Today we are unboxing and reviewing an early Christmas present from my wife, a Zippo lighter, the 1941 Replica that has been engraved with my channel logo.
Zippo is an icon as both a lighter and as part of the pop culture.
Iconic design, lifetime warranty and incredible reliability make it a companion for life.
I love them as they remind me of mechanical watches with their longevity and serviceability.
also like a mechanical watch they stop working and run out of fuel pretty fast if you don't use them.
But now, there's a new kid in town, a chinese made Zorro lighter that takes the Zippo formula and turns everything to eleven!!
Machined hinge that is part of the case itself and a gasket to stop the evaporation of fuel fixes everything wrong with a Zippo.
it does have 2 drawbacks.
1. It's not a Zippo
2. It's VERY heavy!!
As a lighter to keep at home it is perfect, as a carry on lighter, the Zippo is more practical

Zorro lighters are second to none, I am always impressed. I bought their Kerosene lighter and it is an ACTUAL kerosene lighter... The flint somehow creates a momentary open flame to ignite kerosene, works every time.

I have a regular Zippo and the most annoying thing is that I need to refill it within a week even if I don't use it. Just ordered a Zorro to see how that works. Amazon has an all brass Zorro for $32 USD. Funny thing is I don't even smoke. It's all for fun and occasionally using to start a fire in the fireplace or the firepit outside. I have those long plastic lighters, but that isn't fun.
I collect lighters and I have to say, thank you for bringing this to my attention. I'd love it if you showed off some more unique and cool pieces as time goes on.
I have the Zorro 912S lighter, which is even heavier at around 210g. Definetly a table lighter, but I love it, it's a tank. Keep them coming!

Zorro makes great quality lighters of countless different des8ns. They are a quality lighter manufacturer. Fairly priced too!
Already knew zorro lighters before watch this video, and agree 100%. Chinese, but with a superb quality. They Improved Zippo. I already have 2 of them and advise the zorro butane gas insert.

From the looks of the Zorro it looks like it was designed to be a desk lighter for a business executive
I have a polished brass Zorro 902 which is about the same size as a regular Zippo and slightly heavier than an armored Zippo. It has a 5 barrel hinge that is attached in exacly the same way as a Zippo's but there is no play in the lid whatsoever. It does not have gaskets like the 912 or 915 but the fuel doesn't evaporate as quickly as with most of my Zippos - my Zippo armor gives it a run for it's money though. It cost less than a third of the cost of a plain, regular Zippo here in the UK. The 902 is the one to go for if you want something that is almost identical to a Zippo but better.

For EDC try the S.T. DuPont Minijet series. Incredible build quality and just the right size to feel really good in the hand but disappears in the pocket with no bulge.
I love both lighters but recently I started using a 1960's imco triplex super 6700, and tbh the fuel last like 3 times longer in imco lighters. Seems like Zippo and zippo style lighters are terrible for fuel evaporation. I must say I love the candle feature on an imco lighter too. It's great for lots of things. Just slides out from the bottom. Awesome video
True BUT somehow the ignition got very unreliable on mine and I don't know why. Still using the same flintstones and the thing burning (like in a candle, too lazy to google rn) is still good...

Thanks for this video! I really like this Zorro lighter. Yesterday, i ordered a rounded 912 (Complete Brass/War Armor) for 30 Bucks from Aliexpress.
I don't care about brand. It's just a name and by the way...this seems to be much better than a Zippo, which i own for about 20 years, but never was satisfied with it (Fuel empty after a few days, bad strokes...)
I also have big hands and so this 912 could fit perfect😂
Hope it's not the last one on a subject. I honestly LOLed 😆on a part about "self defence".

Can you keep zorro lit for many minutes without setting it completely on fire like zippo? I don't smoke, but I want to use zippo style lighter as a mini torch, because you don't need to push a button all the time like in cheap lighters.

Great video! Could you do a follow up on how long the fuel lasts before it evaporates? I'm curious if fuel still leaks out through the wick.
I got the lighter sometime in December and used it as a table lighter and recharged it yesterday for the first time after the initial fueling.
It didn't need to, it was still working, i just did it cause i was fueling my zippo.
I have a feeling it can take months between charges 😂😂
zorro wheel more soft and clickable than zippo wheel....so, I combine it, zippo case + zorro insert, and the result is incredible...

Are the inserts really interchangeable? That opens-up possibilities of swapping-in an arc-lighter. Not even slightly iconic, but also not likely to leak all over and leave a welt. Which is why my Zippo lives on the bookcase 🙄
And so what if it's shiny? You can mod it! Scotch-Brite pad and a system to keep the stroke aligned and you're off to the races. You could mask it and leave high-polish bezels. We all adore a good bezel 😊 Happy New Year
Apparently they are, but between this and the classic Zippo, mine is a 1941, which is slightly different so they aren't in my case

Hey anyone knows what is the difference between zorro (any reference) and a zorro same reference with the letter S?
I think the S is "shiny" so they come with mirror finish
S for Zorro is like “Armor” for Zippo. S probably stands for Shield. S models have thicker case walls.
I’m happy with a Zippo, people don’t buy them to be super high end, lots of other nicer high end lighters out there…

Regular Zippo and Zorro are compatible, the 1941 replica Zippo is not, it uses a more squareish insert

Even the clones of zippos that zorro make are higher quality then zippos in my opinion. At least 3 times as thick whilst maintaining the classic zippo look. The design is near enough identical yet because of the tighter seal around the inserts the fluid takes much longer to evapourate. Even the cams on them are better.

Zippos are amazing, but by default they feel cheap and by default they ARE cheap. They are so cheap to manufacturer that zippo can afford to replace them 10 times over without losing profit hence their amazing warranty.

Looks like a 912 (not s) that has 5 hinges instead of 3 because it’s the 1941 replica style with the curved top. The non-curved top 912 only has 3 hinges 🍻

I've been so impressed I have several now. The heavy ones are super armoured, but the regular ones are about the same as Zippo. Just much, much better made.... 🤗
