth is going on inside their heads?
Good answer, Freedom.
people assume the worst with knives. its more of a tool for me than a weapon.
+auomauom I carry a Kabar USMC on my belt and a pocket knife and people sometimes freak out when they see me like I'm just coming to attack them
Well what do you expect friendo?
When I was a sophomore in highschool volunteering at a summer camp I will never forget the camp director offensively asking me "why do you have that?" Referencing the Zippo I was playing with while walking.... Why do I have a lighter... At a summer camp.... Where we do at least 2 fires every week.

3 things I always have on my person...Knife, lighter, and flashlight. And use all 3 Everyday.
Or in italy, since it is illigal carring knife here
@@dankinel3263 Yeah, ever since Mussolini was in charge, Italian citizens are a bit limited in what they can do. I wonder if board games are legal there.

***** 'murica
alex o'neal Sadly, most Zippos are actually made in China, and assembled in USA now.
Patrick Paré 'anada!!
+Nick k they say on them made in china
I know the feeling. I've always carried a knife, zippo, flashlight and multi-tool since I was 12. I'm not a smoker and I've never killed someone, but people will always have assumptions. I've noticed that the only people who understand why I carry this gear is more "traditional" people who have a good grasp on the world, mainly the elderly and tougher guys like myself, most people of today get suspicious if you carry anything more than your phone. They can think what they want, but when they come to me for help because they were not prepared I can say "I told you so, now get your own gear".
man you just like me when I used to carry lots of things in my pockets in pants pockets in lots of more
I promised my Grandma when I was really little that I'd never smoke.
Much love to you. I’m sorry for your loss.
They: "do you smoke?"
me: "smoke what?"
then they just laugh
Tell them you smoke crack. The laughing will stop.

@@GeoScape1109 teachers are assholes, they take your things and never give it back
im a high schooler you would probably get 2-3 days of out of school suspension
If you brought a lighter to my school your instantly a terrorist
Yes it is
I was almost expelled from my school because i was carrying around an EMPTY Zippo. i like the sound. i like to play with it. I don't smoke and I'm under age but I'm also A.D.D
what? lmao
yea i just like to play with it. people i don't like me.
I was more laughing because of that "I'm also A.D.D." at the end. Not sure what that has to do with anything lol.
oh yea... oh its because like i have to be doing multiple things at once so I flick my lighter without knowing it.
0shadowgrace0 I do to but im not A.D.D
I don't smoke but I own several Zippos. On these times where everything is virtual, fakery or disposable, it's good to have something real, reliable and rock solid and come with a lifetime warranty. Zippos are one of the very last few things still made in the US; it's kind of a small piece of American Pride.
There are more things made in the US than you think. And I'm not even american.
Yoel Singer Not really in America though. Most products in America are imported from China, India, Taiwan, or Vietnam. Idk how many American products are in your country, but it's different here.
Angus Fraser Tthe fact that they are manufactured in other countries doesn't mean they aren't designed in the US.
Well I have playing cards like bicycle they're American made and very nice. Has very good quality.
I have one from 1950 made in Canada :)
A couple of my coworkers started to scold me after I started bringing my zippo to work. They thought I was smoking and that I was making a bad life choice just based on that I had a lighter. Hell, even my friends thought I started smoking. Explaining to several different groups of people that I just like fire gets old after a while lmao

People in the city just don't understand the concept of carrying simple things that make your life easier.
nicsye12 we carry knifes & guns everyday in vegas
old comment but this one road bike dude called me a crazy knife guy, just because i was open carrying a camp knife, i am but lets not jump to conclusions.
Its cuz of the "have the maid do it" mindset. Only those born into money can live well in big cities these days, so they come up coddled and unable to understand using tools yourself instead of paying someone else to do it for you.
Yesterday I had a short conversation with my sister:
Me: "Hey look, I bought a zippo" *pulls out zippo*
Sister: "Oh that's pretty cool but... do you smoke now ?"
Me: "Nah, I just like fire."
I love my Zippo ( 2.003.232 ), it is a limited edition, one with the number 226/500 and picturing a mosque - it reminds me on my trip to Istanbul as a teenager on my 250 ccm Honda back then in 1986.
It was the time of my life, I was young and felt unstoppable - and indeed nothing stopped me on my trip from Germany to Turkey, I did the long trip on my bike like it was nothing... memories are the best thing in life! :-))

jakesterofawesum you mean all zippos are called windproof or are you talking about all lighters?
Brandon Smith apparently you ride the short bus to school. he demonstrated in the video that one lighter was not windproof. All zippo lighters are called windproof, but as shown, that is a bit of an exaggeration.

ValmirTheGamer Fire! Fire!
One of the most mundane applications for one is heating up the head of a Bic pen. Makes them work like new.
You never know when you'll need fire.
Black flames31 same here lol, everyone wonders why i carry a knife. But they always end up needing one.
I bought one becouse i thought it is a nice tool/cool thing to own even though i don't smoke.
Same.
I've carried a basic Swiss Army knife for longer than I can remember. People are as puzzled with me as I am with them. They ask "why do you carry a knife?" I reply "how come you don't?" My friends know I can open a beer.
You can use a spray can and use the lighter as a flamethrower
Everything gives you cancer.
well I doubt cars do much but his stupidity might be a result of some kind of illness.
CactusforceX True that. I'm disgusted by judgmental douchebags.
I completely agree! Don't forget some leather gloves. They are so useful in survival situations
Now I'm a regular cigar only smoker and have a vast collection of vintage lighters and a new zippo I carry around with me
I mean besides its utility as a tool. You can use it to light the cute girl at the bar's cigarette
Cant believe how this video went so crazy with views, Thanks guys so much. This is still my favorite zippo.
That's a lot of views!
its because a lot of people who dont smoke have zippos

I don't smoke, however I carry a zippo marlboro silver storm. Very useful little item.
Yeah, some people are just too stupid
Exactly, some people cannot grasp the concept that you don't need a good reason for everything. I just like to have 3 lighters, a knife, lockpicks, 3 padlocks, a flashlight and playing cards on me. Because go fuck yourself.
Amen
Literally no one in the world assumes that about someone with a folding knife. Get attention in other ways.
Exactly it's just so absurd
People think your weird for carrying a flashlight, knife, multi tool etc until they need one and ask you for it :) then its like HA NO GET YOUR OWN lol
I need a Supreme Lighter, A Knife, and a lot of random things to carry around lol.
I 've had a Zippo in my pocket since 1960. I stopped smoking in 1988.
And that Zippo is still in my pocket. And we are 2021.
Just like having your keys, wallet and phone in your pocket. Its like a safety blanket lol
hopefully useful tip: a guy did a review of the zippo emergency fire lighting kit, and in that he said he carries that and his regular zippo with him. he pulls out the wool/cotton-thingy from the regular zippo, and lights it with the flint like normally. he also suggested collecting wool parts from your socks, if needed. so you can take it in a survival kit. one has to be creative, though :D
btw, your red zippo looks cool. i'm a non smoker, and i'm planning to buy a zippo just for fun.
What an interesting different point of view you have regarding how you use a Zippo lighter. You use it for different purposes other than smoking, which I find very interesting because it is a different way of thinking.
Thank you for your great video because you made good points.
I find it interesting that people assume fire in a box should only be used for cigarettes
I turned eighteen yesterday, and to commemorate it I bought an original plain silver Zippo, and I've never smoked in my life. I'm going to even start collecting now.
People ALWAYS ask me if i have a lighter, it's a good conversation starter
I've been carrying one for years and have never smoked a day in my life. I just like having one on hand for whatever. I've had to light birthday candles, burn frayed ends of strings, all sorts of stuff. Very handy little things.
I'm getting a zippo for the same reasons and lighting incenses
Well I don't smoke tobacco but I do smoke weed. I foolishly bought a Zippo without knowing that it stinks to gas and when you have a pipe and inhale, it sends a shit-ton of gas to your lungs. But I still enjoy the little thingy (not for smoking though), like when I get asked by people "do you have any fire?" and I'll be all like "sure" and pop that little bastard out. It's a great feeling.
wait, so if i light my bong with my zippo, will I get a good amount of gas to my lungs? I'd like to avoid that lol, but I really wanna use it :P
Thanks man
DesertMeerkat Wait so you have never consumed Marijuana? WTF were you asking me advice for?
+MrToxicBlizzard No no I HAVE. Just never lit anything with a zippo. My group usually uses matches. Don't know why, but I don't argue
I don't smoke, but I always carry my Zippo with me because I always like to be prepared. I don't leave my bedroom without my knife.

That is a pretty cool setup!

I did the same thing. I never smoked but have always wanted a Zippo lighter like my Dad had from his Navy days - I just bought one 2 weeks ago at 54 years old. I'm just glad to see I'm not the only one. Couldn't explain why, I just wanted one.

I always carry my zippo, a stiletto knife, and an 8 oz. flask everywhere i go. I do smoke though v:
Try not to get caught with the flask. Unless you're in the UK or are carrying water or something that isn't alcohol inside of it the pigs can deem it as open liquor and could hand you a ticket for it. If you have it in your car keep it in the trunk if you're transporting it somewhere such as a party.
Haha! yeah... I have the same issue, in the UK knife laws are really strict... so most people seem pretty stunned when I pull out my Spiderco to open boxes at work, even tho it is actually from the UK legal range.
I always loved how the Sgian Dubh is listed as an exception (to an extent and under proper circumstances) from the knife laws.
Angus Fraser because it is traditional and shit, worn with the kilt by the Scottish
I don't smoke but ya I carry a zippo. I've had it for 2 years now, I just like the story behind it. Same with my knife.
my mom think its necessary to carry my knife she says when do you ever use a knife like that? and i can immediately find 10 reasons to carry a knife
I do carry one and I don't smoke lol. Got it from my father when he came back from Bosnia mission.
I always carry a knife and a zippo with me, everyone asks me why I am carrying these but every once in a while they need one of them
I just bought my first Zippo and I don't smoke either. I like the old school feel and look of Zippo's. With knives, I've carried an original fixed blade Ka-Bar and I got a lot of looks, but people only said things like "cool knife" or asked if it was an actual Ka-Bar. I live in NH, no restrictions on knives here.
i bought a zippo and even my grandfather start thinking that i'm smoking lolz

I carried a leather bag in the 1980s
And got teased about it being a Gay bag.
I had all kinds of survival tools etc.
I noticed that those who teased me were who needed to borrow the tools soon thereafter
"You mean you need a tool out of my gay bag?"
It's good to carry the zippo in a pouch
As when you fill it sometimes it can leak and give you a chemical burn on your skin
In the tropics a zippo will evaporate empty in a couple of days
Carrying it in a gasketed box helps
But I also carry a magnifying lens
And have found that you need a 3 inch diameter minimum To consistently light fires
I see guys using 1 inch lenses in survival kits
And know that they will only light fires under near perfect conditions
nice
Use kerosene as fuel. It _won't_ evaporate.

It's not a gay bag it's a mans bag! Have you seen Indiana jones. Talk about carry a golden idol in there

Why carry a zippo if you don't smoke? Some ladies still do or socially smoke and it's gentlemanly to light their cigarette. That's reason enough.
Hi names John,i am 16 y.o and i carry a zippo lighter and a knife in my edc and most of the people see with the lighter think i smoke at such a young age and people who see me with a knife are amazed at the same time confused and questioning like i am going to kill someone😹
So i do it in style to just keep them in amazement✋😂

I just bought my first zippo my mom got really mad and asked me why and i just said ”they are just nice things to own everyone should have something nice” and she started having the talk about not burning down forests and smoking😂
dude that entire video just described me lol
I live in a small town, and most everyone smokes accept me. I'm talking only a thousand people. I carry a lighter at work, because everyone's asking me for a light, and it's embarrassing when I don't have one. It's unusual NOT to have a lighter on you at all times. I don't smoke, but, yes, I carry a lighter.
As a note: I only just reached the legal smoking age, but I've been lighting people's smokes for years now. Is that "sudo-illegal" or something?
What if you were the only heterosexual working in a gay bar and everyone was always asking you for bum jelly?
Harold Lauder I think the problem is he still thinks smoking is cool so he could never say "nah sorry man" otherwise he thinks his 'friends' would make fun of him lol.
Harold Lauder Then it would only be courteous to carry around a tube of "bum jelly".
Actually, the way the laws are usually written, it's only illegal to buy cigarettes underage and not illegal to smoke.
pseudo-illegal*
I cary normal lighters on me most of the time and people still think I smoke to be fair I do
I used to carry a bic lighter and fill my hand with gas and ignite it, making a small fire ball in my hand. Always loved fire and electricity
All zippo's are windoroof
There are different models and windproof is one of the models. There is also blu, utility, and candle zippos. That's why he mentioned it was a windproof zippo.
yes but the standard original zippo's are called zippo windproof.
Zippo's aren't that practical for EDC if you don't smoke. The lighter fluid will evaporate within a week, you are better off with a cheap disposable lighter or a butane lighter.
+Loftty OG except when its really cold...butane aint too good with that.
good to have for camping or in a survival pack. the fluid is a great fire starter and they're both light weight and more durable than a Bic
I was wondering why my lighter kept on needing refueling.
what is EDC?
Joseph H Every Day Carry.
I have carried a Zippo (same one) since July of 1999 and have never smoked. for the sole reason that we went on a hike and ventured from the trail exploring and we weren't able to fine our way back that day. woke up the next morning cold and sick. haven't been without one since
I carried one while I was in the Army. start my little stove (needed to make coffee) and also they are a hand warmer. oh yeah I don't smoke either.
Yea I had condoms and then my teacher thought I was fucking like naaa they just make for good water balloons
I always got i knife with me its a tool not a weapon
how long does fuel last in a Zippo if you don't use it?
not long :/
if you leave it closed, bout a week. If you flip it open and closed quite a lot, 5 days.
I use mine every day at least 10 times and open it about 30 times ever day. Mine lasts 3-5 days
This perfectly describes me and Im scared
