Back when this was a hit in 1985, the New England Patriots had made it to their first Super Bowl, SBXX. A local radio station took this song and made their own hype song “When the going gets tough, New England gets going, when the going gets rough, the Pats get tough!” It had a lot of cheesy lyrics about Coach Ditka and Coach Berry, Jim McMahon, etc. Didn’t help a bit, the Pats got absolutely smashed to pieces by that historic Bears defense and lost 46-10 and it wasn’t even that close.
