    Yeah, I felt a bit miffed I bought the M1 late last year and then they bring out the M2 and go back to MagSafe which I would have preferred! - for my use case though I don't think I would notice the speed at the moment but as with any OS, I find it needs more power over time after the updates so I may find I want an upgrade sooner. Saying that I only changed from my 2014 i5 4th gen Air to this and it is a vast improvement, I was even surprised the speakers were even better which partly sold it for me on the old mac even though I've always used windows previously, though I am using a windows pc to type this!

    i purchased a midnight m2 air with bumped-up RAM and HD drive space. my previous laptop was a macbook pro 13" late-2013 model. i feel pretty comfortable saying i detect an improvement in performance between the 2013 and 2022 laptops. :)

    I wa thinking of getting the m1 used because im only gonna use it for writing and web browsing but also facetime. So if the camera is not very good on the m1 i might have to go for the m2 just because of that😮

    I know this video was a year ago, but the M1 still would've been a 3 year old computer. Fast forward to end of 2023 and it's nearing 4 years. My last computer i had for 11 years had an IOS that was no longer supported after 6 years. 4 is too close to 6.

    One word, ergonomics. I just ordered the m2 and the slightly smaller bezels, weight all around style is why I chose it tbh over the M1.

    The M1 MBA's innovation was a huge increase in cool-running processor power, but no significant quality of life improvements compared to the Intel MBA that preceded it.
    The M2 MBA's innovations are all about quality of life improvements--brighter, better, slightly larger display; smaller bezels; MagSafe; better headphone jack--and not about increases in processor performance that people will notice in everyday use.
    The M1 is still an incredible and easily recommendable machine, two years later. College students can get one for $899 and it will serve them extremely well. And most other folks who don't want to spend the extra $200 for the M2 MBA.

    TBH, only the SLIGHTLY BIGGER (by 0.3 inch) SCREEN of the M2 is what makes me wanna choose it (though I'm not really sure of its significance over the slightly smaller m1 in real world scenarios). 😅
    I don't really mind the
    slightly better chip (arguably),
    slightly brighter screen,
    slightly better camera,
    slightly thinner bezels,
    slightly wider touchpad,
    slightly better speakers (arguably)
    magsafe,
    and full-sized function keys.
    IF ONLY the M1 and M2 both have the same screen size, then I would easily go with the older, cheaper one, the M1. 😔
    APPLE knows how to play the game. 😂

  • @qwe1231
    @qwe1231 Год назад +16

    This was a slanted compatison. Aside from distinct advantages to M2 (eg video work 27% faster), that's not the point. It's a resdesigned unit, a body with different and upgraded ports and parts, so pretending that the machines are identical except for the chip is a disservice. You spent 15 seconds mentioning "other improvements" to the new machine, which is laughable. WP videos need to be better than this. No one expects a Verge level of video quality but you are expected to do better reporting.

      it definitely was a little bit biased.

    • @Blacksonaudio
      @Blacksonaudio Год назад +1

      Totally not biased. Blind taste test and dude got one wrong the other times he guess correct. The point is to show you how marketing works. Atleast apples marketing. 18% isn’t really noticeable. It’s like an audiophile arguing the perks of analog vs digital but to the average consumer can you really tell the difference between gold plated versus copper shielded?? Nope. Just get what you can afford

    • @qwe1231
      @qwe1231 Год назад

      @@Blacksonaudio No, it was a stupid comparison for a number of reasons. First, it's not news that a simple chip upgrade means little for typical websurfing etc, but this video acts like it could be. Second, the video pretends (aside from a quick couple of seconds towards the end) that the machines are otherwise identical - they're not, and the new machine is an overhaul with better video, more ports, better life and more - ALL IGNORED. Thus it's a useless slanted review.

    • @Blacksonaudio
      @Blacksonaudio Год назад +1

      @@qwe1231 again. Blind test (average Joe Schmo) could not, would not be able to tell the difference that 18% makes. So if a mag safe port and a new chassis isn’t up you’re alley you’re not losing much. Hell, I’ve had two Genius Bar employees tell me that. It’s a refresh. That’s it. Minor “upgrades”…

    • @qwe1231
      @qwe1231 Год назад

      @@Blacksonaudio No, the video pretended that there was no difference, but there are major usability difference for transcoding, video chat, usability if you need more ports. Merely comparing speed in a simplistic, facile fashion (while eliding other real improvements) does a disservice. WP should do better.

    The macbookair M2 chip conducts heat better in terms of the Heatsink and it's probably gonna last longer because it has less moving parts, also quieter if you are one that likes that kinda thing, processor speed Is definitely better if ur into Autocad, packet tracer, coding that sort of thing and there is the form factor...but the fact still is you can do what you can do on the previous on the latter so your choice
