Vector Thunderbird - Soft Flame Zippo Lighter Insert

  • In this video we are taking a look at a soft flame lighter insert from VectorKGM. The benefit to a butane lighter insert for a Zippo lighter is peace of mind. One of the only disadvantages to a traditional Zippo lighter is the fact that they evaporate fuel fairly quickly. The Vector, and other lighter inserts are designed to cure that issue.

    The reliability of bic combined with the iconic zippo design! Love my old zippo but having to refill it only for it to dry up in 5 days gets old after the first time. Getting one of these ASAP

    Honestly the New Zippo Inserts are amazing, i am truly surprised at how much i am enjoying it and how much less filling i have to do. I wish they made them in brass to match my antique copper lighter! like yours!!!! Great video !!!

      Well you have x2 options.. "Zorro" actually makes some full on solid brass inserts that work well with Zippo's. They also have copper if I remember correctly. However.. the solid brass "Zorro" inserts are definitely softer & you'll have to take care because the chimney will bend easier. You can also do some plating yourself. Like a Rose Gold plating on your Zippo insert. Brass too. It all just depends how badly you want something other than the chrome. It's definitely possible. There's definitely options. Zorro stuff is almost exclusively sold through Ali Express. Rose Gold is the easiest plating to work with. I've only worked with Nickel & Rose Gold plating. Anyone with a garage or work shop, with some nice ventilation can do it.

    I'd like to get this insert sometime. I rarely use lighters because I don't smoke but just like zippos and really only use them for candles, fires, and camping. So I just rarely fill it and I'd be nice to have it always filled. Thanks for the review!

    Another nice thing about pressurized butane is your ability to turn the lighter sideways and have the flame still extend some. Anyone who has tried lighting birthday candles with a zippo quickly realizes the flame just stays vertical when you turn the lighter 90°.

      Put the candle tip in the chimney of the zippo to light, no issue. Butane is nice but doesn’t win in the cold or water.

      Thank you sir. Hard to beat a classic. It's like that 69 Camaro that always has a little something that isn't working quite right, but man is it fun to drive. That may be a little bit of an exaggeration, but I do like a good Zippo. Thanks for watching.

    Just got one of these for use with a matte black Zippo just like in the video. Mine is also a G variant with the soft fame, but the fuel case is transparent so I can see how much fuel is in it. I also wanted a Zippo for the styling and fairly robust build, but didn't want to deal with always having to refuel it even when it wasn't be used. I don't smoke but believe a source of flame is a good thing for EDC, and the Zippo design is robust enough and unassuming. I intend to get another case and another of these inserts to have in my vehicle get home bag for emergencies.

  • @cemetery895
    @cemetery895 2 года назад +4

    The Thunderbird G insert is one of the best lighters, but the transparent one is better because you can see how much to fill rather than estimate how much fuel.

    Remember zippos will sound a bit different especially since they're not all made of same metals, like brass, copper, steal painted and different finishes too. Armor zippo sound a bit different too. At the end of the day you have a good zippo lighter, who cares if sound isn't consistent

    I have the p version because I smoke a pipe. I really like mine, the only negative that I see is that it loses gas as soon as it is opened but that is not a design flaw, it's just the way that style has to be made.
