    Zippo released a soft flame butane insert. Ignites with the wheel like the classic, but the gas is released by a button. So you have to keep pressing it if you want the flame to stay burning. On the plus side, you can play with the lid as much as you want without wasting fuel and breathing butane.
    And it fits the 1935 case!
    I only wish Zippo made actual holes in the insert.

      Yeah only downside i can think of with the zippo soft flame insert is if u smoke cigars(like i do) you have to hold that button... Cigars can take a lil while to get lit.. If i gotta hold a button i might aswell use a plastic clipper lighter for $1.99 from the check out line at the gas station

    I have the TH-INSERT-G with the see through, goes in and out pretty easily but doesn't come out with use, lasts forever. I like that I can see the amount of butane left (or rather, I just like when I fill it up to see how much there is in there as I'm filling up so I don't overfill and it spurts out)

      @@butapioka Can confirm. I have the 912 and it's so beautiful (You can check it in my video 😉).
      Not only the actual form factor is miles ahead of Zippo, but it also last for months with light usage. The sealing is really great feature.

    Hows the lighter holding up today? The gas lasts long?

      Still awesome! Lasts a decent amount of time but the best part is how easy it is to check the fluid levels

    ::Thunderbird insert fix:: If anyone has an issue with getting this insert to light after changing the flint. USE A BIC FLINT from a disposable bic lighter. Zippo flints for some reason will not ignite a flame in these inserts. Trust me and save yourself a headache. The bic flint works flawlessly. Hope this helps someone

    Вставка хороша по аутентичному виду, по наличию регулятора (чего нет у вставки Zippo с обычным пламенем) и по прозрачному корпусу (видно наличие газа), нравится и алгоритм работы (что газ подается при открытии крышки и нет кнопки, которую нужно удерживать). Всё хорошо кроме того, что сломалась на второй день использования (кулачковый механизм) теперь крышка корпуса в закрытом положении люфтит и травится газ.

    I got mine today and it seems whenever I close it, I can hear it leak gas, have you had that problem? Only way i dont hear it leak gas is when I take it out of the zippo case and flip the cam itself

    I have 2 Thunderbirds (g soft flame version.) One is the version you have. It's a PAIN to remove ( like I have to use pliers to remove it from the zippo housing.) The other version that's listed in the brochure is far easier to remove. The Zippo butane insert I have (single flame) goes into the housing easily (as well as removing it.)

    • @TheEnthusiastExperiment
      @TheEnthusiastExperiment  3 года назад

      The zippo insert fits much better than the thunderbird but luckily my thunderbird fits a little looser than yours and I don't need pliers, maybe they have more size inconsistencies or recently slightly changed the dimensions of the tanks?

    • @rage340
      @rage340 2 года назад +2

      On the sides of the insert there are 4 small raised ridges(2 on each side) I took a file and filed them down to almost nothing, my insert still fits snugly but is much easier to remove now!

    It is actually pretty good I got it today, the only problem is it leaks like alot using Zippo fluid, but the results are really good for me. I set to be pretty high since my Yellow Flame insert is stuck on low setting, the flames get extremely big. Bigger than I could get on a regular Zippo classic with lighter fluid. The windguard is slightly different, the part next to the cam doesn't get divided into two parts and the holes are less spread out. I reccomend the Thunderbird insert g, but get the transparent one as you can see the butane levels.

    I've had mine for a while. It's alright, but the flame height seems very erratic. I'll set it as low as possible, and sometimes it will blast out really high, completely random. Idk if there's something I'm doing wrong, or if I can fix it, but it just burns fuel unnecessarily.

    • @TheEnthusiastExperiment
      @TheEnthusiastExperiment  3 года назад

      I've had that happen with mine too randomly

      @@TheEnthusiastExperiment mine doesn't shut the gas valve when the lid is closed so it just constantly wastes gas

    • @breal6910
      @breal6910 3 года назад +2

      You could be over filling with butane. Before you refill it. Press the butane receiver on the thunderbird with a pen tip.Get all the excess air out before refilling. If its good. Youll have butane spitting out.
      You literally need to count to 1-2 seconds when filling up. Let it rest 5min.

    • @pomeroy600287
      @pomeroy600287 2 года назад

      This happened to me, you can fix it by bending the small metal spring under the cam that presses down on the valve such that it exerts slightly more pressure when the cam is in the closed position. I think the heat may cause it to deform over time.

    I just got one of these for Christmas and the gas doesn’t stop flowing when the lid is closed. First time I took it out of my pocket it made a huge fireball and burned my hand. Now when the lid is closed I can hear it hissing, guess it’s going in the trash.

      It actually looks like yours is an armor Zippo. Armor Zippos have a flat bottom rather than canned and also has a small shield with an “A” in it at the bottom right of the bottom of the zippo.
      Does that brass one have the shield with an A in it on the bottom?

    • @TheEnthusiastExperiment
      @TheEnthusiastExperiment  2 года назад

      Thank you for pointing that out! I must have slipped and said fluid as I was looking at the refill tank, but you are correct it takes butane gas and that is the whole reason I got this over the standard zippo insert which uses zippo fluid. :)
