After years of using a $5 knockoff Chinese Zippo style lighter I now have three real Zippos. Two brand new ones and an older Bob Marley case with a new insert. All anyone really needs is the $25 chrome Zippo in the blister pack.
Yep, just picked up my first as an “all in one” blister pack for 18 bucks on Amazon, standard brushed brass (not a fan of chrome, I’m going to force patina the brass), and includes 4oz of fluid and flints
The SKIDZ Zippos you were talking about is part of a collaboration with the brand SKIDZ, which is a clothing brand. So while the design is really, really bad, Zippo may have had to make some compromises with SKIDZ. Otherwise yeah, you're right about all of this.
@Zippo Fanatic 77 Outdoors Hi, i’m looking for the do it all, all day everday carry zippo that i will use with butane insert for smoking cigars Any advice ?
Hey buds. Sounds like u need a 41 replica brass. I prefer the yellow flame insert last longer and is more reliable. But if u like torch single or double are good I use them all the time. I prefer the double for big stogies , but my single torch has not been getting much use these days. I keep double torches in my stogie zippos. Eventually get yourself a solid silver 41 lol u won’t regret it. Big flex when smoking a stogie
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors yeah haha the silver on is definitly on the flex side, love your content btw man you gained a subscriber from France 🇫🇷. I’d like to ask you few more advice on zippo’s would you mind we go on Instagram or some social media you use to have a faster way of chatting
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors Ok no problem man i get it Yeah i plan to buy the yellow flame not torch because i have many torch lighters and for a zippo i’d like to keep it traditional with the yellow flame being closer to the original design with the wheel, the problem was the fact that is gas and it’s not recommended for lighting cigars, problem solved with yellow flame insert. And for the advice I really hesitate between the armor high polished chrome and the 1941 chrome brushed (of polished if it exists i dont know) i like the polished chrome finish overall because i’ts a good alternative to the crazy expensive silver. So yeah i can’t choose between those two. I’ve watch you saying that the hinge is better on 41 but the armor is substancial too and feels solid so if you can help me choose
@@bigstaif7753 just get both then lol they both are a really Must have. And there is no high polish finish for the 41 Only on silver so Maybe get armor first then cause it has your finish
Im about to buy a slim brass zippo next month, however i can go for a brass/golden zorro for a lot less, which one would you have bought? In terms of quality and overall rating? Thanks regards Richard, btw,i like your collection
Thanks Richard. Well I just wouldn’t get a zippo slim. They are small. Hold less fluid and made for a woman. Get a regular size zippo. But the zorros are good too. And if money is a factor. Go with that
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors i don't enjoy my zippos nearly as much as my zorro 912 and 912s now😅😅 they are so well built and the weight of them is "comforting "? I actually brought the 912s ( the thickest and heaviest one) to work one day and i got all these weird looks and questions about it, a couple of the people couldn't believe i carried it around in my pocket😂😂😂 theu liked it though and used it😂
I am starting to wonder if we arent seeing zippos anymore because the stores are being outpriced and have no profit margin. there is one store here not including walmart that sells zippos new
Well it’s hard to say because they ebay sellers sell there’s for half price than zippo website. So I’m sure stores are just price gouging like u wouldn’t believe.
Hi people…. So, I have just purchased and received my latest edition of zippos. It is the ‘American Zippo Classic’ (24751) with the distinctive top. Date is ‘G’ 2012. Looks absolutely great! However… I did notice after inspecting it that the writing on the felt is actually red! Shouldn’t that be black going by the date? Not only that, was this Zippo In production in 2012? 🤔🤔 It looks and feels absolutely genuine and the markings are identical to other zippos I have dating 2012 up to 2014. Doesn’t look like it has been used either. In fact, even the wick looked liked it had been packed from zippo lol 😂 I only purchased it because it was half the price as it is on the zippo website so not too worried I have a fugazi. Don’t think it is though. Anyway, am I just being fussy or paranoid? Thanks 😊
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors yeah… don’t care because it’s a beautiful zippo lol. Already eyed up my next piece… though not an actual zippo but the zorro windproof lighter. I’ll have to wait a while though.

Yo I've only just found your new channel man 😮 what happened to the old one, I thought something happened to you man, glad to see you're still making videos and still doing good man. I bought the Zippos I wanted then I was done, I remember talking to you a while ago about the silver Celtic cross Zippo I bought, I liked it that much I bought two, now Zippo don't even sell them apparently 😅 so I made a good choice to get two of them when I had the chance. Just glad to know you're still here man. Do you still do live on RUclips? I just googled how to fix loose lid on my Zippo, and your channel came up man, glad I found this one.
Haha thanks man ! Welcome home. Yeah stupid hackers got on me there. Yes good choice my man love when zippo discontinues the nice ones. Yeah still doing lives my man. Hope to se u there next one

i got a zippo with a dragon design on it that was cheaply printed on, was pissed that it wasnt engrave. bought an engraved version, gonna use the nice engraved one as my desk lighter and my cheap printed one as my edc with a butane insert. when the design wears off, ill use a dremel to score a new dragon head into it and maybe gunblue it.
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors after watching more of your videos and seeing the zorro 912, i was wondering if you've ever customized one of those tanky zorros like you do zippos and how well it works
I personally love all the new designs. There for quite awhile in the teens there was very few interesting designs. As Brand, Licensing, Sales, etc. continue to diversify into more markets, I think you will see more of the same. Yup pricing is definitely up
Hi zippo fanatic , do you have a video or will you record one on how to repack wick and cotton on zorro steal seal insert? or more videos about zorro products in general?
@@snoopy8870 no I only zippo inserts for fluid. They are fun and cool but I’m everyday user. I don’t leave a zippo sitting around to see how long it will hold fluid. Because even with a sealed tank insert it still only holds as much as u can use. So it only lasts me the same time a regular zippo does.

@@Zippofanatic77outdoors do you happen to have that image around? I haven't been able to find it online, I'd love to customize one of my Zippo lighters with that image.
I only go for used and etched or patterned zippos now. Under 50 dollars. The durability of the vinyl just doesn't appeal to me if I'm going to actually rotate it in my collection.
I only had 5 Zippos and I love it but the design is very basic like 2 vintage look hpc, slim brushed, rose gold reguler high polish and two street chrome of 1 vintage look and 1 reguler. Why I only collect the basic design finish because it's only for my daily use and more faster to sell them than the limited or special edition
Hey zf77 sorry for interrupting your weekend happy April fools by the way. My zippo wick keeps burning when i light it its fully fueled and the wick is saturated i trimmed the wick and it was still burning i think the problem was that i packed it to tight i tossed away a piece and had two fluffy pieces on each side and it seemed to work but every now and again i hear a sizzle and smell something burning from the wick theres no new burn marks or white smoke coming from the wick just the smell and sound i positioned the wick into more of a right angle than a j hook for the disappearing flame trick maybe thats affecting it
You know you could always send me one ;D haha just joking around! I wanna get into collecting but as of rn I only have a fake one which I am not proud off will buy my first actual one as fast I can
I lived in Canada and would bring US dollars and lived off the difference for years 100 US for 160 Canadian this was many years ago , my mom was born in Montreal had three Canadian Grandparents one was a Colonel in the Canadian Army !
Thats the thing with ebay and Amazon anybody can sell anything at any price that they want or think that they can get as they are open market places which can be a good thing or a bad thing based on how much you pay for something
I would collect a few more if Zippo would make a stainless Damascus and Timascus model. I love the older styles more. Zippo is not very innovative or makes newly designed butane lighters offerings.

I am only getting three zippos the 41 replica and the 35 replica then a cheap $10 beater for tricks that will cost me about $100. Wish they where not as expensive as they are.
I’d def want an armor in there and vintage look with slashes. Followed up by a actual 1950’s-70’s vintage one and maybe a purple abyss or teal or candy apple red or sapphire or rose gold. Just fun to have a one off colour zip.
I'm sure you have seen it already but there's a short video here on RUclips by Forbes called "Zippo: An 82 Year Old Flame" and it actually answers a lot of what you're saying in this video, from the words they say to the current CEO's demeanor towards the company, "America doesn't smoke like it used to" is especially a standout line to me because that video is now 8 years old & with the HUGE rise in vaping in the last 3 or 4 years especially here in the UK, it's really no wonder why they refuse to put the prices down! it doesn't make it ok of course but you have to imagine their customer base must have dropped off a cliff in the last decade, couple that with people buying second hand zippos instead of new ones etc from a business standpoint it probably makes sense to keep the cost up even if it means losing a few die hard fans :(
Nah they just being greedy they sell 10’s of millions of zippos every single year. Enough is never enough for them. All the price hikes happened after duke. The grandson stepped down.
Yeah seems Zippo ripping us off. I have a Jack Daniel’s brass that my kids mum bought me in 2005 and it cost £24.50 now in same shop it’s like £80 lol 😂 I also have a brass 2003 Iraq zippo I bought while in Iraq in 2003 from a American store on base and it only cost about £25 now I go look at how much they selling for and it’s crazy money but then that is from normal sellers not zippo but still crazy how much zippos have shot up.
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors definitely agree with you there. Such a shame really as zippo makes some of the most beautiful lighters out there and now they have just ruined it for themselves as us normally people will stop buying them.
Could you do a customised zippo in the way of removing the outer coating to the brass finish? You’ve probably done it before and I’ve missed it but I’d like to see how it’s done right. I’ve seen a video on this from another channel but I’m dubious of how it came out… “high polished”! When I done it mine came out like a tumbled brass and I had to polish it up to get the high polished finish. I don’t believe when removing the coating it automatically comes out high polished as I seen on another video. Anyway, only if you got time. 😊
I just etch the chrome right off and buff it. There’s videos out there of me doing it on both my channels. Just imagine I Didnt out images on them. Exact same thing.
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors would it be manageable by hand and elbow grease to do that to a chrome zippo? Not a lot of companies offer silver products because of the potential for loss. Idk if zippo had to re tool machines to stamp silver, or how much they resupply. But. To consider your reasoning, a $40 brass zippo has about $0.15 worth of metal. A lot of what you're complaining about is simply inflation. Having a luxury line of zippo is better than zippo closing down. Also, consider that wages in Pennsylvania also went up.

After years of using a $5 knockoff Chinese Zippo style lighter I now have three real Zippos. Two brand new ones and an older Bob Marley case with a new insert. All anyone really needs is the $25 chrome Zippo in the blister pack.
All u Ned
Yep, just picked up my first as an “all in one” blister pack for 18 bucks on Amazon, standard brushed brass (not a fan of chrome, I’m going to force patina the brass), and includes 4oz of fluid and flints
The SKIDZ Zippos you were talking about is part of a collaboration with the brand SKIDZ, which is a clothing brand. So while the design is really, really bad, Zippo may have had to make some compromises with SKIDZ. Otherwise yeah, you're right about all of this.
Yeah I’m aware of the clothing brand. Still looks like the artist Didnt understand the assignment lol
@Zippo Fanatic 77 Outdoors
Hi, i’m looking for the do it all, all day everday carry zippo that i will use with butane insert for smoking cigars
Any advice ?
@@bigstaif7753 thanks man from 🇨🇦. this is the only way to speak to me sorry.
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors
Ok no problem man i get it
Yeah i plan to buy the yellow flame not torch because i have many torch lighters and for a zippo i’d like to keep it traditional with the yellow flame being closer to the original design with the wheel, the problem was the fact that is gas and it’s not recommended for lighting cigars, problem solved with yellow flame insert.
And for the advice
I really hesitate between the armor high polished chrome and the 1941 chrome brushed (of polished if it exists i dont know) i like the polished chrome finish overall because i’ts a good alternative to the crazy expensive silver.
So yeah i can’t choose between those two. I’ve watch you saying that the hinge is better on 41 but the armor is substancial too and feels solid so if you can help me choose
@@bigstaif7753 just get both then lol they both are a really

Maybe get armor first then cause it has your finish

That Asian dragon armor gold plate used to sell for 50$ brand new. Kicking myself for not getting one then

Those bottom two are pretty rad.

I am starting to wonder if we arent seeing zippos anymore because the stores are being outpriced and have no profit margin. there is one store here not including walmart that sells zippos new
Well it’s hard to say because they ebay sellers sell there’s for half price than zippo website. So I’m sure stores are just price gouging like u wouldn’t believe.
retail stores have the same margins on Zippos since the 1930s.
It looks and feels absolutely genuine and the markings are identical to other zippos I have dating 2012 up to 2014. Doesn’t look like it has been used either. In fact, even the wick looked liked it had been packed from zippo lol 😂
I only purchased it because it was half the price as it is on the zippo website so not too worried I have a fugazi. Don’t think it is though.
Anyway, am I just being fussy or paranoid?
Thanks 😊
Probably fine lol
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors yeah… don’t care because it’s a beautiful zippo lol.

Nah I don’t make them anymore
Yeah fun little hobby turned into a rich persons game over night it seemed.
